Thanks Yeetrees for placing a cache here but I couldn't find it today.

Checked under 33trees, 5 flax bushes and assorted other reed-bed cleaners.
I think I eventually found where it's meant to be so I'll text the CO a photo.

It was fairly frustrating but I guess it's still good exercise in the fresh air...

25-Mar-21
Next time I'll bring my bike to shorten the uphill time and enjoy the steep downhill thru this scenic Reserve

No luck here today. Perhaps I misinterpreted the hint or perhaps I wasn't thorough enough. Can't imagine it's been muggled out here.

The GPS was all over the show, the clue didn’t help, we we came away empty handed and pretty well scratched up from the blackberry bushes.

MightyMicra and I searched for a long time today and got many prickles. We gave up after about 30 minutes. This was to be the start of a bad afternoon with 2 more DNF's but its very pleasant walking in the tracks around this area. TFTC even though we didn't find it.

12-Oct-19
Came down to Porirua to look for some of the new Geotour caches, and while we were down here wanted to stop nearby to look for a replacement bike wheel, would have been silly not to have a look for this cache while we were so close! Pleased to find this today, it was quite a tricky find, phone GPS got us close to the general area but struggled a bit under trees, GPSr led us to a more definite area, cache was well hidden, youngest son spotted it in a spot I think I'd already checked. Bit slippy underfoot but only one small blackberry scratch so I think that was pretty good! Saw the old sign about the reedbeds, it's covered in lichen and broken at the bottom now, probably doesn't get many visitors apart from geocachers! TFTC

Cache is where it should be

Check attributes before attempting

30-Jun-19
All overgrown with blackberry.

30-Jun-19
Pretty sure the the path is blocked for this one.

19-Feb-19
No luck today. Will be back another time.

30-Dec-18
Very overgrown. I’m sure it’s there tho

14-Mar-18
Got to within 8m according to GPS but couldn't get any closer due to overgrowth of blackberries. Tried from a different approach but blackberries even worse.

17-Feb-18
Worth a second visit with a real GPS. Very informative. Many thanks

24-Nov-17
A pleasant stroll up through Spicer Park. I'd followed my GPS to GZ, but there it started jumping around so after checking a few possible spots I sat and waited for it to settle. Having got what I hoped was a reliable fix about five metres behind me I stood up and immediately spotted the cache about half a metre from my feet. I'm sure it wasn't there when I sat down!

Second name on the new log sheet.

Replace the cache and logbook

All good to go again

#4809. I decided to do a short trip this afternoon to pick up some caches in the Colonial Knob area. Decided to start here as I had a DNF last time. Wasn't aware the cache had been replaced today until I found it but sure made for an easier find. There was nice new geotrail to follow through the grass and the first trees I started to check had a brand new container present. Great to see the triple layered cache and fresh clean logbook. Thanks Chris for replacing the cache and glad I chose today to search for it. Those blackberries look like they are on their way back again.

01-Nov-17
Found the cache but nowhere to write as the log is water logged.. nice spot, was second attempt at this one

31-Oct-17
Finally! A nemesis cache avenged! Sadly the log book is too wet to sign. Photo as proof of visit. Thanks to everyone who cleared this area, much better than the last time I visited. Tftc, 545m car to cache for the DGSC challenge.

31-Oct-17
The logbook is soaked, and too wet to write on.

No probs with prickle bushes, interesting area. Water in container, logbook damp but serviceable. TFTC Yeetrees.

11-Mar-17
When there was a bit of a break in the crappy weather today I thought I'd have yet another go this (3rd attempt) after the encouraging comments in the previous log. Wow, this place has really been cleaned up. If it was anything like this when the cache was placed it makes a lot more sense as a cache hide but until recently it has been an extremely unpleasant jungle. I presume this is thanks to the council rather than the CO Wink. Now all the blackberry is gone you can actually see the reedbed that's doing the cleaning!

Searching was therefore a much more pleasant experience than previous visits and it was really just a matter of systematically searching hint objects. Despite that I needed two passes as the cache was buried a bit. I was surprised the log was in relatively good condition despite being in a Sistema container in an extremely wet environment.

If I'd found the cache in the old environment, TFTC would have been more of a courtesy. But now I can say TFTC with sincerity!

This one has been bugging me for a while. Had a look about a year ago but the blackberry was too thick and did not have protection or way to cut it. Today was a different storey. Protective gear and cutting and hacking implements. Got to the GZ to find the area had some clearing work done. Still needed to hack a small way. GPS was within 1m so was good. There is a blaze to mark the way. A little damp in the cache, logbook writable. Almost a year since its last find. Glad to have this one. TFTC

21-Jan-17
I decided to have another look for this while I was in the area. Search got cut short because the rain - it's bad enough searching here in the dry! I didn't even get out the GPS after seeing logs that the coords might not be accurate enough but I searched several places I don't recall checking last time. I also had gloves this time so could search without damaging my hands on all the blackberry. I was hoping to see another find since my last DNF to confirm its presence but as that hasn't happened I wonder if the CO could possibly confirm that it's there?

