Making our way towards home over the next few weeks travelling with 2 dogs and a cat we have found caching a great way to give the fur babies a break. Stopped in Broken Hill for a few days and toured around with the help of local geocachers taking us to spots that locals know about. Thanks to the COs for placing and maintaining

We took a drive to Silverton today and have been surprised about the quirkiness and interesting history of this town. We then decided to continue our journey further out of town and came for a walk after parking the car to this Hide. An amazing drop off just below us. Thanks Domsky

15-Nov-23
Continuing my adventure, I decided to head out to Silverton for a look around. Of course, I found a few caches while I was here, too. Following the GPSr in the geomobile, I came to a track that I couldn't enter. I spotted another track a few metres away, so went along that one. That took me along the top of the "canyon". That was an experience! Eventually, I got to a spot where I realised that I may have been on the wrong side of the "canyon". My phone is known for not being accurate, so I searched for a while before deciding that the cache must be on the other side. I drove back along the top of the canyon. At the end, I drove past the track that I couldn't enter, then spotted another track heading in the right direction, so I followed that. Before long, this track petered out to nothing. Surprised I was so close so I decided to persevere. Eventually, I came to another track and an area not far from GZ where I could "park" the geomobile. I strolled over to GZ and quickly spotted the caches' hiding spot. With my name added to the log and everything returned as found, I continued on my way. TFTC

Freddo and Team Waldron headed to warmer climes around Broken Hill, Cobar, Bourke, Cunnamulla
and Charleville.

After a cold start in Broken Hill the weather improved once we got further north. Sadly our last night in Broken was wet which, pardon the pun, put a dampener on things.

All up it was a great week away and lots of caches were found with only 3 dnfs.

Thanks to all who placed and maintained their caches. The occasional cache was damaged and we refurbished it and we also left new logbooks as required.

A quick find.

Cache is 15m north of the coordinates.

Freddo and Team Waldron are heading north for a long delayed trip to the caching fields of Cunnamulla. This cache was found on our journey. Caches were fixed where necessary. Fresh log books added. Containers refreshed.

Warning, this hobby can be addictive. It can lead to exercise, meeting new people and finding interesting places you might not have known existed otherwise. Beware: you may have fun.

Almost a drive by. I'd never have found this cutting if it wasn't for this cache, just amazing. The cache has really deteriorated. The lid is crumbling away. Luckily someone put an inner , so the log is somewhat protected.

Here for Easter from Adelaide revisiting places we used to visit when living here 25 years ago. Thanks for the memories and great caches.

Together with my son, I am on a camping trip from Sydney to Broken Hill and back. On our 3000 km journey over 11 days we have seen some wonderful little towns, beautiful landscapes and many interesting geocaches.

At first we were on the wrong side of the ditch and could not drive any further. But once at the right side, the road led straight to the cache, with only a few meters to walk.

Up this way for the weekend with Purrfect Di.
Seeing some sights, taking some pictures, located your cache!

Interesting area - they seem to be digging up some of the tracks to slow us down!
You need to be careful here - easy to follow the GPSr into the ditch, but turn around carefully and a likely spot soon revealed. No rabbits today though!

Thanks opted-out user for placing and maintaining this cache on our ever growing Aussie geo-map Cool

Driving and hiking around wherever we can - searching, spotting hidden items and signing cache logs using some or all of the resources of GSAK (Geocaching Swiss Army Knife), Whereyougo, Garmin Montana 750i, Montana 680t, Etrex 35, Samsung S21u, Samsung S9, with Geocaching App, c:Geo, or Geooh Go, and Android Auto and other maps... or often with just a guess or plain old dumb luck WinkCoolBig Grin
Plenty of the luck stuff actually !!!

*All the online logs are composed and published with GSAK of course.*

Warning ! Caching is a very hazardous activity!
Look out for sand, mud, floodwaters, snakes, surprise cliffs, roos, wombats, things falling from trees, bulldust, and floods, and try not to get tetanus from rusty mint tins and don't fall off your ladder...
-- -- -- -- -- -- -- and do watch out for bugs !!! . [xx(]

Ensure Travel Bugs are the Only bugs you share and pass on Wink (Covid cancels caching!)
Keep a safe distance - cache the countryside Big Grin

Great of all those placing quality caches out and about around the country areas,
in sensible safe places especially! - it keeps our game fun, and interesting Cool

Really appreciate you reading all this extra addition to the log word count! There's a challenge somewhere out there, apparently! You win a virtual smiley for the effort and getting to the end of the log Wink Maybe if I worked out where I could do it and go back to normal logs again ! If you find the challenge let me know and we can put an end to these long logs !!!

Only 35 years between visits to BH and Silverton I started off my minibreak with a trip out here. Scooped up all the caches bar the one I couldn’t get to and had fun exploring.

Hmmm this location could get interesting if the driver wasn’t paying attention. Is that whopping big hole in the ground manmade or natural This cache kicked off my 4WD adventure out this way.

After a very hectic day we managed to escape SA, Ending up in Wentworth way after midnight. This morning on day 6 of our road trip it was re planning time, no caches for hundreds of kilometers either way. So we ended up heading to Broken Hill and Silverton. Great caching day, but again very hot!

