Wasn't confident on approach as there were rocks strewn everywhere... looks like a vandal job. Was surprised to see cache still in place but completely uncovered. Put back with rock in front. TFTC
A nice and easy find
The caching gods were smiling on me here.
After signing the logbook and rehiding the cache I noticed how many more potential hidey holes there were.
Or have previous finders been sticking rocks in holes to add to the confusion ?

Came here some time ago but in the middle of a rainstorm, so left it then. Good to return on a sunny and muggle-free day to make an easy find.
TFTC, and trust that last Sunday's event here went well.

Our 9th find this morning on the way to the Birthday Event. Found the extraction tool very handy - great hidding spot. TFTC Kinkell1 and for our great Birthday event held here today.
Found today shortly before the Birthday Event got underway. A very stealthy grab surprised even the other member of sashi2, however the replacement was much less subtle as the attendees for the event began to arrive. Thanks Kinkell1 for a great cache and fantastic event which followed
Found at the birthday event with the support of Geo_Eddie.

Good spot for a picnic or BBQ and a birthday celebration. Finding the cache was the icing on the cake as I am new to all this. Thanks for the cake and the cache.
Found today, I came here after a walk in the werribee gorge hoping to make the event, but seems to have moved on.
A quick find.
Now to head home via a few new caches in green dale / myrniong

A quick find today whilst cleaning up a few in the Myrniong and Ballan areas. This looks like it might have been the substructure for a house. Would have been a great place to live. Not many at the pool today even though it is expected to be 37 deg.
Thanks for showing me this great area Kinkell1

This cache was found by me today in the company of The Demolition Crew.
While I strive to make my logs personal to every cache, I have far too many logs to do, that I apologise in this instance for using a generic log. I thank you for the placement of this cache as it was one of many that made up a great day for me and the crew..
The Day's Blurb...
The annual holidays is always a great time to relax and take it easy, but not today. The Demolition Crew had decided that after such a long break from caching together that we would start the year off with a bang! So the planning minds were put into operation, and Ballarat Smackdown II was conceived.
The smackdown started along way from Ballarat, in fact in the hills around Cardinia Reservoir and from there is was a push across the northern suburbs of Melbourne through Melton & Bacchus Marsh. It being such a hot day, the waters of Pykes Creek Reservoir cooled and refreshed us, and we were soon off to start on the Ballarat caches.
Since our first Smackdown in the area, many new caches have popped up, so it was a fruitful run which ended well into the early morning. A couple of caches were replaced as a way of saying thanks to those who took the time to place them, and I think in the end my tally was well over 100 for the run.
It was a completely awesome day, and I thank you for placing the cache. We will return to the Ballarat area soon as there are still a number of caches we left undiscovered.

Spent a fair bit of time here with a previous finder and two others, but came up with zilch. Will have to watch this one.
Our guess is that this was the walls of a small house - very solid as they were in the "olden days". There were some muggles with a junior muggle playing on the equipment nearby, however we were able to find a likely spot at 1510hrs, sign the log and replace the cache in its nifty little "house". Thanks Kinkell1 for this cache
Found on a day out with my nephew. first cache of the day. curios little spot and fun to find. thanks for bringing us here
We had come here months ago to do a nearby cache, missed an event by 15minutes and then this one wasn't online... so today a quick found was made. Thanks for the cache.
The non geocaching wife had some old girl friends coming for lunch so the ageing Bushfire thought that this was the perfect excuse to clean up Bacchus Marsh and Ballan and gain a few smilies.
A bit late getting away but this was the 22nd stop.
Pulled up in the parking area and started a search with not a sole around as it was getting late and most people were down the street where a large gathering of folk were celebrating Halloween with a police escort.
cache was sighted , signed and returned and off to the next.
Thanks Kinkekk1 for placing this cache and the new log now has it's first name.

Like the previous finder, I think it's missing too.
Please could the CO check it since the last find was five months ago?

Quick find. After logging there stops a car and a nice aussie couple asks: "Are you geocachers?" It was nice talking to you - hope you will make it to Switzerland once for caching.

