Bit deterred by the gate but I was the only one out of me n mum that went off, cautious ab snakes and what stock could be in the paddock I didn't waste too much time on this one
Having arrived in Tamworth last night to visit with family, Blkthunder and I have a day in Tamworth and Walcha to cache and sightsee before returning to Brisbane tomorrow… there may have been more caching than sightseeing…
There’s quite a few caches around Moonbi with some serious unlove attached to them… and Cachly let’s you know them all… having driven here now, it appears most require a brush cutter, serious off-road capabilities and/or lots of time… as we have none of those this unloved cache appealed… and all I had to do was jump a locked gate and follow a vague track…
I of course picked the wrong track at the entry point (the left one) which resulted in about 70m of cross country to reach the cache…
Tftc… after over a year of unlove , and almost 14 years in the field, it’s still in great condition… left Smokey Bear’s ONLY YOU #1 to encourage others to jump the gate too…

Nice sunny day and I decided to do a loop around the backroads. This turned out to be a fun drive and on the way back to Tam I decided to do the walk in to this cache.
Ground a bit soggy and some long grass after I swerved off the track. Def need to let some cattle roam thru here. At GZ located a nice big cache

We were put off by the gate today, as it was firmly locked and we didn't feel like trying to climb over it and walk from there.
Day 2 in Tamworth heading South for the QBN Mega, staying at the paceway. Nice easy day picking up a few on the other roads that we did not do last time. Passed this a few times today, not quite sure how I could get closer without jumping the fence. Description helped so we continued along the main road and turned into Sanady Road and found the gate. Nice walk to the cache and a jog back to the waiting geo wife. I am sure she was worried about me. Luckily she had facebook to calm her nerves. O by the way, cache all good.

Gate was locked but we jumped it ...glad we did ...saw some jolly jumping kangaroos !!!!
Decided to spend a few days in Tamworth with my geodog Scruffy, so we just had to get out and find some of the caches hidden in the area.
Well the gate was locked, took the wrong track to start with and instead of helping to look for the cache, Scruffy wanted to chase a pack of roos, but besides all that - it is a good cache to find.
All Good .. TFTC ..

Brahms6 found this one. Nice to see a nice big cache after all those micros that test an old fellas eyes.
Tried the gate d to find this yesterday but couldn't. found it today because I came from the opposite direction. Then after a short walk I found the cache. TFTC.
Up in Tamworth for TCMF gigs this week. Just the one gig today so while we're still at the quiet..ish end of the festival I took the rest of the day off to find about a dozen selected caches around the Kootingal and Moonbi areas, via Tintinhull. My kinda day: a gig and some caching! Managed to find them all but a few were tough. Hot sunny arvo to be caching. Parked at the gate and went in but oh man keeping a real keen eye and ear out for joe blakes in this long grass! The cicadas are very loud out here! Saw a few Christmas spiders which was cool. Nice to find an ammo can. I SL and dropped my second-last "PN on Tour" Pathtag so please log it if you lift it. TFTC again, Postman Pat.

I've travelled south for business, and now my job is done.
It's time for me to travel home, but I shall have some fun.
Why rush the drive, there's lots to do, and so I make a plan;
To find some caches, see some things, enjoy it while I can.
This is my third one for the day, I've started out quite well,
And now to park and start the hunt, I'm feeling rather swell.
A shortish stroll, perhaps a jog, and soon I'm closing in,
I saw no birds, but that's ok, I found the hidden tin!
TFTC! from Mr E of Eskies5.

Thanks for the cache. . Found on our trip up the New England hwy. Wonderful cache.
Mrs.K likes birding in TSRs so a cache in here is tops on her list and a cache in here is mine.

