WA Big Trip Winter 2024. Day 44 - Wandering to Collie via Boddington. On a very overcast day, with a bit of a mist about in the morning I headed off from Wandering. The cluster of caches at Crossman was first, then a difficult but interesting look around Boddington. Plenty of interesting artwork to see and after three shops, I found a morning snack. I visited a few cemetery caches and the did some more LGA caches to flesh out the days caching. The last cache was a tribute to mining and done just before arriving in Collie to get set up and go and have a look around town. The clamber over the pipe was a bit fun, even worse on the way back. At GZ I was expecting to have to search each hat in turn, but I saw the cache soon and signed the log. Enough for today. Thanks for the cache VolKayno47611.44 TNLNVisited: World Traveling Gold GC A#6 & Blue Switch Day A#472**Albida**
First stop for the day. A bit chilly out.
Having taken a week off from work for some R & R at least one day out caching was in order.
Headed up to Williams then across to Narrogin to pick up some of the multitude of caches that were placed for WAGB. From there, we will see.

A crisp & early start for hollowfrog & I, todays objective... as many caches as possible! Mundays & Zilko roads complete & we decided to collect a few more on the way home.
Couldn't miss the GZ but the trek to get there was harder than finding the cache, I haven't done leg stretches that difficult in a number of years... Left a TB to continue their travels. Now back over the pipeline I go!!! Cheers for the great spot volKayno

Never an athlete, so I let geoleapers straddle the pipe line to find the cache. SL R&R
The fifth and final day of our Easter holiday break for TaurusSix and myself. We have had a wonderful time exploring the south east regional interior areas of WA, so much to see and of course much geocaching to be done. We have revised our plans for the day, today , once again around geocaching. Given there is a FTF cache to be had in the Kulin area we are going to head back in that direction and try our luck first thing heading from the Lake Grace area. And anyway there are still lots more caches in that area for us to obtain, so we are happy to head in that direction. Then at some point we will start meandering back to Bunbury again via many roads less travelled.
This is our thirty third cache find of the day and 11th LGA . It has been a long but very enjoyable day exploring and geocaching . Parked up and took the short stroll to the gz. The hardest bit was getting over the pipe. Interesting feature. Cache quickly found, logged and replaced. TFTC

In the area for a 12hr Rogaining comp, last one for the year. Stopped off here on the way home.
Quick find once at GZ. TFTC

Nice quick find with Morgo in the rain. Climbing the pipeline was not an elegant vision!

We were to heading home from the CITO in Denmark (the long way). We needed a break so we decided to stop and grab this one. We parked up and with our torches hitting the hard hats we soon knew where we going. So Leega was straight over the pipe line and before I could even get close, she had the cache in hand and added our names to your log. It’s always good to do a welfare check on one that hasn’t been found for awhile and happy to say this one is holding up well. I have a few hard hats at home, I wish I could have added to the collection. TFTC volKanyo.
Found with axell33 on our way home from events in Albany and Denmark, we are detouring a little inland and it was time for a break so this was the next cache on our map. It was a nice quick find in the dark….wasn’t sure what it was until I was there with it! Great hide here with all well. TYFTC.
Catching up on some logs from caching runs with Barnzy12. Finally catching up. Thanks for the placement.
Log is damp. Needs drying. Take care on the pipe.!! I fell off on the way back - not fun at 68 being flat on your back ln the gravel. Apart from the damp, cache is in good nick. TFTC.
Down in Collie for the non-event of Family Steiner’s Seven Year Itch. We got down as early as possible after a FTF near the CBD and made the most of some glorious caching weather.
Started off near Wellington Dam grabbing a few of the caches there and venturing mainly on the outskirts of town before the pub lunch and a few caches north of the town and ultimately the big ride home.
Had a great day trying for some unloved, the highlight of which was 1000 days unloved on bibbi bridge.
Thanks familysteiner and the local Collie COs in particular Razzam for showing us some unique sights.

Thanks for bringing us here, would never have been here if it wasn’t for caching.
Favourite point coming your way.
Cache was out in the open.

On a camping trip around the wheatbelt. We would have missed this tree if not for the cache. The pipe probably adds a little bit to the terrain. Quick find once I arrived at GZ

Day 253 of our 366 day straight challenge. On our way to Albany via the scenic route, ticking of some LGA's on the way.
Second stop for the day, hubby overshot it so we had to walk back a little. Nice quick find once here, log signed and cache replaced as found. TFTC

Third find for the day, (HATRICK you could say ) and a quick jump over the pipe (weirdly cold even when in the direct sun...) leaving the wife & geokids in the car.
Tree looks like it has a strange fungus all over it... found the cache in good order, dry and presentable.
Picked up a fallen piece of "Fungus" and jammed it on a nearby log... it looked like it needed a new home. Who knows, maybe it'll start spreading onto that log too?
Another great cache by VolKayno thanks

