!!!!!!tftc!!!!! a nice little walk found the plaque easy then entered the coordinates and of to gz nearly a scootet at gz !
My GPSr and phone were telling me different things and confusing me greatly until it dawned on me that I had solved the necessary information previously and had the corrected coordinates in my GPSr. Off to the correct GZ and I still managed to stuff things up by visiting an incorrect elevation to start with. Once corrected I was able to make the grab in a quite period of passers by. Tftc.

Nice fresh log. Beautiful morning. Lovely view (slightly spoiled by the traffic noise). TFTC.
Well my first multi cache... wasn't too bad after I got my numbers correct and stopped trying to walk on water... tftc.. Log full so left a diary page..
In Brisbane for a conference for a week so I thought I would try to grab some Australian caches while I was here, brings my country count up to 4! This was number 1 for Brisbane. Completed it with 2 other nongeocachers so was a cool city for an introduction for them. We were initially confused at how to get to the final as we encountered a dead end, but we worked it out eventually and found the right spot to look after 5 minutes of wandering. Thanks for the cache, and earned my first August souvenir. Greetings from New Zealand!
On a weekend in the city centre LadySim and I took a little time out for caching.
'Twas on Anzac Day that LadySim and I stopped off to solve this little fellow on the way to the parade in which our daughter was playing in a marching band. Given the time we gathered the information, we were running late and decided to leave the pickup for another day. Also given the number of people in the area it seemed the prudent thing to do.
So on our geo cycle around the city today we called in to grab the final. As I was tring to make heads or tails of the iPhone navigation, LadySim looked over my shoulder and said 'that wouldn't be it over there would it?'...what do you know it sure was! We quickly signed the log and moved on.
Thanks for the cache GhostGums!

A nice quick multi with the required information easily located and the cache quickly found. Thanks for the hide GhostGums. Brahms6 and I enjoyed the walk and the find.
Grabbed the coords from the cairn during lunch. A quick work to GZ had the cache nabbed quickly! SL TFTC
Standing at the cairn, I tried to imagine Brisbane when the explorers arrived and mapped and named this place.
There was no buildings, no bridges, no roads just the wide open bush and the large river flowing past.
There may have been some indigenous people with their humpies along the river maybe hostile to the invaders into their land.
Thank you for the history lesson today.
TNLNSL TFTC Thanks Ghostgums All good with this cache

As I'm gradually ticking off the CBD area caches one by one, this direction has been on the map lately, so to speak. Last week I did the Makerston Street Powerwalk, so became familiar with John Oxley, as well.
When I realised I needed information from John, it was time to go back ot my notes from the walk, but the questions differed enough to require a new study.
Instead of actually going out and about, tested one night if I could armchair cache this one.
Using my favourite search engine I managed to find a set of information to derive the coordinates for this cache. Happily noted that the final GZ is convenient for my daily commute, and today it was time to grab the cache.
At 4 pm when the place is getting busier, I loitered much, looked like I'd belong to the spot where people rarely spend any time. Did some visual checks and one of them revealed the likely hide. At a break in traffic flow, I sensed my way around and fingers met the container. Sweet!
The easy part was the log, but then again, replacing the container back took some more loitering and "I'm just looking around" moves.
The logsheet has room for 3 - 4 names more. Otherwise all is good here. TFTC, GhostGums!

Wow! It was an enlightening journey picking up the clues. I enjoyed reading the history of Brisbane. This made my lunchtime walk all the more enjoyable. Found the cache, signed log and returned. TFTC
Last weekend, I took my youngest son into Roma St parklands for a look around. Whilst there, I collected the clues for the Makerston St Powerwalk field puzzle and this cache.
Today, on my way to have a cool drink at the CCC event, I called past GZ (once the GPS had stopped bouncing) and grabbed the cache.
Thanks for an showing me an interesting bit of Brisbanes history, Ghostgums.

I loved these caches that bring to sites that you would otherwise miss. I was staying nearby while visiting from Canberra and did this and a few others in an early morning stroll. When I had the co-ords I headed to the GZ and got to about 1m from where I thought looked like a good spot but my GPS told me to go off at a tangent. After scrambling around for a while, I finally went back to where my geocaching senses told me to be and found the cache where I had first thought. It is really beautiful out in the early morning in Brisbane and it is great to have caching to give me a purpose for early morning walks. Thanks for the cache and the history Ghost Gums. TFTC

This took me for a nice little detour on my walk through the city this afternoon. Have driven past the cairn many times but never knew it was there. Thanks for the history lesson and the cache!
Thanks very much for the history lesson. Don't know how many times we've been past this cairn and never noticed it. Well we did tonight. Found cache in good condition.

