Found and log signed. Visited this historical site before prior to our geocaching days. Country music song Clara Waters is a favourite, its about the deaths in the railway camps in the early days. TFTC
Day 2 on way to Big Red Bash with a couple of other Rollers. No luck with first in Chinchilla but snagged this one. 1/ for trip. #1033TFTC
It was getting very hot by the time we reached this location- 30! After a quick find of the cache I spent some time reflecting the tough life of our pioneer ancestors reading the sombre plaque nearby.
Day 120 of our greynomad trip up north from Vic which started in June, and day 119 of a streak. With QOGM done and dusted for it's final year we are heading the caravan towards home, well sort off. Heading east first to tick off some LGA's, and this is one we have targeted for that reason. This one is not a T1 either, infact the cache was well stuck and required pliers to extract (not that it is the CO's fault)TFTC TB's visited
It’s happening, it’s finally happening! Alyce and I are going places and grabbing caches while on our way to QOGM.
Our day started early in Caboolture South and with the car packed and a list of caches dialled in we were on our way. We made our way along the Dag’ Highway to Blackbutt and Yarraman then down the New England Highway grabbing a few caches in the vicinity than arriving at the Warrego and taking that all the way to Morven while stopping at several places in between. Unfortunately we had to leave it at that due to fading light and made our way to Augathella for the night.
What an adventure! The places you visit and the experiences you have is something else.
Thanks for bringing us here.

First find on our way to QOGM 23. Found with silverfox1970 and firebatman88. TFTC.
Well my trip up to QOGM has officially started and I’m taking the very indirect route up to outback QLD to get there.
So after cruising up the Hume to Sydney then the M1 and A1 up to Byron Bay with a few other roads in between as I have been cris crossing a bit so it is time to start heading west.
I have never been up this way before so it will be interesting to see what towns I come across in my travels.
After spending the night in Texas I was heading to The Pink Pub at Dulacca for the night.
Continuing along the Warrego Hwy on parts that I haven’t travelled on before.
So there to things to look at here read about both and always remember to buckle up.
Thanks qldflash TFTC.

We are now on our way to Longreach for the QOBM event next month. Today we headed off from Miles and onto Roma, where we will stay for the night. A great opportunity to grab some around the area. Different and challenging hides.
Stopped off here and made a quick find.
Thanks qldflash for placing this cache and doing the maintenance, so we can enjoy finding it.

With my caching team split up. I decided to try my luck on the road trip out to Charleville. What a sad story this was and a great example of how hard life was back then. This was a nice easy cache off the highway tftc
Staying at Dulacca tonight on the way to a gorge, had to get a couple of caches before the end of the day.TFTC
No problems here!

How to get all the counties, or councils, or "LGA's"?....... well, I have learned the hard way, albeit quickly, to do the "hardest" ones first!
We could have just driven from Canberra to Perth to get the amount of kilometres, but instead we thought we would push ourselves a bit harder, drive a bit further.....and do the south west corner of Queensland!!
It has to be said now....Queensland is a bloody large state. I mean ridiculously large! We drove east back to Brisbane for almost three full days! Yes, we stopped for a series of letterboxes, and all of the 'county' areas, and even a FTF, but it was ludicrous!
After our flight from Canberra, and collecting our rental, we head off west from Brisbane, on a mission to collect every LGA we could get.
Aquilus1 lost her voice after the first day, which made the rest of the trip much easier for me....I had to do all of the talking, and it helped I could argue both sides of every argument....and I always won!
Outback town hotels and pubs are so cool, and I love stopping at them. When I started caching I was wary as I only knew city pubs, which are very, very different.
I tried many a schnitty, and the odd steak, pizza or burger.... this truly was the outback pub tour of Queensland.
The Qantas museum was a special highlight, as I am a proper Qantas fanboy......I have done waaaay too many miles on the red roo!

