With bogonghazy and littleboss 2 for a few days of caching and golf in and around Mildura.
Found with Bogonghazy, sorceysal and Geo dog. Spent a week enjoying the Mildura area caching and playing golf. Thanks bwpbwin for placing the geocache
Found by The Empire + HAs we hit the road, the Calder Highway stretched out before us, winding through picturesque countryside. The sun was just beginning to cast its warm glow over the landscape, and we could already sense that this journey would be special.Driving from Melbourne, through Bendigo to Mildura is a scenic journey that takes you through the heart of Victoria. The landscape slowly transformed as we journeyed through the heart of Victoria's agricultural region. Vast fields of crops and grazing livestock painted a picture of rural life in Australia, reminding us of the country's agricultural heritage.Fruit flies are notorious pests that lay their eggs in fruit, causing damage and rendering the fruit inedible. When infested fruit is introduced into a fruit fly-free zone, it can lead to an outbreak of fruit flies, which can devastate local crops. This poses a severe risk to the agricultural industry, which is often a primary source of income and employment in these regions. This is reason number 1,000 of why I don't eat fruit. H had to smash 2 mandarins before binning the peels. A quick stop here to grab a this one. Thanks for the cache bwpbwin.- M
Southern Autumn adventure Day 60. Mildura Trip Day 9. The time had come to start heading home, but I did not want to go directly and was keen to visit Echuca to finish the River Travel Adventure labs. It turned into a long day and it started with some detours as I started south to get my first batch of caches done. Then I set out following the navigation device and let me say, it is not the way I would have gone, there were some very narrow roads, but no dirt. I then passed a county I had not been to before, but missed the Map section I needed, that was annoying. My day ended with a walk around Echuca for a few caches and the LABs along the water front. It was well and truly dark by the time I reached my roadside camp for the night.

I had a few days leave so Mrs JTreeTrack2 and I decided to pack up the car and head off to where it is slightly warmer (than Ballarat). So North to the Murray River, Swan Hill and Mildura then home through the Wimmera. What is a trip without some caching, so some caching we did, not heaps but enough to leave some more smiley faces dotted on some new parts of the Map.
Heading back to Ballarat, so a few stops along the way. A short walk and a quick findCache signed and returned as found.
The Cache is happy and healthy.

#12977 - 4:50:00 PM; Day 3 of the Wang Mega tour with Sol de lune. We didn't quite get to Echuca last night, but we did enjoy comfortable accommodation and a great meal at the Falcon Hotel on the highway right next door to the Downunder Dunny. After collecting that cache, we set off for Echuca and a spot of caching in and around the town, avenging a couple of GCA DNFs from our previous visit. We then hit the Murray Valley Highway again as we headed west before turning onto the Mallee Highway near Piangil, then the Calder Highway at Ouyen for our next overnight destination, Mildura. No problems getting our names into the log, before continuing on our mission. TFTC bwpbwin
After a couple of great days in and around Wang at the Mega, followed by a drive to Echuca, LuckyL10n and I were now on the road from Echuca to Mildura. The plan today was to stop for a few selected caches...those that looked good, those with a few favourtie points..as well all the regular and large caches we could find.
Left Echuca around 9.30am, arriving in Mildura around 6.00pm. All caches we attempted were found, apart from the one that was completely burnt out, so all up a good road trip. Now home
and it's time to log.
Thanks to all owners the along the way, and apologies for the generic log.

We are staying in the area for a short visit with ilook4geo and just picking up some of the local caches. This one was a nice easy find and both names were stamped on the log to note our visit. Thank you to bwpbwin for placing this cache.
Caching around the area with goingplaces2 and having fun. Had a successful day and this was one of the caches we found. TFTC.
Geocaching is leading us to towns and LGA’s we’ve not visited before. We forgot about the fruit fly bins until we pulled over here at the sign. We had a nice afternoon tea of fruit and fruit under the shade trees, then dumped the rest.
Thank you for your cache nearby and adding to our memorable road trip in regional Victoria.

Today was My last day in Mildura, I finished off any solved puzzles I had to do and a few other caches I passed by, once they were done I followed the Silo Art trail down to Rupanyup and then across to St Arnaud to do the labs there.

TFTC. We had spent the last few days in Mildura finding the caches in the PS series. We we’re now on our way home to Maryborough. A four hour trip that took over seven hours to complete. Why let a cache go by. We are not up this way very often, so we decided to make every post a winner on the route home.
Heading to Mildura with feathertop today. She had already found this so she rested while I walked over to sign in.

Found after dumping all our remaining fruit. You’d think we’d have learnt after last time.

While I was out finding this cache I didn’t see too many vehicles stopping to deposit fruit. Hope that means they didn’t have any with them TFTC and highlighting the quarantine station here

Day 2 of this years Christmas holiday trip. On our way to Adelaide (from Canberra) collecting answers to one of the windmill cache multi's. A quick find, thanks bwpbwin
Suscoe was heading to Mildura this morning from Ouyen and we had a number of caches to visit as we travelled northwards.
It was a delightful day, blues skies, a breeze from time to time and a top temperature in the high 20's.
We enjoyed this section of caches hides and saw some interesting country as we headed along the highway and the byways.