Captain Terror and I were out and about in the city this evening, and decided to knock this one off, as we missed it last time for some reason. We headed off and grabbed all of the details required, and soon had a final GZ calculated We headed off down, and after dodging the muggles, we soon had the cache in hand

TaurusSix and I got the clues earlier this morning. We were walking in the opposite direction from where we calculated the cache to be. As the day draws to a close we walk back to our hotel past the cache.
In the city, catching up with my Brother and doing a bit of shopping. This cache came up when I decided I'd had enough retail therapy!
Walked past the gz on the way to the initial. Worked out the required information, then it didn't take me very long to get back to the cache location.
Sat down and signed the log, trying not to look too weird!

On my way to my 4RPH radio shift today I decided to have another go at this one. Somehow I no longer had the final co-ords with me so had to start at the beginning again However I was very shortly back at GZ. Couldn't spot it at my first choice, so had a rethink and made the find. Wish I'd thought of it last time TFTC, GhostGums.
Interesting cache cheers! Nice to learn a bit about Brissie history. Being a Sydneysider we dont learn too much of the details... and while I always knew it was a Lord Brisbane, I didnt know he was the NSW Governor Found the info then headed to Southbank for a Coffee with a friend, then returned via a few caches and munzees to GZ. Took the wrong low path but when no suitable GZ could be seen I re-evaluated my altitude and then made a quick find.
Cheers from Sydney!

Worked this one out before meeting MM this afternoon. Co-ords were a little out but the clue help. High muggle activity in their cars but able to be discreet. TFTC
Arrived at GZ with Nurseyjulie this afternoon and decided to split off in different directions.
I spotted the cache where the clue said it would be and grabbed it easily
About 10m off the coords.
Replaced in a break in the nearby muggle traffic. Nothing to see here.

I thought I'd give this one a go after my radio shift today. Got to WP1 and found the info I needed. GZ plotted and I took a walk only to discover that North Quay pathway has been closed due to debris from the reccent heavy rains Ah well, I shall return.
A nice walk for my lunch break. Log is getting full and seems to have gotten wet at some point.

Fun and interesting history lesson and fun for this evening. We picked up this cache and many others tonight in the city on the last weekend of free parking in the city. Geowife made a quick and easy grab. TFTC
That was a fun history lesson . Found while heading into town for a walk after helping out at the Variety Santa Fun Run and Walk. I've only recently started doing puzzle and multi caches so was happy to find it. TFTC

Found part 1 easily enough and enjoyed reading the information about John Oxley and working out the final stage though didn't like the traffic speeding past as we did so. TFTC
Out and about in the city on the geobike and after picking up the required info I headed off to GZ. It's perhaps not the most scenic part of our fair city but once the GPS had settled down it was a nice easy find and another smiley on the CBD map.

Went back after lunch with fresh eyes. I was sure I had looked there. Feel better now.
Found during our stay in the wonderful City of Brissy with Alphahelix45 and Chrizzll. It took us a little moment to find the final as we were looking at the wrong place. TFTC!!
Took a bit of finding with my in car gps. Would have been easier with the etrex. TFTC
For a minute or two i thought I had the co ords wrong but waiting for the traffic lights paid off Tftc
1399 - Like another nearby cache I had picked up this evening, I had done the investigation and the walk checking out the answers and worked out the coordinates of its hiding place several months ago, but tonight was the night I would grab it as I had an hour or so to wait until Brissy Guy Junior was ready to be picked up nearby. When I got to ground zero I knew where I would find the cache, but I had to wait until the traffic was just in the right spot before I could make an attempt to grab it without looking to far out of place. I had read the logs beforehand so I knew I had to be careful that I didn't hit my head on the sign, but that didn't matter, as of course I had to follow those who had came here before, I too hit my head on the sign! After a couple of changes in the lights I managed to grab it from its hiding place at 7:38pm. A classic city cache, with a bit of a history lesson as well that deserves a favourite point from me. Thanks GhostGums!
Found it!! Got the clues yesterday lunch time and took a stroll with Iphone yesterday afternoon to find cache. Couldn't pinpoint a spot so bought brownsnakemob's garmin for a trip to the city and it took me straight to it.
Trying to look inconspicuous while returning the cache I banged my head on that sign too after telling myself I wouldn't.
Thanks for the multi Ghostgums

We are so happy to have found this after 3 DNFs today. So many people in cars watching us. TFTC
Many times in childhood, I would be in a car stopped at the lights reading this plaque. It's a bit harder to do that now as a driver, but visiting the plaque today for the first time ever, with my geoson alongside, still felt a bit special.
With light fading, we decided to pause and make the Makerston walk before coming back and crossing over at the right spot for this. It eluded me on the first pass, and a la Capt. Terror, I managed to bang my head on the sign but after I recovered, I made the grab: very nice placement and camouflage.
Logsheet is just a little mouldy but I'm sure it will last a long time yet. TFTC Ghostgums!

