On our way to Bendigo we stopped near Sunbury to find a couple of caches. This was on our to do list on the Mad Max list. It was a fairly tough one for me and certainly deserved its T3 rating. A crew of environmental workers who were here to work on weeding the area to encourage indigenous vegetation were having lunch. When told why I was there a couple joined me in the search. I kept pointing in the direction the GPS was indicating and distances, trying from different locations. Eventually I used a PAF for help, but it still took some time to find it. I might have converted at least one of this young team of passionate environmentalists to geocaching ! I hope so!
Have been slowly ticking off mad max ones. This one I hadnt got but today we fixed that. Tftc
What a great place for a cache. Wasn't as bad to get to as I thought it would be. Nice hide. Found Tftc
The weather forecast was for lots of wind and rain today so my husband and I decided to go geocaching by car instead of doing some hiking. I have found a few of the MAD MAX MOVIE series years ago and today we were near Sunbury. My husband loves the Mad Max movies so I decided to surprise him and bring him to this cache. After finding a safe parking spot we walked to a good photo location and I had to listen to him tell me about the relevant parts in the movie which featured this location. Ten minutes later I was allowed to walk to GZ and our search began. We were just about to give up when I realised what I was missing. Careful observation, and I soon had the log in my hand.Thank you tackle_head for this cache that I and my muggle husband enjoyed.
Im pretty certain tacklehead didnt set this gory display here but it was certainly a Mad Max gory scene, an explosion of gross bags of dismembered, rotting dead animals. Luckily a quick findThanks for placing and maintaining your caches here tacklehead. Wish a certain other cache of yours could be found so easily lolRegardskbucky
After leaving the silly oclock Cache Crawl event in Sunbury we headed here to make another Mad Max find.Took a few minutes to spot the cache but knowing the COs hides we knew what we were looking for.The log was hard to extract as it was squashed in but the leatherman did the job. Thanks tackle_head for the placement.
Yayyy finally found both after 4th visit so happy wasnt going to give up lucky for me its only just down the rd from home
With dot558 after visiting friends in riddles Creek bypassed to grab this oneThanks for the smile
Holy moly that was a search. Looked for ages in the hot sun and was about to give up. Excellent hide. TFTC
Found with the Nicholas family. The bridge is a fun jog with the geokids. Definitely easier from the Sunbury side
We are in Victoria for a week and were travelling from Melbourne to Ballarat. Just recently I had discovered a YouTube video where a lot of the movie locations from Mad Max were visited. I thought that would be a great idea for a geocaching series. I looked up this location based on what I had found out on that video, and what do you know there was a Mad Max themed cache here. Not only that, it is part of a series. Talk about late to the party. So our trip to Ballarat incurred a detour to this cache. We parked on the wrong side of the bridge and had to walk over the single lane between traffic. When we were all safely across, the search began. I was joined today by Greatjustgreat and Notquiteyet. After. Very short while Greatjustgreat found the cache nicely hidden. The log sheet was in good condition and our three names were signed. All was put back in place and rehidden as found. Thanks very much for placing this cache and creating the series tackle_head. It is now on my list for future visits to Victoria. This is a new favourite cache of ours. Cheers
Visiting Melbourne from Port Macquarie.A very different day to yesterday, with Melbourne's weather back to its cool and wet best. Been a while since any of us had watched Mad Max, sure has changed a lot around here since the movie was filmed. Short yet muddy walk down and the very well hidden cache found. Thanks for the cache
out and about today with muggle partner. This is the first one for the day for us.TFTC tackle head.
Out and about at the early early hours of a Thursday with RoamingHowie collect a few smiley faces.
I had to get to the airport early and RH was a gem and kept me company for 4.5 hours before I flew back to W.A to see the family.
Sneaky sneaky but after seeing who the CO was I had a good idea of the type of hide it will be.
Didn't take too long untill I had cache in hand. Thanks for the hide

Looked for quite a while but no luck. I thought I found something... turned out to be a battery
Found after 30 mins... looking high and low. Answer was somewhere in between.
Given these blue flags, it looks like the developers are coming... and can see temporary fencing not so far away.
Could not open cache but did not persist noting other reports of wet log anyway.

Found after about 30 minutes and by accident in the end. Use the hint, you are not looking for a one litre sistema container. TFTC
Thanks tackle_head for this cache that has been on my periphery for ages. An unsuccessful attempt a long time ago, but being in the area and reading logs that people are still finding it,determined to get it today and was successful. Happy dance!. Replaced log as original one destroyed… wanted to ensure my signature was in it lol.!!Happy trails from Deanside
A spot of caching with RoamingHowie over this side of town - as long as the rain holds off.
Finally!!! Having dnf’d this one twice before, we stopped by for another look. I’ve had this on my watchlist since the first visit. So frustrating every time it gets found. My nemesis is finally a smiley.

