Phheewwww just got there and geohubby in law had already got it. Ah well now for the trip back
That climb through the bat cave! Wow! And then I find its only a terrain 3! Oh well, not bad for an old girl. we found a quicker way down. Was actually found by geohubby!
Wow that was so worth the scramble up to get this photo and find the cache. Lid is missing from outer container but inner is intact but not much suitable paper to sign. Managed on a scrap. Thanks for bringing us to this amazing place
What a cool cache. Made the right choice on which way to go and easily got thereCant believe I put the wrong date. Sitting in a cafe at Monto and realised it was the 7th not the 10th.Time to visit Qld again. Up visiting family and doing some small road trips. Thanks for getting me out and about d.d.dudes
Found this the hard way I think. Was a nice climb up the rocks. Container lid and top is broken off so a new container would be good. Now .... how do we get down???
Missed seeing the bats but found the cache- may have taken a different route than normal .
This walk is not to be missed.

Found after trying to go up the outer route. Got to a few meters from the cache and a bit too tricky for us so back down and all around on an easier way to the top.

This was an awesome Cache, had us a bit stumped at first but once you get through the cave it all made sense. one of my favourite caches so far
This walk had we wondering how does a cave have 2 storeys. I can see where the name came from. Some great views from the top.
Cache was in plain site and is missing its lid on the tube plus I think some muggles have been signing it. We tucked it back in a bit more.

On my way from Canberra to North Queensland with a few detours for shires. TFTC.
I was close to GZ though I think took the harder direct route.
Next thing phone is playing up and couldn't get satellites. Did everything until opening up Google maps asked for Location Services. That fixed everything
Funny thing was that I did all this sitting on a comfy rock just 2 metres from the cache. Nice.

Yesterday Dez(JezNDez) and I successfully completed a FTF walk out to the Castle Mountain Lookout covering some 25km on our journey there and back (including a few detours). On arriving back at the car we noted that these caches were just across the road but our feet were so sore that we could not contemplate taking another step. Instead we headed back to our accommodation for a swim and a nanna nap, with the promise to return today to finish them off.
And so we did, after a walk out to the Overhang and Dragon cave. After yesterday's exertions we so nearly decided to give this one a miss. So glad we didn't as we passed by some spectacular rock formations and even better views of the surrounding area. I'm not sure whether we turned off the track too soon or too late but our route up to GZ did not appear to pass by the bat cave unfortunately. We scrambled our way to the top and soon discovered the prize waiting for us. Thanks for placing this cache in such a scenic spot.

We do love a cave to explore and this one had a little climbing involved as well. Great fun! And no bats disturbed either. I left M down below in the shade and ventured up and up and even more up until I'd located the cache. An incredible view from GZ!

Was good to see it was still hiding in the same place as it was in 2010, and the view was just as pretty and I remember

We actually missed this one for the day.. this reason will bring us back here one day.. would love to go back after recent rain to see what a difference it would make as very dry at this time.
Pprime, 1MinnieMoo, and I hoofed to this one next.. with the cache.
The container was found in a very peculiar position - not exactly in a place that would be considered "signal bounce". We repaired the beast and took it back to GZ with us. Sort of like doing some kind of reverse geocache? Hmmm...
The last part was "taxing" on the old Fangsoki - but I made it in the end. I will be going the "smelly cave" option thank you very much. We placed the cache where we thought it belonged and then headed off.
A great place to visit. TFTC d.d.dudes

3/5/21 Find #4784
Fangsoki, Pprime and I were joining KBreeAHH and Ponchomon11 for a long weekend in Cania Gorge. With slightly different dates of stay in the group, we said farewell to KBreeAHH and Ponchomon11 early yesterday but were here for one more night ourselves.
This morning it was time to pack up our things and complete just a couple of shorter hikes before beginning our journey back home. This was our final hike here today. And I must admit the body was a little weary after all the hiking this weekend, so the up certainly felt a little more exhausting than it normally would for this hike.
Luckily for us, KBreeAAH and Ponchomon11 had already found the cache at the start of the weekend a far cry from the location it was supposed to be at, and in rather a sad state, so we scrounged around through our belongs - I found a small sistema, and Pprime found an emergency logbook, and we placed these items inside the original cache to keep it up and running.
Arriving at the cave, we debated just which way we were supposed to go. Pprime chose the outer option but my head kept saying “well the CO does say access via the cave”. Besides the cave does look rather interesting.
There were no bats to be seen here today, but the smell the further through you go makes it rather apparent that this is indeed Gotham, I mean Bat City.
With cache placed in the spot we felt was most likely and matched our coords, we then toddled off on our way back via the Earthcache this time before beginning the journey homewards.
Thanks for the cache d.d.dudes.

