Camped in at the John Hayes Rockhole campsite... optimistically looked to see if there were any caches in the area...and low and behold . A rock hop down the creek which is still running, good coords and description led to a quick find. I also found and returned the missing pencil, on the ground near the cache. Cache secure and in good condition...signed the log and left as found. We did the spectacular Chain of Ponds walk yesterday...great with all the water running...wading the waist deep water in the final sections of the gorge. A refreshing swim afterwards in the rockhole TFTC and providing some fun in our camping trip.
WanAus 124 - John Hayes Rock Hole1.5/2.0 Small Traditional Cache Had a hard time deciding where to go after the event. Eventually we picked Trephina Gorge! East it is!Thank you for the cache WanderingAus. Great detour. No traffic on the way in but another Jimny and 4wd on the way out. That's heavy traffic!
Tried to find this one on a visit to the rock hole but it wasn’t obvious to us. Had to give up after about 15minutes of searching. Not sure if iPhones gps was acting up or we were just having an off day.
We braved the road to make it down here and well worth the trip. No swimming for us today, but it was fun to rock hop a little ways and see the chain of pools. We also didn't manage the complete chain of pools walk today, but I did rush up to the lookout. Impressive landscape. The case was found without any issues. TFTC
We came in to checkout the rock pools. We did the loop walk and it was great seeing the gorge from different angles as we walked through it.
Managed to spot the lid as I was looking around for a place it could be. Everything is good with the cache. We have placed rock back in front.
TNLNSL. Thanks for placing

Loved the walk, reminded us of Karijini National Park in WA. Cache safe and in great condition. Pencil and 2 sharpeners with some swaps and plenty of space in the log still. TFTC
Spent the day today touring the Eastern MacDonnell Ranges with ilook4geo. We had a fun day exploring various tracks, gorges and other places of interest. Each found log was signed and returned to place. We love the scenery out here, as it is absolutely spectacularly rugged and so beautiful.
The tour also included part of the Binns Track which was an easy run.
Thank you to WanderingAus for placing this cache which was an easy find.

Spent the day with goingplaces2 and headed east out of Alice Springs. Love the geology and scenery. Happy to log this cache as a find with both names being added to the log. TFTC.
The drive to this waterhole was a long and bumpy, and we expected to be the only ones at the making the trek. When we arrived we were surprised and the number of people there. The cache was found after a short walk through the grasses.
After a rough drive in the cache was found in the last place we looked, which as usual was not the first place we looked. There was heaps of water in the rock hole. Thanks for placing a fun cache guys. We do love your work. We signed the logbook. Of course we did that is way we play this game. Cache in pretty good condition for the cache age.

Found on a quick caching run north. Adelaide to Alice Springs and back in a week.
It was a bumpy ride in but well worth it.
Didn't take too long to spot the cache.

On our second day in Alice and we took a drive to Ross River Homestead. Turn off from the main road and then down a bumpy track to find this cache with Jac-Jam. TFTC.
A short drive in and we had this one in quick time, wow, that pool would hold a LOT of water when running.
Alice is expecting rain so I've come out this way to get a few more smileys in the area before the roads are too messy. Once again this is another fabulous location, the place has soo many. TFTC
Thank you for the efforts on this one! The walk up/down the gorge is well worth doing while you are here. Location was accurate on this one.
The Big Western Australia trip in 2018. Day 9. Today was a long day getting to head North, starting with a loop around the East McDonald Ranges, including Trephina Gorge and Arltunga. I got to revisit the Plenty Highway via the current Binns track and after a quick stop at Gemtree back to the Highway till dusk.
All I can say is that was a challenging track. It was not too far, but bump bump bump all the way, and the stony section at the end was interesting. Plenty of people camping here today.
Thanks.

Out to find some sights our daughter who lives in Alice has told us about, this gorge and what is hidden here to see

Well that was a great drive in
What a spectacular area to discover, and we need to say that NT parks do a magnificent job with all camp areas, could not be happier

Found this yesterday 15/9. Probably the most scenic walk we've done through the East and West Macs. Caves through all the rock walls, not a lot of water, but still the odd pool, and an awesome horseshoe bend. TFTC.
WHOOPS! I'm logging about 100-200 or so caches like 3 months after the trip that we found them on! Completely forgot to log these but I did not forget the trip! Found this cache along with many others on an adventure around the red centre. Along this adventure we visited and explored many phenomenal and surreal places such as Woomera, Coober Pedy, Uluru and Mutitjulu, Kata Tjuta, Wattarka, Tnorala, Both East and West Macdonnell ranges, Arltunga, Ruby Gap, Palm Valley, Parts of the Finke road, Boggy Hole, Rainbow Valley, Old Ghan Route, Chambers Pillar, Oodnadatta track, Mount Dare, Dalhousie Springs, Painted Desert, Moon plane and I'm sure I've missed a few! Thank you so much for the cache. Found with Ferociousflea and -Beaker- along with our mint 79 series that accomplished alot in this two week time frame.

