We thought that roadworks might thwart our hunt for this cache but we were able to get to GZ where we found a very colourful tortoise. The cache was located after a short search. The cache and contents were in good condition. Thanksqldflash for the cache and for bringing us here.
The turtle has had a makeover since we were last herr. I wasn't a geocacher then.
WA Big Trip Winter 2024. Day 143 - Augathella to Miles via Morven, Mitchell and Roma. I set myself quite a long day today and I even had a few caches available to find along the way. It was a steady day of driving with a nice break in Mitchell for some Labs as well as a cache or two. The temperature has been dropping the further east I have come so it has been nice during the days and getting a little cold at nights. A great change from only week ago. I stayed at the Miles show ground and cooked dinner at the van. Tomorrow is th shortish drive to Toowoomba. This was right on the corner where some road works have begun. No one was here, just a parked car. I stopped near the sculpture and started to look. I had failed to locate this one last year, but today, it was in the first place I looked. I hope I did not miss that last year, but anything is possible. Thanks for the cache qldflash49100.6 TNLNVisited: World Traveling Gold GC A#6 & State Medallion - California A#227**Albida**

Out for a country caching run with ilook4geo and enjoying the day. There was no problem in finding each of the target caches and all logs were signed. Thanks go to qldflash for placing this cache. FP added for the artwork on display here.
Enjoyed driving through the countryside with goinplaces2 and caching as we go. Had a successful day and signed each log found. Pleased there are so many caches to find in this area. TFTC.
After reading all the previous logs we looked for the obvious and voila we found it , very well hidden indeed TFTC
Unfortunately this was our only DNF for the day, despite a clear description from our PAF. It looks as though it is missing.
We searched for ever left and came back and as they started leaving I had one final hope and found it definitely fun
QOGM 2023 Longreach Day 29. Traveling from Roma to Chinchilla via Miles. Fitzy_1965 and Albida33 are on our trip in early spring to Longreach. The journey home is well under way and today was a morning caching around Roma before heading east to get to Chinchilla and find an area of caches we have not been to recently. There were several caches along the way and even one old one that was an interesting walk in the searing sun. We had a quiet afternoon in town recharging for the last few days to get home.Despite Fitzy having found this one, we failed to locate it today. wow it is hot and sunny when you make the fourth lap around. Oh well, maybe I'll be past again one day. Thanks.Albida
It’s happening, it’s finally happening! Alyce and I are going places and grabbing caches while on our way to QOGM.
Our day started early in Caboolture South and with the car packed and a list of caches dialled in we were on our way. We made our way along the Dag’ Highway to Blackbutt and Yarraman then down the New England Highway grabbing a few caches in the vicinity than arriving at the Warrego and taking that all the way to Morven while stopping at several places in between. Unfortunately we had to leave it at that due to fading light and made our way to Augathella for the night.
What an adventure! The places you visit and the experiences you have is something else.
Thanks for bringing us here.

We stopped by here and I had a chat with rocky the turtle. It didn't answer back once!! An easy way after a short search. TFTC.
bunadoorian and I were on our way to Augathella today and this cache was on our to pick up list. So pleased we stopped here. I loved the turtle. TFTC and for bringing us here qldfish. A favourite point from me.

We are now on our way to Longreach for the QOBM event next month. Today we headed off from Miles and onto Roma, where we will stay for the night. A great opportunity to grab some around the area.
Stopped off here and made a quick find. Loved the paint job and something to clown around with for the travel bugs.
Thanks qldflash for placing this cache and doing the maintenance, so we can enjoy finding it.

Would never of known the turtle was here unless we were looking for this. Tyftc
With my geo team divided, I was on road trip with the family and the new geo dog. This was a quick easy find at an interesting stop
Catching up on logs from a recent road trip. Saw this on our way out west and had to stop. Just knew there would be a cache there! Really loved this piece of art and its significance.
This was rather cool.
Greyhams and I have been on a mission to see as much of Australia and visit as many of the LGA's as possible for some time now. This trip was Queensland, flying into Brisbane and a full 8 days on the road stopping for as many of the caches of interest we had time for as we passed through.
Leaving Brisbane northwest was our direction, as far west as we could go all the way to Birdsville. Of course, it is a Geocaching trip so it zigged and zagged as needed to cover the areas required. Yulaba, Charleville, Barcaldine, Ilfracombe, Longreach, Windorah, Birdsville, back to Windorah, Quilpie, Thargomindah, Cunnamulla, St George, detour to Moonie for a FTF, Wyaga, Warick and the home run back into Brisbane for our flight home.
Love the driving as we left behind the trees and entered red earth and sparseness, always a surprise though passing through areas of yellow grassy plains, although generally open flat land in all directions was what greet us. Wildlife was in abundance and never have we seen so much. Emus dominated for 1000's of km, cattle as we passed through their grazing lands, but also pigs in numbers we didn't expect. Echidnas, goats, horses, a giant goanna, foxes, and birdlife that does well on the overnight roo casualties. Still no camels though, they have to be out there somewhere!
The country hospitality was a highlight, great friendly people, Queensland hotels full of history and character. They all were great but the Wellshot in Ilfracombe needs a huge shout out for being the stand out of this trip. Leaving the car at Windorah and flying into Birdsville not only saved a day of driving but the scenery flying low over the countryside was spectacular and memorable.
Also memorable was waking up on the second day with the best case of laryngitis I have ever experienced... no voice, none! To top it, it lasted the full trip only returning by the end, I'm not sure if I pity GreyHams for having to deal with me squeak in an attempt to talk and silenced, or he had the best trip ever!
The days were full, either full of km's or caches but never dull with so much to see or do. The caching grounds are rich thanks to the QOGM events, it's definitely a great location to hold them. Many thanks to all the CO's for your caches that helped guide us as we travelled through Queensland on a great trip.

