Today, the weather was forecast to be dismal with thunderstorms and a rain drenching! Consequently, gridge98 and I retreated to the more dry vicinity of Upper Yorke Peninsula. Other than a few drizzles, we had good weather. We visited Paskeville, Kadina, Moonta, Balgowan, Point Pearce, Maitland, and Arthurton, with highlights of the mining relics, 4WD-ing along the west coast beach, and finally dinner and heading around Maitland. A long day out and about, arriving home just after midnight.

This geocache had us looking up and down and around the place, and it wasn't until we were reading past logs (specifically skuzzybear's comments), that we realised where this cache was hidden. Consequently, we then managed to find the cache. The cache container and logbook were in good shape. Thanks Rocky Glen Grommets for the cache placement, and Dazzatron/Margieh for its ongoing maintenance.

Nomads travelling in their caravan around Australia. We have been on the road since July 2011 and discovered caching in August 2013. We travel with a bunch of travel bugs belonging to our sons and grand children.

Today, we are camped in the showgrounds, and notice that Maintland is one big square, so we decided to find all the caches within that square, acting as tourist as we went.

Farmer Skool had us bushed, but eventually we found it. Thanks Rocky Glen Grommets, Dazzatron and Margieh, Oh, and @skuzzybear for replacing the container

08-Feb-20
Log and cache both completely putrid and wet. On ground and open., half buried in leaf litter. Just nasty. It's near a gate but isn't it the best place cos the gate looks used with regularity now. Only because of the AGE of the cache, I Replaced cache like for like with another blue eclipse tin, put in a new log with plastic bag. Whilst unorthodox, I place cache in fork of first fluffy tree to right of gate under SPOR not back at gate where I am sure it was muggled TYFTC

Spent a few days on Yorkes with earthlight, catching up with The X-Trailers. Day 1 was spent checking/maintaining/archiving caches. Day 2 was more maintenance and Day 3 we got to go geocaching. This is one of the caches found along the way.

It's fabulous to turn a blue frown into a yellow smiley

We left Esperance 3 days ago for the Yorke Peninsular after 4 months spent mainly enjoying the warm weather up north. It’s been a bit of a let down since we reached Perth and the weather cooled right down. The sun is thinking about coming out today, and we’re cheering it on. Tomorrow we aim to start on our adventure trying to pick up as many caches as we can before heading back home to Victoria in the last week of September.
We have just set up camp at the back of the Showgrounds in Maitland and intend to base ourselves here for a few days as we start on the power trails in the area:
Another muddy road, but through we went.
Luckily a quick find.

Another day on the Yorke with the Rat seeking more smilies in this part of our state. The weather was a tad cool and a sprinkle of H2O failed to dampen our spirits.

Day 4
Last full day on the York. With the end in sight of the big trail we pushed on and managed to clear it off the map. This gave us some spare time to cache some more around other towns in this area

Found with sharkiefan

A Big week was planned to travel around South Australia, staying in Minlaton, Tarlee and Adelaide. We cache along a number of Trails, managed to grab a few off the beaten track, some well known caches and the odd one that
came up on the map as we were travelling around.

It ended up being a massive week of 2960 odd kilometers travelled, with day find counts of 25, 256, 361, 318, 66, 205, 104 and 76 (yep thats 1411 for the 8 days)
1062 micro, 238 small, 60 Regular, 45 large, 3 Virtual and 3 Other.

Not magnetic and in tree.
Found with FUF009. Logs were signed SFF9 or F9SF depending on who was the finder. Usually dependent on what side of the road the cache was on.
Today is day 4 of our 8 day caching trip to SA. Today's goal is to finish the Gone Fishn' series and then take a look around some of the towns. This was one of 318 caches found today.
This was a much more enjoyable day as the end of the trail was in sight.
It's a lovely area and we were happy to get to see more of it.
Apologies for the generic log, if there were any issues with the cache, it'll be mentioned at the start of my log.

The Gone Fishn' series has been on the radar for quite some time but who wants to take it on solo. [xx(] Not this little black duck. Wink So when I got an invite from mogni to start the trail on the 18th April I jumped at the chance. We were joined by SA Sewer Rats that day and we made it to the trail at 9.00 a.m. and cached till 5.30 p.m and got from #037 and conveniently finished at #245 Cool
We discovered quite a few things. It can be a bit boring. You need to leave the trail every now and then or go bonkers. [B)][B)] Stamping two names and writing one other takes a long time. Surprised
Only three days later and mogni and I are back again, this time with BratKat replacing SA Sewer rats and simply using the group name GOTHS to stamp the log books. Boy did that save some time. Wink
This time we also left the trail for a big break in Maitland for a pub lunch and some other caching.[8)]
Unless otherwise stated it was a case of:

Stop- find cache - sign - move on. Repeat. Smile [:o)]

Time to head into Maitland for a well earned Pub Meal. But first of course we had to stop for a few on the way in and then again on the way out and back to the trial. Spent a lot of time looking for a micro and ignored the logical location where mogni found a small! SurprisedSmile

**Thanks Rocky Glen Grommets for this cache. ** Big Grin

Another big day out working towards a milestone. We were targetting the big powertrail but wanted to mix it up a bit and find a few others too. I had my closest encounter with a snake, which fortunately saw me as I didn't see it until it was heading underground.
Thanks to Rocky Glen Grommets from mogni Big Grin

And to me surprise I found that the edge of the road was deep mud [:o]
Noooo !!
Not on me nice clean bike Red Face

Ah well,
at least I didn'f fall off Smile
That could have been messy [:o)]

I jumped across the muddiness and went looking for a cache.
A skool bus drove slowly past [:o]
Then a local drove past !!
Busier than Pitt Steet on Christmas Eve !! Razz

After 10 minutes of avoiding electrocution,
I could only find a magnet attached to the fence.
No cache Sad

The cache appears to be in need of owner intervention.

I am temporarily disabling it, to give the owner an opportunity to check on the cache, and take whatever action is necessary.

Please respond to this situation in a timely manner (i.e., within 28 days) to prevent the cache from being archived for non-responsiveness.

If you require more time please be sure to post a note (not an email) explaining the situation and how much more time you require.

For ongoing issues please ensure you visit the listing and post a new note every 28 days to keep everyone up to date or the cache will be treated as an abandoned cache and archived without further notice.

Given this one was last found **28/07/2015** and has three consecutive DNF's by knowledgeable seekers, plus a Needs Maintenance log - Not sure what's happened to 'regular maintenance' here but perhaps it's about time for a CO's check.!

#3 the sheet was wet and we replaced the log, unfortunately there was no room in the cache to have both, so we will scan / photograph the sheet and put it in photos. Hope that will be ok. The cache was on the ground so we have returned it to what we thought was the correct location.
