Up north for a few days with Vistra. It was a beautiful day between the showers. The area was pretty quiet today with no muggles around to delay our caching efforts. No issues here. Tftc

23-Jul-24
I was up north for a week, visiting family with TheLandGirl and today we took a day trip out to Whananaki to do some exploring and some caching. Whananaki is an area I spent a bit of time as a child (particularly Otamure Bay), as dad would often come up here fishing and diving. A nice easy park and grab here, TFTC!

01-Jul-24
Found on a miserable day! Have stayed at our bach near here so many times, first time cashing in the area. Disturbed by a lost meter reader, whom I hopefully correctly directed back up the road! TFtC.

Well, that's one of the great things about Geocaching - it takes you to beautiful places that you may not have been before. Sad to say, I have lived in and around Whangarei for all of my 60+ years and I have never ventured along this road further than Whananaki North.

With such glorious mid winter weather though, today was the day, with 6 caches on offer before the end of the no exit road.

Pulled up into this tiny wee reserve and it looked like it had suffered some damage in the recent storm, so no wonder the cache had to be shifted a bit. Was just about to walk over to the new location, when 3 muggles appeared walking their dogs. Once they had moved on, I headed over and with the good hint, soon made the find.

After signing the brand new log, I was just about to replace the cache, when the retired muggles reappeared and asked me what was I doing? Was I looking for something.? Honesty was the best policy, so I explained our interesting game and then ended up chatting about fishing and weather and storms etc for a good 10 minutes. Seems over the years they had talked to several people looking for this cache. TFTC

16-Mar-19
I hunted for this one last time I was in the area too but again got a dnf. Disappointing to see lots of kina shells around on the ground despite a bin being provided here especially for kina shells. Another nice surf beach.

22-Jul-18
While staying at the local Holiday Park took time out to find a couple of caches many thanks

03-Apr-18
Found on the 1st but we were camping at the Farm campground and had no reception. We weren’t too sure whether we had the right tree at first and were ready to give up as Miss 7’s hay fever started playing up with the freshly mown grass. But yet again Master 9 spotted it!

29-Jan-18

A quick stop whilst exploring the local area. I'd been out to the Poor Knights the day prior in fairly ordinary weather, amazing what 24 hours difference can make.
TNLNSL, thanks for the cache No Fixed Aboder.
best wishes,

Tracking down a few of the elusive caches that we have seen but never had a chance to grab. Still nice and dry despite time between finds. TFTC.

28-Dec-15
Wandered over the road from where I was staying to show our host what Geocaching was and also for them to show me where we would be diving this afternoon. Had to wait for a car to finish loading up with gear and depart before we could go in for the hunt. Cache found nicely tucked away, thank's for the hide.

09-Jul-15
Easily found, even with no phone service. Thanks for the cache!

24-May-15
Thanks so much Salty for replacing the cache. I forgot my pen, so the new sheet remains untouched! Clever hide.

22-May-15
Stopped for another quick rest & to admire the view...didn't spy the cache where I remember it being (6 years ago?!)
Luckily had a small vial & logsheet that tucked in nicely; should be sufficient until owner's next visit Smile

22-Mar-15
Checked high and low, and in between. Several trees where searched, just in case there was a problem with the co-ords, but sadly no cache was found. We did walk down to the beach, quite different with its grainy/pebble texture! Beautiful location, just no cache.

22-Mar-15
No luck for me either, had a good look. Beautiful beach though all was not lost.

06-Dec-14
LOOKED HIGH AND LOW, but not for me today. The kina are ay a karo tree, but my gps took me to the pohutukawa tree. Thanks for taking me here.

It took us 3 visits to find this one. Very good camo job - so cool to see people going the extra mile! There were a few muggles floating around the first times, so were forced to come back later. A nice wee beach that we would never have known about if not for this cache. TNLN. Thanks for the great cache!!!

04-Oct-09
Ended up at Mimiwhangata and had to back track through some new areas for The Southern Clan and found some lovely back roads from Teal Bay to connect to the correct road for the destination. Found the destination, beautifull location but unfortunately could not locate the cache, hope it's still there. Searched the middle clues as well as the 2 on the right and across the creek. may need to improve our searching skills.

19-Sep-09
Cunning camo job and who's eating all the mints? In plain sight but the eyes passed over it in favour of holes and such like. TFTC and sorry you weren't home when we called! It would have been nice to meet you.

Got to the Reserve, Proceeded to head towards the reserve, oh hold on we are getting further away. Followed the gps and ended up someones driveway - this isnt right. Went back to the reserve and looked at all of the named objects ahh here it is. Let NFA know the updated Co-ords

09-Sep-09
The co-ords for us was out but we still managed to get the cache and so did the mermaid. Used our geocaching instincts to work out where GZ was. TFTC and the hunt to find it.

09-Sep-09
Oooh 9/9/09 an auspicious day, so even with the sometimes wonky vintage GPS I had no problem finding this one and got another FTF today, woohoo #2!! ...Great camo job on this l'il cache &nice log paper too Wink This wonderful little bay is like the cache; easily missed if you don't already know about it and aren't looking in the right direction. I think many drive right on past without seeing it.... great place for a cache; Thanks!!

09-Sep-09
Arrived at the carpark and promptly headed away from the beach, hmm this seems odd, looks like somones yard, cant be right. Checked the clue and then proceded to search every one of the named objects.