How to get all the counties, or councils, or "LGA's"?....... well, I have learned the hard way, albeit quickly, to do the "hardest" ones first!
We could have just driven from Canberra to Perth to get the amount of kilometres, but instead we thought we would push ourselves a bit harder, drive a bit further.....and do the south west corner of Queensland!!
It has to be said now....Queensland is a bloody large state. I mean ridiculously large! We drove east back to Brisbane for almost three full days! Yes, we stopped for a series of letterboxes, and all of the 'county' areas, and even a FTF, but it was ludicrous!
After our flight from Canberra, and collecting our rental, we head off west from Brisbane, on a mission to collect every LGA we could get.
Aquilus1 lost her voice after the first day, which made the rest of the trip much easier for me....I had to do all of the talking, and it helped I could argue both sides of every argument....and I always won!
Outback town hotels and pubs are so cool, and I love stopping at them. When I started caching I was wary as I only knew city pubs, which are very, very different.
I tried many a schnitty, and the odd steak, pizza or burger.... this truly was the outback pub tour of Queensland.
The Qantas museum was a special highlight, as I am a proper Qantas fanboy......I have done waaaay too many miles on the red roo!

After Karicka’s Moveable Feast Event in Roma this morning, the group has gone in different directions and I’m now in the back seat of Karicka’s very angry ute with him and Davinells up front…
It didn’t take long to spot this familiar container… and it was nice to have an explanation of the name…

Day 2 of my outback travels and the start of my Queensland Outback Geocaching Muster trip for 2022. While Triple Turmoil and I headed out to meet up with the others, it gave us time to grab a few caches along the way. We were aiming to be at the campsite at a reasonable hour so as we could set up in the daylight and see what is around at camp. This was all in readiness for our continuation from last year’s event and a very successful team collaboration with Willis007 and Jacs Team.
Today was a drive from Miles to Charleville, grabbing caches and adventure labs along the way. It was a fun day and we found all caches fairly easily. We signed the logs and replaced caches as found. Thanks for the hides and maintaining them
I got to revenge a DNF of previous times. Soooo Happpy to get this one.

I passed straight this one at first which made me feel quite stupid as I use these caches myself. Log was full and I signed down the side but then added a new log. Love this location. Take a FP.
Today was just a short trip as we wanted to check out Judd's Lagoon. What a good excuse to stop at every cache along the way.
All caches were found easily thanks to the good coordinates and in good condition unless noted on each cache log.
Thanks to all the COs for placing and maintaining these caches. All logs were dated and signed.

Day 4 of our trek to the Townsville Mega and back with fitzy_1965 and two of my geo-kids Death_killer & my_name_jeff_1.
Long haul for us today as we head further north. Travelled from Goondiwindi, through Roma and onto Emerald: arriving well after dark. We splurged again on a cabin for our two night stay. The air conditioning is something we could get used to very easily LOL. Only collected a handful or two of caches today but ticked off a few more counties along the way.
All caches were found quickly and easily unless otherwise mentioned.

27,419. Found with minniek during our Grand Townsville Trek up to CacheQLD's Townsville Mega Event over Easter.
Day 4 of our Townsville Trek, and our third full day on the road. This was a big day's travel but we did manage 15 caches across 4 new LGAs. After spending the night at Goondiwindi in the tents, we headed north up to Miles, west across to Roma, then the long haul north up to Emerald. We decided on a cabin in Emerald as we were to be there for 2 days. This was the next find of the day, and we enjoyed wandering looking at the objects. Quick find at GZ (only two circuits - lol). Signed the log, replaced the cache, then continued along to the next cache on our list.
Thanks qldflash !!

