Came back for a more extensive search with the right tools. I reckon it’s gone.
Well that was fun..not! Bit scared of bush bashing and spiders but I found it. Thanks
Close by the parkland dropping off stuff for a tower build so while waiting to be in loaded I went for a walk and grab this cache

We thought we would be brave and try to find this one even though it's almost 30° close to the bush. Easy find though. Tftc
Definitely read the description about finding a path up the embankment. Thankfully it was spotted easily, although the route from there to the cache was laced with spiders and their bountiful webs Recommended to wear closed shoes instead of thongs as there's a lot of broken glass around...
Wednesday 16 August 2017 - another glorious warm sunny blue Skyed Winter's day in the mid 20s finding 3 from 3 caches. Here from Canberra to support MuggleDaughter and visiting MuggleSonInLaw in GCUH recovering from brain surgery yesterday. Given recovery is going great guns I took the opportunity to get some exercise walking 6.2km in less than 2 hrs to see a fair bit the Griffith Uni surroundings. Quick and easy find once the hint was read and understood as GZ was out by 5m. This is the 2nd of this series found. TFTC PPTrekerz.
It was a relatively easy find. The description stated this third Southport Railway series cache was the most challenging of the three, but I did not find it any more difficult than the others.
Found with the kids, I'm sure my dad has got some stories about the old railway. He did for the railway cache at Coolangatta. Thanks
Mrs RoddyC solo today. Cache had become dislodged from host and was in the open. Returned to host.
Log signed and replaced again. Found at 10.20am 29.4.17.

Out enjoying a walk on a lovely afternoon. Headed toward cache and I think I found the most difficult way to reach it. Found after a short search but about 7m off GZ. Then made my way out on an easier track.
Thanks GPS-RNAV for placing & maintaining the cache for us to find.

Just as I pulled up to park on Wardoo St, the rain became quite heavy. However I was determined to get this cache which was done without much trouble. I added some camo to the cache as it was in plain sight.

cache find #2903. a lovely cool day to stroll to GZ. With forbiddenground and cantcacheus2014, the cache was located quickly. TFTC.
Out with friends today to complete the D/T 25 challenge, we chose this cache as one for the chart. Found jointly with Gullivers Travells54 & Forbiddenground. Tftc
Found the camel and cache below it. Great spot. Thanks for the spider web tip. Picked up a long stick and cleared the webs out of the way.
Found at 5.55pm Love this cache. PARKED just before the lights and crossed the road and down the footpath. Love history and tyrone collects many old histroical items so this spot was something we loving seeing and specially the old fence line left behind. Signed and replaced TFTC.
Cache in perfect condition.

Can you please tell me where to park for this cache. I am not a local to the Gold Coast. I have no knowledge of where train lines are now or used to be. I drove to Woomera Crescent which I am now assuming was my best bet but I have no idea because it is hardly a parking bay area and I am not sure how much I feel comfortable on parking on someone's lawn. This is what it feels like to be someone not from the Gold Coast. All streets only turn left. If you miss a turn feel free to do a blockie which ultimately turns into a freeway sitting in traffic which could take years.
Found with my mum lisylou and sister GeokidAlexis on a hot day. Cute camel picture. Tftc
A bit tricky scrambling up here but ok. Quick find with my mum lisylou and sister GeokidEricca. Tftc
Some nice art work here. Easy find with the geokids on holidays at the coast. Tftc
For the last couple of years we have been intensely researching the old South Coast railway line. Most of our study has been based on the Tweed Heads branch but its good to occasionally look at the Southport branch as well as well. Where possible, we have tried to walk along the route where it still exists. Most of what remains are only short sections in poor condition so we were delighted to find this section both still very much intact and utilized as a designated pedestrian/cycle pathway.
While the cache is only a short distance in off Wardoo Street (or is that section Kumburri Ave?), its well worth walking down to where it exits near Smith Street (a distance of about 700-800m), not only will you see the cuttings; several of which are over 12 feet high, but also the swamp on the southern side of the track. We found remains of the old quarry about 650m from the cache site, although there is not much physical evidence left. Most interesting to steel wheel buffs is where the old meets the new. In other words where the new tram bridge crosses over where the Southport line ran.
Since I knew that the cache was in desperate need of maintenance I've left a new container and logsheet, taking the lid-less eclipse container and remains of the current logbook. The camel picture is still in place for all to enjoy. The new container is a small plastic screw top vitamin bottle.
We had an interesting walk, thanks for the cache.

Found it. Thanks! Unfortunately the lid is missing from the tin so paper is wet and unreadable. We have left a camel picture which we found on the way here.

Out with MrsGreenGeckos in my quest to leave Australia (for the US) on 999 caches found.
We tackled this one so that I could fill out some of the missing squares on my 3/3 Well Rounded Cacher. Easy find, once we tackled the terrain.

Out with Mischievous Maverick today for some Public Holiday fun. MM insisted on finding this one as it ticked off a square on his DT grid. Thank you GPS-RNAV for placing this cache
down on the coast for the day and this is the first
for some reason we thought this was an archived on in the GPS
so glad it is still active
a bit cool on the walk in as it was just before sunrise
by the time we walked out the sun was just poking out to say hello
so want that TARDIS

Down the coast for the day to pick up a few caches for the August challenge and that will bring my average up.