All good here and found well today.
Greyhams and myself have been on a mission to see as much of Australia and visit as many of the LGA's as possible for some time now. This trip was Queensland, flying into Brisbane and a full 8 days on the road stopping for as many of the caches of interest we had time for as we passed through.
Leaving Brisbane northwest was our direction, as far west as we could go all the way to Birdsville. Of course, it is a Geocaching trip so it zigged and zagged as needed to cover the areas required. Yulaba, Charleville, Barcaldine, Ilfracombe, Longreach, Windorah, Birdsville, back to Windorah, Quilpie, Thargomindah, Cunnamulla, St George, detour to Moonie for a FTF, Wyaga, Warick and the home run back into Brisbane for our flight home.
Love the driving as we left behind the trees and entered red earth and sparseness, always a surprise though passing through areas of yellow grassy plains, although generally open flat land in all directions was what greet us. Wildlife was in abundance and never have we seen so much. Emus dominated for 1000's of km, cattle as we passed through their grazing lands, but also pigs in numbers we didn't expect. Echidnas, goats, horses, a giant goanna, foxes, and birdlife that does well on the overnight roo casualties. Still no camels though, they have to be out there somewhere!
The country hospitality was a highlight, great friendly people, Queensland hotels full of history and character. They all were great but the Wellshot in Ilfracombe needs a huge shout out for being the stand out of this trip. Leaving the car at Windorah and flying into Birdsville not only saved a day of driving but the scenery flying low over the countryside was spectacular and memorable.
Also memorable was waking up on the second day with the best case of laryngitis I have ever experienced... no voice, none! To top it, it lasted the full trip only returning by the end, I'm not sure if I pity GreyHams for having to deal with me squeak in an attempt to talk and silenced, or he had the best trip ever!
The days were full, either full of km's or caches but never dull with so much to see or do. The caching grounds are rich thanks to the QOGM events, it's definitely a great location to hold them. Many thanks to all the CO's for your caches that helped guide us as we travelled through Queensland on a great trip.

Day 4 of our trek to the Townsville Mega and back with fitzy_1965 and two of my geo-kids Death_killer & my_name_jeff_1.
Long haul for us today as we head further north. Travelled from Goondiwindi, through Roma and onto Emerald: arriving well after dark. We splurged again on a cabin for our two night stay. The air conditioning is something we could get used to very easily LOL. Only collected a handful or two of caches today but ticked off a few more counties along the way.
All caches were found quickly and easily unless otherwise mentioned.

27,415. Found with minniek during our Grand Townsville Trek up to CacheQLD's Townsville Mega Event over Easter.
Day 4 of our Townsville Trek, and our third full day on the road. This was a big day's travel but we did manage 15 caches across 4 new LGAs. After spending the night at Goondiwindi in the tents, we headed north up to Miles, west across to Roma, then the long haul north up to Emerald. We decided on a cabin in Emerald as we were to be there for 2 days. This was the next find of the day, and another leg strength. Quick find at GZ. Signed the log, replaced the cache, then continued along to the next cache on our list.
Thanks qldflash !! Another oldie picked up.

On the way to Roma with my youngest we were stopping to collect a few caches as we went. A quick find and sign here. Tftc!
A nice quick find despite the GZ being wet and muddy. Great to see some rain in this area. I urge fellow cachers to read the plaque and sign, and imagine how hard it would have been for the families of the railway fettlers.
I’m now going to find the lyrics to the Slim Dusty song mentioned on the sign.
Many thanks to the CO for this cache.

