Beautiful forest with a lot good walks. I am pretty sure that I was at the right spot but even with using the flashlight and reaching into hole I just couldn't find the cache.

17-Jul-18
Couldn't find.needs maintenance

05-May-18
I spent today on Waiheke Island, doing a few activities and looking for caches that I hadn't found on my previous visits. I parked on Scotts Terrace and made my way to GZ from there. I ended up losing the track at one point, so just took a direct line to GZ. Soon found the cache, but couldn't get it out of it's hole! So ended up taking the lid of it while it was still in the hole, signed the log then put the lid back on. Managed to follow a trail back out to the car. TFTC!

24-Apr-18
Contents damp and hard to write on the logbook. Otherwise great! TFTC

06-Apr-18
Lovely bush walk on a perfect day for it. Got a bit confused about direction at one point but kept on going and found GZ soon after. Not a fan of sticking my arm in dark spaces full of cobwebs! TFTC.

01-Feb-18
Found it

14-Jan-18
Found it! Great fun treasure hunting with the kids!

11-Jan-18
Found the tree, couldn’t find the cache unfortunately.
Amazing tree, lots of places to hide the cache, ran out of time to keep looking.

29-Dec-17
Well that was an adventure. Went off the trail, and realised that was actually one that led to We've done a lot of bush bashing these 2 days on the island. Still hoping to get all the caches on here before we leave tonight. Like the previous person, we had to unscrew the lid of the cache inside it's little hiding spot. Log is a bit damp as well. Tftc Smile

29-Dec-17
This one was a little adventure for us. We had been under the impression that some bush bashing was necessary because there were no trails on the map. For future reference there is a trail. We had a good laugh at ourselves. It was tricky opening and closing the cache due to tree growth but all good for now. Thanks!

11-Nov-17
Found it!! Awesome spot, awesome hide. Found it when it was getting dark. The only problem was that the container was to big to get out so I had to undo it inside the hiding spot. Was really nice tho. Canadian working on Waiheke helping out on a team of people to save the native forest here on the island. Thanks for the awesome hide.

25-Aug-17
Found it quiet fast. Beautiful spot.

Really enjoyed walking through this piece of bushland. The hobbitts could have lived here too.

Easily found and logged.
TFTC.

27-Apr-17
We were a bit hesitant to chase this one after reading the last few DNF. Decided to go ahead just for the hike, sooo excited, found cache in good condition, after overcomming fear of dark holes, as we are from Australia. A tough walk for 2 and half stars?? A great hide, TFTC. A favorite from us.

19-Apr-17
There were a couple of good hiding places there but no sign of a regular container.

15-Feb-17
Hiked the trails in the pouring rain, got good and soaked! Found the tree but had no luck, but even with 'alloverhope's' help finding the cache was not in the books. A great area to visit anyway, we will look for another cache to leave a travel bug in before we leave NZ.

15-Feb-17
No luck, though it was raining steady and very muddy - we (rayjaygeo) and I tried!

07-Feb-17
Awesome tree, hard to believe it's still standing. Make sure to take the lid off first, you'll see what I mean.

24-Dec-16
Christmas bush walking (that sounds a bit funky now to think of it Big Grin). Since we are from Finland, this was truly something different for us even thoug forests and tramping is nothing new to us. Had to search for the cache for a while before finally finding it. Found also a dead rat nearby.. The cache itself was in good shape. Thanks for the cache.

22-Nov-16
Hi and thanks for the cache!
Been trying to get this one a few times now and finally decided to ignore the map and just follow the compass. Then it was relatively easy.
But we did have a debate whether or not the tree actually was a Puriri and not, what we thought, a Kohe Kohe.
Cool tree either way Smile

28-May-16
Went to Waiheke Island with KirsTim to tackle some of the caches there. Thought this one would be nice and straightforward, but where we were walking wasn't lining up with the tracks on our GPSr, so who knows where we ended up... a lot of backtracking, and we were eventually on track to where the cache was hidden. The tree where this was hiding though has since grown, so the container is now actually stuck in the hidey-hole where it is hidden. Managed to squeeze one arm through the roots, pinch the log out so we could sign it and then carefully replaced it. Thanks for the hide. Smile

28-May-16
Out on Waiheke with Vamber, a last quick cache before heading towards the ferry....or so we thought. Entered from Scotts Terrace and we can assume now that this isn't one of the 3. The actual track didn't seem to match the map or the trail on the GPS. Went the wrong way twice before half of us going wrong a third time...oh dear. Cache found and signed eventually, signed as KKKT

15-May-16
Great family walk. Relatively easy find.