29-Dec-16
All I managed to find today was a lot of blackberry and badly scratched legs...looked in several places matching the hint then gave up due to the prickles...

22-Jul-16
Cache seems to be unnecessarily far off the beaten track. Got within a couple of metres (apparently) but gave up in the end. Will revisit in better weather.

02-Apr-16
A quick find with TregearP at the GZ after a troublesome access with mega blackberry. Once the best route was found, reasonably easy.

All in good order, TNLNSL, TFTC.

02-Apr-16
Nice to find this one, thanks to a few recent serachers warning us of bramble we came prepared and quickly had cache in hand. All in good order, lonely as it was. Discovered as we'd finished logging a far less prickly exit. TFTC

10-Jan-16
Had time for a quick search with parents out on a walk, still came away empty handed. Wasn't dressed to attack the blackberries.

02-Jun-15
Great spot, thanks for bringing me here. Glad I had my gumboots with me though. Found the cache after I had a bit of a think and widened the search area - coordinates were a bit out for me today.

15-May-15
I see this cache has become lonely (no finds since last Sept). Now I know why. I was prepared for dampness after the rain yesterday so had old clothes on and wore gumboots. I wasn't prepared for the blackberry thickets. Very nasty indeed and starting at ground level and climbing higher (much higher). First base that I checked drew blood and it wasn't the last time. Very hard to search in dense, damp, blackberry strewn vegetation. Gave it a pretty good shot (half an hour) mostly within 5-10 m of GZ. The next visitor needs to bring clippers and leather gloves to cut back the blackberry. Cache is probably still in there somewhere but would be nice to know what type of vegetation it might be under. At present its a jungle!

04-Sep-14
Found while completing "Optical maneuvers in the dark" with team Skaga. A tricky little cache to get to in the dark! TFTC

02-Sep-14
#1113 Picked up Aga after work and went to find this cache. Really enjoyed meandering through this reserve- didn't even know it as here. Thanks for pointing it out to us.

Found after a stop at Trash Palace! Had some help from mttomatoking Smile

14-Oct-13
I had an enjoyable time here today hunting around on a wild and windy day. The hide was just right, not too easy as many can be, and yet not too hard. TFTC.

01-Oct-13
Found. TFTC

27-Aug-13
First solo find! Had tried this one before but come away empty-handed so good to finally tick it off! TFTC

03-Jun-13
After a few frustrating and prickly minutes I changed to another set, and soon found.

26-May-13
A good Sunday afternoon walk with the dog to find this one. Didn't take too long. Logbook a fraction damp. #252. TFTC.

28-Apr-13
Did this one after dropping off green waste at the tip. Found with little difficulty. TFTC

26-Apr-13
We had looked once before without success, so when I was up this way today I went for another look. The first route I took was overgrown with blackberry, so I beat a retreat and circled lower. Still tricky searching, but after about ten minutes I came across a cache-size pencil and figured I must be close. Success soon after.

30-Mar-13
A previously unvisited locale for us. Here on a very pleasant Saturday Easter afternoon.
Straightforward find, cache in order, log signed; cache re-hidden safely, just as found.

The Turtle strikes again!

23-Feb-13
The path we took to GZ seemed a lot more difficult than 2 star terrain, but that may be because the legs were complaining after a walk up to Colonial knob. After a bit of thrashing around, was very pleased to hear the magic words from StreetWalker "Found it".
Only our second visit to the area - the other was in the dark to tackle Optical Manoeuvres in the Dark so good to see it in daylight!
Now the long walk back to the car, parked on Raiha St. TFTC.

23-Feb-13
#5037. We'd done a lot of climbing to get up and down from Colonial Knob, and I was surprised at how much we had to climb to get there. It was steep, and we took it slowly. Flora wasn't as bad as I was expected at GZ, and it didn't take long to find. Interesting area. TFTC.

06-Feb-13
Thought this one was a real bush bash. Really overgrown with blackberry branches as thick as my arm. Hacked my way through and thought the terrain rating should be much higher. Just as I reach GZ I noticed the lower much easier path a little further down [:(!]. Got back to car with a few scratches and scrapes, then realised my keys had fallen out my pocket Surprised. Went straight back to GZ and there they were, phew. TFTC

02-Feb-13
After have a few hours break and re-charging the electronics 8th cache of the day. TFTC.