The weather wasn’t looking great for today, however it appeared there might be a break in the rain during the middle of the day, so OzHockeyChick and I decided to team up and head west away from the weather. I
Finally we got to redeem this long standing DNF. The log has seen better days and could do with replacement (sorry we didn’t have one with us).

Lucky me! Found the cache within a few minutes. The log is not in great condition though.
This typical Tackle-Head hide took us a a while to find. It would have taken a lot longer if Echidna44 had not used her geo senses and looked more closely at the right object. Clever.
Boabtree and I had a very successful day caching in the Sunbury area.
We clambered down to GZ and started to search. With thoroughness and a bit of luck we found the cache. Thanks tackle_head.

After dropping Marchwood off at the airport, Kiscardi, and I headed to this area to find some caches. This one took some time to find. It turns out the we checked right next to the right spot, but missed on the first pass through all the possibilities. TFTC.
The Whittlesea Mega has been on and off for a long time due to that rotten COVID-19. The sad part is that due to MND I really think this could be my last Mega but I am in the area for a week thanks to my two great SA friends who travelled from SA visiting Ballarat for a couple of days and then moved down to Geelong only to pick me up and we are staying in Craigieburn for a week and then they are taking me back to Geelong. It’s generosity like that Geocaching folk are renowned for, plus all the help that I have received in the past few days and weeks which I will be forever grateful.
This guy was found, signed last November 2022 with my two SA friends who were looking after the ageing Bushfire.
Thanks for placing and looking after this cache. I am slowly getting a few more of these caches logged but for how long I really don't know depends on the body.
The good news is that my MND is progressing a little slower than it could so I am working on going to the Rutherglen Mega. Time will tell, thanks to tackle_head for placing this cache.

Whilst caching in Sunbury today with Tiz13 couldn’t resist doing a Mad Max theme cache. We searched and searched and finally turned over something to reveal the cache. The log was wet so I couldn’t stamp it but sent a photo to the CO as proof. Thanks tackle_head
Last cache for the day reaching GZ with that impressive Dip was nerve racking I'm glad Slowdog was driving..at GZ we both had separate ideas of what and where the cache would be. This worked perfectly as after about 20min Slowdog had the cache in hand.
Congratulations again Slowdog on achieving 1000 cache finds today.
BTW log was too wet to write let alone unroll...I did manage to stamp it but it will need to be replaced, will send photo to CO.

Whittlesea Event trip. Day 9. Caching today with bushfire and brisal5.
Found in the second spot I looked. That was much quicker than I had anticipated. The log sheet is pretty mushy though.
I found your D3.0/T3.0 Micro Traditional called MAD MAX MOVIE - Gellies road at 19:36 on 22 November 2022. It was find #16463 for me. Thank you tackle_head for placing this cache for our enjoyment in the wonderful state of Victoria.

Whittlesea Mega Wobble and Wade Tour: Day 9: We went to Sunbury for the afternoon
Once again myself and Anymules were in Victoria on our way to a Mega event. We made a detour via Geelong and picked up Bushfire. It had been three years since we last all cached together. [^] Today we set out for Sunbury for the afternoon with a pub meal at the local pub. Many caches were found and unless something stood out these will be generic logs.
I don't believe it. Anymules found the cache almost instantly. A closer look and you can spot the differences.
***Thanks tackle_head for putting out this cache and maintaining it for our enjoyment. ***
Logs prepared and published through GSAK.

No luck for us today. There has been a bit of rain and washout lately so not sure how long to spend looking for this elusive object.
Very chuffed to find this one today after all the DNF's and lack of recent logs. It's still there. TFTC!
First lost my 7 day streak to finding it on a whim!
Everyone don’t be scared, where some good gloves and stay out of the heat. Thanks! You’ve got my favourite ️

Tip 1. Try and go with a car if you can, the effort to bike ride around is very dangerous.
Tip 2. Watch out for snakes!
Couldn’t find ! Such a shame with 2 hours exercise allowed I lost my 7 day streak. Hope it’s still there!

