Not sure why it's taken us so long to visit this spot as we've had very many day trips in this area. Anyway, although the campground is gated for winter, we could see that it would be a fantastic spot to camp in the warmer months and very worthy of bringing a fly rod. I reckon we'll be back! The cache was a little tricky to retrieve as it had fallen deep into its hidey hole. The container has been nibbled but the logbook was fine. TFTC!Cheers,The Hancock Clan

Easy find. Some marsupial has had a chew of the container though. We didnt have anything to swap with sadly!

Happened to come across this one on a map this morning, and since we had nothing else planned for the afternoon decided we would check it out. None of us had any idea this was up here, and it was the perfect spot for some lunch and a poke around the river. Thanks so much for putting this up here, such a beautiful area and well deserving of a cache. Favourite point from us <3

out and about with 1 Lil Rafa caching in the South of Tasmania. on the way back home this was the third last cache for the 3 days. a pleasant stroll through the picnic area which was very wet, access was closed for the winter because of the weather. the river was running with all the rain in the mountains coming down to the low areas, TFTC TNLN log dry. a pleasant 3 days in the South.

Thanks for the cache OldSaint.
RLD4963 and I spent a couple of days down south, and today decided we would head out and try and find this cache. I knew there was a camping area along this road somewhere, but have never visited before so was keen to have a look.
There was so much water in the river around the campsite - it was spectacular! We took a walk and quickly located the cache, then walked around and took photos of the river. Great spot to visit.

21-Jul-20
We decided to come down south for a few days to support the economy and to find some caches that have be published since our last visit or are walks that we didn’t have time to do previously! A mixed bag today with 2 tracks closed and therefore unable to do the walks! A pleasant day but some what wet under the feet!

What a lovely place. The river was flowing rather quickly today and a bit wet under the feet!

We found the container but no log book so replaced the log book in a bag!

Thanks for bringing us here OldSaint and a favourite point!

Searched GZ at coords, but couldn’t find any rocks or logs so I widened my search to within about 15m of GZ, to no avail. I went further afield still and couldn’t find it. It’s not been found for a year, so perhaps this has been muffled or maybe my geosense was well off today. It’s a DNF from me️

Beautiful spot tucked away in the forest. Thank you.

18-Feb-17
After 5 mins of checking every log it was right where we first looked. Lovely spot.

24-Apr-16
3 days away and an OldSaint cache each day. This was an interesting drive but we just followed the GPS. I have done a lot of the foresty roads down south but never been here. We loved the location and spend quite a while checking out the river and playing Pooh sticks from the bridge. Thanks for bringing us here OldMate! TFTC

21-Feb-16
For a change, we have headed south of Huonville for a couple of days. As we had some time after finding caches in Dover, we decided to head out of town to look for this cache. It was a pleasant drive, made better by the absence of logging operations. Once near GZ,, accurate coordinates and the hint led to a quick find. The cache and contents were in good condition. This is a lovely area with very good facilities - we wondered how often visitors come to enjoy the wonderful views. Thanks for the cache OldSaint.

13-Feb-16
Checked on this cache today
All was okay and the lid was on the cache container!!!!
However, replaced the old container with a sistema and replaced the log with a new one.
Thanks to those that have taken the time to travel to this great location and for finding the cache
Cheers OldSaint.

It's usually where you look first but avoid deep holes! After much searching I give it & it's in my hand. Thanks for the cache. It has brought us to a beautiful spot that we have all to ourselves. BBQ going & sausages cooking.

11-Dec-15
Travelling around Australia and spending a few months in Tasmania.

Staying in Geeveston for a few days. After tackling most of the caches south of Geeveston yesterday but not completing the 'list' today we returned to continue on.

Quite overcast, and a few showers which we managed to dodge, but we did see snow up at Mt Hartz.

Lovely drive out to this cache. Shame it doesnt seem to be used much anymore.

Wow! Is about all i have to say about this. We'd planned to pull up here for lunch but weren't expecting to find such a beautiful riverside stop.
Found the cache and sat on a rock to look around, there was something in the water but we couldn't work out if it was a fish or a platypus.

Anyone heading out this way in the near future should note that forestry have been through to mulch the roadsides recently and most of the trash is on the road.

06-Oct-15
Cache was in place and log was dry but container lid was missing. Wouldn't bet on ziplock alone keeping log dry for too long.

30-Jun-15
Well, Old Saint, you certainly do know some perfect locations for placing caches in and this one would have to be a favourite for us - just a perfect spot. We had our lunch sitting on the little rock wall around the BQ area and watched and listened to this spectacular river in full flow. Hard to believe you are such a short distance from the road, it feels as though you are in deep wilderness.
The cache has seen better days, the lid of the container is missing and the log was damp, but still signable. We returned it to it’s hide and covered it with a rock which may act as a temporary lid. Yes, we agree that it is said so many time that we would never have come here except for geocaching – but its true. TFTC.

23-Nov-14
Walked up and down the river. Just beautiful!

16-Nov-14
Lovely little spot and not a soul around on a warm spring Sunday. Found the cache quickly, a bit wet so we've wiped it out and left a few dry pages. We'll be back over summer, with fishing rods and gloves and bags - way too much rubbish left behind for such a nice spot. Picked up the TBs. TFTC.

