Yay, persistence paid off as I returned with Aurora11511. Back to the fun zone and her eagle eyes located the cache, lickety-split. No views at GZ but 4 island view from the trial, including the one we're on! TFTC Crystal Fairy
DNF, but not giving up. May i ask what the cache lpoks like please, to help my brain?
Not my day. Similar journey to others, stoat trap, stooping, but no cache at the end
TFTC!! bit of a hike to get there, but cool view of the harbour! Quite overgrown, so I wouldnt recommend it to young kids, but still fun!
A calm clear day to be caching around Papakowhai. Approached GZ along the bait trail from the main walkway, but the going wasn't so clear cut after the stoat trap. Took a bit of route finding through the undergrowth to get to GZ. Once there, though, soon found after a short search of likely spots. Signed the log and returned as found. Outer bag is deteriorating, so container not as waterproof as it once was. Tftc!
Parked at and approached from Almora View.
Had tried this one time months ago but failed to find it.
Today, reception seemed to be a lot clearer and took me directly to it.
Someone told me the trees and bush were a lot smaller back in the day when you could see the 3 islands.
Not so anymore due to the growth.
With a little walk further in the right direction, you can see these, though.
The outer bag was ripped, but the container seemed fine. Log decent.
Cheers.
Sleepy was here!

Came in from Idaho Place which was much less of a track than OSM suggested! After that I scouted the area and found decent access right to the last 15 m, then some stooping was in order. Cache was a quick find, and certainly no concerns about being observed Cheers CrystalFairy!
I was in the area tonight collecting a few caches, and this was one of them. Wasn't sure where the best access point was going to be, until I got as close as I could along the path and then saw a bit of a trail leading in the right direction. I followed that, thinking this was gonna be easy, and it was up until the GPS read 10m. Then things got a bit trickier. Managed to make my way through the growth until the GPS said 0m, then looked down and whatta ya know, there was a cache. That never happens. As per the instructions, I checked around for anyone who might be watching me and when I was sure the coast was clear I retrieved the cache, signed the log and returned as found. phew, completely unobserved! Cache was in great condition, all safe and dry. TFTC.
We had to imagine what the view must have been like when the cache was placed as there is certainly nothing to see from GZ now! However we enjoyed the path to get here and there are some awesome views from there. TFTC
A lot further down than expected but the coords proved very accurate once the GPS settled. Thought we were stumped (hint hint!) for a while but eventually found in a likely spot. TFTC.
Great to have a cache in a largely urban area and still off the beaten track. Tip for the finder unhappy with the twigs and scratches - if approaching an environment you're not happy with, turn around and go back. Alternatively, find a mug of concrete, proceed and enjoy

30minutes bush bashing and a few orchids we knew we must be doing it wrong as jeevas had found it while we were on a different track
We got there eventually

Wooohoo! Persistence paid off!!!
Unfortunately this cashe is in rough condition. Log is dry. Unfortunately this was an unplanned geo so we don't have a pen. I have attached photo evidence.

Interesting cache. Geeves90 and I were on the totally wrong track with a bit of bush bashing. Gave up and after a "pit stop" thought we would give it another and some success.
I was about to give up on this one as I just could not get to where the phone GPS was indicating. After 20 minutes I retreated and waited to see if the GPS changed its mind! It did and 3 minutes later I had cache in hand. Was a bit of a thorny bush bash though so come prepared. TFTC.
A bit of a bush bash and getting my bearings and soon had cache in hand. TFTC.
This was the second of two caches we found in this area this afternoon on a walk with the geohound. I expect the vegetation is somewhat denser here 10 years on from when the cache was first placed because it really is quite thick. To put it bluntly, it was quite unpleasant struggling through the scrub, branches and suchlike in the direction the coords were indicating. Also had a certain amount of difficulty figuring out where exactly I needed to be heading. My initial false start had me caught up in thorny vegetation that was clinging to my clothing and scratching any exposed skin. Not a lot of fun! I’m aware this sounds like a bit of a gripe and it probably is! However I did say to myself at the time that this was one of the least pleasant searches in which I’d been involved in a long time! On the positive side, I did eventually manage to find it, and the cache itself is in good nick! The coords on my iPhone were about 3m out. #2865. TFTC.
A bit of scratchy twig navigation required for this one, but was straightforward to find at the final co’ords.
Took a walk around this track to find some caches today, and managed this one after a tight and difficult bush bash. Great final and some gorgeous views. TFTC!
Went to the edge of the clearing, and app said we were still 12m away.. lovely views all the same
Nice walk today, GPS lead me off the track and into the bush. A bit of a geo trail, has not see feet for a while and the fallen tree was a barrier for only a short time. Pushed through and was time to start searching. Not long and came up with the goods. Formalities completed and on my way.
TFTC.
TFTC.
I was so intent on following the GPS that I missed the obvious path to GZ and wondered how I was supposed to cross the gully through the bush. All became obvious as I backtracked along my route. The fallen tree seems to have been cut up. It still presents something of an obstacle but nothing like it obviously once did.
The coordinates are good, so I had a quick find once I passed it.
There was a small amount of water in the cache - not enough to bother the bagged log book, but the [WENZ 2018](https://coord.info/GC78NMQ) card is soggy and falling apart. I left it for now as it's still readable, but it will need to be replaced before long.

