Today's caching was around Minlaton with some of the Gone Fishn' and the CRAB series, as well as others along the way. Also did the Salt Lake and the Water Towers adventure labs, which was very enjoyable drive around. TFTC
Thanks Everlasting for placing and maintaining this cache. The sun has come out, birds are singing. Tank is very interesting.Paddocks are green , so hopefully rain and sun are what they need.
After over seven weeks on the road, I'm back home and finally catching up on all my logging.Caching in South Australia was fantastic, so many good hides to find, and we found ourselves zigzagging all over the place doing lots of geoart but of course ran out of time to get everything done on our to-do list. The majority of caches we found were in great condition and well maintained, which is a credit to all the CO's who placed them, so thank you.Our logs were mostly signed as 5 for QLD to save room on the log sheets, and no doubt, we'll be back again in the future.
Day 1 on the Yorke before attending the Great Leap Forward.Amazingly ten of us have travelled from the Nelson area (top of the South Island) and as luck would have it, Andy & Gail just happened to be staying in Port Vincent at the same time as me.Much more fun finding geoart in a group so I greatfully accepted an offer to be driven around by Andy for the day while Gail did the expert navigating. We signed the Crab logs as MAG and most of the other finds with our full caching names.A deviation of the crab trail to make this grab while we were in the area.TFTC
Today we teamed up with Marchwood and headed out for a few caches. To save time and space we signed the logs MAG.Our aim was to do the Crab geoart and then whatever else we came across. Our total for the day was 122 finds. Apologies to the CO's for the cut and paste.A slight detour away from the crab art trail to get this one.tftc#7393
Nice quick find between crabs. Weather perfect for geocaching. TFTC Everlasting.
In all our travels we would not have even thought to travel to this location.
(HaHa). In your dreams, these cachers do.
[:(!] Thanks for an awesome effort.

What a happy surprise! A cache placed by a good friend so far from home. Thank you Everlasting
Found on my York Peninsula caching Odyssey. I enjoyed the scenery and the caches. Thanks Everlasting.
There were a few unexpected visitors attached to the cache in the form of white snails. Not sure what the story is with white snails over here, they just love living on fence posts.
#8 today on our geocaching long weekend on YP. Tftc. Almost didn't see it covered in dirt and miniature snails.
A quick find while staying at Point Turton caravan park and out caching with Little Blue Wren.TFTC

We saw three brown snakes today, which changed our plans a little to avoid roadside long grass and find a variety of quality rather than quantity caches!
Yep thats a nice big tank. Didn't check the contents.

Stay safe,
wash your hands,
sanitize, exercise, even wear a mask if hayfever season affects you and
cache all the regions safely distanced at least an adult brown snake's length apart ! ! !
Come wine and dine in the Barossa sometime soon and feel free to leave a few new cache hides out this way

Day 205 (Saturday 21st) of our trip. Caching along the way. In Warooka today. A total of 1 for the day and 4848 for the trip. TFTC
Lots of little bug kritter protecting the cache. Beautiful view from here. Thankyou
A last minute trip that was purely made due to there being a CITO at Minlaton, off I went caching at a few stops along the way from Adelaide, collecting a few of the T.O.Y caches.
Arrived at the event for the evening to meet some lovely people from different parts of the world. We chatted and shouted so many stories around culture and the differences between countries, lots of random caching experiences and as well just some random conversations. After the event I had planned to do some of the geo art further south. I was soon joined by team GBS and what legends they are, some amazing people and they went guns blazing along the trails.
From 7-12 we found just over 210 caches. The trail is in very poor condition and probably needs a maintenance run in the near future. Some of the caches are broken or just a log book.
Day 2 I woke up and did some local caching before the CITO. The CITO was fantastic with 4 large bags being collected. I soon said my good byes and targeted the rest of the T.O.Y series along the eastern coast line. All the caches in the series are all in good condition.
Then I farted for the event back in Adelaide by mid day. Overall a total of 255 caches for an overnight trip and some long time caching friends made.
Thanks to all the Cache owners for their placements
Sorry for the generic log.

