Sorry for the very late log..always too busy (for me it is definitely not about the numbers )
Found this with swollibman after our silver peaks adventure. And yes it is muddy, I can't say I wasn't really glad that we found it after this way there. TFTC!

We attempted to head up to the Silver Peaks this weekend for a 2 night tramp via the Leith Saddle (walking in all the way from Dunedin!) but it was far too windy, we were crawling for a while, and unfortunately had to head back. Luckily we had a contingency plan for this very occurrence and got a few caches around SH1 and Waitati & Leith Valley Roads before walking back into town. So still a nice day out caching and we found some good ones. Yes, it's muddy but luckily we weren't too bothered as we had out boots on and they were already soaking wet from earlier. TFTC!
Yep, mud is the word. Container appeared to have been submerged in some sort of flood- had its own lake inside, and the log bag was torn. Bag duly replaced and container dried out, we replaced it slightly higher than we found it, hopefully away from rising water levels.....(the hint is still perfectly appropriate).
It really was a muddy slog up this trail to the cache. A bit overgrown in spots, but its pretty easy to follow the pipe! No trouble with the hide, thanks for the fun muddy adventure!
Thought it best to grab this one before it became too muddy with winter so made the most of a lovely, sunny afternoon to wander along the 'slightly' muddy track. Would have like to go for the multi here as well but no time today so will need to come back. Found with Aoraki Sheep.
Ferns, etc are starting to overgrow the track a bit so sometimes it's difficult to see where you're putting your feet. Started looking at the base of every tree once we got to about 5m - there sure are lots of trees to look at, but we got there in the end
Wish I had gumboots today, it certainly lived up to its' name. But well worth the intrepid journey. A few laughs along the way as I delightedly watched someone elses misfortune for a change!
Thanks

Despite searches at the feet of all hint-type trees within 15m of GZ, came away with nothing but dampish feet...
Finally getting around to logging... Yep. It is actually fun - in a somewhat Masochistic way! I did this with Tealby after our tramping trip. Thanks.
I question my sanity in tackling this one, especially after my fall earlier in the day injuring my wrist (I later found out I had actually broken my arm!), but I was already so muddy that it seemed a shame not to get this one ticked off while in such a state of disarray. I made my way gingerly up the path, using the pipeline wherever possible. KiwiLegend charged on ahead and made the find just as I arrived at GZ, so it was not toooo challenging for me. TFTC - my hiking boots ended up in the rubbish after this - the sole was flapping off - they had served me well! TFTC.
Great way to end my first day Geocaching. Track was very muddy and dogs are going to need a clean when we get home. Crossed the creek and started looking but could not find, rechecked the Garmin GPS and in told me I was 6m out. Trap for new players Found chahe quickly when looking in the right location. Note book is a little damp but other wise all good.
Off home with three finds for the day.

Since I was in the area, I decided to get a bit muddy, but was not too bad actually - must be the dry spell we have been having. Still, I did experience all the different types of mud mentioned... Boots needed a good wash anyway TFTC!!
On way back from visiting friends at Waik so I'd thought I'd tackle this on the way back to Dunners.
Had gum boots and a walking pole in the boot of the car so off I went.
It wasn't too bad until after 2nd plank bridge then it got a bit gloopy, in a few spots went for the pipe walk and with use of the pole my boots only got muddy to low uppers level.
CoOrds led straight to the GZ and cache was in hand soonest.
Trip back down the track was a bit better as I knew where to put my feet, but the gnarly roots hidden by the ferns near the bottom nearly scuppered me, a bit of arm waving, mild cursing and a "Whoo that was close to being A over E." soon had balance restored.

Not too muddy coming in from the top. Had a hiking pole with me, so managed to walk along the pipe for most of the way, so escaped the worst of it. Even if I had had to go through it, it would not begin to match some other trips I have done -- ankle deep mud across the width of a 4-wheel drive track with banks on either side so one couldn't bypass it.
Easy find once my GPSr had settled down so that I could select the right clue object.
TNLN. TFTC.

Gave my new tramping boots a bit of a workout.
Wasn't that bad. Had to use the hint. revisited a spot and there it was all along.
Great camo job. Thanks.

Decided that my experience for this cache should be as full as possible so waited until after a night of rain to attempt. Glad I took my gumboots as they were surely needed. Parked at the Northern end of Sully's and followed the track until I reached the pipeline. Enjoyed powering through the mud without a care, only stopping to retrieve the odd lost gumboot that got stuck in the mud. Fortunately my socks stayed nice and dry. Took me a few minutes to find the cache and it turned up in the first place I had looked. Maybe I need glasses? Headed back along the track to do some of the others in the area but will return to complete the full walk up sometime in the future. TFTC!
Checked all was well with this after the heavy rain and flooding, glad I had my gumboots on!
MMM it is rather muddy coords about 16m out for us but nice stroll along the pipeline. TFTC
After Nearly a Motorway Pa-Troll we were expecting this to be messier than it was. Wouldn't like to do it after heavy rain though. TFTC

Not as muddy as I thought it would be but still a nice squelchy experience.
Left Homebody TB, took Rachel's Rucksack geocoin.

Not too muddy today. Needed the clue to locate the cache.
Great wee walk. Thanks.
Great wee walk. Thanks.
Ventured forth on a rapidly drying track, and managed to avoid most of the mud. Dropped off Rachels Backpack TB, and dipped in Jean Luc A
Not as muddy as I expected, was able to find reasonable firm footing most of the way,
Thanks

I knew about the pipe line, but I didn't realise there was such a navigable track all the way to the top. I've walked much muddier tracks, but then it has been dry for a few days.
The find took a little longer, with the signal strength being compromised by the bush, but a couple of walks past and a few minutes searching did it.

Vicky got this one. We had to resort to the clue, with such a wide MoE... but there are an awful lot of clue objects too. It really has been a dry winter- other times I've been up here it has been liquid slops, but it's quite respectable at the moment.
Certainly muddy but not as bad as I had expected fortunately. Came up from the top gate at Sullivan's Dam and returned same way so perhaps it's worse further up. Shocking signal and spent quite some time going back and forth along the pipeline until it settled. When it did it was reasonably accurate.
Who would possibly be madder than me, out on a night like this to beat me to the FTF? Well, the answer is that I got well and truely Noffed (to coin a phrase) by a good 2 hours (much to my chargrin on opening the cache!). Quite enjoyed the muddy walk, the smells of the bush, the misty rain, but spent quite a while hunting at every hint object.
That was indeed so very, very...very! Came from the bottom and stepped right into the mud halfway up my calf. Decided to walk on the pipeline and use my stick for balance - promptly lost at least 1m of stick in the mud. From there it was abandon all since of propriety Great fun. FTF at about 6:20am. Thanks!!