On way to dinner for better half's birthday so decided to acquaint ourselves with the doings of Mr Oxley. Quick solve of the problem, move to the new site (heading towards restaurant!) and cache (a little damp) quickly signed and returned. Would have been so much quicker without the traffic!
Ive seen a few mentioned of John on my travels so nice to learn a little more about him. Found the cache no problem, apart from muggles sat in traffic. TFTC!
I sourced the coordinates several weeks ago and only now got organised to seek the cache. Another lunchtime sojourn.
Basically, I spent the lunchtime crossing roads. Here's why:
Because of my work location, I approached from the John Oxley cairn. Crossed the road to walk down it. Got close to suspected GZ, then crossed the road. Quickly crossed back because the GPSr was going wild. Crossed the road once it had settled down. Crossed the road to find some ink (forgot my pen!!). Crossed the road with the cache (and agina to replace it)......and so on and so forth.
A lot of crossing roads. I agree with the warnings. This probably should not be attempted with small kids.

Found Saturday night while out caching with Lamort. This was a nice quick little multi, and the cache was found without too much difficulty. TFTC.
No issues doing this during peak hour traffic Don't think the freeway cars like being held up by a pedestrian crossing - the glares were interesting. Made sure that row of traffic had moved on before I even looked at the plaque. Silly people should be walking or on public transport anyway!
Numbers in hand I started heading straight to the final wp, but would advise not trying to go in straight lines when traffic is around (or ever really). Follow the pedestrian/bike path and it's only a few meters further but safer.
So arrived at final GZ, easy enough to do stealthily, and I left in case the traffic police were coming to get me for the earlier treck .
Thanks GhostGums, the history I sort of already knew (although the detail was interesting), but the walk was worth it.

Enjoyed the walk along the North Quay and finding out some of the history. At the final destination it was and easy grab
Ah bugger I said when I first saw this cache. I had always known of this plaque and you beat me to hiding a cache surrounding it. I always love reading about the history in the era of Oxley and the first days of the settlement of the Brisbane area. I'm even more keen on the stories and life of Patrick Logan, who was around the same time as Oxley. Many moons ago by night I walked past this plaque and took a photo of it, so the final co-ords have been saved away for a while now. Today it was a must that I grab the cache. Crossed the road and it was obvious to me where to look. Down in the corner and after I grabbed the cache I promptly, and accidentally smacked my head on the darn sign above GZ. Signed logbook and returned to it's hidey hole. Great little multi here, TFTC GhostGums.
Quickly found the necessary information and were off to GZ. Oops, backtrack, try the other side, watch for the cars whizzing by! Had the cache in hand but then needed to wait till the cars moved on as we had become the topic of conversation in the 4x4 nearby. TNLNSL TFTC.
We have driven past this monument hundreds of time but obviously have never stopped and had a look. Today was the day. A stop on the way back from a trip to the Surrealist exhibit at GOMA. Very noisy GZ but a quick find. TFTC and making us stop and discover this part of Brisbane history.
Had a couple of attempts at this one, first time in daylight when the presence of muggles precluded a proper search. Returned after dark for a fairly quick and uneventful find. TFTC
Loved this cache! I found WP1 without any issues and then made my way to the final. The GPSr was bouncing a bit but then I used some geosense and made the find! All is in fine shape! Thanks for a fun multi this afternoon! SL

Out for a day with La Kedi and DisSister. Managed to find this one after the others couldn't locate it but then they were probably keeping one eye on the kids. TFTC
Great way to discover the history of the city. I must admit to cache blindness here as one of my caching companions removed the cache from exactly the spot I had checked only moments before. TFTC
Having driven past the monument on many occasions, it was high time I stopped to actually read it. I like caches with a bit of an historical connection to them, and enjoyed this one. There was a certain degree of confusion at GZ, and it took more than one pair of eyes searching the same spot to finally turn up the cache, after a much longer search than we'd anticipated. TFTC! =^.^=
Almost disassembled the fence before I could cure this acute case of cache blindness in daylight. TFTC.
While I didn't have a chance to check the cache itself, the floodwater did not reach this part of the city. Drving through yesterday the area is clear, so this cache can be enabled.
Brisbane history has always interested me - so I especially enjoyed this cache that brought me to this area. Thankfully, I could park close enough and made my way to GZ to collect the clues. With a likely set of numbers (and after being re-checked again and again), I made my way to GZ. Initially the GPSr pointed me the wrong way. I ended up approaching totally fronm the wrong angle - but it did end up working out for me. I found it after a small hunt. The cache was in good condition. TFTC GhostGums - an enjoyable little cache with some education
Ran out of time yesterday on foot with this one. Came back today on the geocycle and rounded it up quickly. An alternative for crossing the busy road and heading to GZ is using the bike path on the river side of the first waypoint. Much safer even if you do have to go up and down a bit to do it
Found by MAL Was keeping us up at night this one.... but finally John Oxley cache was found! TFTC
Gave it a red hot go = but didn't find it. Not definite we were in the right spot. Our first day of caching and this was number 6 - maybe we were a little over confident after finding our first 5 and running our of time we just didn't get lucky. We will return and have another look - I hope it is still there! Cheers to you GhostGums, Happy New Year.
I am sure we got all the answers right , just GZ was giving us some grief Hmmm maybe another case of cache blindness.