14-May-16
Enjoyed this cache with the extended whanau... A lovely find. Great for kids and well hidden. Note the coverage drops off, so description helps greatly.

26-Mar-16

22-Mar-16
Nice find, very Secluded walk

20-Jan-16
Had 4 adults and 8 kids stuck trying to find it, gave up then had another look on way back. Success thankfully 2nd time round! What an amazing tree. Thanks!

11-Jan-16
We entered the path at Waiheke road and walked to the cache. Thanks to good instructions the cache was found easily. From here we continued our walk to Trig Hill road. Amazing sounds from animals in this forest!
TFTC, greetings from Finland!

27-Dec-15
Ouah ! Massive tree ! Happy new year ! TFTC

25-Nov-15
Cycled up the hill and found an entrance and hacked it down the trail to a clearing.
Parked the hired bike up and fought my way through the depths of Borneo to the cache as I couldn't find a direct track.
Great cache spot Big Grin
Then back to the bike and followed the trail down to the road.
TFTC Big Grin

26-Sep-15
Entered from Scott terrace, thought it would be straightforward but we went back and forth down tracks which seemed to get nearer but then suddenly took us further away! Got there in the end but now we have to find our way out again.... Hope this isn't our last ever log! TFTC Smile

This cache was my favourite walk for the day. A real inspiration of what good a dedicated community really can do for our environment after all the past damage humans have and still are doing today. Three cheers to them and ttramper ted who helps make us aware of it!!! [^]

After our visit to Stony Batter, it was now time to explore this lovely reserve. I had looked online to find the entrance, which worked perfectly. The guardians provided maps of the various tracks, and with this knowledge rebel98, urbangypsynz and Gorby set of on this adventure. Beautiful Nikau, and a track that was not very muddy at all. The cache was soon located, and the log was signed. Lots of bird call too!

Thanks for the hide and bringing us to the special place Big Grin

13-Jun-15
Beautiful walk during our caching adventure on the Island. It is great to enjoy lovingly restored and maintained legacy, thank you everyone involved for the efforts. No trouble finding this with rustynz, rebel98 and Gorby.

A Day Adventure with a group of Mad Cachers Gorby, Rustynz & Urbangypsynz. Great day out full on caching time with a Gorby Coffee to finish off the day thanks all for the Trip

13-Jun-15
I drove and rustynz in the back seat with Rebel98 called out the driving instructions and decided on what caches to visit today. Also with urbangypsynz too we all wandered down the hill and uphill to the cache. It looks like the cache has been hidden here for quite some time, the roots have grown and the cache has to be undone within its hidey hole! But small fingers and patience prevailed and rusty soon had the cache open. Lovely reserve to visit here on Waiheke.

05-Apr-15
Finding this cache was the easy bit!! Took one wrong turn in finding it but was soon back on track - and cache in hand!

Unfortunately, that was where the "fun" began! One wrong turn on the way back, and then another wrong turn resulted in one very lost cachet! 30mins later, a few yelling out names to find someone in the bush to give directions and a text to the better half to come looking, managed to get back to the car!

Giving this a favourite point as it will be a memorable cache for us!

24-Feb-15
During our holiday at Waiheke I took the opportunity to hunt for some caches. I found lovely walking tracks, beautiful views and exiting reserves.
Many thanks.

01-Jan-15
The cache was wedged firm. We needed to remove lid to get this out. Thanks for the cache. Watch out when replacing cache as it is hard to smash it in! TFTC.

29-Dec-14
Have found this once before. So was a straight forward find for us today. Did not recall how tricky it was to get the log but once we figured that the cache was permanently trapped we worked with it insitu.

14-Dec-14
First find as a married couple! Weather cleared up, awesome walk! TFTC

spending the day exploring Waiheke Island with Team welsh and Chosen1978. hoping to conquer the whole Island in a day Smile. nice walk to GZ in a lovely wee reserve thanks.