09-Nov-14
Found it but couldnt sign it as its wet

What a great spot hidden away in the bush. TFTC

24-Oct-13
Gotcha !!! TFTC Used the sheets of paper provided by a previous finder. Removed the soaking wet logbook to dry out. I'll return it to the CO. Might have had a BBQ if it hadn't been raining.

27-Apr-13
Found on way back from Hartz mountains to Dover just on dusk, nice quick find. TFTC

23-Jan-13

Left a few sheets in the goodie bag. Tftc.

Found while in the area for Christmas break. Lots of muggle a camping this time of year. Located easily. Log book is saturated but was able to leave my mark. Just!!

Thanks to Liz and Bruce for their maintenance help back on the 20th Jan this year. Cheers OldSaint.

11-Feb-12
Found on our Far South caching weekend with whitewebbs, a tranquil spot hidden away, a spot we would never have found but for caching. Thanks for bringing us here and for the cache OldSaint

11-Feb-12
Left the caravans at Southport and did some caching in the area. Found with Tassie Trekkers. A lovely spot for a bbq and some campers were using the one provided. Thanks OldSaint for bringing us here.

28-Jan-12
After having our family walk to the Hartz aborted by a car race closing the Arve Road, I picked a picnic spot on the Esperance River, without realising there was a cache there.
On the drive in, we got nice views of Adamson's Peak and The Calf, and later Esperance Peak and the end of the Hartz.
There was a family camped there enjoying the swimming holes, making the area seem absolutely idyllic. I guess it might be different were it cold and raining.
After I quickly found the cache (thanks for the rock, Liz & Bruce), we enjoyed our lunch by the river and then walked along the banks for a bit.
Thanks OldSaint.

20-Jan-12
We were thrilled to be able to find this one. We thought we would be replacing it and instead after a bit of digging around we came up with the cache. Bruce did maintenance and now it is in a good place and should stay safe. Coords and clue still applicable just look for a rock. Thanks OldSaint

10-Jan-12
Hi old saint can you replace or archive this one?

07-Aug-11
Hi Oldsaint

This one might need some attention. I was half tempted to have a go down that way if you want to make a trip of it?

23-Sep-10
We had a go at this one on the way home, found the tree but not the cache, don't know if we were getting tired, going blind, or if the recent rain flooded the river and its floated away.
Thanks anyway OldSaint, will have another look next time in the area.
Cheers R40s

21-Jul-10
Dear OldSaint, it appears that not only geocachers like this container, as it now bears the scars from a hungry animal, and has left a hole about 1.5cm square. Either that, or the stupid cache decided to attack a quoll......
The cache contents are nice and dry, however the container needs replacing.

The red tag team returned to the scene to search for this cache with two sets of eyes this time. It was a pleasant drive and the river was not in flood this time! Big Grin
In the time honoured tradition, an inspection around the GZ proved fruitless, so we widened the the area of searching, then back again, until finally............FOUND! Big GrinBig Grin
To quote another log: "It was there all along." Red Face
This raised our spirits and we were able to then more thoroughly admire and inspect the river for a potential future visit........ Wink
No fly rods today though - 10 days too early at least ! Sad
Thanks for the cache, OldSaint ! Big Grin

15-May-10
nice spot by the river
think the GPS was having a little bit of a hard time with all the trees around as GZ was apparently in the centre of the field. ignoring GPS I went for the most obvious place and found the cache!

Another lovely spot in the bush near water which was still running. Local campers had the run of the place. Many others camped some distance away. Thanks for bringing us here.

02-Jan-10
Looking, looking, looking.....where is it???? Swampy and I were both getting frustrated with this search so Swampy wandered off to do some CITO but I am a stubbor mule and decided to keep looking....finally found it, right where the hint said it would be. Lovely spot down here. Will have to come back in better weather. Thanks for the cache

02-Jan-10
Well, I had a boy look and said it wasn't there.
We searched and searched and stubborn Tim Tam kept going back to the same place cuz the flat GPSr kept indicating to go there.
Whilst I did some searching further afield, doing CITO, suddenly the call went up.
It was there all along. Coords were hovering at 4-5m away.
TNLN, thanks

01-Jan-10
Found it at 15:00. We came here in wrong time of the year. So many people so noisy people. Some humans have fanny ideas how to relax in nature. Took Geeveston badge left earplugs. Thanks

24-Sep-09
Silly Mr red tag forgot to post this DNF for a flying visit down south. I searched the area thoroughly (or so I thought) and even tried using the hint! Red Face
Perhaps I was just a little distracted by all that water coming down the river! Wink
Thanks anyway, OldSaint !

18-Sep-09
spent a beautiful sunny friday afternoon picnicing by the river. Pity someone has used the field for a racetrack. now its very chopped up and a bit of a muddy mess.thanks for the cache. this is one of my fav spots down this end of town.

30-Aug-09
Well another rainy weekend and I found myself home alone; the boys had gone to golf, Sienna to her cousins and Annaliese to work. I though I'd set out on my own for a geocaching adventure. Very glad I did too, with another first to find. A lovely spot - even in the rain. Think I'll come back inthe summer with a picnic. Water flowing very well in the river and plenty on the roads in the giant potholes!!!. Took little soccer ball badge and left a 'geeveston fanny' cloth badge. TFTC
