JustlookingOO and I headed out after work to collect a few mystery caches for a challenge. I enjoy these types of puzzles so it was a bit easier to solve than some others of huhugrubs. At GZ, we spent a long time looking in all the wrong places. Eventually I tried PAF, and even with that hint, it still took us quite a while to track down the cache. Very cleverly hidden and hard to find. FP from me for the fun puzzle and clever hide,
Had a couple of laps around the hide area, and had retreated to my car to check for hints when a muggle tourist car pulled up and started setting up a picnic right there! No choice but to leave and try again another day.
Had to contact a friend in ChCh to help me here, should have found it solo really. A clever hide. All safe and dry. TFTC
This was a fun puzzle. I remember enjoying this with a coffee on the couch on a wet Sunday morning and really enjoying the go slow time. Stopped here for what turned out to be quite a lengthy and detailed search here today. There are lots of good spots to search here - and search all of them I did - (well i thought all of them - many times over. Not a bad spot to stop and read prior logs tho - cant complain about the view. Hmm another trot around everywhere with a 'devious eye' and still no luck. Not sure how long i searched here for but it was quite a while - I couldn't see any prying eyes but i suspect this one generates some weird behaviour for the neighbours to observe sometimes Resorted to a couple of PAF's - but they weren't free so headed off. However I hadn't completely left the area - so when one of the PAF's called back I sought the ever important nudge that you reluctantly ask for - is it admitting defeat or sharing the experience with friends? - who by the way went through the same thing Yah this time success. Thanks heaps huhugrub this is a great puzzle and hide. All good here.
I am sure I have been here before to look for this cache and decided to revisit it today as I had another pair of eyes to help me locate it. After much looking and contemplating with no luck, we decided to p2f who had found the cache. While it was good to chat to them and have a wee bit of a catch up, they couldn’t remember where the cache was hidden. While talking to the second friend I wandered around for a final look at possible hiding places, when I saw a tiny thing that looked out of place - a wee bit like a student in mufti surrounded by students in uniform. Anyway, I managed retrieve the cache and finally saw what it looked like. Signed and returned to its hide. TFTC huhugrub.
After a long search and help from freinds.we found the elusive but now found cache. Tftc
I cycled up here some time ago. Hunted all over, decided the cache was in private property further in than I was willing to venture (that driveway to the left). The second time I came for a look my cellphone (yes. That was the mistake - relying on a cellphone) suggested somewhere else. It was then that I realised this was a little reserve and not private property. I found the cache, but that was not a puzzle dot day, so I put it back and walked away.
Fast forward a couple of weeks - today is a puzzle dot day, I am cycling home from Petone in a head wind, so decided this cache might be nice for a break. Yeah, right. Big long uphill, the hill sheilding any tailwind. It was a slog getting up, just like the other times. On the other hand I found a pipe cap, the sort I use in my railway caches - that's $14 saved!
Anyway, found the cache, signed, and went weee!!!! back down the hill.
The CO doesn't want any photos from here, so I have a nice assortment of other photos of Wellington from my collection attached.
By the way - my streak is half over! 183 days!! Woohoo!!!
But puzzle dot days - still 61 to go

Cycled up here after work Was a little worried that it was going to be a really steep ride up - yes it did get to the top, but no, not as steep as I first though. Long though.
Alas could not find the cache. GZ seemed to indicate 10m into private property. Maybe I typoed the final coordinates. Since checked, coords okay. Will be back for another look...

