Greetings, Fullofun! MrMogger and I are in back in New Zealand floating around on the Azamara Onward ship. On this adventure we completely missed January 31 and got to experience February 2 twice. Then we skipped February 11 and watched the Super Bowl on February 12! Craziness. Today were back in the Bay of Islands exploring other parts of the island. We were last here on 31 January 2019. Well, this one took some doing, but since I took a lot of pictures along the way, I was able to decipher the answers. The only one I had to guess on was C. There werent a lot of signatures on that logbook. Why do we call ourselves unimoggers? Because we own a dilapidated model 411 Unimog, 1964 version.Weather in Bay of Islands Whangarora Ward: 76F, sunnyFootwear: Sneakers Equipment: walking Took nothing but pictures, left nothing, signed log and posted pictures, plus were having our traveling TB, some other TBs, and our Prague backpack visit this cache, T4T$;-)Last found: 2023 December 16Maps: Cachlys Google Standard Maps Cache condition: GreatAnimals besides birds and other flying objects seen on the way to this cache: none, really Thanks, Fullofun, for placing Russell Rambler (Bay of Islands), a Multi-Cache cache. This was unimoggers cache find #23341 @ 2:03:01 PM GMT+13 today. Famous quotes from MiniMoggerI I dont know, mom. Im just a YouTube mechanic. Famous quotes from MiniMoggerII Oh, mom. Youre so silly. We take pictures of every cache we find just for the memories. We never post a picture of the geocache, unless it needs assistance or its obvious what or where it is, but we try to remember to post a picture of the log plus a screenshot indicating our distance from the cache. Happy Trails! MrsMogger and MrMogger
Nice walk through Russell. We learned a little bit about your history. Tftc
Thank Fullofun for the replacement . Here hoping a tidy Kiwi doesn't find it, thinking it is litter. A little story of my last DNF visit to the site. I found a very nice coffee ️ cup in the garden, thinking it may have been discarded by a patron of the on-site Cafe, I asked them if it was one of theirs. No, but we will wash it for you, and now it is one of my favourite mugs. ️ Nice staff, they could have easily embarrassed me and sent me packing without any acknowledgment. Of course today they got my patronage.
A favourite point for the memory.

That was a long drawn out process, just to get the co ordinates. And then to get to the final hint only to find the cache missing as stated by previous log.
Sadly. 3 of us looking at final GZ and everything matching hint, we were unable to locate the physical cache.
#13,065. After our DNF back in September 2015, when the cache was missing, it was great to return to Russell for another go. Went to our old solved coordinates … but there was still no cache. We reckoned the final hide might have been moved to a new location in the intervening years. Well, we did some more rambling along York Street, The Strand and Church Street to revisit some of the waypoints to rework the changed digits. Got the revised set of coordinates and made our way to the final GZ, where it was pretty quiet at the time of our visit. Found after a short searching around, and harder look. The cache itself was in good condition, all nice and dry inside. The logbook was full though, but managed to find some white space on the header to sign. Took nothing, left nothing, signed log.

Had some free time after my e-bike guiding so what better way to explore Russell than a multi. thanks
Nice ramble around Russell whilst waiting for the swimmers and SUPpers to arrive from Paihia. Absolutely spot on coords for each waypoint and nice and simple. Great to see the hint item at the final. SL TNLN TFTC
Staying up in Russell for a few days with friends and we completed this cache this morning an had a great 'ramble' around Russell. Thanks for the history lesson and the fascinating points of interest. A favourite from me, TFTC
A great multi to learn more about the history of Russell and to see the sights. Thanks really enjoyed this cache. Thanks
With time rapidly running out in the month to achieve the Mt Elbrus souvenir and no chance of the planned trip to Auckland for the now postponed Mega, an alternative plan was hatched to round up the few remaining unfound ones on the back road route to Russell and a few there too.
I have been to Russell many times, but it was interesting the new history that I learnt whilst doing this one. The final calculated GZ looked promising, so after a short walk, the hint made good sense and the cache was quickly located, log signed and returned safe and secure as found. TFTC