A great long weekend away camping here with KBreeAHH, ponchomon11, 1MinnieMoo and Fangsoki. Today is our last day and time for a couple of final hikes. Finishing here. And a great finale to the trip this is. Knowing some TLC was needed, we came prepared, and after the efforts from KBreeAHH and ponchomon11 rescuing this cache from it's ignoble situation I am very pleased to state taht this has been left refreshed. The walk up to the batcave itself was fine, but with 50-60m still to go this is where it became fun. I chose the overland route - not much more than a scramble - and others went into the smelly cave. But once on top, the views were worth whatever effort.
Thanks d.d.dudes/storkers for entertaining me at this location.

The walk here was nice even though the plan was to do this tomorrow but plans change and we decided to head up to the cave today. Leaving the track to head to gz the first attempt was aborted as the climb was getting a little hairy. Further investigation found an easier way up. Once the location settled the search began. After some searching of the area I was beginning to think this was gone. As I decided to give up suddenly I spotted it. Lid missing but contents dry. Log book looking a little worse for wear but still able to sign. Now off to explore the cave. WOW.
Thanks d.d.dudes for the cache.

Interesting adventure to find this one. The cache container is broken and needs replacing.
Revisited this cache as it has an awesome view the container has no lid needs attention
Needs a new pen and clip lock bag. Seems some animals have explored the cache as the lid is missing. In pretty poor condition.
Quick and easy find. Crawl up the bottom cave entrance to get to the second cave and you can see and smell the bats. Enjoyed this one.
Been awhile, wish Mintie was still with me. This was our favorite one here at Cania.
I wouldn't say the terrain rating is adequate for this cache.

Found with geokidalexis this morning. Wasn't sure where the batcave eas but we found the right spot. Beau viee. Tftc
Walked from the campground to the start of the track then headed up clockwise. No ferns in flower but a few small flowers by the track. Got to the Batcave then a bit further on MrT headed up the slope to look for the cache. Found it but cache still needs maintenance as container has no lid or pen. Luckily he took A pen and Signed log and returned as found. TFTC
What a spectacular view. Without the cache, would have never gotten here, so thanks!
After being a bit put off by the hint finally had a find then enjoyed the view before heading back down. TFTC
Lovely and coolin the cave.........oh and lets not forget the bats!!!!! Cache container and log in poor condition. TFTC
TFTC. Beautiful views, lovely walk and bats. What a way to complete my day. Adding a favourite point for this one.

TFTF, Wow.
Great spot, could sit here all day.
The cache has no lid & the log needs replacing. Still managed to sign & re-hid (same place) so hopefully it will stay dry.

Found it. Great place for a cache. A really great walk and look about on our way to some earthcaches for the day. Alas we spent so long scrambling our way down from kroombit that we don't have enough time to do the longer walks today. Definitely on the "to do" list for me though. Cache itself needs a little TLC, but so far the essentials are ok here. Tftc
Found cache hide spot but no cache or log paper but I took photo to show u if right place!
Found it but in absolute terrible condition
Its missing the lid to the container and the zip-lock is looking quite holy too
The log book was soaked - suspect from the little bit of rain we got the night before
Really needs a good bunch of TLC
The Batcave was really cool to see though.

Found with beckster22, we took the long way round to find the cache. the bat cave was amazing we took a few photos.
We are staying at Cania Gorge for a few days and today we ventured out for a couple of th walks. This was first. It was very hot but we enjoyed the walk.. After checking out the crevice we continued onto the Bat cave. Climbed up into the cave and was able to get some photos of the bats. We decided not to go out the top and made our way round and scrambled up to GZ what a great view. After a few minutes search the cache was found. Thanks d.d.dudes a favourite added.
Thru the cave and to the cache. Alas, the junior cacher had taken the pen out of our pack so we are unable to log. I did however take a pic of the log book, I wonder who these cachers are? Will check out the cache history when back online. Another great walk in Cania

