Having an explore around the Spotswood are picking some geos along the way. Spotted the cache straight away having picked up one of these containers only a week ago.
A very interesting read regarding the Steam Car Ferry. The area certainly looks different today, as we wander over to GZ. Thanks to the hint, it was a nice quick find.Thank you tackle_head for highlighting the history of this area for us.
Avenging a dnf from ages ago, if it was in this spot last time I was here, no clue how I missed it! Tftc
Charged out to where I expected it to be without looking at where it should be before realising there wasn't far to walk after all. Tftc.
My s9n had a curriculum day so I thought we'd take advantage of the lovely sunny day to do a bit of caching. This one was the third location of the afternoon but our first find. TFTC
Nice, easy find. Found the cache on the ground, so put it back where the hint said. TFTC
Great little fast easy catch of the day. Forgot my pen so took a photo of log for proof. TFTC
Forgot to log this one yesterday Arrived at the GZ and found this cache very quickly. Love these containers TFTC
One of the challenges that I am working on is finding 20 geocaches in every Victorian LGA. Over 3 different visits to the Hobson Bay LGA, I am now up to 16 finds. Today was the day to finish off this LGA and I seemed to have done it in style. 19 finds and no DNFs in this LGA. Most of them by Rob MC, so big thanks to this CO. Lots of fishermen in the area, but all too busy to notice what I was doing. Thanks for the cache, tackle head.Hunter
Well, it has certainly been a very busy weekend of driving all over the place as I ran some errands and went geocaching at the same time. My geocaching partner and I had previously come down to this cute little spot and attempted to find the geocache however we were unsuccessful after seeing that tackle head has recently replaced this geocache. I decided to pop on by and attempt to find it. Thank you very much tackle head for coming down and replacing this geocache, and while it does not count as an FTF it was a pleasure to be the first to sign a new log
Checked all the obvious posts and couldnt see a bolt anywhere - unless the cooridinates are wrong
Had a good hunt for the cache, but no luck today. The pickerly bush has no leaves currently, so it should have been easy to spot.
Found with icw. I think some CO intervention is need here. We found the cache on the ground, not as the hint suggested. Tftc.
ferry number 2 so prior to 1931."Williamstown Advertiser 25th November 1933.PRICE OF OLD AGE AND DECAY.THE OLD STEAM FERRY FOR SALE.A 20 OFFER.The old steam ferry which in its day rendered very valuable service, which cost many thousands of pounds, and which transported hundreds of thousands of vehicles and persons safely across the river at the Short Road, is up for sale, and the price offered is 20.The Engineer ( Mr. Rose ) reported to the Public Works Committee meeting on Tuesday night that he had received a verbal offer from Mr. Blunt, of Nelson Place, of 20 for the old ferry as it stood, but without chains"It later sold for 35 to another party.
tftc! Cache is kinda fenced off atm but there is a small gap in the fence you may have to enter in order to find it, personally i would disable it for the time because it is off limits
Tricky one because I came after dark. Eventually found what I was looking for and signed the log. TFTC
Out around the area and came to grab this , was worried at first with area roped off but found it safe
Thanks
Thanks
*The TDOC23 Ice Cream Day Event Adventure #2*
Yep, I'm up for ice cream. And events. And events involving ice cream. But I'm up early for a few other caches too.
I'm on my bike, winding my way up to spotswood. This one was an easy win, in total contrast to the first cache of the evening.
Thanks heaps for the cache!

So much history here, both past and present. Thanks for explaining about the Steam Car Ferry and the reason it is no longer in service tackle_head. SL at 12.40pm after replacing the full log sheet. #9983 TFTC and now to head back home in the north east of the State after a great long weekend in Williamstown.
Dropped off a primary school at the near by science works so found a parking spot and came for a stroll took a few minutes to find right post once that done an easy find was made LOG Full TFTC
After a weekend away taking my niece on her first camping trip, I packed up my base in Anglesea and set off for home. Via Geelong, Williamstown and a few other stops of course.
After a stop in Geelong to have lunch with DonutHoles I set off to Williamstown… or so I thought. Just as I was leaving I heard an announcement on the radio that the Princes Freeway had been closed due a truck rollover and sand being spilled across the entire road.
I quickly got off the freeway before getting stuck and so began a long alternative journey to Williamstown, via a cache or two.
This was quite a prickly find which I had to dodge some muggles to get.
Thanks tackle_head for adding this cache to the worldwide collection for us all to enjoy.

We were up for a post-dinner digestive walk after grazing at Grazeland. Parked at the dog park and worked out which gate would open to get us on the bike path. A bit of a shoelace tie at GZ and then on our way. TFTC.
Out running some errands - took a slight detour
Didn’t have a pen so photo of visit for proof

Waiting for cars to bugger off first . Seriously it’s pouring down rain and people are hanging around here?!
Interesting story thanks so much tackle_head for the cache was an easy find.. the activity log helps too. On a roll today...bring it on!
Out on Sunday morning at Newport Athletics track and had scoped out this cache. Quite busy and, apart from an industry feel due to the power plant, a lovely spot. TFTC
TFTC tackle_head for placing this. Such a great location with such wonderful history, not hard to imagine with the help of your pics. Lucky all the fisher muggles were busy watching the container ships pass & kids were busy playing sport, so a quick grab was not too hard.

Loved the history on this one!! Clue a little deceiving given we didn’t actually find a bolt per-say. Still, great cache. Thanks for another one tackle_head
A nice quick find today as we took the scenic route home through Williamstown. Thanks for placing.
Thanks, long walk, fun with the seals patrol of 4th Williamstown scouts, great night
A nice quick find on a beautiful day. Not too many people around which made it a bit easier, but the Border Force smiled as they drove past!
Continuing our tour of Williamstown we came down to check out the ferry landing. Thanks for the hide.
Spiffy- and I planned a cache day Sunday but the target area was a little undecided. Mainly because rain was coming. Finally we settled on Altona and the large trad trail. So we loaded the stealth bikes in and headed off. Driving there rain was falling, but it was only 10am and it was due at 3pm. Parked at the skate park and still a few spots of rain but so warm so we headed off. A few caches in I went back to my for rain jackets which I wore for only a few minutes then carried. Ironically arrived home sunburnt.
After the ride with Spiffy- I had a 8km run and freestyled to get a few extra to make an even 50 for the day. Found with the hint.
Thanks to tackle_head for the placement and fun.

I can't imagine a time without the Westgate Bridge, as a Millennial it just seems impossible. It seems especially impossible when I drive over the Westgate in peak hour. The ferry would have been a bit of fun, something I can see my Grandfather bringing the family over from Mount Waverly just to experience, and for an excuse to get fish and chips and ice cream in Williamstown. A great little spot. This was only the second week after lockdowns were lifted, so the area was very busy. Luckily, all the car parks up here were taken, so no one really appearing. Grabbed quickly, signed, and out. I loved the old guard house down the road. Thanks Robmc!
Grub62 had this cache in hand while I was still catching up. Nice hide tackle_head TFTC & NTNL.
After Fish and Chips near the water Bunadoorian and I went for a walk in the sunshine. This was our second find today. I love the Car Carrier ships - I use to enjoy watching them on the Port Authority Webcam unloading the cars off the ships when I couldn't sleep. I find it fascinating to watch them unload cars and on other docks moving the Shipping Containers around with the straddle carriers! I found this nicely hidden cache today. TFTC tackle_head.
Not found. Looks all around including all posts. Can someone confirm it’s still here?