1194. 5:17 pm. GRAkiWi loves multi-caches and this one an enjoyable one. Found with eKitten, GRAkiWi, LI0NPaw and my BH. Wow! The hint was obvious after finding it. Logbook full. TFT(Russell)C.
Out on a sunny day here in Russell. Had great fun walking around the town to all the interesting places. Picked up the trackable. Thanks Salty and Fullofun great cache.
This was a great way to explore Russell and I completed it with Whangarei & Kamo Brownies. Sorry for the late post as I have just realised I hadn't logged it (I did however sign the log on the day)
Walked around Russell to get this one. The history in this town is amazing.
Was a great walk around on a very nice day. Nice enough to go for a swim once we had finished caching for the day.
Thanks for putting this cache together.

Great way to learn some history and see the sites of Russell. FANTASTIC. TFTC. Great hint too.
Had a good look around Russell while doing this cache, lots of great history here and although I did not have time to visit all waypoints certainly managed to see most of it along the way. After doing another cache along the way and checking out the other multi in town I headed for the final and came across Mrs B and Tinytree who was having ice cream in the centre of town. We all then walked to the final outside another place of interest, it was a busy area so glad they were there to provide cover while I grabbed the cache. All good here, TFTC.
Lovely walk around Russell, thanks for showing us the sites. Cache safe and sound.
Thanks for the great tour! Learned a lot about this lovely little town. Left a Canadian TB behind!
Lovely and interesting guided walk around Russell thanks to this multi. Soon spotted the cache at go. Log signed and cache replaced as found. FP from us. TFTC
Cool little mission. We brought koko along to help us with this one. William and dad. TFTC
What a great way to see Russell. We enjoyed the walk and history. An easy find at gz. Left a swap item. Fav pt for showing us around. TFTV
Dies ist meiner erste Cache heute. So viel interessant Pläze! Danke für den Cache.
Great walk around to get the co-ordinates. We were very fortunate to have such wonderful weather for our visit. SL. TFTC
Yesterday we walked around Russell and collected the answers. So today one our walk in daylight, we walked straight to the cache. Thanks for this multi in this nice old town. We enjoyed the information given.
Woohoo 2nd multi ever completed (due to lack of caches in the area) had a lot of fun doing this and learnt a little more about my own home town. TFTC
Hallo, auf der Rundreise durch Neuseeland auch einige Caches mitgenommen.

Awesome multi.

Day 18 of our NZ trip. Took the ferry from Paihia this morning to have a ramble through Russel. What a great multi-cache, and one we were successful at!! Greetings from
A trip to Russell and a nice multi to show us the sights, all numbers found easily and a nice stroll to GZ, where the cache was found safely tucked away.

Nice ramble around the town with interesting history. Quick find at gz once we’d collected all the data
Took the opportunity while here seeing history in action to russell up the required info. Nice find in this beautiful location. TFTC
During my trip to New Zealand I visited some Caches, this was one of them. Thank you to all owners!
This was a great historical introduction to Russell. The fence is quite long, but the cairn of branches makes the cache easily recognizable. We took a guided tour at Pompallier House afterwards - highly recommended, it is a unique place. We understand why the guided tour has won awards. We have dropped a travel bug to encourage other cachers to do this one. Favourite point.
We spent a lovely morning in Russell - really a charming and civilised place these days, even if it's thronging with tourists!
I actually spent most of my time *in* the local museum while Trifolia Argentea was getting most of the waypoints for this one, but I joimed the search at the end. The hint was very helpful... once we worked out what it referred to!
Thanks for the cache!

Its an interesting walk around Russell capturing many historical sights. Thoroughly enjoyed it. Alas The Seagnid is not so happy as he left his GPS at the last location at the Church and by the time we realised it - its gone. So its caching by phone from here on in. Finally snagged and tagged this one. Loved the big tree along the beach front. Fav from me. Cheers
Thursday - day Thirteen - Kerikeri - Russell with The Seagnoid , toby and William. Zara gets to rest up in KeriKeri.
Its another epic 3+ week geocaching adventure with The Seagnoid, Zara, Toby and Willam to the Far North. What an amazing place to explore. Lots of walks, gravel roads and sand. Lots of amazing trees, beaches and interesting POIs. Lots of kilometers traveled by vehicle and foot. Vehicle breakdowns, making new friends and catching up with old friends and family. Snagged a couple of FTF's, lots of lonely caches and the odd event along the way. Lots of cache maintenance and replaced caches on this trip. But what an incredible adventure!!. Thanks to all the CO's who have made this trip so memorable..

