Clearly gone and not likely to be replaced as the area isn't the wasteland it was back in 2009 when the cache was placed. Archived.
What a shame that we didn’t find it Either it is gone or we are all blind because we searched far and wide, high and low and couldn’t find it! On to try and find the next one close by!
Staying in the area and grabbed a couple caches. While the geo family took a look at the lakes I tackled this cache. Inaccurate equipment initially had me at the wrong location. My spidey sense had me look where in an obvious place, but it was not there. After searching other places and waiting for numerous cars, I had a proper look and it was indeed there. TFTC.
When your a geocacher you never know where you may end up or who you may meet along the way.
Up a little late this morning, had breakfast and then looked at the incoming emails and messages on the phone.
Oh au.fait was going to Cressy and would like a lift as I had indicated late that I was going but she had already passed my home but she returned back while I was under the shower and then we headed off to Cressy in the White Beast as we were not sure of some of the roads that I had indicated that I would be driving on and after the rainy day yesterday we knew that some would be muddy.
It was great to team up again with good company and a navigator to boot.
We could not go past this cache without a look so a quick stop and with container in hand the very full log book was signed.
Thanks to o'cholio for placing.

After completing Area 51 it was a short drive to pick up this one. In hindsight, we should of walked, just to get rid of the mud on our shoes.
Thank you o’cholio for the cache.

Found while caching around Lake Corangamite. Muggle husband thought this was a different cache, i.e. the one I was telling him would take a bit of time and effort and a long walk across the lake. Then I pointed to the structure 1.16 kms away. The look on his face said it all.
Quick and easy find out in this strange place. My cars door handle has become an impromptu dog bowl after a long walk, as my dog has decided he no longer likes drinking from water bottles. Weirdo! Tftc
Found with FUF009.
A 3 day weekend for both of us meant testing the new swags and caching in areas we both had loads of choice from.
Meeting at Panmure and sussing out where to camp was the 1st priority (Lake Ellingamite), then merged into 1 car and hit the trails.
We changed camping location to near Colac for the 2nd night, less bugs more wind.
We had a wonderful weekend with many interesting finds and locations. Thanks to all the cache owners.

Found with sharkiefan on a camping and caching long weekend in the South west area of Victoria.
We visited from Mortlake to Port Fairy to Colac to Timboon and everything in between, and finishing up in Ballarat on Monday evening for the Giff event.
Grabbed this one before taking on Area 51

Found on the way home from a weekend trip caching and kayaking on the Barwon with Beaker & Goitsy. Thanks
Found after the previous days 24 kilometre paddle down the Barwon River chasing caches. Today was a relaxing day's caching with Bucketeer, Ferocious Flea, Goitsy and Scouter 101 collecting some finds while heading home.

An easy find. I enjoyed seeing these lakes today. Some water in them but a long way from being full. Thanks
Found by Flukey Family on drive happy me to Melbourne from Warrnambool. Water in both lakes and little wind today so a good time to visit. Lots of birds tweeting but many cars zooming by too! TFTC
This cache was a great excuse to go for a stroll and get some of that infernal mud of my boots having just completed Area 51. Worked a treat too. Made a quick find where I expected to do so, log signed and returned as found.
Well there is more water than back in '09 but Coangamite has receded a long way again and a dry winter is not helping things.
Quick find in the obvious spot
Cheers

We have driven past this so many times and never stopped. Finally did it! Thanks. Too wet for Area 51 today but spied it with our binoculars.
After turning back from my failed venture to Area 51, I was very happy to have found this one. Despite the barren appearance of the dry lake it was still beautiful in its own way. Cache is in great condition. Thanks o'cholio
After doing Area 51 I drove down to this cache that was a quick find. This is a very nice area TFTC
After celebrating a friends birthday yesterday in great style at Coragulac House, the party then moved to a paddock complete with huge bonfire and camping facilities at nearby Alvie. What better way to spend today but caching with a circuit of Lake Corangamite After the epic walk to Area 51 this was just what was needed, a quick CLEAN find TFTC o'cholio
We had a goal today, and this ended up as a bonus cache! It certainly is dry out here, and I can imagine it on a wild and windy day. Fortunately for us, it was warm, calm and sunny! We said hello to the pelicans on the water. TFTC
I have wanted to do a specific cache in the area for some time to complete my second loop. Times and weather conspired against me, so I ended up completing the loop with a different cache. However, I still wanted to do the cache, and today was the day. So I teamed up with Maccamob and Alansee. This cache is actually right near the parking spot for the cache I wanted to do - Area 51.
Maccamob and Alansee had already done this, so I just went on my own. My thanks for the cache, o'cholio.

