Sadly this was a DNF for me, I see there was a DNF before me so this may not be cache blindness
Found the container, attempted to open it with stones and goodness knows what until I decided to have a better hunt for the tool - which I soon found!! Exactly what I'd choose to use if I was opening this at home!!! Pretty rusty container but it did open!!! The inner container and contents were all okay, signed and replaced (with the tool nearby!) Found as part of the Ramblers Reward Challenge.
Finally came back today to redeem my DNF and found it after thinking logically about where it would be. There was an inch of water in the outer container which I emptied. Inner container was dry however. I replaced the container upside down. TFTC - it’s a brisk uphill walk!
The first part of this walk is always the hardest, but nice to have an excuse to take a break. TFTC
Quick find as was fearing the worst. Didn't see tool until I put it back. Nice track so far if a bit chilly this morning.
A second ramble for the day, this time in the pm. Unfortunately cloud has mostly obscured many views. Quite a good climb to start off with so time for a breather. Couldn't find the tool but a handy pocket knife soon fixed that'. Tftc
Beautiful day considering the wild weather forecast. Saw the spot and it was an instant give-away. There has to be a cache here!
I like benches put in random places, allowing for people to catch a little breather. In a more urban setting, I know the people living at the heart of Lothian Street have built a little bench for people to sit on as well.
Anyhow, nice spot. The container was opened using a key on my keyring, and everything is in good order. Thank you for the cache

Had to take a quick trip out of town so on my return trip took some time out to grab a couple of caches.
I was very happy to arrive at GZ and make use of the seat. After catching my breath took a moment to take note of any likely spots. I appeared to be the only person in the track so could have a good hunt around. Finally had my hands on it. Tftc

Cache replaced with new container inside and out. There is a spoon to use to open the tin located on left just before you touch the cache.
A lovely day to road test our new walking get up - I'll take it as a pass with geobubs chatting happily away. We were pleased to reach the cache after the brisk climb - think I've only come down this way before! We found the cache after one or two decoys. The outer container is rather weathered, I didn't need a tool to jimmy open. The outer container had flooded which we drained. The inner and log were only slightly damp and still easily signable. Geobubs caused a few raised eyebrows crawling a section of the track but provided brilliant caching cover TFTC # 244
The first cache of the day. No need to find the opening tool as I had my own handy. Onward and upwards. Thanks
One hell of a walk for an unfit soul like me but was well worth it! Got a good tradeable! Awesome cache!

I spotted the seat and a quick glance around revealed an obvious hint object which turned out to be the right one. Didn't bother looking for the opening tool as I had something that worked very well.
After the rather steep climb from the car this was a relief to spot and it made a good place to sign the log from. TFTC
Whiskasnz and I decided it was time to knock these few caches off. We were very happy to see the seat after a rather steep walk up from the car. Found and signed the log just before a group of trampers arrived. TFTC
I am not sure how I missed this last time. Maybe just haven't run as hard today. Good to finally find it.
Beautiful day for a neat walk. Another first, always been meaning to walk this track. TFTC
heading back down to Dunedin to catch up with KJR seems like only yesterday I was there ( oh it was ) work was cancelled for the week so good opportunity to grab a few more southern caches . was meeting up with K so had a little time to grab a couple on my way down.
I made it to the rendezvous with time to spare and the chance to grab a tb ( before K arrive) was to good to miss so up the track and up it was, not being local i didn't know the lay of the land but at least its a very good track. Having done some track maintenance myself a couple of years ago in peel forest I recognized the handy work just would have expected a few more steps .
made it to gz in a huff and a puff and started searching which I did make a meal of finally finding it as I received at txt from K announcing her arrival " where are you" . so a quick log sign then a jog down the hill tftc

Impromptu afternoon off work = impromptu geocaching expedition! Met up with BCD and headed to Waitati to tick a few more off in the area. Did a few down the hill and then decided to come back up for a wee walk. A sense of de-ja-vu for BCD haha and a nice quick find by K. TFTC
Our first cache of the day, on the way up the Leith Saddle track. Track is pretty steep between the carpark & this cache, so the seat was very welcome . Nice hiding spot & good cache container, cache is in good order with contents nice & dry. TFTC.
A nice fun hike up the Leith Saddle Track with friends (who have a geocaching account but not used it in a while so signed as family name).
During our visit of some friend s me and katkat82 climbed up that hill. We saw only clouds and decided not to go to the end but I'm sure the walk is worth it during a nice day!