Cooler today, cloud cover, so we thought we'd gather some caches instead of moss. Out and about with messy61. A real tank of a cache . Tftc.
Out for an afternoon of caching with Doublehelixclan. Mostly quick finds and a couple of encounters with wildlife. A great afternoon after several days of very hot weather. TFTC
Found with dty73 and youban on our Yorke Peninsula invasion! All logs signed DTY (dty73/Tankengine/youban). - Had a great day today, in that we didn't do any of the power trails! That was a very nice change! So a nice variety and some very nice locations! Thanks!
We have a small team travelling to The Yorke Peninsula from Canberra. It was decided by the group before we left that our team name would be DTY, although I act like the boss, I rarely am and so the initials actually stand for - dty73, Tankengine & Youban.
Today the team decided that it was a “tourist day” and we would go have a look around a small part of the peninsula to see what there is. But of course like true geocachers we couldn’t help taking a caching route as we went. We ended up getting a lot more than we expected, but we did have a good time.
Interesting that these brick tanks are all over the place. Tftc Everlasting!!!

Based in Minlaton for a few days to have a hack at the Gone Fishn' series, I found 250 caches today. We headed towards Warooka from Minlaton collecting the series and whatever else was along the way.
Once we'd gotten to the bottom of the trail we went around the coast and did whatever else we wanted in our free time.
We found that this section went a lot faster than expected so the extra caches were a bonus.
Highlites of the day for me was collecting 2 years of unloved on a multi and seeing the ocean.
An enjoyable day.
Thanks to all the COs for placing the caches. Nothing was wrong with them unless stated at the start of my log.
The Yorke Peninsula is a marvelous playground for geocachers and indeed we met more than one local along the way who knew what we were up to and very friendly too.
Fabulous.

Suscoe was heading northwards today in convoy with Phetlern as our time in Marion Bay had come to an end.
We started the finds at Brentwood, then to Minlaton and then on to Maitland before picking up a couple of caches along the road to Port Wakefield.
It was a sunny day with a good range of caches found along the way.
The roads were quiet today which made for easy stops along the roads and around the towns.
Thanks to Everlastingfor this cache, we were impressed with this area.

Travelling in good company with Suscoe and relocating our base from Marion Bay to Port Wakefield, provided us many opportunities to stop, stretch and add a smiley, or two, to our geo-map. We parked one car & caravan in town and explored the cache rich Minlaton area.

Found with Zobo04, Borisb&Natasha and Bounty Trackers. Heading on our way to The York Peninsula for Easter and to catch up with the rest of our group. Sorry for the late logs life sometimes has an uncanny way of getting in the way. I was busy trying to get in front of KTCvic whom we are meeting up with. So lets get as many caches as we can along the way so for 5 minutes I will have more finds. Nothing like a little friendly competition. Thanks for making our trip fun and TFTC

Geo Nerds Yorke Peninsula caching exposition consist of Borisb&Natasha, Zobo04,De Ja Vu, KTCvic, Gonefishen07, Velocachu & Bounty Trackers.
Gonefishen07, Zobo04, Borisb&Natasha and myself Bounty Trackers left on Wednesday morning with one objective, to get Gonefishen07 cache finding count higher than KTCvic who was about 100 cache in front. We spent 2 days straight chasing caches all the way from Gippsland in Victoria to The York Peninsula in SA, where we finally got 8 caches ahead of KTCvic. The smile on Gonefishen face said it all ( I think the comment was made CATCH ME NOW Trenty ).
Along our journey we made a side trip to Gawler to get the multi Fort Knox cache which was on our hit list. What a brilliant cache. Well worth the detour. It will be getting a favorite point from me.
On Friday Velocachu, KTCvic & De Ja Vu graced up with there presents and it was time to start the Yorke Peninsula Geo Art Starting at Hook then Jellyfish, Fish, Anchor, some of Fish Tales,Sammy Starfish and most of the Boat, we then did Sally starfish, and the rest of Fish Tales and then finished with the leftover boat.
Milestone achieved
Velocachu 500
Zobo04 2000
Borisb&Natasha 2000
De Ja Vu 3000
KTCvic 4000
Gonefishen07 4000

I have never cached outside of Victoria, nor in a group and I was really looking forward to it.
Every single one of us achieved a very memorable milestone made even more special because they were achieved with very special friends.
Thank you so much to the many COs for the time and effort in placing their caches. I'm sure it enables many groups like ours to get together, have lots and lots of fun and form life long friendships, all in the quest for little pieces of treasure.