I had planned on a road trip today just me and my 2 geodogs, making the most of the last day of the holidays. I had planned to go to Bunbury to collect some Earthcaches and then call through Collie and Boddington on the way home to collect a few missing LGAs if I had time. Just as I was about to leave a notification came through for a new cache so my plans were quickly reversed. After my Stop of in Boddington I decided to head to Collie via a favourite town of Williams. I couldn't drive past here with out stopping to admire such an interesting tree. Are those flowers or fruits covering it? Nice and protective thats for sure. I agree this tree was certainly in need of a cache as a tribute. TFTC VolKayno
Found it, great little spot for a cache.
The pen ran out, hopefully the owner will replace

Early this morning I was cruising past again
And nobody had broken down here.
With the coast clear I headed on into the scenery for a cache find
Giiddy yap !! Hup !! and half way over before sliding back to the ground
Hmmm !! Time for a bigger run up !!
Gidddddddddy yaaaap !! Hup !! and over
After that bit of mucking about the rest of the stroll was easy.
Cache found
I tips me hat to you for this cache hide
Now there was just the matter of clearing the obstacle again to get back to the geomobile ...

Too easy after a bit of practice

I can almost understand the mowing muggles turning up at your local park to mow the place when I am looking for a cache at that particular hour of the month
Muggles at parking areas are not uncommon
But !! And this is a big Butt !!
What were the chances of muggles parked on the narrow shoulder of the road here, just 20 metres away from GZ, fixing their broken camper trailer ?? [:o]
DNF for me today

Interesting tree. Must be a place where, when the local miners finish with a company they hang their hat on the tree. I used to do the same thing but with our boots..... but not in the middle of nowhere haha

Do retesting. Pity there's no history as to how or why this started. With thanks for the cache from Angus the great GeoWestie and his Carer wo are grey (and white) nomads currently travelling in, and enjoying, WA.
Pity there is no helmet history. Great cache. TFTC. Tor and Betsy, the travelling Westies roaming WA at present. We are from Oxenford near the Gold Coast in Queensland and thoroughly enjoying the West.
Funny place I the afternoon sun with black cockatoos flying overhead. Cache is safe and well though careful parking on the narrow verge! Cheers from Sydney.
Drove past this place so many times so we were surprised when it turned out to be a geo cache spot!
Heading home from 2 nights in Toodyay and naturally some more smileys to collect along the way . I wonder if it will take 8hrs to get home like it did to get to Toodyay
Well the last cache for my short break from home.
When we pulled up and I looked over to where the gps was pointing I saw the 'hat tree' and laughed, 'Well that's a bit obvious'
Have to admit I didn't think this one through properly. I'm only short (4ft 8in) and have arthritic knees so trying to get over the pipeline was hilarious.
I couldn't fling my leg over so had to get muggle to give me a leg up then he had to hang onto my hands so I didn't land with a thud on the other side
A quick walk over to GZ and had the cache in hand in moments. Did the usual log signing, put everything back in it's place and then walking back to the car I was also deciding on how I was getting back over.
Lucky we parked near a concrete stand so got a bit of a lift while muggle was pulling me, then gently slid off.
A nice little adventure for the end of my caching day
TFTc and laughs
This tree reminds me of the termite mounds just passed Port Hedland that are wearing safety hats

Went to Narrogin for the day and thought we'd get this cache on our way back. Well it was raining when we were coming back but it didn't stop some of us... TFTC!
Spotted the hat tree as I whizzed past. My muggle brother-in-law was in charge of directions. After climbing over the pipe we made our way carefully through the scrub, fortunately there were no snakes out today. Quick photo shoot at GZ and then a search for the cache. In an obvious spot, but as I said the muggle was in charge of the GPS. Log signed and we were quickly on our way home after a fantastic weekend in Wave Rock. TFTC
Looks like this is the cache (love the hats) for us on this trip to Western Australia now heading back to the great land of the long white cloud. Thanks to all who placed caches and added to our travels.
Kept getting stuck behind trucks so thought we'd break the cycle with a geostop. TFTC
A quick easy find while passing through. Was a bit naughty in that I took a TB without replacing but all the TB's that I brought with me have already been dropped off - sorry, but it wanted to travel. Greetings from South Africa. TFTC
Thanks for the find! I left one of my hand painted rocks which can be logged =)
Drove this road so many times and never noticed the hat tree. Happy to stop for it. Tftc.
Awesome geocache for my first one, so happy when we finally found it even at 8 at night we still got it!
2nd find on our way to Qld via Great Outback Way. Plan to find at least 1 a day hopefully more.friend twitches whilst I cache.
No problems finding this unusual cache. Dropped TB - this was as far east as I was willing to go today, so I hope someone picks it up and continues over to sheep country.
Great spot, kids liked this one. TFTC, Took Dora, left lovely green hair extension! 4yrold insisted this was very collectable!
I saw the image gallery and just had to do this cache. Whilst there I added a hat TFTC, It was a spin out. I added another gallery image.
Novel idea in the bush, good spot for a cache. Wouldn't have stopped here otherwise but I may even hang a hat here sometime TFTC
Unusual place for a cache and another of those places which you would not take a great deal of notice of except for a cache hidden there.

Great fun spot for a cache. Not what I expected - but still an excellent idea. Sorry but there were no TB's in the cache?? Dropped in a "Kiss me i'm Irish Geocoin" for a visit but reclaimed it again.
