I am regretfully archiving this cache since there's been no response from nor action by the cache owner within the time frame requested in the last reviewer note.
Couldn't even find a candidate hiding place near the coords. Re-reading the description just now I remember that specific tree but it was nowhere near the coords.
It was a awesome day but got a bit confused with all of the HUGE! Totara trees.
Thanks for the cache!
Sorry for the delay in logging. I’m in the process of finally logging all my old finds.

Cute find was lost for abit due to so many amazing hug totara trees! Cache meeds replacing as full of water but still an awesome find regardless
That was a bit of a mission. I'm pretty sure I found the Totara and the gnarly, but extensive searching didn't reveal a cache.
I spent quite a bit of time stumbling around getting a million mosquito bites and watching my GPS jump about under the tree cover. It0 eventually led me about 50 metres from the totara and there was the cache. Very easy to see once you are in the right spot, but nothing to do with a totara or a gnarly.
I wondered whether it had suffered from location creep, but my GPS eventually settled on that spot.

Passing through Palmerston and had the afternoon free to cache. Parked up at Paneiri Park and got the bike out. So many great walkway/cycle paths along the river. No problems finding this cache although it was more like 20 steps for me. Cache rather wet but the log is double bagged and signable. Could do with some TLC from someone. Thanks for the smiley.
Found with pup and sister.
Returning ome to Wellington from our week long north island road trip, we stopped in to visit the Palmy Whanau and decided to take pup for a walk and to stretch our legs. This park is perfect for dogs and owners. The little fenced play area was ideal for my pup as shes not fully trained and likely to wander off.
After pup play time I noticed a couple of nearby caches and we headed off to this one first. Finding the little fairy doors was a nice surprise and we spent a long time wandering around the bush looking for the appropriate hint locations. Eventually I resorted to the c:geo for GPS which, despite the tree cover, was surprisingly accurate. The correct location was soon found and logbook is signed. All dry inside, old log book looks like it could be removed now as it is damp and full.

Finding the cache
Are, a nice little bushwalk always like these little areas to go caching in I was able to find the cache despite my the GPS on my phone playing up yet again what was happening was it would go down to about 4 meters then jump to 20 meters I really do need to get a new phone or a dedicated GPS device?
The plan for the day
Due to the limited time I have today I am only targetting two caches for the day this being one of them if I have time I will look for more
Goals towards my Project GC badges
Well the badge gaol for today is filling in a missing dot on my calendar matrix badge For those of you who do not know what Project GC is I suggest you go to Project GC and take a look at the virtual badges plus there are heaps of tools to help with locating which are caches needed to get the badges you are working on

Met up with Yeetrees after I finished work and before he headed off home, to hunt out a few *troublesome* geocaches. He had one over here, and I had two including this one which I had visited on two previous occasions. No trouble this time, although I had been looking in a real gnarly tree 11m away. Found it on the ground among the fallen Autumn leaves and the nearest tree isn’t very gnarly, neither excellent, nor bad, nor knotty. But found it, *so that is gnarly*. The cache contents are very wet, but I managed to literally scratch my name on a soggy log page. Thanks for placing this cache.
**I’ll perform some maintenance on this cache when I go back to get *Spot the Kea* as I read from the logs it was first reported as damp nine months ago, and nothing’s been done to address the issue in the interim.**
Pretty sure I located the knarly tree but came up empty handed. Will keep an eye on this one to see if anyone lodges a Found after today.
After a great little search. Found this treasure. Log still a bit damp so carefully replaced. Thank you for the cache
Great find!
The book was a bit wet and pencil sharpener was rusted so couldn’t record name but great wee spot! Ka pai!

We did this with a group of girls that loved playing in the forest. log book wet needs cleaning up and needs maintenance liked the tree
Great spot, trees mess with the phones GPS a bit but the clues helped. Cache is a bit bet and needs a better bag or container to protect.
found it eventually due to us not reading instructs properly...notebook is quite damp but one the family enjoyed finding
(# 5219). It dawned a lovely day. Big question. Go to work or do a bit of caching in Palmy. Given I am writing this you can tell which way I went. A quick find. Everything in order. TFTC
I was feeling pretty gnarly myself by this time, but these trees are wonderful. Finally located the right one and the cache. TFTC
This was a start of a full day caching trip from New Plymouth to complete the next two souvenirs for the Mystery at the Museum. Palmerston North was the nearest and best option to get the caches we needed as we had very few left to do in Taranaki. By the end of the day, soon after sunset we had managed to complete the souvenirs. Thanks to all the CO's who gave us that opportunity.
There seemed to be several Gnarley trees on our arrival near GZ. However there was one that was the gnarliest that hid the cache. Thank you ftc.