A quick ,mud encrustered find after trudging across the lake, thank you o'cholio for the hide.

Continuing my journey through Victoria to pick up caches for the Victorian LGA Polygon Challenge & Victoria Country Road Atlas Challenge. Managed to get another 2 maps ticked off and 7 LGA's. TFTC.
Quick stop to grab the cache on the way past as I drive to Site for work....hot day today but easy find. Tftc
Day 1 of our road trip around Cressy, Colac, Lake Elizabeth and Lorne. Of course collecting a few cache along the way. Many quick drivebys, a muddy stomp with the kids put to Area 51, and a reasonable sunset to finish. TFTC everyone. Has been a fun day.
We had all but parked on top of this one as a navigation point to our chosen milestone find (4000). A miscount had us ignoring this one in order to ensure the milestone remained an out of the norm cache. Once we returned from our trudge in the mud and had changed footwear we wandered over to make the find.
We fond that ants had begun to take up residence in the cache so we cleaned it out as best we could before making our mark and continuing our journey.

After completing Area 51, we headed over to this one and it was an easy cache, thankfully- the weather was shocking. Ended up getting bogged twice... not too bad had we not been in a 4.5 tonne bus! Tftc

While on my way to Portland and parking near this one to head out to Area 51, I couldn't leave without first finding this one.
Once at GZ it was a quick find.

Wasteland indeed. Driving around from the north it did seem like the lakes were full, but it must've been the sun reflecting on the dried salt and a mirage. We did venture some distance into Lake Corangamite and it was mostly dry but muddy in places, but further in there was water. not much though. Cache found all ok TFTC
It all depends on how you look at it. One side the water was up quite high while the opposite side ther were a lot of salt pans. the area is amazingly low and I am surprised that anything grows here. The grass had been slashed nearby and was quite soft with the underlying soft sandy slit.
No problems with the cache.

I had been meaning to return to this general area to grab these newly published hides. I was meeting some fellow cachers at Lake Corangamite at 1:00 this afternoon, so I decided to get an early start. With the combination of a sunny morning and some fantastic country side, this was a very rewarding road trip. Thanks to all of the CO's for their hides. A nice chance to stretch the legs here, after a fair bit of driving. TFTC o'chollio
Still heading north we planned out route due to this part of the road. It looked cool!
Sadly the canal between the two was empty. Maybe it usually is?
A quick find in an old favourite spot. We had to be quick as there was a vehicle with flashing lights constantly stopping, not sure what he was doing.
Great views . TFTC o'cholio

I took the drive to Warrnambool today on a mission for a cache that is taking me all over the state. Once I had completed my goal I then had some time to pick a few caches before I had to return home to the Geelong area.
This little fella was cache number ten for the day and my last. It was found during the drive home. When I approached GZ my GPS was going a it nuts it took me quite a bit past where the cache was located. IN the end it did settle down but had me a far distance away. Eventually I put the GPS away and used my caching instincts and found it in the logical spot.
Thank you o'cholio for the cache and another smiley

Firstly, an apology for my extremely slow logging time (logging this find on 1/7/17).
Today I was driving home from Warrnambool back to Melbourne with the intention of doing a few caches that I would never get the chance to do while in the car with the rest of my family. The highlight of the day was undobutedly Area 51, one of the best caches I've done to date. A find day of driving was had exploring some unknown territory that I have drived past many times before. This cache was the 13th find of 15 finds for the day.
En route to Area 51 I picked this one up before making the plunge. A quick easy find, unlike the nearby one in the middle of a lake...
Thanks o'cholio

Quick grab by the side of the road, luckily in the early morning so there weren't many cars around. Amazing landscape out here in the country! Thanks for placing this cache and allowing me to stretch my legs on a 3-degree Celsius morning!

A big day out down Skipton - Lismore -Cressy way doing a heap of awesome caches with my sister Mia, Ausfox! and friends for a Fab event at the Skipton Caves. This side of Victoria is very different to the East I have seen. Sad to see so many dry lakes out here.
A very dry desert on both sides. Thanks for showing me this spot.

With the lack of water on both sides "wasteland" is quite an appropriate name for this one as flies attached as I hunted this one down. For reasons I can't explain I missed the obvious spot and the search took longer than it should as the wife and sleeping kids waited in the car. Geographically a fascinating spot with mt elephant visible from a distance. Tftc