I was here last year.
Sadly on that occasion I walked away dejected.
A common issue with some of your hides.
Yesterday I couldn't find two of the caches that I looked for. Amazingly they were my own caches.
After a pleasant drive out to Bacchus Marsh we headed north and finally made our way home via Tullamarine.
As we neared this side road I noticed the blue frown staring back at me.
Not wanting to take our elderly GeoMutts down here I left them in the car with +Wife.
Now last time I spent over an hour scrutinizing anything that looked likely. Today I had the cache in hand in a few minutes.
Interestingly the previous finders to actually sign the log were Jason, Eddy & Neville.
Go figure.
Thanks Max
Deserves a fav point for the location and back story if not the hide.

Back for another look today. Unfortunately, despite a thorough search, no luck here today.
Will put a watch on it.
Will put a watch on it.
Out and about with 80 degrees clearing out some more in Sunbury. Not being a Mad Max follower but happy to give this one a look. Checked it out well and now joy like to 2 previous caches. Maybe it needs to be checkesd.
Out and about for a third day of caching around Sunbury width xambo4u.. Searched high and low but like others before us no sign of the cache. Will try again after CO checks it.
Searched everywhere but was unable to come up with the goods today.
Brought a replacement log to add to the cache container if we found it but no signs at all at GZ.

As with time fading with age, so to does the memory fade after 3 yrs of finding it as to which one it is hiding under. I was in the right spot, but I can't see it or it has rolled on (down the hill) like Mad Max did. Hard with the long grass and lots to look under. Had a look while passing through town.
I gave this a serious go — 15 min or so — but just couldn’t conjure it up. But I’m glad I came! Thanks for bringing me out here.
Today we were on one of our travel all over the place chasing smileys with Ausfox; and Neville_devil. We were particularly after higher favourite point caches for the current souvenirs but were also grabbing anything in our path as we were heading to our target caches.
When we got to GZ I though hmmm this could take a while but fortunately Ausfox; directed Neville_devil to check something at Neville's feet and bingo.
Thank you tackle_head for the hide and the series

Out for the day with Simsfamily and Neville Devil to cache around Pykes creek, Melton and Sunbury areas. The weather wasn't the best but it didn't dampen our enthusiasm.
I'm always keen to do a Tackle_head MadMax cache and go through the scene in my head.
This one had us looking around, but didn't take long to find the hide.
Log signed and replaced as found

I'm slowly knocking off these Mad Max caches. Since I was visiting a muggle friend nearby I made a quick detour on my way home to find this cache. His comment before I left? "I don't think you're going to find it, sounds like a needle in a haystack if you ask me." Lol, just made me more determined to find it and prove him wrong! I have found enough tackle_head caches to know exactly what I was looking for, so how hard could it be? Didn't even bother with the GPSr, just used my geo-senses, narrowing down the possibilities to a couple of hundred rocks, lol. But I had another card up my sleeve, I made a few educated guesses, and voila – cache was found after approximately 5 minutes of looking. Phew! Headed back to the car and immediately messaged my doubtful muggle friend that he was wrong. Thanks for the cache
Heading home after a few days out caching with my brother Snap Happy. Stopping off to grab some of the caches along the route I wouldn' normally take but giving the opportunity to visit some different country side and stretch the legs.
Thought this may have taken me some time but I got lucky and had it in hand, after only looking under a few rocks. Can really imagine this area being used in the movie.
I am currently writing detailed logs because of a challenge provided by Project-GC. "The Author" Badge challenges geocachers to average one hundred words or more in each log. As of the start of 2018 my average was only 47 words per log, which seems a long way from the 100 target. Given that I have found so many GC caches, I have to write many logs with well over 100 words for a long period of time to get my average to the target. Apologies to anyone who finds the logs tedious but it is the only way that I can strive to attain this challenge. After over 7000 plus caches (which includes all cache finds up and including yesterday), the average log length is just over 50 words. I am now entertaining the possibility that I might be able to achieve my task before the end of next year. It's surprising how much is has increase since doing this.
Thanks tackle_head for placing the cache for us to find and doing the maintenance to keep it in play.

That was fun!! Took us all over the area. Went by the location on the satellite. One of us turned it over and one point and didn’t notice it. Kept looking and noticed than one was just slightly different and I found it! Really enjoyed that, thank you.
Thanks tacklehead, I find your caches a great challenge. Appreciate your commitment tftc

Caching around Sunbury, ticked all the boxes for a great day out. Trads, multis and mysterys, all with high quality, well maintained hides - the perfect place if you wanted to introduce a new player to the game. Informative cache pages, gave us insight into the history and quirky tales of the area.
Tricky hide, but a classic tackle_head. There must be only three or four scenes to cover before we complete the movie!
Thanks tackle_head for placing caches for everyone's enjoyment.