Out of hibernation and a road trip was in Order so the team came down from taranaki to do some detective work for the museum thanks for the stroll along the river TFTC thanks Geo Tiki
After a few disagreements about how far a certain amount of steps is got there in the end.

Made me angry because I'm an idiot and took like half an hour to find, gg guys gg
TFTC, a beautiful day to walk and wander through the esplanade on the way to this cache. We often meet up with friends and their dog and head out to give the canine some space in the nearby open ground. Nice to collect this smiley face today. Cache container was damp, but log all dry.
Quick walk with the dog, and found this on the way. GPS bounced around a little, quick find though. A nice nature place for our butterfly trackables first stop.
Found. Very wet though. Managed to sign log book but probably needs replacing. TFTC.
Parked up and made the walk to GZ. Once there I saw the tree in question and the cache was soon in my hand. A pleasant evening walk. TFTC.
I'm down in Palmerston North for a few days and was biking around here this afternoon. Enjoyed picking this one up - good hint, TFTC
Traveling up to Palmy after work on a Friday to spend some time with friends, I usually try to grab a cache or two on my way to get rid of another dot day.
This is one I hadn't attempted before simply because it is fractionally more remote for me, but as I am slowly getting through the nearer or easier caches to my regular journeys I thought I'd turn my attention to this locale.
I had already attempted 3 nearby caches, and dusk had well and truly fallen by the time I disappeared into the woods to look for this one. I hadn't given any forethought to this attempt, and therefore wasn't armed with anything more powerful that the little torch on my car keys.
Suffice to say that every tree looks bloody gnarly when you're groping around in the dark! It took me about 15 minutes of searching before I spotted what turned out to be the cache. The lid of the container had not been replaced properly by the previous finders so consequently the cache had a lot of water in it which I emptied away. Luckily the logbook wasn't too badly affected so I was able to sign it before putting everything back as it should be and then trying to find my way back to the path!
Thanks for the adventure!

One of 12 located today, having driven from Wellington to Palmerston North for a couple of days over Easter. Found a handful on our bike ride along the river trail. This one was a quick find once we’d figured out the correct direction to head from the nearby pathway. #1697. TFTC.
Quick easy find. Had looked for this about a year ago but it was missing thanks for replacing
Another blue face turned into a happy yellow one. Thanks for reinstating this cache.
Good to have this cache restored..love the bird life and song in this area...Thanks for the cache and traveling half way around the world to replace..thats dedication aunt nicki
Took the long walk to get here. Never knew this park was here. Thanks for the coffee shout Nicola. John & Ronda
May be a wee reward for the first to find the refurbished cache. I left this for a youngster!
All fixed up and ready to go again; enjoy, enjoy, enjoy... for life is wonderful and always an adventure!!!! Kia ora.....
I had a quick look around for this one again today, seeings we were the last people to find it. Couldnt set my eyes on it, and honestly there arent many places it can hide being such a large container, its almost as though the floor of this forest has been swept up! I think its gone
Had a good search around GZpS had me very close to a tree that matched the Hint and cache name and looked very likely ...but no luck for me there widened the search and still no luck ...I am guessing the first spot was correct ...maybe the C O would like to check and advise thanks ....I hate DNF s with a passion
#83 Found with my mum Gr33nslime and perhaps my dad JimmyNZ. Trying the mass logging thing with GSAK hence the really general log entry!
#885 Out for a Saturday morning walk with JimmyNZ and DangerSAM in his Danger Pram, looking for a cache to fill in a dot day. This one has been on my radar for a while but just havent quite got there. I enjoyed the walk through this lovely and very established piece of bush. There are some great trees here. This is a very popular and tidy cache (see photo) and all in good order. Left a palmy rock that i found further up the path. Thanks for bringing me here Geo-tiki! DangerSAM enjoyed the slighly off road aspect to this hide!
Out for a nice casual walk this morning with Gr33nslime and DangerSAM to get rid of another dot day. Great day to collect caches in the local area. Got well distracted with the numbered markings and painted rings on the trees. That's an exciting update from last time and a very big change to palmys unofficial disc golf course. Will be back to play that soon. We've been keeping an eye on this park, but never ventured down this path before. Really amazed at the amount of massive trees. DangerSAM is bit of a nature boy at the moment and was having a right old toot and holler at all the cool massive native trees. Found the Gnarly Treasure Tree and set about getting into the GZ to hunt out the cache. Very easy to find since it was sitting out in the open in GZ. I see there have been some new cachers here recently and i think perhaps they don't understand that you have to re hide a cache after you find it. Any who we signed the log and I made sure it was tucked up in a decent amount of muggle camouflage that any cacher would soon realise. Thanks for the cache it was great to have come here.
My first find ever cache find, so took a while to understand that the caches are not just sitting there under your nose in plain site. That being said, once you find one it seems hard to believe how it could be missed.