Our and about with little blue hen and our grandson. Lovely views but despite him uncovering a very likely hiding spot straight away we had to widen our search. Muggle photo takers delayed our completion but soon left. Gps for some unknown reason decided to lead us astray so resorted to a more positive solution to our dilemma. Grandson soon had cache in hand. Camo cover needs a bit of attention but all good with log. Favourite added for the view. Tftcsl
Thanks for bringing us to a spot I'd never been to before. Great view of the city and on a sunny day you can't beat Wellington. T4tcsl
Fun puzzle to solve, then the real hunt began! First attempt late in the day, getting dark, no luck finding. Second attempt early afternoon, sunny, perfect conditions. Still no luck. Finally, on point of giving up, had one last look in a spot that I'd already tried twice... and there it was. All in good order, FP from me for puzzle, hunt, and view! Cheers huhugrub! Tftc.
A fun puzzle with a neat gz. The geocaching binge with Jude-E started yesterday. We stayed the night with a friend. This was one of them.
Thanks huhugrub for placing this geocache it is find 8396 for me.

Wellington trip! Caching with Nosynel. Fun cache to find. A systematic search worked well when the obvious choices were discarded. The parka needs repair. Seams on both sides are open. Thanks for the puzzle and cache

# 1705 I really enjoyed solving this one. I had to write it out by hand as I had no access to a printer at the time. I had to consult a dictionary for the first word but was then able to navigate myself through all the obscure words. I had an error in the maths but soon realised my mistake. I had fun doing this side by side with the DangerBOY as he did some colouring, and he pointed out all the S characters for me... good boy!
Took a while to find the cache, a few circles and up and down the steps a few times, but eventually found the treasure after being a bit more systematic about it. Cheers huhugrub... nice to keep the brain working a bit (and to actually get out and claim the finds after the puzzles are solved.)

Took me a night to solve ages ago then never got the time to come find it. Came out today and all located.
#855. Almost a year after recording a DNF, and getting a heads-up from the CO, I finally returned, en route home from today’s Event in Khandallah. Even so, it took a bit of searching, but finally I had it in hand. The cache bag is pretty ripped, but inside is nice and dry. Nice to change blue to yellow. Tftc huhugrub - missed you two today!
I only discovered this puzzle recently and enjoyed solving it. Today I realized I was reasonably near to its location (not an area frequented by me) and given it was early evening I figured it would be an ideal time to check it out. The great view was obviously the first thing I noticed and I checked that out before turning my attention to the muggle factor and the cache. It looked easier to search than I feared it might be. After a minute or so I spotted something lurking which I didn't think was a cache at all but to my surprise it was. So I signed that then things got "interesting".
There was no wind and I just put things down when an unexpected gust of wind blew an important item (not the log) over the side! Uh oh. Then I realized the place it went was actually in an accessible area. Phew. I then made the mistake of putting the cache back in its hide temporarily whereupon it fell down out of reach. Uh oh. Again. So I went to fetch the escapee which thankfully was just lying on the ground ready to be found. Back to cache where an excruciating several minutes later I figured out how to rescue it using what I had on me as tools. Phew. Again. Just then a car pulled up and I had just put the cache back in the intended manner mere seconds before a flood of people turned up. At that point I was nonchalantly looking out over the harbour.
That's a cache I'll remember for all the wrong reasons. Thanks for the puzzle and great location.

We are caching around Wellington today, ahead of the Pre WENZ event this evening, concentrating on picking up solved puzzles. We enjoy solving codebreaker puzzles, so had no trouble getting the coordinates for the final. Once at GZ we took time to enjoy the stunning view from this spot before beginning our search. Don't know how many times we circled the location before one of us managed to spy the hide. We very nearly had to leave this one behind! Giving this one a Favourite point for the wow final location, thanks.
I love these puzzles, and solved this a while ago. Came by the final location a few nights ago but searching in the dark was fruitless. A daytime visit today quickly gave me the find. All safe and dry here. TFTC
Checked cache is still in place. Please replace container upright for easier retrieval. Do not push it into the corner. Thanks.
Thought this might be a toughie, but the PP needs 15+ more points. Chose a rainy morning to search. Couldn't find anything resembling a hidey-hole in a fruitless search. Wish there were more hints. Back another day.
Enjoyed solving the puzzle very much. Headed out to claim the cache, but had no luck initially. Looked all over, under and around the likely structure. After querying barefootguru who found it a while ago, I had a better idea of where to look (somewhere I'd already tried but obviously not as intensely as necessary). Discussion with another previous finder and the CO today at an event consolidated this advice.
Headed back to GZ with rikjwells after the event and laid hands on it pretty much straight away. We took a moment to enjoy the breathtaking view. TFTC!

