I am archiving this cache since there's been no response from nor action by the cache owner within the time frame requested in a prior reviewer note.
Hi GYARGHThis geocache was brought to my attention as being in need of an owner maintenance visit and after my previous reviewer note, there has been no cache maintenance logged. The cache owner needs to check on this cache ASAP and either replace it or archive it, after picking up any geo-litter. See the [maintenance section of the Geocache Listing Requirements/Guidelines](http://www.geocaching.com/about/guidelines.aspx#listingmaintenance).I've added this cache to my watchlist, and I will check back in four weeks to be sure that the maintenance has been done. In the meantime, I have temporarily disabled this listing. When the maintenance is completed, the owner can enable the listing by clicking on the link below the cache name to return it to active status.Whatever your intentions, please **post a note** here on the cache page (not email) to let us know that you are still active and maintaining the cache. If a month passes without seeing a response, then I'll assume that this listing should be archived. Please note, that if a cache is archived due to lack of owner maintenance, the cache is unable to be unarchived.RegardsTheCoddiwompler
Didn't find it today. Had six pairs of eyes looking. Guessing it has been muggled or overly well covered now.
No luck here today for me GPS wouldnt quite settle for me so thoroughly checked the main log and a few others in the area just in case but no luck not to say it isnt there so I will keep an eye on any new logs and try again another day
Had a thorough look, missed it. Log falling apart now, easy stroll up, so D3.5/T2 fits better. That cave is surprisingly deep!
Had a go tackling some forest hill geocaches with a mate today. Stupidly forgot to bring a pen and left it in the car so just attached pictures of the log to prove. TFTC
Found - Mrs McMike2012 & I had just spent Christmas with family in Invercargill … we now live full-time in our caravan & travel the country visiting places we want to visit … we were freedom camping at the Southland District Council camp site at the Dunsdale Recreational Reserve … we decided that we would drive over to the Forest Hill Reserve & walk the ‘Derek Turnbull Track’ … we used to picnic here as kids 50-odd years ago ... picked up this Cache on our travels ... pleased to add another 'smiley face' to the tally … TFTC ... TN:LN:SL ... #1,957 for us.
School holidays, on a trip with the lad round the lower south to grab some DOC Guardian Posts, with a few bonus caches thrown in for me. Walked up the track for the DOC post, back to the Weta cave, and then a cache. Productive walk all round. TFTC
Found on our way back down from the lookout. Didn’t come prepared with a pen though so couldn’t log in book
Went away for a camping trip / tiki tour of the lower South Island with our 6 week old boy, and 4yo daughter.
Was planning on mainly doing the Kiwi Guardians adventures for the 4yo, but obviously there were a few caches about too, so found those where they were around!

Hunted for some time for this elusive one. Finally got it tagged. Cheers.
Thursday 5 November. Wintons wherigo is on the radar today also visited Foresthill. Time to go exploring Toby!
Toby, Zara and I are on a 3 week geo adventure of Cromwell, Southland, Catlins, Balclutha with a day in Dunedin and quick stop in Timaru. With Lenny, my trusty navigator and TBD my companion/mascot. we managed to visit lots of green boxes, now happy faces with the odd sad one. Did some LABs , earth caches, virtuals and wherigos, all chucked into the mix to rack up 500 odd caches. Lots of kilometers, lots of exploring and lots of fun. Thanks to all COs for our wonderful experience.

Little wet today heading up to Kiwi Guardian post for kids up top. Grabbed this one on our way past and visited weta cave. Well hidden, great camo.
We'll you either find these right up or never. Never for me.
Very wet so maybe try again when a little dryer.

My daughter was interested in the cave, so up we went. A fairly easy walk given the T rating, but the cave at the end was a big disappointment. Took a bit of searching to locate the container, but I was just making the search more difficult than it needed to be. TFTC!
passed by this one on my way to find another, and stopped for a look, and magically stopped my grouching.
all good at GZ, nice and dry

First one ever! walk this track a bit so I thought it was a good place to start
We'd looked at this one for a while, but we'd never really been out this way so kept putting it off. Not today though, decided to make an afternoon of it and this was the last one on the way home. We heard voices coming towards us just as we uncovered the cache, so had to grab it and dart off to a nearby area to sign the log. A nice little walk on a sunny autumn afternoon.
We made the most of the fine afternoon, grabbing the 5 up the Dunsdale area. Keen for one more, we made the hike up here, will come back for the Canz one another day. We made this harder that it should have been, found "in last place we looked" after about 5 minutes. The lookout can wait for another day too.
[24 Sep 15 TFTC Threw in some swag and grabbed the logbook in a clean baggy. Rewrapped the gillie suit and returned the cache insitu less visible. ]Was easily grabbed from the track.
GPS signal was jumping all over the place and with the rain that we had 3 days ago everything is very wet and I wasn't prepared to get too grubby. Next time I'm here I'll bring my gummies and torch up instead of leaving them in the car because that cave looks very interesting.
Tftc out on a walk to find a kiwi guardian as well. Son a bit gutted at the weta cave as it requires a fair bit of imagination.
A lovely Southland summer day, so off to see how many I can get - aiming for 2000 by end of year.
A muggle car (Mum and daughter) arrives minutes after I did. Let them get ahead a bit then headed out.
Quick find at GZ, but didn't expect to find an outer bag with its own ghillie suit. Not sure why, unless it was a wet cache in 2016 when the 2nd logbook was added.
That bag is damp inside, but not too bad, and cache is dry.
Signed original logbook, as plenty of room in there. Replaced as found.
Busy place today. While I was checking out the info at the cave another family group came down from the lookout, and on my way out I passed 2 groups going in. And another coming out as I write this.
Thanks for the smilie.