I quite liked this multi. Except that I left my GPS behind somewherre. At the final, I think. By the time I realised and went back - about 1/2 hour later, it was gone. Police were unmanned so would not have been handed in. Hopefully someone finds it, works how to turn it on (a bit difficult, there is a big bit of rubber waterprooofing the power switch, so it does not work as well as it used to) and sees my phone number. On the other hand, they haven't yet. Well, I have been saying I want another. Snag is I am not that keen on their new models, I want another 450. Maybe Trademe will have one.
Day thirteen of an awesome, tiring, long, three week holiday geocaching with Taybeedragon in the upper north. Russell. The whole trip comprised of hours of walking on sand, sliding down sand dunes, hundreds of kilometres of unsealed roads, car breakdowns, paddling out to islands, lighthouses, dolphins, goats, events, FTFs, weird boulders. You name it, we saw it. Lots of bisons, lots of cache maintenance, lots of sunscreen. A month is enough. I am glad to be back home. Except that now I have to write up my trip. We averaged just 20 caches per day, but that is still a lot of logging!
Merry Christmas from the Seagnoid!

We had a wonderful walk through beautiful Russell. Thanks to the cache we saw many interesting buildings and learnt a lot. As the fence was cleaned today, we could not get to the cache box. Therefore photolog - hope that is ok TFTC
Not always good with Multies but got this one first go Found book handy as had not printed out any info and it is a good trail to go around. TFTC
Found with DisSister on our coach tour of the North Island. This was a great way to discover the history of Russell. I can see why so many people come here. Thanks Salty and Russell School
A lovely way to spend some time exploring this historic town. Cache was found safe and dry. TFTC, Salty- adopted & maintained by Russell School.
We. Isited the museum and bought the heritage trail to help us. Lots of interesting facts about Russell, gained from this cache. Signed log despite a lady sitting reading her book opposite the cache. Stealth definitely needed.Thank you for showing us around this interesting town.
Our sailing tour ended here. M and E went to return the boat as we stayed in Russell wandering around and searching some caches. This multi was a good start and a nice way to explore Russell.
Thanks for the cache.

A really interesting walk around Russell. Thanks for all of the effort that’s gone in to the cache.
Staying in Paihia for a few days - today I enjoyed a gentle amble/ ramble around Russell, following the path of this Multi.
I find Multis are my "bete noir" - they can take a lot of time for no reward; delighted to find the cache at my calculated GZ.
Thanks for this well-thought out Multi, Russell School.

I'm visiting NZ for 7 weeks and I've rented a car, making it easy to go geocaching. Today I drove from Paihia to Whangarei, via Russel and the coast. I had no idea it was soo beautiful here. It took forever to get to Whangarei, I had to stop for photos (and geocaches) every 5 minute. This is why I love geocaching, if it wasn't for all the caches that's placed here, I wouldn't have seen this part of the country.
About this cache:
I'm always looking for quick multi-caches when I'm travelling, as there's not many multis where I live. I almost didn't give this one a go, with over 20 waypoints, and the last log was a dnf. Then I realized it wasn't far between the points, and I would like to learn about Russell when I was here, so why not use it as a tourist guide? I'm glad I did this, it was a really nice way to learn about Russell. I did not expect to find the cache, and I didn't really care about that either, the tour itself was so interesting and nice. I couldn't figure out D at The Gables, so I was very happy to see that you had an alternative for D at the baptist church. The rest of the letters were easy to figure out. The final coordinates made sense, and I took a stroll over there, not expecting to find the cache. But I did!!!! I'm so glad to see that the cache was there, in good condition. The coordinates were a few meters off, but I found the hint, and the cache was right there, easily found. Thank you for this great multi, I'm adding a favouritepoint here. Greetings from Norway