Today was day 8 of 9 long days of travelling and caching for us. Long, but fun. This was the Roma to Chinchilla leg of our trip. The lid is cracked.
Another quick stop just off the HWY, it's all about the timing getting on and off the road.
Well, this journey started about 12 months or more ago, skip 2020 and we find ourselves planning a long-overdue road trip. This means one thing ... a cache run would be involved. One or two different routes where planned caches were studied, some more than others (manly puzzle styles), and a plan was hatched.
It includes the most number of puzzles we have ever solved personally, Wherigo's, and even a few 'FTF' (FTF) FTF caches. The distance that was driven is approx. 3500 km. Over some 10 days. 14km of muddy, red, and black soil 4wd only slip-sliding heart-pumping road - which we got through without incident only to get bogged a while later on the side of a tar road doing a U-turn.
The total number of caches found is yet to be determined, could also depend upon my logging them, as those who know me also know my lack of logging or length of time to do so could mean the correct total will never be shown. Still, it’s not about the numbers.
Logs have been signed with any one of the following, JABs, FWBs, TasReach, MEMO, or TR. Often depended upon who was signing the logbook, time of the day, length of the days caching run, sleep-deprived state, condition of the logbook. Penned often in the first available spot (except in the case of new cache), in between other cache's names. Hopefully to help extend the life of a logbook. The date was not often recorded, again to save room and maybe a little time.
Distance travel is undetermined, basically, fly from Hobart to Brisbane, drive northerly to Gympie, out through Gayndah, Monto to the Westwood, and then turn west straight out to Longreach, with a part-day layover to collect all those 92 solved puzzles. Home is hopefully via Jericho, south through Mexico and into Blackall then down and cross to Roma, Toowoomba Brissie and fly home.
Meeting up with great family friends of ours to share part of this journey MEMO, the cache name TasReach or TR for short was born, been both Tasmania and Longreach. So wished each cache could have its own story, but in that case, I would never finish logging. So I thought a long story was better than a TFTC. But hey thanks for the cache anyway.
JABs.

Heading to Carnarvon Gorge for a few days we stopped here to find this older cache. It's hard to imagine all those people camping here over 100 years ago.How tragic to die in childbirth at the age of 17. A nice easy find before heading into Roma.TFTC
An easy find at a memorial to fettlers. You have to admire the pioneers as this would have been tough country once upon a time.
Interesting read along the way. Thanks for being me to this spot to remember our pioneer for fathers. TFTC
Hi there qldflash.
We found your cache **"Below .05 buckle up"** today.
We came to Miles as a stopping point on our way to Blackall, but as there are so many caches we've decided to stay for a few more days. Today we diverted to pick up the caches between Condamine & Miles. We found 7 caches & DNF'd 0.
Thanks for placing the cache here, without geocaching as our guide we would never have found so many interesting places on our travels.
**Coordinate Accuracy:** We found the cache almost exactly where our GPS said we should be looking.
**Cache Condition:** The container & log are in good condition
Thanks for the hunt today,
Regards
Ian & Penny

Driving out to the Roma Easter Festival. It’s helpful to hunt smileys because one of our passengers has been car sick. I agree this would make a pleasant roadside stop. TFTC
Thanks for placing this cache to help break up what was a very long drive for us today. This historical site might have been missed had it not been for our hobby. Appreciate the quick find. Thanks for the cache. All good here, coordinates spot on and cache dry. Recommended for those looking for a quick smiley. Cheers
Today was the third day of my little journey to and around outback Queensland. While I’m not in a hurry, I do have a list of caches that I do want to collect along the way and probably some extras as I see fit. It won’t be hard to continue my challenges of a trad a day and a cache a day challenges for the next few days, I am also hoping to pick up a few new challenges along the way and some target caches too.
After my great night stay at Lake Broadwater, it was time to move on and head towards Tambo which is my goal for today.
Some I needed for challenge caches and some just seemed too good to pass up.
A quick grab here and on to the next. All good with this cache and with the log signed I returned it as found; thanks for placing it here.

In preparation for this one I listened to Slim Dusty's Clara Waters... yeah I admit ot, I had ot on repeat for a while then had a Slim Dusty hour or three. A lot of appreciation (fp point) for location, getting me to listen to Slim Dusty, and for the history. Well worth the stop.
I have often wondered where the notice naming Clara Waters was located along the railway line/highway. Now I know. Found OK, although the cache container is suffering from flattery! TFTYC, qldflash.
I believe this hidden little spots are important locations for geocaches. We took a moment to reflect on those who have walked the land before us and how tough their lives must have been compared to the indulgent lives we live nowadays. TFTC.