What an awesome hide this is!
Enjoying our stay at Cania Gorge, we decided to do this loop and grab the Earthcache on the way round. Arriving at the cave we entered and headed up to the second story to be greeted by a great whirling of bats flying around our heads. Once they had settled down we were able to admire them without further disturbance and they posed nicely for a few photos.
Emerging through the upper entrance we followed the arrow to a great viewpoint and while Mr Herbz was attending the the camera, Mrs Herbz made the find. Coordinates were spot on. As mentioned in previous logs, the lid is missing, but due to it's nice dry location, the contents are in good condition, so not a major issue.
Once the formalities had been observed we decided to head back down a different route. We quickly realised that not many people went this way but we persisted knowing we should meet back up with the track soon. As we were skirting under the cliff, what do you know - we found the cache container's lid ! somehow it must have been dropped and fallen down here, we were exactly under GZ. How random is that. We took it with us and snapped a picture of it at the cave entrance for posterity. Will post it up soon.
The lid itself has disintegrated beyond use and is in pieces, so no use at the cache. But at least we know what happened to it now.
All in all, a very memorable find and an FP from us of course.

The bat cave had me going – didn’t walk through but kept walking around thinking there was a trail but in the end did the scramble up & taken easy way down – will give it a favourite for the location & challenge - TFTC / TFTH / SL NOTE log book may need to be changed if it rains for a period of time.
A fantastic walk up to the cave to try and grab this cache. GeoAJ climbed up through the bat cave to the second storey, out through the second storey balcony and up around the rock to the very top. Cache was found snuggled in a very dry location. The return trip was made around the back of the formation and not back down through the cave. A favourite for this one from us for the grand adventure. TFTC
Found all the obvious clues, including the appropriately positioned ones, but yet no luck! It has been found just days ago, so perhaps we should return if we have the time and give it another search!
Yes a fabulous view, thanks for the geocache otherwise we would never have climbed!

We found the cache in the open. The caves where great along with the view. The lid is still missing but other than that it is in perfect condition. You have to climb up high to find it. Thanks alot for placing the cache.
On our [trip around the world](http://www.hoppundweg.piekar.de/) we came to Australia as well. We started in Tasmania, rented a campervan in Melbourne and went up the Eastcoast to Cairns. Then we drove all the way to the Red Centre. We finished in Darwin. We searched many caches and found almost every cache we searched for . Thanks to all the owners of these caches. Now, 2 years later, we recognized, we will never be able to log every cache seperately... So: Sorry for this standard logtext and thanks for one of the caches, which accompanied us on our journey.

What a fantastic approach to a cache. Left the Geokids with the Geohusband at the entry to the cave having a spot of morning tea. Clamoured up into the 2nd of the 'Two Stories', before making the short walk to GZ, enjoying the great views along the way. Approached GZ using intuition more than the phone GPS, but spotted the cache quickly as it was sitting in the open with no lid, the bottom full of water. Surprisingly the log was dry (no plastic bag) and I could make out the log entry from some muggles a few days prior (no online entry).
I signed the log, emptied the water, located the missing lid at GZ, placed the cache in a manner to stop it from filling with water, then returned the way I had come to meet back with my Geofamily at the cave entrance.
Certainly a favourite point from me, there are not many caches with such a tremendous approach to GZ, and a view to boot!
Thanks d.d.dudes, from one excited Geomum.

Didn't have a pen that worked but anyway nice view and good cache. The container is broken though but I only read the previous logs after I was up there. Tftc
Found this one this morning with Pa. Just as well he was with me as I doubt I would have been able to make the climb by myself. Thought we had found the easy way up and was dreading the descent, but Pa to the rescue again, found an even better way to get the cache. Knees certainly would not have bent far, enough to get down the way we went up. Always feel good when I get one that challenges me.

Had to have 2 goes at this one. First time there was 1,000 's (well, seemed line thousands) of mini - muggles having lunch. Waited for what seemed an eternity and then decided to abort. Came back the next day and decided to go up the "down" track as that was only 500 metres to GZ. Geowife thought she saw a short cut, but I decided my way was best ( of course) , so she decided to stay put and sit on the rocks . Looked around for abit , turned around a few times and there it was! Had walked right past it! Opened it up and damn, no pen! Had left it with the Geowitch, bellowed for her to bring one up - Nuh, not a chance, apparently my suggestion for her to grab a stick and fly it up wasn't received all that well. What to do??? So I have grabbed a stick, soaked it with hard earned sweat and dirt and made my mark . Now I have to fight my way down dodging the many rock missiles coming my way:)