Not the best for a dark wet night! I wonder what this would be like during the day. Thank goodness for LED headlamps!
all good at GZ after a long search. In the dark certainly more than a T1.5.

Hoping to see you at the [Oamaru Geofest](https://www.geocaching.com/geocache/GC6M2V0_oamaru-geofest-2017) during Labour Weekend 21-22 October 2017. Let's all help this a successful event!
Thanks to the Cache Owner who has gone to the trouble of creating this cache, determining the coordinates and then averaging them to make sure they are accurate, placing the cache and registering it online for our enjoyment. Without Cache Owners doing their bit, there wouldn't be a fun hobby that we all love - so again a big THANK YOU. For our bit, all we need to do is find and log the cache that was carefully placed for our personal enjoyment. As we log it we should consider that the Cache Owner also needs to maintain it - when the log sheet fills up, they must replace it. When the container becomes full of water, they need to empty it. When the container is broken, they need to repair it. When it goes missing they need to find or replace it. Well..... the great news is we can do our bit too - make sure your log doesn't take an entire page - just a name and date. If full of water, empty and dry the cache as best as possible. Be careful when handling the cache and make sure you replace it where you found it. If it has a bag, seal it. Just remember - the Cache Owner showed respect to you by placing the cache - please respect them and fellow cachers that follow you by being careful with the cache. And if you have a spare log sheet and the cache you are at needs one, please leave it behind. Finally, if the cache does need maintenance, please let the Cache Owner know - you can log a Maintenance Log or you can drop a line to the Cache Owner. Above all - have fun and remember the Geocaching Code.

This easy one ended up with a bit of a story. Took a short cut from a nearby road. Big mistake. Got to near the bottom of the grass path and didn't notice a slippery wet muddy patch. Well down I went leaving me with smelly mud all over my trousers and top. Even my underwear was drenched. Not a nice feeling. Biggest slide since I was a youngster.
Decided to carry on and get this cache and another one on the track. Read past logs and went around the tree and quickly found the container.
Got back to my car and knew I had a couple of bottles of water in the boot. So grabbed them and a rag and retreated to a quiet area in the nearby bush. Pretty much cleaned up my top and trousers of the mud and smell. Waited for a few minutes for things to start drying using the breeze.
All done and on to a couple of nearby multis. Ah the world of caching. TFTC

Bit of a stroll along the ridge before diving down to grab the cache. Terrain rating may still be a bit low. Hardest terrain 1.5 I've done. Great views today with the sun shining bright. Well hidden from all the neibours now also. Thanks for the cache.
The cache is not readily accessible because of a tree felled in a really awkward place. Either the terrain needs to be bumped up a few points to reflect what is now required to get to it or else it should be relocated. That's assuming the tree is not going anywhere.
I can see why there have been a bunch of DNFs for this but I figured it's almost certainly still there. I got to within 10m then, hmmm, now what? A tree has been felled in the path to the cache and it's not easy to get over/around. But after a bit of agility testing the cache is indeed beyond it. Not too hard to find once you're in the vicinity. View wasn't too flash today because of low cloud but it hadn't yet started raining.
3rd dnf in the last 3 months. Area has had trees chopped down etc and there are no clues to help either. Owner should either remove or confirm and update info
Got my feet very wet while looking for this cache, due to heavy frost the night before which had melted and left very wet long grass. Caching is often a challenge, however, and it's worth it when you get the smiley face. GPS was bouncing around a bit, but thanks to a bit of geocaching instinct, the cache was soon in hand and log signed. Tftc.
#1793 One of the few caches left unfound for me in this area. Swung by on the way home from work and meandered up to the cache site- lovely spot. TFTC- love all these walkways and always nice to have a bonus of a cache to find while wandering.
#529. Found another spectacular boardwalk to climb up and get onto the trail. Luckily I resisted my first instincts to go the direct route crosscountry. That would have been fun...not. Soon found a better path and yes a geotrail of sorts. A likely cache hiding place came into view and yes indeed there it was. The new dry logbook had just one signature - placed by Renard & Co back in April 2014. So yet another lonely cache. GeoGojira didn't look very hard for this dry logbook to sign. TFTC
Awesome walk Medium in difficulty to find a lot of bush waking but followed the path thanks to other Geocachers couldn't sign name paper was SOAKED! But will come back when it's dryer and sign it!!
Second DNF converted to a smiley. This fox is no fool today! Very hot and still. Hazy South Island view. Had to go further down hill than last visit to hone in on the GZ location.
Have replaced 'log sheet' with a new book in a new plastic bag and removed rusting pencil sharpener.
Met muggles with Dogs almost straight away. Signed the handy bit of cardboard in the cache. TFTC
Followed previous cachers' tracks in the grass for a fairly quick find. Having read previous logs, went prepared with my log on a piece of waterproof paper, and sure enough, the log book is still saturated.
Don't know where we went wrong. Got rather hot and bush bashed and then ran out if time.
#13 Cache Found. Was an awesome bush experience. Had to hide from a muggle standing on his balcony from the houses from the street the walkway entrance is on. I forgot writing instrument took photo of Log will return to sign when I visit a nearby multicache. TNLN TFTC

