Our NEW ZEALAND - TASMANIA - AUSTRALIA JOURNEY takes us to beautiful places and provides us with an incredible number of wonderful moments and experiences.Occasionally we also visit a few GeoCaches along the way. After an almost spooky... quiet night here at the campground..., we hiked after breakfast... first along the Panorama Trail, then along the Trephina Gorge Walk. We were able to sign the guest list here very quickly....Thank you for placing, maintaining and caring snapfish2 from SwitzerlandPS: Translated with the Deepl app
gorge-us2.5/3.5 Regular Traditional Cache Found at S 23 31.119' E 134 23.762'Was highly recommended by Steph from the Tourist Info and Heart Foundation Walkers Group to explore this side of the MacDonnell Ranges. And since there's a cache/s here, why not? Thank you for the cache fixedonfind.
Did a very quick scramble up the path for this cache and a few photos then back down to rejoin the tagalong group. Certainly got the blood pumping tftc
Easily find after a pleasant walk along the cliff top TNLNSL nice to see a larger cache out here
Out for a nice walk this morning after staying the night. Found the cache pretty easily thanks.
An impressive walk with plenty of ripple rocks along the way. We're going to continue the gorge walk and thankfully the cache was a quick find TFTC
We decided on swing the Ridgetop walk to the lookout and back. We grabbed this on the way to the lookout as we weren't sure if we would do the gorge walk on the way back. We found this one pretty easily as gps was quite accurate.
Bag has disintegrated but everything is nice and dry.

We forgot to download details before we left reception but managed to find this using the GPS. Muggles close on our heels we decided to head nearby and find a rest spot for a drink. Perfect choice as it turned out - we almost sat on the cache! Log signed, snack eaten we carried on happily. TFTC
Lots of places to look but found it after getting phone reception at Turners lookout and downloading this cache.
Went for a walk in 36 degree heat and hoped the view would be worth it. The view was worth the walk. have another fav point. Found in the last place i looked.
Mogni and myself went to the Northern Territory for a 10 day holiday. We drove 5478 km's in those 10 days. The plan was to go up the Sturt highway and then go via Ayers Rock, King's Canyon and then through to Alice Springs stopping at the gorges/chasm/gaps along the way. As you can expect nothing goes to plan. Day 1 Adelaide to Cooper Pedy, made it just before the Roxby Downs turn off and blow the side wall on the tire of the 4x4, 193 km detour just to get a tire and even then it was the second tire place that had the tire the correct size. We had camels come in to the campsite in Erldunda Roadhouse, they even left hoof prints 1/2 a foot from the tent, at King's Canyon we had dingo's come through the camp ground both nights we where there and at Alice springs we had a mouse move in under the tent in their campground. Some of the aboriginal towns we passed where in lock down because of covid 19 so no going in to get fuel there, that changed some plans. The floods where way worse up in Northern Territory than i realized. Some creeks/rivers i could see the debris over 2 meters from the river bed and down one 4x4 track it washed the road away completely, the hole was 3/4 the length of the 4x4 and over 6 foot deep. The temp was 33 to 36 for 9 of the 10 days and finally cooled down for the drive home. We got 7 different caches types in the N.T. plus every different cache size. It was a good trip but not the one we planned. To many of the roads in the N.T. where damaged and not repaired ( still closed ) so that cancelled plan A but that's just a excuse to come back isn't it. Come back and see what you missed last time when the roads are fixed. We came with 19 regular " geocaching size " containers and a milk crate of small containers by day 7 all the regulars where used as replaced caches and by day 8 the smalls where gone. It was the UV rays a lot more than the floods that killed the caches and almost all the log books where saved, the micro containers seemed to have constantly full log sheets so they where replaced too.

Sir_spectre and I went on a long overdue holiday to the Northern Territory. We had some great experiences and saw some amazing natural wonders. Not all went to plan - covid closures, flood effected roads, renovations, hot weather, some car troubles and not forgetting the huge jump in fuel costs

We did the hike up the hill to the cache. It was not too difficult and the views of Trephina Gorge were brilliant. The cache was found easily. I picked up a pathtag and left a TB here.
Found with Mosaikmum and Agelessone while on our holiday trip through Queensland and central Australia TFTC
Found while on a great walk in a great location. Found with vk2rg and Agelessone. vk2rg replaced cache container and Agelessone picked up a trackable. Signed the log. Left a pathtag and a trinket for the geokids. TFTC!
Extraordinary location. Amazing view. Trust your GPSr and check the hint before you start. The cache was found in the last place we looked, which as usual was not the first place we looked. Thanks for placing a fun cache guys. We do love your work. We signed the logbook. Of course we did that is way we play this game. Cache in pretty good condition for the cache age.