Dear Huhugrub, unfortunately the cache container has passed over, RIP little e tin. Rusted... to pieces. The parka is a very cool touch, but rust never sleeps.
Cache log in a very good, dry condition, just needs a replacement container.

Found it. Down the garden path, up the garden path. Nice view.
Simply logical when you read all the comments. Little bu's first puzzle cache. A small pair of hands proved very useful. TFTC. Unfortunately cache has seen better days.

The puzzle I solved easily; the cache, not so much. I searched above, then below, then above again, then below, then...
I was on the point of giving up when I spotted a small hole I had overlooked, with a little something peeping out. Try as I might I couldn't get my fingers far enough to to grab whatever it was. I was grateful for having taken notice of comments in the log and brought a tool for this purpose.
Success! Log signed, cache returned and on my way just as a small family of muggles arrived.

Like the name Was ready for lengthy hunt after reading some of those logs but got lucky in just a few minutes One of only two puzzles from huhugrub that I've managed to solve! Have a couple of others as work in progress (meaning totally stationary) that have me want to pull out hair Thanks for giving me hope with this one
#363. Having cleaned up a couple of the local Khandallah caches nearby, I found this puzzle cache too. My favourite "code cracker" type of puzzle was quickly solved and GZ in hand. A couple of visits to GZ required, with a PAF for guidance needed! Fortunately took along Miss Coops who spotted a possibility, and the cache was in hand soon after. Thanks for bringing me here - I wonder how many people even notice this structure as they drive past every day. Tftc!
I solved this puzzle years ago and immediately admired the cleverness of the cache name. I had made a couple of muggle-interrupted visits to ground zero but came up empty handed. I mentioned this to the cache owners at a recent event and they kindly provided me with a hint that eliminated some possibilities. I returned for another search today and found the treasure in a place I probably hadn't checked earlier. Thanks for a great puzzle and a very good hide that is simply but effectively done.
Took a bit of searching but after reading some previous logs, got an idea of where it might be. Lucky my hands were just small enough TFTC, enjoyed the puzzle!
Two previous visits were unsuccessful, so was pleased to finally nab the cache quickly today. Looked in the right spot previously, but obviously not thoroughly enough. TFTC
#129. Puzzle solved quickly by Mrs GSEL and then she found the cache as well! Great views. First visit to GZ though have been past here many times. TFTP and TFTC.
I've been known to solve puzzles like this for the fun of it!
Cool hide. Came armed with an extraction tool, but Miss Wicm Jnr's little hand did a better job. Getting the log out of the container was a different story... )

Great hide! Took me a wee bit to find, but I got there in the end Picked a perfect day for it too, and even got to watch the ferry my brother was on come into the harbour before heading to the terminal to collect him. Thank you!
Nice puzzle and nice view even with a stiff southerly! Had no problems with the puzzle with some help from mr google. Quick search at GZ resulted in a sneaky cache hide. TFTC