1st attempt I went too late and took the wrong route causing me to walk on the streets of Papakowhai felt pretty stupid lol
I know where to go for my next try though

A quick escape with PT-S to get some exercise before the light went this evening. Lovely views on the way to and from the Cache. Logbook is unusable, so added our names to the cardboard. TFTC
Quick find but as someone mentioned, everything is soaked and unusable so we left our names on a piece of card
Needs immediate maintenance. It is not possible to use the log in this cache to sign in your visit.
Recommend that the CO list the cache as "inactive" until maintenance can be carried out.

Here on a very encouraging September spring day. That was good.
The cache find was not difficult, but the state of the cache itself is lamentable. The log is in tatters, and soaked through. I signed in on a piece of bark that had been used by the cacher who visited here on the day previous.
Some TLC desperately needed here I'm afraid. And this was a continuing theme as the afternoon's finds wore on.

Find #143 for the BAMMJams - followed the GPS and it lead us right to the cache. Log is incredibly soggy, we weren't able to write on it, and didn't have a spare log to chuck in, sorry. The mini-BammJams didn't take anything out, but did add a dice to the few trinkets that were in there. Took a photo of the cache, which I will upload when I'm on the right computer. TFTC!
I was getting a bit tired of these gully walks out here but thought I'd give this last one a go tonight. Followed the trail in the grass (wich is fairly long at the moment) all the way down to the GZ. Once in the area it took a few minuites to find the correct one. Go there though. TFTC
Needs maintenance, log was extremely wet but managed to write name on.....just. A find is a find nonetheless.

Going stir crazy in side with Princess Emily so we shot on up to this one in between showers today. Fantastic view from the top. TFTC
Easy find no hint needed TFTC. My thanks to the Gnomes Hunters for giving me first crack at this cache when we bumped into each other about 40 metres from it.

Only two islands visible today. Quick find after bumping into Aquakiwi. TFTC
Relatively quick find at GZ, after a wee bush-bash. Needs a new log! Current log is a supermarket receipt, and interior of bag is a bit damp. As we went to replace the cache found what looks like the remnants of the original log, but i'm pretty certain it's not recoverable. Nice & dry though! Have enclosed it inside the cache bag.
TFTC, and some cool views, but we couldn't see the South Island today.

Bush bashed to the cache, but it needs a new logbook as we didn't find one, we found a wet soggy mess . Wrote our names on a receipt. TFTC
View of the South island was a little cloudy but Mana was very clear. The water was calm as and would have been a great day for boating, shame mines in Taupo.

Found after a bit of a search, great views even though the scrub is getting fairly tall at GZ. TFTC.
Found with Dani Cuff. Definately a bush bash and plants are sharp and scratch legs.
Couldn't log as book is ruined. Got photo if required for proof.
Understand it was created for an expired event but it still gets visited. DESPERATELY NEEDING TLC!

I must agree. It is a bit of a bush bash but my dog loved it. Sorry I couldn't sign the book either. Just Tooooo wet. Thanks for bringing me to a great spot.
Spring has got and she's a.bush bash to the GZ now!
Terrain much higher than 1.5
As previous logs say log book is mush. Have a photo as proof.

Not sure what route is recommended to GZ as the walk from Harbour Views was definitely not a 1.5 terrain - more like a 3. Thankfully the steep clay section was dry as it would have been a bigger challenge in the wet.
The views were excellent and the cache didn't take long to track down, but the logbook is unsignable as it is a sodden mush.

#4132. The last bit of the walk down was over somewhat uneven terrain. The cache was soon located. Didn't sign the log as it was soaked. TFTC.
Excellent view, and a good hide. I was misled by an alternative hide site very nearby, but a little persistence found the cache.
The container was half full of water, and everything inside, including the log was soaked. Tried to dry everything off as best I could. Attempted to sign the log, but had to be careful not to rip the paper, so my log line may not be that clear.

After having found three others this morning all on well-established pathways, this one was a little surprise. Nice location. Cache was mostly exposed, so re-hid well in same area. Took geocoin to move on its journey. TFTC!
I enjoyed going through the bushes on this one, and traded a rattle for a jandal. Dad taught me I can only swap one item at a time - probably a lesson I will need more than once. TFTC!
btw Log book will say Purple Butterfly, because that's what I wanted to call myself, but someone else had the name.

Out for a short walk on a very humid afternoon.
Spent a bit of time looking before sending the littlest geo-kid into the bush to check something.
Sure enough he grabbed it.