Find # 209. I had this cache in mind for months to get, but knowing the terrain, number of rocks, the previous DNF, and the head high grass that could be hiding slithering natives, I was putting this off for ages when I could summon up the time to commit a long search. Today was the day. Was pleasantly surprised by the grass killed by spraying and non-existant, and not too many rocks. After traversing the steep terrain I decided I better do up my boot laces as I was committed to a long search until sundown. I lined up where it should be based on the satellite image, and began the search. While waiting for the satellites to acquire on my GPS I thought I would make a start.
One was a (tiny) bit different so I thought I would start there. Well there it was - the first one. Sneaky little camouflage as they all look the same - almost. So with the time saved in searching I spent the time exploring the river and the bridge that Mel drove under in the movie. The river was flowing nicely, with the calls of the frogs in symphony. The log had a previous entry dated 1/6/17 by "The Green Geckos" (but not on the cache page. Cool, SL, thanks tackle_head for another adventure. Cache & log in perfect condition.

Arrived from Perth early this morning, hopeful this would be my first GC find in Victoria; alas not to be. Examined various rocks, moments I thought I had it turned out to be a snail or beer bottle. Thank you for making this location known!

With the sometimes reluctant geokids in attendance today we headed out to Sunbury to pick up a few more of the plentiful hides in this area.
I've now found a few in this series so wasn't expecting an easy find at GZ but thankfully after a quick search the sunlight caught something and I spotted the tiny hide. I imagine you could be looking for this one for quite a while, so happy to see if quickly here this afternoon.
Thanks for the cache tackle head and the work taken to match these destinations with such an iconic movie. It's very interesting to view the stills from the movie and match them up against what the areas look like today.

We were passing through the area today, so we stopped to find this one. After finding a suitable carpark, we headed down to GZ. The cache page and logs had us a bit confused about what we were looking for - was it a micro or a 1L container?
After a bit of a search, we found the micro and signed the log. Upon searching for the mark of a cacher who I had known to have found this cache, I came up empty, and so we gave them a call. Turns out they found the 1L container, and so their name was in THAT log. After a short further search, we came up empty on the larger container, and left GZ with our name in the micro. Thanks for the cache(s)?

We finally had a chance to return to this cache after our last attempt and DNF. This time we noticed a number of recent finds so our hopes were up. We finally turned up the right thing to reveal the medium cache - not what we were expecting. Opened, signed log and returned, to then find the micro cache (the one we expected) right next to it...will only log one though
Another great Mad Max spot - thanks tackle head for the great series. Now number 8 of 20 to get.

Luckily read some previous logs so I knew to look for a micro, not a 1 litre sistema as per description...
Picked this one to be our 366th cache, for our 1 year geocaching anniversary, giving us a one per day average
Was expecting a difficult hunt, so I did have another sunbury cache up my sleeve in case we were going to be logging a DNF on this one.
Down the slope we went, geokid7 leading the way. Managed to get to within a metre & there was a suspicious looking area at my feet. A very quick & easy find.
Perhaps we should pop over to Eagle Rock after all hey Steve? Haha
TFTC, very clever.

Found while baby sitting Grand Daughter, well she was first to see hide among the rocks, she being closer to ground level than me, signed log and returned, as found, Thanks tackle head for this and your other caches which have been a bane to me
Had this one on my list for ages. After a couple hours at woodlands, decided to come home this way. Nice drive along this road. Lovely spot and clever hide. Got home and looked up the final scene of the movie!!! Can't wait to do the others in this series now
Tftc. Been waiting to do this one since starting caching. Thought it would take ages to find, when daughter said whats that.
I've lost count of how many times I have been here. Once when the grass was tall and snakes would have been plentiful, so I limited my time. Another time was after a burn off and I was looking for a largish container snuck under a rock and left convinced it wasn't there. Then as I became more familiar with the cachers of the area, I realised that Mr Tackle Head, is not a run-of-the-mill hider... Off I went again, this time with geo-hubby but still we were unsuccessful, but I will blame the excessive heat for my lack of success. I have been watching the Facebook groups for local geocachers, and soon got a BIG HINT of what to look for. So today I headed off with Geo-hubby once again and this time the GPS took me to a slightly different area, and in a flash Geo-hubby had it in his hands. "Found it!" rang through the valley as he held it up, a la Lion King! (Well not quite!) Thank you for the brain stretching cache that sat there on the map taunting me, which now is a happy little smiley! TFTC (and you get a favourite!)