Sixth for the day. Goog walk from the parking. Quick find and visited the nearby cave site also. TFTC.
Nice walk this morning with miss K to revisit this cache with a swap this time. In good nick.
Mum's ache is ½ right, I'm still aching from our big walk through the dunes yesterday. That's a short but uphill trek to the cache. Found not very hidden and SL and returned with some cover. Lots of unlogged signatures in there. tftc
Quick find once I had the right log! Carried on walking up to the look out. Great view but I think I'll have sore legs tomorrow! Tftc
When I left the carpark for the CANZ cache at the southern end of the Forest Hill Reserve track to come here a woman was just starting on the track. When I was halfway up the track from the carpark to this one I saw here running down the track. A few minutes later she was on her way back up the track. I suppose quite a few people are following Derek Turnbull's footsteps.
Cheers for the cache.
Cheers for the cache.
That was an easy find! Seriously. We had a few concerns when we read the previous logs (hell of a walk etc.) but we thought it was a quick and easy walk up (steady). And - coordinates were spot on!!! I laid our Garmin 62s on a log to check the coordinates and it showed me that the cache was just one meter away. In fact I put it on THE log and thanks to the camo I found first, the cache was soon in our hands and signed. Logbook is a bit damp but general speaking the cache is in a good condition considering that it has not been found for almost a year. Thanks for this little walk (we did not do the loop as we have to find more caches today).
Breathing hard, stop to search the forest. GPS only locating me down to 12m so using the clue the search begins. Then I spot the large log and success. (I had been focusing on smaller logs/branches. Completed the rest of the loop track. Had to hurry to catch up with family. Lovely bit of bush been many times and even entered the small cave before the barrier placed. The stream travels down past the carpark where there are more caves (Ground hollows). TFTC log book a bit damp spose it never gets a chance to dry.
I'm in the area staying with a friend so thought we'd come out for a little Boxing day caching trip. This is somewhere she regularly comes but had no idea there was anything hidden here. After finding the cache we headed up to the loop track where there's a good viewpoint. On the trip back there's a fallen tree on the track but it was easy to get around. The logbook felt a bit damp but still perfectly usable. The Weta cave is also an interesting little side trip.
Found this cache after a lovely walk through the bush to the weta cave, so cool to find hidden gems like this around southland, TFTC and for bringing us here!
TFTC so how do they know the weta cave is 30m long if one is not allowed in it?!...
We really enjoyed this short walk through the bush. Had envisaged going into the Weta Cave and have them drop on me - luckily you're not supposed to go in there at all. Thank goodness! TFTC.
great cache, found with wethreefourdices.
Beautiful country, children enjoyed the walk also.

Was on our way South to Invercargill and decided that since we did Dad's Ache it was a necessity to do Mum's Ache, I think personally we enjoyed Mum's Ache more that Dad's but that's our opinion. We definitely love these bush walks, UT ran out of time to do the rest of the caches in this reserve so we will be back to finish them so time later. Thanks for bringing us to this lovely spot, TFTC TNLNSL (2958)
Good easy find with Mike(nephew) as GPS Controller. What a great track in memory of the fastest old man in the world.
Beautiful day for a walk up the hill but was a bit puffed at the top.TFTC

A great walk. Have been meaning to bring the kids out here for ages so thanks for making us get there!
Rosie egged me on. I'm sure she did the track three times to my one. An easy find at GZ. Thanks for the exercise.
A very enjoyable run over the hill from the South carpark. Easy find, coordinates spot on. I s the terrain really worth 3 stars? TFTC
Totally agree with bladesedge below! We hunted round for a while as GPS kept pointing us in different directions, then our daughter found it! TFTC.
At least Dad's Ache was flat! Still a nice evening walk and the cache was easily found. TFTC

If only I had thought it was that simple before some bushbashing! TFTC. Dropped off GPS Maze GC.
Whoa, forgot about the hill part in Forest Hill. How ironic! Not that it was that hard. Didn't take frenchfairy and I too long, but love the camo net - it was quite cool. Haven't been to see the weta in a while, not since I was little. The GPS didn't struggle with this one too much.