Another oldie and a regular too, very nice. A quick stop and easy find.
Trip log... GreyHams log says it best, in all its glorious detail... so it really is, 'What he said!'
With GreyHams we set out for another chapter of our caching challenge... To find all the counties in NSW. We flew into Adelaide early Friday morning with a return plane from Melbourne Monday night. Taking advantage of some super cheap car hire driving one way from Adelaide to Melbourne. Of course, as a four day road trip it leads into collecting as many counties as was possible as we pass through SA and Victoria as well, with a few side trips for those that were close enough.
The counties a high priority but many caches of interest, the oldies are always great, about 16 2001 caches found plus many others just as old. Web Cams, virtuals, great DT which would see us complete our fifth loop of the DT grid, large caches and lots of regular sizes too. The trip list also included a cache type of each we were missing for each state as well.
Simply, if we stopped for a cache that had made it onto the list, it was not just any random cache, it was selected for a quality of some type we were seeking.
One of the harder things about caching after flying somewhere is that all the TOTT are left behind...usually! So it just had to be done and we took an esky with us on the plane for all those fabulous cold drinks along the way.
The thing I love the most is that we also took a ladder with us on the plane too!
We had targeted the 'on your bike' wherigo series, so many puzzles, so many hours of them so the ladder was important if we wanted to find all the high DT, up the tree caches... which we did! Later in Ballarat we went 'above and beyond' with the ladder once again. A truly essential item to have, we may now need to invest in that inflatable Kayak for future adventures too!
Perhaps it must be said that our route was the least direct way we could have traveled via the Hay Plains and Griffith, but covered a lot of road, counties and locations leading to yet another great trip. Although a number of park and grabs, made closer by our reliable and tough SUV, we also managed a lot of walks, hills, bush, and just a great variety as we explored the different areas.
We crossed the Murray river many times, a lovely healthy looking river system. After our recent trip from Adelaide to Sydney, via Broken Hill and Bourke the dry rivers out there are a very sad sight compared with the Murray.
With so much achieved that we had set out for it was a very successful trip but also an enjoyable one with many memories made and a new batch of stories too! Thanks to all the CO's for there caches that lead us in our travels.

Aquilus1 and myself are on a mission.... to collect all of the counties in NSW! but how to get to those 'hard to reach' ones from where we are in Canberra? It would be an awfully long round trip. The answer was supplied in the super cheap car rental deals available if you drive one-way from Adelaide to either Sydney or Melbourne... I guess too many cars do it the other way and the cars need to get back somehow. Flying to ADL on points meant fuel was by far the biggest transport cost we paid for.
This trip is actually trip number two.... to drive from ADL to MEL, via Hay & Griffith! Yeah, thats logical! It was fun explaining where we were going to people, we got a lot of strange looks. The first trip was ADL to SYD, via Bourke. The bonus of course is we have also cleaned up a lot of SA & VIC counties as well.
OK, so primary goal is counties but we of course had 5 or 6 goals. Oldies was definitely a priority, I think we picked up 16 hides from 2001 on the trip along with lots of 2002-2006's. D/T of course is never overlooked and we did well there, I think we will almost complete our fifth loop from this trip. Webcams, Virtuals and Wherigo's were all targetted and finally getting all cache types in each state.
Day 1 was us arriving in ADL at sparrows, with a ladder and esky that we checked in and driving as far as Barmera. We cleaned up the 'On Your Bike' series where the ladder really fulfilled its purpose (I never want to see another online jigsaw again!) and even stopped to grab the LBH on the way out.... after 9:30pm, and after I attacked the dirt road with my body and left a lot of skin on it. Note to self: dont lunge at dirt roads! Luckily the hotel in town was open and we obtained fine lodgings. The floor creaked when I looked at it, or breathed, or changed my mind, but the bed was the finest.
Day 2 was driving to Hay, apparently on their biggest day of the year! No motel had rooms but luckily the new hotel that was supposed to open next week was forced into opening on the very day we arrived.... I like fresh sheets but how about a bed that has never been slept in! The crossed the Murray about 5 times and it was always impressive. We saw the country side change hugely from Rivers, Mallee and the Hay plain.
Day 3 was going from Hay, around Griffith and actually turning south towards Melbourne.... it felt like a long way! We cleaned up a bunch of the counties, in fact all of them, west of and including Naranderra. My map on Project-GC is going to look so green! We got as far as the outskirts of Bendigo, stopping at the first Motel we saw.... it was better than it looked!
Day 4 was getting to the airport, which we did with heaps of time to spare. Checkin closed a huge 18 minutes after our arrival. Damn, we could have grabbed another cache in that time. Ladder back in its box and checked in. I love the fact we took our own ladder!
Now safely back at home I am already suffering from caffeine withdrawal, but thats the price you pay for living on Coke for 4 days.
Sorry for the long generic log, but it was a fun trip and I wanted to share.
On a short break and drive heading for Mildura with a view of grabbing a few caches to fill in some missing New South Wales and Victorian LGAs along the way. Driving around some of the back roads we stopped off for this cache. With the cache in hand we signed the log and replaced as found. Both the cache container and log are in good condition. Thanks for the cache bwpbwin.

An opportunity to attend 3 events in 3 states in 1 day [|)] saw Rex and I driving to and from Mildura for the weekend [^]
Muggle partner came up from Adelaide too for the weekend
Over the weekend I found 41 caches, had 3 DNFs and attended the 3 events
Sadly one of the main caches that I had hoped to find was not attempted because apparently geocachers are NOT faster than speeding bullets
Seems there needs to be another trip back to Mildura too as I didn't even start the new turtle geo art
All in all a fun and tiring [|)] weekend with lots of driving!
Driving back to Shepparton today and 1 DNF with 16 finds
I spent 2 hours on the phone with a good friend who is having a hard time at the moment and also learned that Skyping in for peer supervision isn't a good idea
We had no forbidden fruit or veggies to leave but we stopped on the other side and found the cache