Found with Happystau. Released our 1st trackable, Hamish the Unicorn, bound for Christchurch. TFTC.
OK so I broke the law and climbed a locked gate this time. However it was worth it as the walk and search resulted in a very clever hide. Damm! I forgot to bring an exchange item with me to swap, so it was took nothing and left nothing. Thanks Postman Pat.
We took the left hand not the right one in our search for this cache. It was good to get out of the car and stretch our legs nonetheless. Once at GZ it was a quick find. TFTC Postman Pat.
A very pleasant walk through the TSR yielded this large cache. We had missed this one a few times, but realised the best place to park was on the road to the south. About a 250m to the cache from there. Thanks Postman Pat.
Found with Albida33 on the way to the Stanthorpe Mega......so please excuse the generic log.
The cache was found without any issues and the log was soon signed....then back in the car and off to continue our travels.
Thanks for the cache and adding to the fun of our Mega trip.....

Today we headed into Tamworth. glad we got an early start as the weather has got really hot.
The 1st caches we found were in the Tintinhull region, some nice backroads & along the stock routes.
Thanks for placing this cache Postman Pat

This was a pleasant stroll with muggle mate N. It wasn't too hot and we soon had the cache in hand. There was no trouble as the gate wasn't locked. TFTC Postman Pat, SL and trackables visited.
Nice afternoon stroll, left FB badge . good size cache for the kids .thanks postman Pat..
Gate was locked, so hubby did this on his own. Jumped the fence and went off searching. He found the cache and came back with a thousand farmers friends lol. TFTC tnln
Gate locked again but it was such a nice day for a walk. Hopped over (ssh dont tell anyone) and enjoyed the hunt. Nice to find a bigger cache. TNLN TFTC Getting too old to jump fences tho'.
Nice wee stroll on our drive north up the highway. GPS was spot on. Thanks and cheers from Grandalf(2290)
Hi there Postman Pat. We found your cache "For the birds 11" at 12:18:00 PM today.
This was our 3rd cache find in a caching run of 9 Finds & 0 DNFs today. (So this now makes our find count 9101.)
[Blue]
Today is our last day in Tamworth and there's still caches to find. we attempted a few between showers, but when the thunder and lightening started we thought it would be a better idea to keep warm and dry in the caravan.
Thanks for not placing an eclipse tin or a 200ml Sistema here. For over ten years we have watched the quality of caches get steadily worse and worse. Once upon a time caches seemed to be "regular" sized, and well stocked with goodies for kids to swap. Nowadays it seems like every other cache is small and devoid anything to induce children to enjoy the hunt. It made us feel really good to find this cache in a "special" place.
[/Blue]
Coordinate Accuracy: Excellent. (We found the cache around 2m from where the GPS said we should be looking.)
Cache Condition: Container and log book are in good shape.
Took: Nothing.
Left: Smiley Badge.
Thanks for the hunt today,
Regards
Ian & Penny.

Took the wrong path to start with & decided to cut across the grass and stepped on a cactus (with only thongs on). Ouch!!! Those spikes must be barbed or something as they were very hard to pull out! Anyway, apart from that it was a nice walk & a much needed stretch of the legs whilst heading north on a road trip.
Thanks,

The gate was locked so decided to climb over it, lovely walk and soon had the log book in hand, signed and replaced. Took TB TFTC
Today was the fifth day of my holiday, heading from Coonabarabran to Tamworth, a relatively short distance, ultimately heading to Port Macquarie. There weren't many caches en route so I planned to do some beyond Tamworth. However, my plans were thwarted by very heavy thunderstorms for most of the afternoon. Nice quick found.
My thanks to Postman Pat for the cache.

2556 Found by baby&Mrs gopher at 1035. After a stroll to gz to warm up the container was found easy. No birds about this morning as it may have been a bit cold for them even at this time.SL Tnx Postman Pat
Great spot in there. Gate was locked though so had to jump over and walk in. Was still good. Tftc.
We were a tad worried about snakes even in the cooler weather, but there was none about, SL, surveyed the goodies left something, TFTC
Found it on my way to work in Tamworth. Took the wrong path and had to cut through the bush, so spent some time picking the seeds off. Lovely cache, thank you. Took the TB Street Fighter, he's heading west with his beer cap.