Kids loved this one. Good bit of exploring through the cave and up through the manhole. Out the top. Previous comments were mis-read and time was spent near the cave entrance looking. No luck. Hint. Trust the coordinates... Good job again. Found it. As per previous comments, need to repair the container or replace. We didn't have anything with us. Thanks guys.
Found this one after a bit of a serious bush bashing climb as I couldnt find the way up via the cave. The canister is in need of repair ASAP as the lid has completely disintegrated and no longer useable. I put back as best I could.
I sure went about this cache the hardest way possible! On a solo mission to Cania Gorge for the day and first up was the Two Storey Cave Circuit. It was damn hot out, but still early enough in the day to be getting hotter still. I had jogged most of the circuit and enjoyed the features around the nearby earthcache before heading to this cache. Initially I wondered if I had to go bush, but the track just does a switch-back. I followed it and it led right to the cave.
At this point I felt the best way to the cache was most direct. I knew it was up top, so figured find a rocky section to clamber up. While I found a decent route up, it was not without a slip or two and not without vigilant checking of each handhole for anything with teeth. It must have been too hot for reptiles as I saw nothing of the sort.
Up the top a few things struck me. First was the view up the gorge. A perspective I have not had of the area and I spent a long time just standing on the ledge, soaking up the breeze and taking in the glorious view. After being confined down below to between boulders and sandstone cliffs, the dam in the distance seemed a hundred country miles away. Magnificent. The other thing was that somewhere below my feet was a cave, not that you'd know it otherwise. It made me wonder if in other places there are caves we walk all over but never know it.
So onto the cache and for some reason this took me many minutes. I feel like I looked under every rock within line of sight of a tree but finally found the right spot. It is quite obvious and the co-ords are good, but I am apparently half blind. I pulled it out. The container is in a bad way, but the contents are dry thanks to a baggie and being under a flat rock. I also now realised I left my pens behind. I left behind a Queensland Mega business card instead. I did though, have a good time reading through the other log entries before I replaced it all as found.
I headed back to the track the way I came and felt the need to explore the cave. A young family was having morning tea inside, out of the sun. I squeezed past them to go exploring. I get why they call it 'Two Storey Cave'. disappeared up into the manhole (which the family was surprised was there) and went to look at the bats, happy I had a torch on me. I then noted you could go up and out of the cave another level, which I did. from there it is easy to get to the cache - I wish I knew this 20 minutes ago!
So, geocache found, track walked, views seen, cave explored.. I figured I was done here and it was time to head off for another nearby adventure. Definitely a place worthy of seeing and I am stoked the cache was just off the track, offering a marvellous viewpoint. A favourite from the day for me. TFTC d.d.dudes and Storkers