It was time for a bit of a walk initially to the Swampy Spur transmitter to see how I would manage the walk as it has been quite a while since I have done any sort of exercise. I'm blaming the previous two weeks of lousy weather. On the way I saw three MTBers at the top and had a good chat with the two DOC workers I met up at the lookout. All up it was a 12.5km trek taking a total of 5 hours 41 minutes of which 3 hours 10 minutes were with me moving. It is great what the GPS can tell you. I also noticed that it took me 1 hr 1 minute of moving time and 49 minutes of stationary time to reach the transmitter.
It was nice to have a rest after the steady huffing and puffing.
In: Geocoin.
Cheers for the cache.

Visited today to check that cache is still there, all good, Placed in a few swaps. No geocoins were present so have marked them both missing.
Hasn't been found in over 11 months. Owner may need to check it is still on site??
Missed this one on way up to summet but tried again on way down and found quickly. TFTC
Nice walk up the hill. Great cache idea. We continued up to the viewing seats. TFTC left a TB
A little light relief - yeah right! I am so unfit and that track is relentlessly upward so I huffed and puffed all the way up. Found the cache but couldn't locate the tool. Logged it eventually between the pen and some other handy materials. Very pleased to have made the effort. TFTC #6135
Sorry for the very late log..always too busy (for me it is definitely not about the numbers )
Found this with swollibman after our silver peaks adventure. Without looking at the cache name or description first, we searched unnecessary long, and even after being sure about its location it took us still some time to figure it out, because it is so well made. TFT –very cool– C!

We attempted to head up to the Silver Peaks this weekend for a 2 night tramp via the Leith Saddle (walking in all the way from Dunedin!) but it was far too windy, we were crawling for a while, and unfortunately had to head back. Luckily we had a contingency plan for this very occurrence and got a few caches around SH1 and Waitati & Leith Valley Roads before walking back into town. So still a nice day out caching and we found some good ones. TFTC!
Dashed back up track to grab this. Missed the two TBs that were listed. Someone else bet me to it! TFTC
I am glad I did this as the first of the day and not the last. Gave the lungs a good work out.
All good with the cache
All good with the cache
Last day if the year, so we thought we'd have a crack at the Leith Saddle a bit of a slog to this one with Baby Rex in tow, but the seat provided a chance for some rest and lunch before attempting the rest of the trail...cheers Katie!
Certainly a welcome resting place on my way to Swampy Summit. A long arm helps here.
A hard slog up the hill with a 2yo on my shoulders. Glad to find the bench and the cache. Cheers
Found it with a bit of a prompt from PC Sniff. Cool hidey hole. I left a couple of kids' treats because there was room and it was empty. Thanks for the cache.
A rainy run up the Saddle to Flagstaff and then down into town today. Stopped for a few quick caches as an excuse to catch my breath! All still in good shape despite no visits for a few months!
First of four finds on our walk today. Took quite a while - GPS had us all over the place and further from the track than we needed to be. Fun though. Didnt find the implement for opening but had something with us that worked. TFTC!
TFTC Boss dropped me off so i could go for a little walk in the hills and then back down town ha ha nearly made the town bit!
Got out there as the day was warming up, it has been 32c at some point today. Let the lungs recover while finding the cache. Set off more than fully recovered.
Finally getting around to logging... I did this as part of the MEGA trip organised by KiwiChris (thanks!) Thanks also to Tealby for the ride. We arrived a couple of minutes late, so had to hurry up the hill for our first find. A very pleasant trip. Thanks.
Down here for the mega event, and thanks to evilno9 was signed up to take part on this hike. Probably the best part of the weekend! Nothing like a good hike in some wild weather! Big thanks to Kiwichris for being a fantastic guide, and great to meet some new people.
After a good slog up the hill to this one, it was nice to stop and catch our breath a bit and stretch the old calf muscles out. Nice and easy find in a nice spot. TFTC