A quick easy find tonight at 7.00pm. No one around and could see the cache, maybe needs a coat of black paint.

My Hubby (Digital_Dan) & I are on vacation with our good friends, Mr & Mrs benny7210. Made out way through Ballarat where we are staying, picking up caches along the way. Out and about caching and sight seeing. This looks as if it was an old stone storage shed maybe. Hard to tell for sure though. found the cache no problem.

TFTC. Have always driven straight through Ballan & didn't know about this pleasant area behind the main drag.
Fantastic to see a water race like this. I saw a similar thing on Time Team a while back where they were excavating an old mill in Britain somewhere and showed how the river was diverted to power the Mill.
Cheers and thanks for bringing me here.

We were out early in the Ballan district as we had met up with friends for breakfast who had come off the Tasmanian Ferry and were heading straight through to Adelaide. While we were in the area we thought we would do some caching. A very cold day but off we went anyway. Nice one. Thanks kinkell1

Nice little hide, lucky the area was dead quiet for the time I found it at 16:00.
Found after a bit of searching. Tried to imagine what it was like many years ago and what the building may have been. Found by geokid Jack....who was a bit troubled by where it was and was worried about spiders.

2nd find of the day, and 2988th total find at 11:21.
We set out to find 14 caches today, and have to say this was a most difficult number to achieve.
This cache was one of the easiest, they got harder to find as we went westward.
Took: Nothing
Left: Nothing

yes! Found it today. It had been elluding me for some time, then I realised that it had been muggled. I've been waiting to attack it again so thanks for putting it back on the scene. Rainy when I was out and about but worth it. TFTC Kinkell1

Had trouble with this one. GPS was carrying on a treat and I was a little short of time. Will try again when I'm out and about in the area.
Looked here for a little bit, but without finding any loose stones, no smiley. The remains are a little worse for wear and I didn't want to do any more damage that what is already done.
Thanks kinkell1

Found numerous likely spots, lots of loose stones but no cache. Has been a couple of months since last seen, will keep an eye on future logs.
We were celebrating a grandparents 70th birthday at the nearby Mill Rose Cafe. When geo-kids had had enough of sitting still and making conversation, Geo-dad took them off to find this cache. Thankyou for the chance to stretch legs and have a play as well as find an interesting cache in an interesting location.
Has to be a barbie, anything else is unaustralian...
Found with ease with a few muggles about.

Found in the company of RogWat, coley_babee and walenators on a numbers run into Ballarat.
It looks too small to be a house, an outhouse maybe.
Would be interesting to find out what it actually was though!
I was however fascinated by the over flowing river, as were other people.
Thanks again Kinkell1.

Quick find today whilst at the nearby event. Finally knocked this one over. Lost count of the number of time I've been nearby and the place was crawling with muggles.

a day caching with corza1993 and xesist, we expected to find a plaque with a description near the ruins, unfortunatley there was'nt. sl, tftc!
There was a muggle with his grand daughter here, but these park caches are so much easier to do with the Geokids when muggles are about. They make for the perfect cover. Let them run off and play and others don't think your a suspicious adult hanging around a playground! Spotted the hide from a distance and pounced on it when the timing was right. Got one of the Geokids to replace it as they were running about the place. Would be intersting to find out more about the remains of the building that are here though. TFTC.
One of many found today during my 'Intervening Days III' cache hunt. Found with Marshy (Blacklegend). Nice find on our loop through Ballan back to Melton. TFTC.
48th of 52 for the day after attending Intervening Days III. Found with Marty (Quasar3671) now in night caching mode with flashlights out.... Was it a house? might have been, was it a find, you betcha. TFTC.

Probably not, perhaps an outback toilet? This cache took me a little while to find as there were so many loose stones. It appears others have had trouble also as there were quite a few stones scattered about. Finally found it though.

This one really stumped us. Normally when there is a cache like this it's hidden behind the only stone that moved... these ALL moved! We almost gave up on it, then decided on a re-search of all the places we had already looked. At last, there it was.
Found 12:05, a nice quick find in a pleasant little park.