Cache #871 - glad to get this one off the list. Nasty little location for the cache, although the area is very nice and would not have known it was there. Took a while and got pretty scratched up with all the brambles, and nearly twisted my ankle at one point as well. TNLNSL. TFTC.

11-Aug-12
Nice quick find while dropping our recycling off Smile TFTC

06-Aug-12
Wandered up after doing Optical Manoeuvres in the Dark. Heard a morepork on the way which was cool for the kids. Found quickly this time after missing out on this in the summer. TFTC !

09-Mar-12
Gorgeous day but searched and didn't find. Been lots of rain so may have washed away?

06-Jan-12
Believe we were at the exact spot, fought with the blackberries and cutty grass, but lost in the end.

02-Oct-11
Found on a days caching with i5badass, we took the hard way to it. TFTC.

02-Oct-11
Well hidden but a nice view

18-Sep-11
This one took a lot longer than it should have. It was very well covered so I missed it on my first and sceond passes. Just as we were about to give up there it was.

13-Sep-11
Luckily it was in the first spot I looked - now on to Colonial Knob

03-Sep-11
#768. Out with the family on a really nice day. A quick find at GZ today, we had tried this one quite a few months ago with no luck, but my GPSr pretty much led straight to the cache this time. The log was nice and dry in the cache. SL, TFTC. +boomerang, +dino

08-May-11
Quick find. when I got to GZ was worried that it could be any one of 100 places, but luckily the hint points to 3 or 4 places only.. From there it was a quick find.. Only cache for the day, to get a find on the 8th May. T4TC

17-Apr-11
Called in here on the way home from a couple of other caches.
Thought I'd grab this one, and also scout out "Optical Manoeuvres in the Dark", which has piqued my interest, and will be attempted in the near future.
Nice easy walk, and easy find.

14-Apr-11
Nice lunch time find today. Probably went up the wrong path as well, but nice reserve. Not to badly overgrown and was able to find the GC without too much searching. TFTC

07-Apr-11
A bit overgrown and wet tonight. I didn't choose the best way to approach GZ. As is often the case, I found a much easier route to get back to my car. Thanks for providing a reason to come to this interesting area.

24-Mar-11
What an interesting area. One of those hidden places you wouldn't otherwise know about. TFTC

26-Feb-11
It's seriously overgrown up there and I would hate to do it the wet, but its an interesting project, thanks for pointing it out. TFTC SL SNLN

26-Feb-11
snuck through spicer senic reserve because gates were closed for the road. not so nice climb because I should have looked at attributes and worn long sleeves.Sad

26-Feb-11
Found after searching for a while. A bit overgrown, but not wet.

12-Jan-11
Came here about a year ago, when the GPS was being fixed. Rather optimistically we had thought we could find it using google earth, but failed. Looking at it in comparison now, I'm not surprised - the vegetation has grown a lot over the last couple of years it seems. Interesting spot with some lovely views. Saw a lot of kereru and tui. Didn't like the burnt rubber/metallic smell from the landfill site much [xx(]. Couldn't persuade the younger members of the group to pop up to Colonial Knob, so will have to leave that one until next time! TFTC!

06-Jan-11
#290 - Our second of only 2 caches today - we decided to knock off Colonial Knob and descended our way back to this cache, perhaps we took the harder way to GZ - but it doesn't matter when you've just climbed 300+ metres in elevation. Very well presented and worded description and an interesting spot. SL TFTC.

31-Dec-10
Took a while to locate after taking the hard way up but we got there in the end. TFTC

12-Dec-10
A neat Eco-friendly spot, but unfortunately could only get as close as 25m on first approach. Back up the hill and around - 18m away still at the edge of the long growth. Decided only one of us would bush bash so as to leave minimal impact. Wonder if this area used to be mown. Picked up TB and then chatted to a muggle who was embarrassed about his dog. If only he knew we had this strange hobby?

19-Sep-10
Walked to this cache after visiting someone in Kenepuru Hospital. More of a walk than I had thought! However successfully located the cache despite failing GPS batteries. Interesting first time visit to this little park. TNLN. TFTC

18-Sep-10
Lots of candidate places to search. Found eventually without getting wet.
TNLN, TFTC

25-Aug-10
On a pleasant afternoon with an hour to pass before the kids get home from school, thought I'd just pop out and get this cache under the belt. Took the longer more scenic and energetic route in from the carpark but was accompanied by Tui and other birdsong while out for the walk. A couple of false starts soon determined the right spot for the cache. Left TB 'The Twist' to watch over this Permaculture Garden. SL. TN. TFTC

12-Jul-10
3321. It was tricky to find our way in to get started and we did make a couple of false starts but in the end we found a way and reached the cache.
Thanks