This was the start of an epic adventure led by KiwiChris In the company of 8 other intrepid cachers. My travelling companion for the day was KiwiLegend, but by the time we had arrived at the car park the others had already headed off to the cache, so we had to hot-foot-it up the hill to catch up, with StreetWalkerNZ kindly bringing up the rear to ensure no one was left behind. Consequently I was already feeling somewhat puffed by the time we reached GZ, but on the positive side, the cache had already been retriieved, so it was an easy find for me! TFTC - and a great hill workout to help with my marathon training.
This was the start of the highlight of the Mega for me. I'd jumped at the chance to do some organised hiking with other like minded types and so even though I'd been up late watching the All Blacks the night before I was up nice and early to get here on time.
After the introductions and safety briefing we headed off and into a nice steep climb to get the legs nicely stretched. Found myself in front as we hit GZ so I ducked in and made the first find of the day.

Found as part of the group completing the NZ Mega event Swampy Circuit Trek led by KiwiChris with StreetWalkerNZ following behind ensuring we all kept together.
The group met up at our starting co-ordinates and then set off at 9am. There was a question as to how far we would get due to the uncertainty of the weather, however apart from having to shelter briefly from some light hail it turned out to be a rather nice day allowing us to complete the full circuit.
This was our first find as the leaders powered up the hill. We all signed the log and then went on our way again. Thanks for the hunt.

As a part of the NZ Mega event a "tramp" was organised and led by KiwiChris to tackle the challenging Swampy Circuit.
We all met up at our starting co-ordinates (cheers for EvilNo9 for the lift) and then set off at 9am.
The weather was the only uncertainty about the day, but apart from a sharp hail storm, it was all perfect.
The terrain was the most challenging, with some long steep climbs and some pretty trecherous
downhill mud slides.
The walk was about 13 km, but felt more due to the terrain, but we completed it all within 6 hours,
with a break for lunch and stopping to find for 12 caches.
All in all a fantastic mini event, a big thank you to KiwiChris, with whom this activity would never
have come together. Took some fantastic photos on route.
This first cache was found after a very steep starting trek.

This was the first find as a group of 10 Mega cachers, did the Swampy circuit. Thanks to KiwiChris for leading this hike. This cache was in a great little hidey hole and there is nothing like a stiff uphill at a cracking pace, to get the blood flowing. I guess the locals don't believe in switch backs. Nice spot here amongst the trees.
A good cache find while in the area after attending the MEGA event.
Quick walk up the hill to the site.

#4213. First find of the Mega walking tour. Good to have a good track and some protection from the elements. TFTC.
I wanted to get out of the hustle and bustle - and get out of Dunedin. This line of caches did very nicely.
Oh - but the hill. I plodded up surely and slowly (as is the way of the Fangsoki). I slithered up onto the bench to get my breath back. After recovering, I started the hunt. Of course the GPSr had me looking at the wrong side of the track. I soon found the cache safe and sound in its home. It is in good condition. TFTC katie w

Unlikely for some. My 13th cache but it was a straight forward find. My only one for the day. Tried three others up the track, not another find for the day, more to this game than meets the eye. Past a train of 13 old timer trampers on the way up.
Found with Allsmiles13. Lots of muggles about as it was a sunny day in Dunedin so we had to get this one on the way back down. TFTC!

Just (huff huff) a quick (huff huff) park'n'grab (huff huff).
I like the new track base to get up here. Looked in the immediately obvious spot and instantly rewarded. Nice. I did note it' no longer a 1 ltr container though. TFTC!
Cheers,
G.

Today was a great day to go out for a walk - and to find a few caches along the way
A car key came in handy to open this one. Good spot for a rest and neat place for a cache.

Only saw the spoon (cache opening tool) when I put the geocache back. Had no problem getting it open without it though... TFTC