Day 3 of a road trip to Townsville to with LuckyL10n and today we drove from Surat through Roma, Muckadilla, Wallumbilla, Taroom, Theodore, Eidsvold and Mundubbera were we finished for the day.
Lots of different caches found, all without any major issues. We dodge the floodwaters around Surat although the bridge is certainly under threat of going under in the next few days.
Thanks to all caches owners. Most logs were signed SDL / L Lion.

#13568 - 11:39:00 AM; Day three of the Townsville Mega adventure with Sol de lune and after spending the night in Surat, set out to collect the local caches before heading further afield. It would be a long day on the road as we added counties to our caching maps. The many places visited included Roma, Muckadilla, Wallumbilla, Jackson, Taroom, Theodore and Eidsvold and on to Mundubbera for the night. We were a bit apprehensive due to the previous DNF, but quickly had the cache in hand as it turned out! All caches were found in good order unless otherwise noted in the logs. All logs were signed L.L10n and Sdl or vice versa. Apologies for the largely generic logs [:o)] TFTC qldflash
Doesn’t mean it’s not there!! Think my brain was a little overwhelmed with all the rocks lol
Continuing my journey west, I came to this cache. Wow! What is that doing here? It put a smile on my face. I was distracted by all the painted rock as I circled the artwork. It took me two loops to spot a familiar shape [:o] I signed the log, replaced everything as foundm then continued on my way. TFTC
My husband and i are on our way home from a little road trip. The first stop was Goondiwinid, then Cunnamulla and last night Roma . Today we are heading to Toowoomba then home to Brisbane. What a great place for a cache. Thanks for taking us here and for placing this cache here for us to enjoy

Last day in town. Time to make the trip home. Thoroughly enjoyed our time out west. Already started planning the next trip!
Today was day 8 of 9 long days of travelling and caching for us. Long, but fun. This was the Roma to Chinchilla leg of our trip. Took us too long as it was under a rock. Lots of photo opportunities though. Thanks for bringing this to our attention, otherwise we would have driven straight past.
Found a metal minion on the north side and a rocky tortoise on the south side. Lucky no one has tried to take this one for a drive.
Well, this journey started about 12 months or more ago, skip 2020 and we find ourselves planning a long-overdue road trip. This means one thing ... a cache run would be involved. One or two different routes where planned caches were studied, some more than others (manly puzzle styles), and a plan was hatched.
It includes the most number of puzzles we have ever solved personally, Wherigo's, and even a few 'FTF' (FTF) FTF caches. The distance that was driven is approx. 3500 km. Over some 10 days. 14km of muddy, red, and black soil 4wd only slip-sliding heart-pumping road - which we got through without incident only to get bogged a while later on the side of a tar road doing a U-turn.
The total number of caches found is yet to be determined, could also depend upon my logging them, as those who know me also know my lack of logging or length of time to do so could mean the correct total will never be shown. Still, it’s not about the numbers.
Logs have been signed with any one of the following, JABs, FWBs, TasReach, MEMO, or TR. Often depended upon who was signing the logbook, time of the day, length of the days caching run, sleep-deprived state, condition of the logbook. Penned often in the first available spot (except in the case of new cache), in between other cache's names. Hopefully to help extend the life of a logbook. The date was not often recorded, again to save room and maybe a little time.
Distance travel is undetermined, basically, fly from Hobart to Brisbane, drive northerly to Gympie, out through Gayndah, Monto to the Westwood, and then turn west straight out to Longreach, with a part-day layover to collect all those 92 solved puzzles. Home is hopefully via Jericho, south through Mexico and into Blackall then down and cross to Roma, Toowoomba Brissie and fly home.
Meeting up with great family friends of ours to share part of this journey MEMO, the cache name TasReach or TR for short was born, been both Tasmania and Longreach. So wished each cache could have its own story, but in that case, I would never finish logging. So I thought a long story was better than a TFTC. But hey thanks for the cache anyway.
JABs.

Day 1 of of a Queensland road trip with EatSleepCacheRepeat and JACS Team - Brisbane to Roma. We spent the day slowly driving (is there any other way for geocachers?) to Roma and picking up the odd geocache here and there. No real targets beyond a couple of older caches.

Today was the third day of my little journey to and around outback Queensland. While I’m not in a hurry, I do have a list of caches that I do want to collect along the way and probably some extras as I see fit. It won’t be hard to continue my challenges of a trad a day and a cache a day challenges for the next few days, I am also hoping to pick up a few new challenges along the way and some target caches too.
After my great night stay at Lake Broadwater, it was time to move on and head towards Tambo which is my goal for today.
Some I needed for challenge caches and some just seemed too good to pass up.
Did not find this one spent 45mins here searching every rock , well I think I got everyone, no luck. Maybe an extra hit may help.
Great stop tho, thanks

Driving along and wondered what we were going to find. Arrived at GZ and knew straight away, it was a resonable quick find. Stamped log and replaced. Thanks to qldflash.
Great little spot. Thankfully we'd seen one of these containers before so we were able to make a quick find.