I couldn't leave Trephina Gorge without taking this little detour to pick up one last cache
I soon discovered that this little detour,
is not your average 'easy' little bounce along a dirt road type detour !! [:o]
It is a narrow, rocky, twisty, sandy little detour along the Ross River to a beautiful waterhole [^]
There are some spots you don't want to meet someone coming the other way
But overall it is easy, but slow, going
At the end of the trail I found the delightfully small camping area.
And a decision was made !!
I know where I'm camping tonight
'Tis a far cry from the crowding of the other campgrounds [^]
The cache came next on the agenda,
and after a scratchy stroll across the river,
I followed the geotrail up the hill to GZ
And as for the waterhole ??
Yep !! There's water in that thar hole
And a beautiful gorge to go exploring,
if you can get past the waterhole
TFTC,
and bringing me out to this great little spot [^]

Found on ANZAC Day, and we paused a number of times today to reflect on our good fortune to be able to wander freely in this beautiful country of ours. The cache here was only a small part of the fun - we did the walk which takes you scrambling back through the Gorge, a little bit adventurous in place and all the more fun for it! Thanks for the hide in such a great secluded spot.
Found during the Alice not-a-mega. I lived on this park for 3 months in 1997 and this was my first visit back here in 20 years. Really great to come back. Fav point awarded. Thanks WanderingAus

Awesome drive in to this one!!!!!! ACT Chill's XV did really well to traverse the road. LOl - the others even did some rental-car fun as well. 4as1 team was OK in our Hilux. Lots of fun had.
The canyon and pool are lovely. Not sure why the couple there wern't 'enjoying' it further, but people randomly turning up may have had something to do with that.
Found as part of the 'Capital Crunchers' team for the day
Thanks to WanderingAus for the cache.
Found during our five week journey half-way around Australia, for the NT Experience OzMega event, somewhere between: ACT -> NSW -> Qld -> NT -> SA -> Vic -> NSW -> ACT.
So many stories to tell. So many experiences had. So little time to mention them all.
Sincerely

Caching in the Alice Springs and Eastern MacDonnell ranges region for the long, long weekend all thanks to the Red Center Experience geocaching event in Alice 13-17th April 2017. My apologies for a generic log, but I'm notorious for not logging my caches. I am just trying to get up-to-date so someday I can celebrate milestones again. cheers and thanks to all for their efforts to make the hide findable and most in a location worthy of a visit without geocaching (but I'm glad I got a smiley too!)

The Capital Cachers made arrangements to head out in four cars today to explore the East McDonnell ranges. We made our way along the 4WD drive for what seemed like ages. I was very glad when we got near gz as I wasn't sure we were going to be able to make it the whole way. What a gorgeous campground and spot. Out on a bit of a 4WD trip to the East MacDonnell ranges, a couple of us called in here after the others had set off back into town. A pleasant walk from the carpark to this scenic little spot where we stayed for quite a while, taking photos, and watching the frogs, and simply admiring the view before us. Thanks to WanderingAus for the hide.
Absolutely awesome area. There are just so many things to see/visit in the NT. Thanks so much for bringing us here and thanks for the cache.
We travelled from South Australia in search of rugged remote scenery, insight into interesting history and catching up with fellow cachers. Oh and attending The Red Centre Experience!
Expectations have been met and I've enjoyed many great times.
This cache was the fourth on Good Friday .
We opted for quality caching and over quantity, and weren't disappointed
It was a very pretty drive in, a little hairy at times accomodating two vehicles on the narrow track!
No water today but can imagine how beautiful it would be when wet
Thanks for the fun guys!

Found as part of the Red Centre Event. Only room for one vehicle on the track in. Made for an interesting drive. Good location. Thanks for the cache.
We came out this morning to check out the gorgeous views at the Gorge and this fun 4WD road looked too good to pass up...especially when you are travelling in convoy (safety in numbers!). Passed a lady on the way out who hailed us to ask if the waterhole was worth driving into, we had to admit we didn't know! We hadn't gone that far we'd stopped at the cache and turned around as we needed to start heading back into town so Mrs McLooker would get to the airport in time! TFTC it was a beautiful spot.
Out around the Ross highway today to find some more.

Travelling around Australia and now super excited to be at Alice Springs for the Easter Geocaching Event.
Seemed bit odd this morning as it wasn't so hot. So a plan to travel a little further than we have been. [^]
It was after 9.00am when Mr Felix decided we should head out towards Arltunga
Loved the 4x4 drive in out here. Still some water in the rockhole but obviously you wouldnt be getting in here if there was more water around. . Fave point.
We only got home after 6.00pm but what beautiful scenery and history we were able to explore using Geocaching as our tour guide.

Drove to this cache with a 4-wheel campervan. Was a interesting drive but worth the time. We nearly drove by, but simply stopped as the way got very very rocky. Switched on the gps again and found that we were at the right place.
The location is a very nice place and after 10 minutes there we started looking for the cache. Another 15 minutes later we signed the logbook and drove back to the main road.

While visiting Alice Springs we toured east to Ross River Resort and looked for caches along the way. We found this cache, Picked up Koala TB will move along shortly. TFTC
We stayed one night here, was very nice to do the pond walk in the next morning. The drive in wasn't to hard, anyway high clearance is probably good to have. Thanks for bringing us here!
Catching up on some late, very late and extremely late logs (400 in all)
I would like to thank WanderingAus for placing this cache. I always enjoy getting out and about to view this great country of ours and caching allows me to do that. Once at GZ, I sometimes find the cache quickly but sometimes it takes awhile to sus out the well camouflaged hide. Once found, log is signed and the cache is rehidden as found.
Once again thanks WanderingAus.

4794 Found by baby&Mrs gopher in company with micaparamedic and Farmers5 at 1030. Left Alice this morning to find the caches in the gorges along the Ross highway. Some unreal country along here. SL Tnx WanderingAus
Camped overnight at trephina gorge campsite and then on the way out this morning unloaded the bike and headed into the rockhole. Awesome place which we may not have bothered about if not for caching. A favourite point for location, thanks.
In Alice for only a few days. I headed up to check out the local gorges and gaps a short drive outside of town. Then back in to get the car all fixed and sorted for the next section of our trip. All caches were in good condition and easy enough to find with good coords. Thanks for all the hides.