We were staying at the nearby caravan park. At the end of a warm day, we'd had a little walking and a couple of caches. I was cooking pad thai on the camp stove and was thinking about walking up to this cache after, to try my luck. Geohusband wouldn't be conned, so after 8pm, I dashed off with the torch, GPS and a small map of the walks to try it alone. Playing dodgems with the occasional cane toad on the way, flipped a coin and chose the left track. Looking up as I walked was worthwhile now and then, I was rewarded with views of steep rock faces. So much for a cooler evening, the sweat was dripping, or do ladies only perspire?! The best fun was the cave. I had walked past, watching the GPS, then realised the cave really was the means. Disturbing a couple of bats (had they slept in?), up I scrambled, looked around to see where to go..., ahh, I see! This is the sort of geocache I enjoy. A bit of scrambling then a straight forward placement. I just had to watch out for where steep drops were, while checking the GPS. I had to scratch my head a little, then shone the torch on the right place. Yay, found it! The container's lid has broken, and no pen was in place! I had chosen a bad time to leave without a pen or pencil, so no writing logs tonight.. Came back late the next morning with pen and geohusband after walking the Giant's Chair circuit. Wow, so much more to see in the daylight! The rock scrambling seemed to be harder this time, strangely. Marsupial/mammal nut geohusband checked out the bats before I dragged him away, and this time at the cache I signed the log and looked at the view. What a splendid location. TFTC and the fun.
3-9-13 found by geopartner difficult to find only using GPS look for the track north of the cave.
Enjoyed this walk, pity about the new virtual cache which went unnoticed, geogranny waited patiently while I made the final assault. Top outlook from GZ tftc
Geo-hubby rules Instead of going through the cave he went around it and found the prize , SL, TNLN, TFTC
This is a very special cache for CacheCruisers4x4. Twelve months ago whilst holidaying at Cania Gorge and exploring all the bush walks, we were introduced to the world of Geocaching by accident. We had explored the two storey cave and found the track that led up to the 'lookout'. Our geoson (then muggleson) was following a skink around when it went under a rock. Upon lifting the rock not only was the skink found but also a container, what the............. We were then introduced to Geocaching and have been hooked ever since we logged on when we got home. We have had some great experiences over the past twelve months and explored some great places that we may never have been to, so on this day we would like to thank the world of Geocaching and especially d.d.dudes for introducing us to the wonderful world of Geocaching. Today we 'officially' log this cache. Left lobster, took nothing, signed log.
I visited this cave (and this cache) twice during our stay at Cania Gorge. First time on a solo circuit walk and the second time on the date above with the entire family. I've opted to log the second visit, because of the longer! route I took to get to the cache.
During our five day stay at Cania Gorge, I had been eyeing the 22 kilometre hike to Castle Mountain lookout. Today was our last full day, so there was no more days left for procrastination. I got dropped off at 0730 at the carpark and set off for my first destination, Bloodwood Cave. Whilst enjoying the view at Bloodwood Cave, I stripped off the warm clothes and beanie. I didn't feel like hiking back to the Gorge Lookout track junction to continue my journey, so I climbed up iver the rock ledge at Bloodwood Cabe and trekked off track across to the Lookout. Some early morning photos from the lookout and I set off on the 10 ks to Castle Mountain lookout. In the main, the walking was on a cleared fire trail, which looked like an old logging road. It was easy going walking through the Spotted Gum forest, though not particulary scenic until I arrived at Castle Mountain lookout. Wow, the view here all made up for the long walk.
I was hot from the final uphill stretch to the lookout, so I changed out of my thermal pants and took a break. A million photos later, after a morning snack and a drink, I headed back, arriving back at the carpark and picnic area at 1315 to meet the rest of the family and partake in their BBQ lunch.
After lunch, we took on the Two Storey Cave circuit. The kids loved King Orchid Crevice, but that was only a favourite for a few minutes until we arrived at the Bat Cave and climbed through both storeys to the top. A short walk and the cache was revealed and duly signed by the kids and I. The views back up the valley from near the cache were great. However, I nearly had a nervy turn trying to keep 5 kids under 10 years old away from the cliff edge.
We returned back down through the cave. I was glad of a shower and a beer when I got back to camp.
Thanks for the cache, d.d.dudes. A favourite from me.

It was a spectacular afternoon for a walk up to the bat cave. After a quick visit through this familiar spot I went up on top to find the cache. It was a quick find in a neat spot with a great view. Unfortunately my pen was not working and there was no pen with the cache so the logbook went unsigned until next time. Also the cache was a bit flattened and the lid was damaged - it would not hold out the water if there was a bit of a downpour.
TFTC.
TFTC.
Found at 1030pm. Great cache! Lid a bit damage! But still dry! Great hide and full moon so a bit of a view. Imagine what it is like during the day:). Had no pen in it! Good night cacheing/caving:). Love to return during day. Took a bit to work out y GPS was giving close readings while in top cave:). TFTC
Great climb, well worth the climb. It was our first but will not be our last. We are addicted already.
I parked the geomobile at the picinic area
Only one other cache was parked at just after 9:00 am on a Saturday.
Where was everybody ?
Ah well, all the better for a quiet walk and a cache find
And it soon became apparent that this short walk is a beauty
A gentle climb up to the cliff faces gave no hints as to how spectacular the rest of the walk was going to be.
I recommend heading anti-clockwise around the circuit for maximum enjoyment !!
I approached the Batcave, but saw a likely way to the top before I got there
Up I went and what a view !!
It is a different world on top of it
The cache didn't want to show itself for quite some time.
Which tree ? Which rock ?
Eventually I found that the rock which I had left my backpack sitting on, was the rock hiding the cache
Oops !!
Poor old cache !!
Looks like the rock has split in two and with all the backpacks being left on it have squashed the container a bit.
The lid is cracked and only useful now for holding a plastic bag over the open end of the tube.
But the cache lives on and everything is still dry inside
Lots of muggles find this one too !!
After rehiding the cache, I followed a footpad off to the south and found the top entrance to the Batcave [:o]
I lowered meself down into the top story and found the narrow passage to the bottom story
I guess that was the intended way to get to GZ
But from the cave entrance you would never guess [:o]
TFTC and loads of fun D.D.Dudes [^]
