Great location! Cache still nice and dry, thanks for the cache (and pen and pencil!)

It does exactly what it says on the tin!! Couldn't believe my luck when I heard the train toot as it went into the tunnel. My 1st pic was too soon (totally unbelievable I know) but my 2nd wasn't too bad. Many thanks. Geopup & I have loved our hike
We left the car near the other nearby cache and walked into this one. What amazing views back into Bendigo. Just able to make out the top of the Cathedral in the middle of Bendigo.
As we arrived at this cache we watch a train go through the tunnel
Thank you for being us to this amazing spot

What an extraordinary area and quite a surprise coming up to gz.
Found and signed with dalerious whilst signing our names in a cache in the area, and attending an event up the road .
Would have loved being on a steam train as it travelled through this lovely tunnel.
Thank you Hanseeka for bringing us here.
A favourite point from me.

After attending a Morning Tea Geocaching event nearby, catnap777 and I made our way out here for a nearby solved mystery cache and wandered a little further to pick up this traditional one too. [^]
Well, we were so glad we did because the location the CO brought us to was quite surreal with this amazing bit of architecture looking more like a model than reality from our viewpoint.
Cache and contents in good condition too.

Thanks for the hide and the easy effortless walk to the cache he says tongue in cheek. Probably could do with a new log.
Thank you for showing me such a great area, flowers, hills and a great day, perfect. The cache was all pretty soggy but i dried it as best i could and was able to add my mark.
Luckily this was located outside the extended Sandhurst Reference Area.
However vehicle access in no longer possible to this cache.
Parking is nearby with a 2 km return hike required.
See cache details for parking coordinates.
Thanks

After attending the Geocaching Victoria event at the No 7 Park Big Hill I teamed up with the event organiser GemmaSistema for a few hours of caching fun around Bendigo.
I have not done a lot of caching up this way so it was good to be out and about up here today.
We were targeting a few oldies and some others that we came upon.
So after dropping Gemma off back at her car as she had another engagement I came back to the reservoir to try and finished off the ones around here then saw this one on my map.
Worked out what I thought was the best way in and I eventually came across a very muddy hole.
Got out and checked it out and then powered the Geocruiser through it and made my way along the bumpy and very rocky track.
Found the first one along here and now to continue along the track and try and get to this one.
A couple of trees showed some battle scars along here but I was able to keep my paint work in tack for once.
Finally made it in to be close to GZ and came across the very impressive tunnel entry / exit and there is no way that they would build them like that nowadays.
Made my way down to GZ after looking at the tunnel I then had a quick search and I soon located the cache and I added my name to the log and now to work out how to get out of here.
Followed the Tower track out and made it back to the Hwy.
Thanks Hanseeka TFTC.

We have looked at freeway access to this cache on a few occasions over the years, but GPS directs us back via Phyllis St, so today we decided to go just were it directed us.
What a journey we went on. We expected and were prepared for 4WD tracks, but some sections were barely wide enough to get our vehicle through. Small trees on either side of us bore scars of previous encounters with larger vehicles, but we at least kept our paintwork intact. Our journey encountered fencing around Sandhurst Reservoir to which Google maps and our Garmins map seemed oblivious. We soldiered on and found tracks around the reservoir and finally onto a reasonable road along the Leanganook Track beside a creek.
We could see no way to cross the creek that would lead to GZ, so continued along the track with the plan to exit onto Mandurang Sth Rd and attempt GZ from the sth east. Alas we were met by locked gates on 2 occasions and felt very trapped, with no choice but to turn back. Luckily at the third locked gate we had encountered, we found a break in the fenceline and were able to exit through there.
We must have passed and not seen a no vehicle sign at some stage. We are not sure if the gates are open during the cooler months, but certainly not at present.
So just a warning to others to not attempt the 4wd version via Phyllis St.
Next time we will leave the Hwy at posted coords for Mystery cache GC81JBX.
Our adventure will be continued.

Nice spot, couldn't sign as very wet inside, tried to clean and reseal as best as possible, TFTC. Found with the hounds.
We loved the view but unfortunately we couldn’t find the cache. There is a transformer in the process of being built near GZ and toilet paper everywhere
Thanks Hanseeka for the views anyway.

On our way to Bendigo for an evening and morning of babysitting, we took the opportunity to go for this one.
It was a bit of a pain getting from the highway onto the track leading to the cache when coming from Melbourne, especially as the traffic seemed heavier today than most Tuesdays when we do this weekly trip.
However, with a bit of a detour, we managed it, and drove to about 40m from GZ where the track angles down from the top of the hill to the railway line.
On the way in we passed a couple on foot heading back to their car which was parked at the entrance, just off the highway. I was wondering if we'd find their names in the log, but we didn't.
The cache was quickly found and the log signed. Annoyingly I had left my phone in the car, so took a photo using my GPS. Then, as we were returning to the car, a train came along from Bendigo and disappeared into the tunnel, too quickly for me to snap it with the GPS. It was only two carriages, so may have been just a local train, but we didn't know.
Anyway, we enjoyed the hunt for this one, and if weren't running a bit late may have gone for some of the ones further along this track, maybe next time.