Took a couple of goes at GZ to locate this one but easily found today. Had to use our pen to assist us in extracting the container from it's hiding place. Day 35 of the 100 Day Challenge.
Solved this puzzle with no issues. I managed to get up to the area today. Great views!! I looked around and around a couple of times. Cache is wet but not unusable. TFTC.
Worked this one out ages ago but it has eluded me. I know this spot well as I lived 3 houses up and remember it before ths structure was built and when substation was across the road. Found with UlmusLynx.TFTC
Looked all round the structure also. Eventually tried several possibilities and found the Cache. Found with Selesi. Good view from here.
GPS had me looking all around the structure, but a clue in a previous log had me looking for something specific and cache was soon in hand. Good puzzle, too. Not having a printer handy meant I spent more time setting it up than solving it Log a little damp. TFTC
Solved this one a while back and finally passing by after work. Located quickly without any muggle activity. TFTC
Enjoyed the puzzle which was no problem after the second word. Approached the GZ with some trepidation after the stories in previous logs. Had no problem with muggles and found the cache in the best location available. My hands were even small enough to pull the cache from its hole but the pliers I had brought along would have served someone bigger. Thanks for a well designed mystery cache.
Really enjoyed the puzzle. Did the search in gale winds and rain. Gave up until it eased. Eventually found it after a long search.
Cache # 1,268 - fourth try and finally successful. had to resort to PAF, and glad I did. It was in a place I had previously searched each time, but my hands are too big to get where they need to go, and had to rely on some tools to assist me get the cache out. Signed log, and replaced. Those with small hands, rejoice - this is a cache for you!
My second visit to the GZ, and second time coming away empty handed - quite possibly because AGAIN someone pulled up right after me and spent 15 minutes in front of the area sitting in their car and talking on their cell phone. Is this the new teleconference area of Wellington? Given the thoroughness I've now examined several areas, am sure that the cache must be in an area that does not lend itself to scrutiny when there are muggles around. Will be back.
In need of a smilie for day 43 of the 100 day challenge so I decided to give this one another go after dropping Mel0n to school. Decided to give up on the GPS, use my eyes and brain and think "Now where could I hide something that size?" and Voila! It was only whilst sitting in the car, signing the log that the full significance of the cache name dawned on me.....very clever Huhugrub. TFTC - just managed to replace it and return to the car when a jogger turned up and proceeded to use the area for a stretching post - or were they? I guess I'll never know....
Solved a very long time ago.
Been a couple of times to look, with no luck.
A horrible day, so no muggles around.
Searched all over, and finally found it.

Puzzle easy to solve, and location beautiful. Wellington looked nice today. Unfortunately a couple minutes after I arrived a muggle pulled up in her car, and proceeded to sit there talking on her cell phone. I kept looking out of her sight, but after 15 minutes decided I couldn't take any more time today, and will have to come back.
As these things go, I managed to solve this puzzle twice - with a period of about 18 months in between. So, nice to finally get to this one after that long!
Cache find was pretty straightforward, the more pianist like fingers of my team cacher being what was required. All in order, log signed and safely re-hidden. I get part of the cache name, but still puzzling the whole of it!
TFTC found with team cacher Sweet P too
The Turtle strikes again!

A fairly straightforward puzzle solve, but some subsequent indifferent addition had us scratching our heads a bit ... The views not so good today as they would have been two days ago, but still an impressive panorama. A quicker find than we were expecting, but happy to take a bit of luck! TFTC.
Solved puzzle. Geocheck Tick - Yay! Lovely evening to admire the view. Not sure whether it was GPS playing up, or 'sluggish brain' [|)] , but wandered around, investigated several likely spots, but came away empty handed. Will have another look when I've had a chance to mull things over a bit more.
Solved some time ago, collected today. Took a while to locate as GPS was taking me the wrong way, but finally found it safe in its hiding place. TFTC.
The title of this cache led me to search in completely the wrong areas whereupon I managed to get muggled a couple of times. Luckily I got enough warning to make it look as if I was enjoying the view which really is rather special. Eventually located the cache but then it took just about as long to extract it from its hide. Got there in the end but still haven't worked out the significance of the title. Thanks for the puzzle and the cache.
Found it at last. I solved this many moons ago and had made several visits to GZ, which is always a pleasant experience even though I didn't manage to find the cache.
After chatting to the owner a while ago he confirmed I had been looking in the right place (and a number of others too but had started on and focussed on the right area!) but just not hard enough so it didn't take long to find the cache today.
Took the GC, not often you find ones that will fit in caches this size!. Several other trackables visited.