Found it on a lovely sunny winters day.......thank you for the history lesson......while standing on track and looking around at the bush l happened to notice a bit of a bump in one of the trees......so walked over a bit closer to see what it is (must get those new glasses) and sitting very still as they do..... were two Tawny Frogmouths.....one heard the foot steps in the under growth and put his head high in the air and pretended to be a tree....so cute to see two together tftc
Out on the geocycle today trying to find some smileys so my numbers are right for a milestone on Saturday. A rain front had just passed over, and I was hoping to grab a few before the next downpour hits.
Nobody along the path this morning, so hunting was easy. The hint took me straight to GZ thanks

Every now and again I realise that there are a few that I have missed picking up for some unknown reason. This old railway line makes a great walk/bikeway.I now have all 3 Southport Railway caches. Thanks GPS-RNAV.
Interesting location. Thanks for the history lesson on the railway. I can just imagine a train rumbling through here. The cache container could do with replacing at some stage however. Also it's amazing the things you see when caching - has nobody else spotted the Tardis nearby?! TFTC. SL.
Nice quick find due to good hint and good coords. Huge spider on web to be avoided otherwise all good. Cache container has seen better days and maybe a larger container could be hidden here. Tftc. 29/04/13 3:38 PM
Last stop before work. Doh! Parked the geotruck on the main road and headed in. Short walk to GZ and then up the embankment. Quickly found the old fence post and the cache that awaits. Man that eclipse container is down there deep. Fingers just aren't long enough for this one. I think I should have brought my magnet. Found a couple of sticks and managed to eventually get the little bugger out. Signed log and jammed a few broken sticks into the hole before replacing the cache. All good. Thanks for the cache and the history GPS-RNAV. Off to work
Found! Nice track through here, the tin is still in good nick but might need replacing soon, a little rusted and the lid has come off, be aware of the barbed wire on the ground when you approach GZ.
Its Christmas Eve the shoppings done & groceries purchased, so its now time to do some caches.
With my sisters who will log her first find today, we visited many parks, gardens, bush bashed & did some lovely walks.
Merry Xmas & TFTC GPS-RNAV

Had a couple of spare hours so I headed down this way to grab a few more smileys.
This was a great bit of history, it's a shame those beautiful steam engines aren't on main lines anymore.
I got a good close spot to park and a pleasant walk to GZ, as advised I chose my route off the path carefully.
The prize was quickly found and log signed, which was a bit damp.
Thanks GPS-RNAV TFTC SL

Nice and easy find, climb was not as steep as expected. TFTC and info about this historical area GPS-RNAV.
Relogging this under individual account, previously a member of Gaz'n'Kab account.
We had tried to grab this one once before but could never seem to park safely, well today we got the right spot and headed in from along the track. We slowly watched the numbers count down and down then we realised that we needed to go up... So up went Gaz and Captain T while Kab eargerly waited below. After a few minutes they were back and the cache had our names etched in to its log.

Parked close by and headed in on foot with Gaz'n'Kab to attempt this one. They felt they'd been here before but who knows how they'd have failed to find it if they had. A nice walk along the path and soon the GPS was indicating a hard left. A quick glance at the hint and up the cutting we went with no real trouble. I spotted the likely spot and it turned out to indeed be harbouring a cache. Extracted, signed log and replaced and back down the embankment. I do like a bit of history so a good spot for a cache in my books. TFTC
I'm just slowly making my way south for a week-end out on the bike. The second day on the bike for me down the coast.
As a cyclist I have to love these conversions of old railways lines into bikepaths.
A quick scramble and I soon had this cache in hand. A great part of the local history as well.
Thanks for the cache and the history.

No trouble this time! Came back this time prepared with some tools to retrieve the cache, but found that I didn't need them as it was a bit easier to retrieve. Signed the log and was on my way. Thanks for the cache.
Long walk from where we parked. Log was in good order and was an easy find.

Todays second one and really easy founded. Nice place with my friends spiders around. Just the paper for login was too wet and useless. TFTC
After being attacked by a spider who was pissed off that I moved its home I got the tin out only to find the log had been left out of its bag. Paper ruined. NEEDS NEW LOG.

Found it today with Gunnie69.....
Further to previous logs - the Log book is SATURATED & unsignable - sadly we had no replacemengt logs handy so had to resorty to leaving one of Gunnies stickers signed by both of us...
Have left the saturated log out of the bag at this point as it cant deteriorate much more in the hope of keeping our not dry for awhile....
TNLNSL (temporary one that is)
Thanks GPS-RNAV for bring us here & the associated bit of history - I like this type of cache (excfept for the wet log that is)

A nice stroll along the path to GZ and a nice quick find. The contents were nasty though and as Kaisho53 has highlighted, the sodden log was removed to at least enable future finders to drop some paper in the cache, with some comfort it may stay dry. A Gunnie sticker dropped in with two names for today and we were on our way.
A nice spot here though and a nice walk to and from GZ.
Cheers GPS-RNAV.

I started this series sometime ago and was happy to do another one. The terrain on the approach of this one was a little easier than the previous series I made my way to GZ and found what the previous finders had referred to. Hmm. What do do - I wanted my name in the log. Ahh.. here's a rusty piece of barbed wire someone prepared earlier (much earlier!). After about 15 minutes, I managed to snag the cache and bring it to the surface. Sadly the cache is a little sad - but I could still sign the log. It is quite wet - and the log is looking a bit "hows your father". TFTC GPS-RNAV - thanks for pointing this bit of history out
I found the cache, but it was a case of look but don't touch. It has slipped down in the middle of the hiding spot. Tried to pry it out with various sticks but no luck. The hole is too narrow to reach down with fingers. Not sure if this is part of the challenge, but thanks for placing it and bringing me here.
Went looking with geo dog which made it awkward until we tied him up nearby. Located cache but we couldn't get it out - paws too big! So no log entry. Thanks for bringing us to this rail-trail GPS-RNAV!
Found the access path and took a quick jog to GZ. Quickly spotted the hiding spot. TFTC