Having already ticked off 5 onloved caches for the day, UGCT and I headed for this one. Fairly quickly we had the parallel lines in sight amidst dodging the hundreds of spider webs that were decorating the forest. Not much longer and we had the cache in our hands.
No trains whilst we were there today. Great spot though.

Found with itsahoughthing. I don't think we went the right way to get to this cache but we got there eventually. We soon found the cache itself and after checking the train timetable realised one would be going through in a few minutes and managed to get a photo. Thanks for cache and bringing us to this spot.
WOW, loved the location of this cache. What a shame that more cachers have not taken the opportunity to find this cache. It is not at all difficult to get to, with a 4WD really easy, on foot and a not to hard walk, we would call it an average walk.
Our only disappointment was that no trains went through while we were there. There has been a recent burnoff in the area but the cache is in great condition.
We will do our best to spread the word about this cache when we return to this area from Queensland.

Found it with my son Jai619. Awesome spot! Took a few photos and a train actually went through the tunnel as Jai was standing there looking down - so cool! TFTC
Fantastic location! Saw a kangaroo on at least 2 occasions on my walk to GZ from the main highway, so my presence was noticed. I was surprised how quickly the loud sound of highway traffic vanished once I was over the first rise. At GZ there was only a pleasant silence. My only disappointment was the sound of a train going by shortly after I began my return trip. I ran back up the hill for a look but missed it. If only I'd stayed at GZ just a wee bit longer! Love trains, so thanks for taking me here - TFTC!

There was a steam train running from Castlemaine to Echuca and back today and this has always been a favourite spot of mine for trains between Castlemaine and Bendigo. After photographing the train at Harcourt station it was put into Ravenswood passing loop for 5 minutes to allow a Melbourne bound train to go past. This allowed me time to drive to the tunnel and I just managed to get in position as the steam train entered the tunnel. After it had passed I pulled out the GPS and navigated my way to the cache. I initially thought it was down the bottom so I carefully made my way down (very carefully after a slip whilst caching yesterday!) and then realised it was actually up the top!
There's so many great photo angles around the tunnel and this cache revealed a new one to me. I might use it when the next steam train goes past in two weeks time!
I signed the log and left a silver coin before returning the cache. As I did so a Bendigo V/locity rocketed out of the tunnel at a much quicker pace then the steam train! TFTC!

# 2956. Robmc and I were making our way back to the Highway from I.N.I.S.P way up near the trig. I happened to mention the train line and Rob said there is a cache near here. So, we stopped the car and walked a short distance for me to make the find. I was pleasantly surprised to find it hadn't been found since June, which means I can use it towards the "Spread the Love Challenge". There certainly is a fantastic view from up here - we could see the Cathedral Spire in the distance and we edged closer to the edge to admire the wonderful stonework at the tunnel entrance. TFTC
Was staying in Bendigo but instead of caching all day I decided to go to Castlemaine to do some genealogy research. Had a pleasant early morning walk down to this cache. As I hadn't read the description I didn't understand the name until I arrived.
Thanks Hanseeka for the cache.

Having been to Swan Hill for work on Monday, I stayed at a friend's place in Kerang for the night and was heading home in the old ute I had delivered the replacement for. Catching up with a friend Ihad not seen for a couple of years or so was great, but also meant we had a rather late night, with perhaps a bit too much red cordial. So I was a bit on the slow side for the trip home that day, still I was determined to find a cache on this very cool date. I missed the bypass around Bendigo completely and ended up going through golden square just to avoid the centre of town. (thankfully had enough local knowledge left over to know that route) This did mean I was able to head down the old Calder toward the apple capital of Vic - Harcourt. On the way I saw this cache 'just of the road' and thought why not. Thankfully the vehicle I was in meant I was able to drive to be quite close to this cache, before hoping the fence and wondering over to the GZ. A confused GPS had me doing a bit ore climbing than was needed but I found the cache in the end, just as a train went racing through the tunnel. Awesome. The cache is god condition. Thanks for the cache Hanseeka

Went in on Tuckermans Lane, got to the rail line and turned tail. No place in winter for any vehicle except a real 4WD and I'd love to see them go through those wallows. Didn't have time today to walk in but now we know the lay of the land we will mtn bike in from the other side next time.
Thank for the find. In good condition. A nice walk on a sunny winters day. Morgan and Laura

Went for a run from the bottom of big hill along the highway to the top of big ill before cutting through the scrub to come to the resting place of this nicely placed cache. I love this area. A lot of hard work was done to complete this tunnel back in the day. I love the workmenship of the brick work to the entrance to the tunnel. Thanks for this sweet cache.
After a big weekend at the event...we thought we should find a few caches for ourselves.
We were on our way to the airport to drop mum off so we decided to cache along the way.
Got into this one, did a uturn, came back, parked, hopped the fence, almost got taken out by a cobweb...a nice easy find.

Wouldn't do this one at night, the way we got to it had us traveling along a big drop. Loved doing this one. Thanks.
I have driven past the start of cache several times, but not ventured in. Our backseat drivers today said it is only 400 meters off the road - famous last words!
After an extensive drive and a short walk, we arrived.
Interesting tunnel.
Thanks, Robmc.