Find #1240. Solved this puzzle many moons ago - a nice wee challenge for the brain cells without being overly difficult. Located the area of the final on Google maps, and knew the location well - always a popular spot so attempted this early Sunday morning. Armed with the hint and previous finder knowledge, quickly spied the cache in it's hidey hole. Lovely spot in the morning, great views. Thanks huhugrub. SL TFTC.
Solved the puzzle ages ago, then forgot all about it. I was going though my notes and found the worksheet so visited the site last night. Wow! I'd driven past here heaps of time blissfully unaware the thing had been here. A tricky little hide though as I had to go away to study the logs of others and contact one of them to get a extra hint. Quickly had it in hand on the second visit. TFTP & bringing me to the GZ location.
Had started solving this awhile ago, then Mrs SAROC finished off the puzzle while I was at work. Visited the GZ but came away empty handed after searching in a number of places and hoping I hadn't been spotted by the neighbouring muggles.
At a recent event spoke to the CO who helped clarify the issues I had faced (without giving much away). Back again tonight, and after a search located the elusive cache.
Another excellent reason why caching is so good, it takes you to these amazing places. TFTC and puzzle.

I solved this one ages ago in the hope I'd be going past so today was the day. I really enjoyed it. TFTC #3038
I solved the puzzle back in May but by the time I reached GZ I noticed it had been disabled for maintenance. Realized recently I had lost my coordinates so ended up doing the puzzle again. Not a problem as I love these! Took me far longer than it should have tonight due to 1) my coordinates putting me at the other side of the structure, and 2) some low level arachnophobia. Almost needed an implement to retrieve but managed it with my stumpy fingers in the end. TFTC
Didn't have too much trouble solving this one during the week and went out to grab it today. A really nice spot at the GZ with some great views. TFTC!
A quick find for StreetWalker while I was looking in the wrong place. Even in the rain, the view was great from GZ.
Solved the puzzle quite some time ago, and enjoyed it too. The easier half of huhugrub puzzle caches solved and found now! Thanks for replacing the cache.

#2354. Troodles solved this one quite some time ago, and on our first visit it turned out the cache had gone AWOL. Quickly found this time; thanks for resurrecting it.
After a DNF a while ago when the cache was missing in action I returned for a quick find tonight. However the hidey hole is made for hands smaller than mine and I had to hunt around for an implement to extract it from its location. A great Wellington night meant that I could enjoy the beautiful view from the GZ. TFTC
I had quite a good look but still came up empty handed. Perhaps given the comments in the previous log it my be time for the owner to check on the cache.
Spent quite some time searching, but no luck today. The structure looked like it had been painted quite recently; perhaps since the previous find nearly 5 months ago.
Have searched before for this one. Had a good look today and finally found the sneaky hiding spot. Good one. Liked that. TFTC
Solved this and tried to find in the dark on Friday night but no joy, found very quickly in the light of day, was actually fairly exposed so tucked it back in the best I could in the same place I found it. SL TFTC
What a clever hide, the GPS showed 10m out , but found this little rascal in it's hiding spot, , TFTC
Had cross words with myself over this one. Solved the puzzle months ago but kept forgetting to write the co-ordinates down.
At a loose end after work tonight, I popped up to GZ to wrap it up.
Couldn't figure out what the structure was on Google Maps but it all made sense upon arrival.
Quick find with no muggles around on midnight but took a while to dislodge the cache.

enjoyed the puzzle thank you...nice hide ...took my mum for a stroll so she enjoyed the view too.
Solving the puzzle was a family affair. I provided the vocab for the crossword and Huntleigh Junior the mental agility to do the arithmetic in his head. First attempt at GZ turned up nothing and I needed to go back and read the web page carefully including the logs to glean a clue.
Marvellous view today after the fog. Harbour flat calm and two cruise ships on Aotea Quay.