Even though it was quite hot, we managed to do a few trail and other caches in the area.
Many thanks for placing this cache, Everlasting, for us and others to find.

After Sorceysal and I finished the fish series in 2 1/2 days, we decided to head to Maitland and beyond to grab a few more caches in a more relaxed day, without the haste. Tess the geodog also enjoyed the heaps of walks today, and the great variety of hides.

So I have to go to Adelaide for work, on Monday so how to make a weekend of it..... contact brisal5 and turn it into a Yorke Peninsula exploration..... We were planning to find some geoart but instead got distracted by the many, many great caches located on the Yorke Peninsula.
My apologies for the generic logs my notes and memory of finding almost 100 caches in 36 hours are a bit lousy. But I truly appreciate the effort the cache owners have gone to creating some memorable cache hides in beautiful locations.

Plan A: A weekend to YP with mogni to do some geo-art caching. Of course we just had to stop and break the drive. Okay..time to go to Plan B. Cache till lunch, then go and start the geo-art and finish it in the morning. So after lunch in Minlaton. Plan C: Cache around Minlaton, go to our overnight digs in Hardwicke Bay and up early for the geo-art. Okay...the tank is there. Check. The GPS says go there. Check. go there and yep cache is there. Check. Thanks Everlasting.

Touring Australia having left Perth in late February we are leisurely touring South Australia after having attended Oz Mega.
Today we had to move house (caravan) from Coobowie to Minlanton so only attempted some multi's near Coobowie before we headed off.
With very mixed results we hit the road Jack! On arrival at Minanton we dumped the vans and headed for Point Turton. Having seen some of the 50th birthday clan earlier in the week we were disappointed to have been too early for these caches but a return trip saw us knock these over today at high tide.
Quick find here as GPSr led us straight to the point. Really loving finding caches belonging to our geofriends.

Day 4 of our epic expedition within SA. specimenX and myself had found the FT trail last night and solved all the puzzles in preparation for today. We set off nice and early (starting at 7:30am) and we didn't return home (place of current residence) until 11:30pm. It was a very long day however very enjoyable. We picked up a couple of caches on route to the powertrail and commenced the trail at 10:05am and we completed the last cache at 15:29pm of the powertrail. Including breaks for lunch and rest breaks, it works out to be about a cache every 2 minutes. Can't complain about that
We had heaps of fun today on the trail, I was the designated driver and specimenX was the hyped up runner. Once again, VERY strong coffee came into play this morning. specimenX was soo hyped up, at one stage her feet were in the air and her head in the ground.... ummm what the??? [:o)] On a number of occasions, specimenX would go so fast, her feet were left behind and she would almost face plant the caches.... excited much?
specimenX had a run in with a pollen tree, that decided it didn't like her, and it "poofed" all over her.... it just exploded, literally.... and she was covered from head to toe in pollen. OMG we lost it, I couldn't breath and specimenX couldn't control herself with laughter. Absolutely great day all round.
On our way to the PT, we passed through Minlaton, and OMG we were salivating over the caches there, so OFC we made our way there after the PT to do a clean up. We decided that 200 was our target today, this would be both of our largest caching days. We cleaned up Minlaton with all but 2 DNF's and one we didn't attempt as it was outside the CO's house (not trotting through gardens or shining torches at 9pm at night, don't feel comfortable doing that). We the headed back towards Port Wakefield to wind up our day of caching. The cache "Ruined" was a deal breaker for both myself and specimenX however, specimenX had a trip on some rusty wire and it could have been very nasty however walked away physically unhurt. I then opened the cache to find my biggest fear inside which was a trackable and I almost ran home to Canberra. The fear it put in me turned me very pale and made me feel very sick. Why do people make those 8 legged freaks into trackables or place fake ones in caches??? It drives me insane [:(!]
At the end of the night, we had some much earned dinner at the Port Wakefield truck stop and made our way home. We can now successfully conclude we completed 203 caches !!!! (and 2 DNF's )
Thanks to Fishy Tales for the awesome powertrail and thanks to all the other CO's for the caches we collected today [^][^][^] Now its time for some much earned sleep as we both have to be up nice and early to make our travels over to Murray Bridge for the Oz Mega 2014 [^]