Omg epic!!!! 3 approaches. All madness. Through the cutting in the car. From the bottom. Back through the cutting in the car. From the top. So glad we finally managed to lay eyes on this thing!

Stopped in here as part of our Great Western County Hunt. It has been a truly incredible trip, as I managed to pick up the last four counties I needed to fill in my NSW county map. A super exciting thing to complete. Thanks for enabling our crazy adventures. Thanks for the cache.

Well that was epic! We tried this one from 3 different directions. Finally found it just as I was phoning a friend. The 2wd x-trail has covered quite a few terrains these holidays. TFTC

Found while taking friends to Silverton pub for lunch. Hot day today so only a few caches found today and we’ll save some for next time. Tftc.

On the way back from the mine, we hoped to pick up this one (great excuse for me to get a closer look at the railway cutting too!). As we approached we still had 70m to go ...oops must be on the other side! Fortunately the distance closed as we moved along the cutting, and a suitable hiding spot appeared. Thanks for the hide.

23-Oct-20
Headed out to Silverton this morning to find all ten caches in the area and to beat the impending thunderstorms that were forecast for the afternoon. Really enjoyed driving the 4WD tracks out to the mine site and around the nearby hills, taking in the scenery with the thunderclouds looming over the horizon. We were very keen to complete the Silverton caching foray before the rain set in, and luckily we did as these tracks would have become impassable (even the sealed main road from Broken Hill to Silverton was closed for the afternoon and next day!). Thanks for the cache S.E.S. Team!

Headed out on a 10-day trip to outback NSW with fitzy_1965 and albida33.

Day 5 saw us touring around Silverton collecting as many caches as we could along the way. We detoured out to the Day Dream Mine tour which is well worth doing. In logs we signed as MK, F65 & A33.

Quick find here today after a fun 4wd out here.

Day 5 - A full day spent caching and touring around Silverton, finding many interesting caches along the way. This was the next find of the day, and after a fun 4WD drive out it was a quick find at GZ. Signed the log, replaced the cache, then it was off to the next one.

Thanks S.E.S Team !!

First went from the wrong side and had an adventurous 2 wheel drive through the cutting! Wow!!!! Then came and found it from the right side. Thanks!!

I must admit mad max wasn’t my top film, but it certainly made my top 100 so it was great to go to silverton to check out this historic town. I was going to find most of the caches west of the town but realised time was limited, so this cache was within easiest reach. I was on the wrong side of the chasm, but I managed to traverse to the cache side. Dangerous. Tftc

We tried to go to Silent Hill but could not walk up to the cache. So we drove part way back and stopped for morning tea overlooking Silverton. Then into Silverton for a couple of other caches before we realised we had skipped Rabbit Holes. And where was it? Right where we had morning tea! Anyway, found the cache and loved seeing the rail cutting. Thanks for the adventure.

Very interesting town.

Here is a blurb about us
We are trying to get a badge ,the author ,from project GC for writing found log files of 100 words or more. Once we get this badge we will stop writing this. We are also trying to get badges for adding photos to our found logs .
We started caching in December 2019 and by January 2020 we were hooked. As we are on the road full-time, living in a caravan for almost 2 years now, caching fits in well with this lifestyle. It is taking us to places that we would normally not have gone. When we move to a new place we also look at what caches are in the area and how many days we will need to be there in order to get the caches we want.

We are in Broken Hill for a few days and will try to get some caches in town and surrounding areas. We hope we can make a few smilies here to add to our find tally. We are looking forward to the variety of hides we will encounter. Thank you for your work in placement and ongoing effort for maintenance of caches.

16-Jun-20
Time for a little trip in to the outback of New South Wales. A bit of a holiday and if you are on a holiday you cannot drive past a cache without collection some on the way. I had my Geo Chauffer driving me around to collect some cache.

Found this one while staging in Broken Hill we decided to head to Silverton and see what was on offer out here. Lots of rabbit holes in here and more to come I am sure, watch your step or you may end up in one.

We found the cache, signed the log, replaced it back in its little hiddy hole, then on with our adventure to find the next one. Now we have logged it.

Thanks for placing the cache here guys. LilDonna

As we arrived we were delighted to see a couple of donkeys enjoying carrots from folks at the pub before wandering up to the bakery where we are told they are sometimes given pies to eat
Shortly after that three folks arrived with three camels to complete this iconic scene

While in the area we also did a bit of four wheel driving around Umberumberka Silver Mine and later to the now empty Umberumberka Reservoir and then enjoyed lunch back at the Silverton Hotel.

We looked for this one while driving along the train cutting but soon opted to try an easier track and the cache was soon in hand.

Many thanks for the hide lil team of hunters

Nomads travelling in their caravan around Australia. We have been on the road since July 2011 and discovered caching in August 2013. We travel with a bunch of travel bugs belonging to our sons and grand children. Where ever possible, we will maintain your cache as we travel.

Finally in Broken Hill, taking a week off touring the town. Today we visited Silvertown - for its history and caches.

Drove the cut out, which may possibly be the old tram line. Got to within 5 metres, but at what level? We realised we were not in the right spot, probably up top.