31-Oct-14
Out on Waiheke Island for the day with chosen1978, Butchie Bum and us. Once we had the rental car it was off to conquer an island. Had a great walk to this location, spotted the tree and the likely hidey hole, initially couldn't locate it where we thought it should be bit a little deeper searching revealed the cache. Did what most other people did and took the lid off where the cache was as we were unable to remove it from the hole. As this cache can not be removed I doubt it will be ever be muggled. Great place for a cache and nice to find a Tramper Ted cache again. Thanks

Loved walking through these tracks today on a lovely sunny Easter break ! Found easily with hint thanks ! Great tree ... Couldn't get container out so had two put both hands in gap to unscrew !

19-Apr-14
Great find! We managed to get it out the hole Smile and put it back too. TGTC

22-Mar-14
Took ages to find the right bush track but the hint helped once we finally got close. Planted a trackable on this one, which was good cos I've had it too long. I picked it up on waiheke, took it right down grim chch to Dunedin and all the way back to the island. It's also my 35th birthday today and my 99th cache

22-Mar-14
Relatively easy find once found right hole. Tried a couple holes first. Couldn't fit it out of hole so just opened it in there. Tftc

Great signage on the tracks around this reserve. Found the tree and struggled to get the cache from its hiding place. I suspect some growth has reduced the size of the opening. Easy find. TFTC. We so enjoyed this place that we carried on to the other side of the reserve and back.

Nice walk, grand spot for a cache.

12-Dec-12
My goodness me, we went one way and that began to look wrong, so back tracked the other way on the 'new track' and that looked good than was way off... so back tracked again and finally went far enough that the track curved back to where we needed to be. Whew! t4tc

Eloise (2) & Tony (daddy) Lyle found this cache whilst on the coast to coast walk with Grandpa Jeff. Grandpa Jeff spotted it. Lovely cold clear winders day. Eloise swapped some treasure. TFTC. Lyle family.

We entered the Twigs and Tweets Reserve from Scott Terrace and made our way down the hill through some nice bush. Had some trouble reconciling the tracks marked on the map near the entrance, the tracks marked on our GPS and the tracks zig zagging on the ground. Got there in the end, thanks.

Got up early and made the walk from Onetangi Beach. Entered via Scotts Ave and walked through the bush to GZ. Track seemed to be quite dry. Plenty of tuis along the track. Coords spot on which made for an easy find. Grabbed TB for moving along. Couldn't get the cache out of its hidey hole - the tree must have grown alot since the cache was published! Made the return trip out onto Waiheke Road. Really enjoyed the walk! TFTC Big GrinBig Grin

I must thank Dr. John Rae for my first cache's adventure and for showing me the Geocaching. From today, I will look for another caches in New Zealand where I am studying now and in Brazil when I get back to my country. Anyway this cache is in the one of the most beautiful walkways in the Waiheke Island. You must see this peace of bush and look for this cache. Thanks Tramper Ted. Cheers.

11-Jan-11
This gotta be one of my favs. Made a new friend from Brazil today, and after we had had lunch I took him to the reserve to find his first cache. He was immediately hooked. We took the wrong trail first and had to turn around, but once we came closer, I was 99% sure we were in the right place, even though the GPSr put us 30m further. Thanks for choosing the spot, well done!

Left a brand new TB that wants to travel to my home. If you take it, please log it.

Thanks for bringing us to this reserve.

What an awesome cache! Really enjoyed that one. Took the round circuit in the reserve and enjoyed every meter! Had problems locating the cache first because the cover was off and I expected the cache to be under the cover. Fixed that now. Thanks for that great cache!

Our second geocache on the New Zealand Smile Thanks for nice journey during forest. Dalibor and Jitka

22-Oct-10
Our first find on Waiheke at the reserve just down the road from our rented bach. Chose the wrong path and couldnt get closer than 100ms so resorted to a careful cross bush explore and quickly located the stash. Pretty place and dry today...in fact dry all weekend.

18-Oct-10
Nice bit of bush.Come in from Scott Terrace & out on to Waiheke Rd.No worries finding the cache, but very tight getting it out.
TB visit

Cheers Tramper Ted

11.40am. A bit slippery coming down from Scotts Terrace today but got there by a roundabout route. Were in company with The Pud today and made short work of locating the cache. This is a great reserve and thanks for that go to the Forest & Bird volunteers.