Our last find in Bendigo today - completing 30 for me!
The track was 400m out on my GPS map but we simply followed the road, and after some winding ended up a short distance away from GZ. Climbed through the wire fence and found the cache quickly. Spotted some cyclists on the other side. TFTC

More spiders to dodge here!
Interesting location, would be cool to be here when a train was passing I think.
The last of our Bendigo caches, we had a strict curfew to adhere to!
Thanks Hanseeka for this cache.

Found at 0700 on the way to Bendigo for the 3 events being held there today . awsome view of the line , thanks Hanseeka
Accessed from the highway, after a short walk and getting tabgled in several spiderwebs, we quickly located the prize. TNLNSL, thatnks for the cache, a location I never knew existed.
Quick find after getting onto the right track, found pathtag in the cache. Signed log, TFTC
TURPS2 found it on 20.01.10 at 1740hrs, left PATHTAG 9459261. took reflector. A great part of Bendigo,s bushland that has restricted access.
Had a great morning navigating my way to the cache from Mandurang Valley to the GZ. Started @ the end of Harpers Rd, followed the Coliban Water channel to the Sandhurts Reservior, the a left to the cache. It was a great bike ride with lots to see. Did a swap for a reflector after consulting with Spiderman Detective via the phone. A fantastic start to the day. TFTC.
Trekked in off the highway with inappropriate footwear - Geocaching is addictive! Took one of the "handy" reflectors.
I have been wanting to visit this spot for a long time but was never sure of its accessibility. So thank you Hanseeka for showing me the way. I'm always impressed by the skill that went into building structures such as these and particurlary the pride that is expressed in them, even though they will never be seen by very many people apart from train drivers and the occasoinal geocacher.
Was also impressed that two trains passed through here while I was visiting.

First cache of the day with Oenze.
We both knew this road well from caches long done and it was great to see the tunnel again
Rather sorry this time that a train did not pass as a velocity tore out of the tunnel on my last visit.
A nice easy starter for the day.

Aah this road we know it well - has had a bit of maintenance on it so its not quite as scary as it used to be. No trains today. TFTC
I had previously driven the back road to the cache and was confident my car could make it. I was travelling along at a pretty safe speed when I heard a loud bang under my car. I thought I had just kicked a rock up underneath it but as I continued on the engine seemed to be much louder. After collecting the cache I started the car up and again it idled quite loudly. Fearing I had done some damage I decided to call it for the day and head home. Fortunately I have an excellent mechanic in Shepparton (Alan Roe) who I rang on the way home and he said to bring it in first thing the following morning. It turns out I'd damaged the muffler and bent it so badly it was rubbing on the chassis ofthe car. I came to collect it later in the day and they told me no charge - how good is that!
So, it was tough lesson to learn today but it turned out ok in the end.
Cheers,
R - B

Enjoyed the walk in from the Calder, raining quite hard now, but we can take it! Never been here before and really glad we came. Lovely spot. Took a reflective hand and left a smiley fridge magnet.
This was cache # 5 of 41 for the day, in the company of Alansee on our tour of Bendigo. This cache brought back good memories of when I had done the now archived Multi here with my late mate dak. We had no trouble on this one. My thanks to Hanseeka for the cache.
A place where both A2Y and I have been before looking for a now gone waypoint. The hide was found quickly and the view admired, thanks Hanseeka.
Thanks for the lovely view Hanseeka Husband! I grabbed my first benchmark from your cache! SL

After a couple of weeks enforced exclusion from caching, we checked the map within a 12 km radius around home.
To our dismay and pleasure the smiley faces were peppered with locked caskets. We set off and had an enjoyable couple of afternoons seeking. This was the first on our list for today, and knowing the area, we were able to drive in to be within 20m of the GZ. Like other, we have been here before, but it is certainly a pleasent location to come back to.
Left Brawny Bear Clan Coin and took some pics which we have posted here.
SL .. TFTH (and well done on your first cach plant) Hanseeka.
PS: Like Team Crackers, it's most likely the easiest Terrain 5 we'll ever do!

This was our first cache on a lovely sunny winter's morning. We parked the car and headed off on a pleasant walk. As with Romax we had a sense of deja-vue as we had found wpt1 of their cache not far from here. The parallel lines look quite impressive, the way they just disappear into the hill so we took a couple of pictures whilst letting the GPSr settle. Once this was done we simply followed the GPSr to where the well hidden cache and with good co-ords we located it in the first place we looked
We left a coin

Found by Roma and Max.
It was with serious feelings of De Ja Vu that we made our approach to this hide, as on arrival we found its niche was only 40m from the starting wpt of our now archived 3 T's - Tunnel, Trig, & Trek cache.
We had no trouble finding our way in, as we had made many maintenance visits here over the lifetime of our hide!
Although our receiver was showing us where to look, a cursory glance proved not enough to find your container initially, and it wasn't till we returned to its determination of GZ that a more thorough search revealed the object we sort!
We signed the log and made no exchange.
Thank you Hanseeka for your first and well hidden cache.