The gorge is gorgeous... but compass uncooperative. 40- 50 m circle sweeps on all directions. ..
A quick trip to the centre over the ten day easter break. Picked up a few caches i hadn't done and saw some spectacular scenery. TFTC TNLN
Alice is expecting rain so I've come out this way to get a few more smileys in the area before the roads are too messy. Once again this is another fabulous location, the place has soo many. I enjoyed the loop walk whilst here, terrific views and even a sense of accomplishment as I don't like heights. TFTC
I was heading up to Alice Springs from Adelaide on my own to meet up with FeatherWaite and decided to deviate a little to make the journey
I ended up travelling via Lambert Centre, Finke, the Old Ghan track, Chambers Pillar, the Hugh River Stock Route, Rainbow Valley, Owen Springs Reserve and a trip out to Ruby Gap for good measure, finding a few caches along the way. It took me a few days longer, but was well worth it.
Found this one on a visit to Trephina Gorge on my way to Alice Springs from Ruby Gap.

Heading out to do a few of the gorges and water holes in the West MacDonnell Ranges on this part of my great trip up the middle with a couple of muggle friends.
Just picking up random caches while I can without upsetting them to much.
Walked the looop track and took in all of the fantastic views along the way

Found after a great loop walk up and around on and off track back to the gorge. TFTC!!!!
We completed this walk the afternoon that we arrived, but foolishly did not check for caches beforehand (or even during our walk). We were not going to bother about it, but the next morning DD was up and about and decided to climb from the reverse direction to the previous day. She was glad that she did, as the light and views seemed particularly amazing first thing in the morning. TFTC
The Big Western Australia trip in 2018. Day 9. Today was a long day getting to head North, starting with a loop around the East McDonald Ranges, including Trephina Gorge and Arltunga. I got to revisit the Plenty Highway via the current Binns track and after a quick stop at Gemtree back to the Highway till dusk.
It was a solid clamber to get up here, but well worth it. The view down into gorge and across the range is fantastic.
Thanks.

WHOOPS! I'm logging about 100-200 or so caches like 3 months after the trip that we found them on! Completely forgot to log these but I did not forget the trip! Found this cache along with many others on an adventure around the red centre. Along this adventure we visited and explored many phenomenal and surreal places such as Woomera, Coober Pedy, Uluru and Mutitjulu, Kata Tjuta, Wattarka, Tnorala, Both East and West Macdonnell ranges, Arltunga, Ruby Gap, Palm Valley, Parts of the Finke road, Boggy Hole, Rainbow Valley, Old Ghan Route, Chambers Pillar, Oodnadatta track, Mount Dare, Dalhousie Springs, Painted Desert, Moon plane and I'm sure I've missed a few! Thank you so much for the cache. Found with Ferociousflea and -Beaker- along with our mint 79 series that accomplished alot in this two week time frame.

This gorge is beautiful, I love the smoothness of the rocks and the work that has gone into the trail by the rangers is astounding. We left a big rockstack for others to add to just before the cache. The cache container is starting to get some holes in it so may need replacing soon. TFTC

One of several found in this region on ANZAC Day. We thought Trephina was one of the prettiest spots we found on this side of Alice in the East Macs. Thanks for placing a cache, which is aptly named.

A short stroll up on top of the gorge. Could see the wallsand just how big it was. Found quickly even though toy hunters complained about the heat he took off down the hill leaving me to take some photos tftc
Found on our Red Centre Experience. Well, I don't know what to say about these ones! We and mr_roo started driving along the dirt road, however once we reached the sandy river crossing, we were not comfortable to drive further. Despite the massive heat, the majority of us decided to walk the remaining 950m to the car park of Trephina Gorge - I admit, I winged quite a lot about the hot and long walk, so I apologise to our guest mr_roo for my poor and negative attitude. However, once we finally worked our way up this hill, the views above the gorge of the surrounding mountains were absolutely fantastic! I personally prefered the gorge from the inside, but it was still quite spectacular above. Once at GZ, we admired the rock wall and then found the cache reasonably quickly - the lid is cracked, but it seems to be doing alright at the moment. TNLNSL. TFTC fixedonfind!

Came for a run out here to see this gorge and it was a spectacular sight from both above and below. Think it was ripples from an ancient seabed that I could see on the rocks on the walk up. My apologies for a generic log, but I'm notorious for not logging my caches. The Capital Cachers made arrangements to head out in four cars today to explore the East McDonnell ranges. This was a really interesting gorge and I would have loved to have more time to explore. We made our way up the rim walk to make the find and enjoy the views. TFTC
had a great day caching in the Capital Crunchers team (ACTchil, Darzee Di, Kittykatch, GrimRaider, Smittengranny and Pa, The S's, Scruffy Blake, Charli_bear, Me_to and Darksidedan). loved the area and a great cache. tftc fixedonfind
Out exploring the East Mac Ranges with a group of happy cachers. Walked the loop and great views were had. Checked out the Aboriginal art on the way back down on the "river". TFTC fixedonfind.
Found it.
Still catching up on logs from the Northern Territory. We had a fun week and a bit there. We seen some amazing scenes everywhere we went and handed out too many favourite points to count.
Thanks so much for placing this cache for our enjoyment while in the NT.