Yay, my first find without the kids beating me to it. Love the container. TFTC.
Having a day out hiding some new caches in the area and found this one. Great spot, great container. Took TB and left another TB. TFTC.
I found the gate and parked next to it
Some twits have been camping here and tried to use one of the 'conservation' signs as a hotplate on the campfire
That idea probably backfired when the paint started smoking
So leaving the mindless vandalism behind me I hopped over the locked gate and wandered along the track.
This area is surprisingly free of rubbish once you get away from the gate.
Probably due to the lock on the gate !!
And so the lovely ammo tin was soon found safe in it's hiding place away from the muggles

Time for a few more caches in 2012 and with everything found in Tamworth we had to head out of town a bit to grab a few finds.
We'd driven past this spot many times at 100km/hr but today we had time to stop and wander in. Being so hot I had one eye on the grass checking for snakes while the other monitored the gps.
Our 2nd ammo tin of the afternoon.
Thanks

Climbed over the fence - as the sign said it was accessible for pedestrians. Took the wrong path and ended up in walking across to the right path, where the cache was - just a few steps away.
Bit of a trek from the highway. But in a good spot. Found easily once there. Rick.
A nice cache in a great area. Left Ian Healy. Took magnet. thanks Postman Pat
TFTC what a great location. Thanks for taking us to such a beautiful place.

Well after a confusing start for us, we finally found the right gate...over the gate we go, and mont713 compass led him in a different direction to the one we took...hence to say we all found it, but mont713 had a longer walk than us lol...that's my son loved the cache, took nothing but left a necklace I had taken from a cache in Uralla....ty for an interesting fun find
A nice short walk from the gate to find this one as the morning started to warm up.
Great to see an ammo box in the wild.

I finally got around to grabbing this one. Very warm out today but no critters about. Quick find once at GZ. Thanks for the walk.

Parked at the locked gate - checked all the signs, yep seems like we can enter so over we climbed. Lovely walk along the track, stick over shoulder just in case maggies were around!! Easy find! Thanks for bringing us here!
Found at 1:22 PM GAFF1. Well the cache description says that you can go past the gate, but not sure how bike riders manage to lift their bikes over the locked gate - maybe they are push bike riders
A pleasant nice easy flat walk, which was nothing like what was expected with a terrain rating of 2.5. Nice to see a large container here as well.
Thanks Postman Pat

Albibops and I did the short walk to GZ collecting a few farmers friends along the way.
We thought we had better make this one quick asit was looking alot like rain.
The cache was easily found as it looked like a good spot put one.

This one was much better - nice quiet track for a walk. Thought the nearby pyramid house on the hwy was cool too - found without drama - TFTC
Once we found the gate to access the reserve, we climbed over the gate and had a pleasant walk to GZ where a quick find was made. The cache and its contents were in good condition. TFTC Postman Pat.
Well the gate is now locked so the birds will be fine but not sure about the cyclists and horse riders. Of course you might not want your horse eating anything that has been sprayed. TFTC.

The idea of a bird route intrigued me, so I resorted to google when we got home. Turns out there are 36 bird routes in the area, along old stock routes where there is remnant vegetation to provide a good bird habitat. Apparently they are great to visit if you are a keen bird watcher.
We did take the wrong track, but it wasn't to hard to walk across the scrub to GZ once we realised our error. At once there, it was a quick find.
Thanks

Two roads diverged after the gate and we took the one less travelled by (and that buggered it up). It seemed the right direction at first, but eventually we realised we were either going to have to return to the gate or walk across the grass to get to the other road and the cache. The latter seemed the best option. Finding the cache at GZ, however, was no trouble at all. Thanks
Found on a cool New England morning with birds twittering everywhere. TFTC Postman Pat.