Had a look at coordinates and at clue location but no sign of the cache. Nice tour of the town though. Thank you.
Tested. All good, but stay out of the new garden please, otherwise we have to shift it again!
Back in business in a new location. Hopefully all the clues are correct. Hopefully Kaitaia Primary will test it for me on Tuesday!
Such a lovely place for spending holiday. After cruise to the rock and watching dolphins I spent some time to work around Russell. Thanks for hiding and I put my own TB in. The rare yellow duck should travel around the world.
I really enjoyed that one. The perfect way to explore this nice little town...

We don't usually attempt multis of this size whilst on tour, but we had some time to spare before the boat back to Paihia so off we set on another tour of Russell. Very enjoyable wander around several areas we had already visited earlier in the day. Once at GZ the container was quickly located. SL and replace as found.
Found as part of our "2016 Pensioners' Road Trip"
Many thanks to RussellSchool for setting this cache and greetings from the Isle of Man.

This year me and RobLigtenberg were lucky enough to spend almost 2 months in New-Zealand on a great holiday. We explored both islands and just like everyone else we loved it. Apart from all the major attractions (roturua, tongariro, abel tasman, the glaciers, the fjords and so much more) we also tried to do some caches in order to discover even more of the country.
We found this cache on a very rainy day, but even then it was a nice way to explore Russel. Thanks for showing us around here!

During our nearly two month holiday in New Zealand we spend time on both the northern and southern island. Both islands happened to be very beautiful, each in its own way. Together with Ninagustein we searched for many caches, as we think it is a great way of discovering the country. Numerous caches get you to places you otherwise wouldn't have visited and it is also fun to find caches at touristic places. On this day it was quite rainy, so we didn't really have any activities planned for this day. From Paihia we took the ferry to Russell to do this multi. It was a nice one and thankfully it didn't rain too hard. The village has a great atmosphere!

Great walk around town. Dropped in tb. With Hedgehog's spoon and Plus Elle from Calgary Alberta Canada.
Today I used this multi as a guide through the lovely town of Russell. This decision proofed to be a good choice.
The stages are very interesting and well described. Unfortunately the crane is missing but the plate still exists. All answers were easy to find except for C as I had absolutely no idea what a "Hakaraia" could be ... until I finally realized it's a name ... (To my defense: English is not my first language.)
Thanks to the hint I could spot the container quickly.
Thanks for the nice tour through the town and greetings from Austria.

I was over in Russell today with my caching buddy to get our souvenir. I'd been over previously and found most of the co-ords so today was a quick pick up. My Grandparents used to live in Russell so I know most of the places. Their 50th wedding anniversary was held at the Duke of Marlborough. Spotted another geocacher following his GPS unit while we were still signing the log and pouring out our cuppa. Called out "Are you a geocacher?" When the reply was yes we told him we had the cache over here. Finished signing the log and enjoyed our cuppa from my new themos. Then we headed off to continue our caching day in this beautiful place. TFTC
Didn't manage the to do the multi but as luck would have it just happened to be admiring the view when a light went on in the grey matter and realized we were within a couple of metres of the cache.
Enjoyed going around Russell to find the cache. Great spot and great town. Tftc!!! #765 dropped tb
Had a wonderful walk around Russell finding all manner of things in this beautiful historical sinful (once) village. We found four churches too. TFTC
Fun cache. Saw a bunch of places that I probably wouldn't have checked out on my own. Managed to get family involved too. Thanks. Lots of fun
11:30am 20/3 - the weather was beautiful this morning, so our first stop was this multi. All the waypoints are places we've already been to, so picking up the facts was easy.
The container however is no longer a Napisan bottle, it's a Sistema (they all seem to be these days). Since last being found it appears to have been muggled - the log bears the signature of a random finder and we think they've nicked the TB as well. Looks like the container has just been lobbed into the garden as it was not where the hint indicated (we resorted to it when we were unable to find it from GPS).
All in all, a great wander and a good find.
