. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . Today steffixx and me spent another wonderful day here in NZ while driving from Okiwi Bay to French Pass and back. We parked the car close to the coordinates, enjoyed the view, took some photos and looked for the cache. We found it and wrote our names into the logbook. Yippie - another found in New Zealand!! A big thank you to kiwi-nomad for leading us here and showing this beautiful place and of course also for maintaining this cache here on site!Best wishes from the North Sea, Germany, from Cuxine . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . ________________oooooooo____________oooooooooooooo_________oooooooooooooooooo________oooooooooooooooooooo_______oooooooooooooooooooo____oooooo_______oooooooooooooooooooo___ooo__ooo_______oooooooooooooooooooo__oooo____oo________oooooooooooooooooooooooo_________oooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo_oooo_______oooooooooooooooooo________ooooo___ooooooooooooooooooooooo_________oo_ooo____oooooooooooooooooooooooooo_____oooooooo__ooo_oooooo__________oo___oooo_______ooo__ooo_ooo______oooo__ooo_______oooo___ooo__ooo___ooooo___ooo_____ooo___ooo____oo____ooo____oooooo__ooo____ooooooo____________ooo_____ooooo____ooo

After traveling around Australia with Oopie for 7 weeks, we have now been traveling with the camper in New Zealand for 4 weeks. Along the way we will of course also visit various types of caches in beautiful places, including this one. Thanks CO for creating and laying this cache.
Together with Travelser I'm going Down Under. We are driving around with a motorhome. After 7 weeks driving around through Australia we arrived the 2th November in New Zealand. For ten days we will cross the Northern Island and than for 2 weeks the Southern Island.During our trip we of course search for several caches. Most of them brought us to very nice spots, like this one.All the CO's, and in this case kiwi-nomad, thanks for bringing us here and give our trip a special accent.
Wow, what a view! And have to tip my hat to Harold, that road could not have been easy! Thanks so much for the cache! I came all the way from Vancouver BC Canada to find this cache Thanks for being part of the adventure!
Von uns aus gesehen am anderen Ende der Welt ist Junior zufällig über diesen Cache gestolpert und hat uns in diesem Logbuch verewigt. Wunderschöne Gegend. Greetings from Germany, Familie Taferplitz

Marchwood and I are out today driving up to French Pass finding caches. I wanted Steve to park closer, but somehow I manged the walk of a few meters. TFTC.
Parked and headed for the cache location. Thank goodness it didn't take too long to find as I was struggling to stand up in the wind. TFTC
Great spot to park and enjoy the views. Quick find I’m between some panoramic shots. TFTC
found on the way to french Pass. Lovely view from GZ. Just a bit windy. Thanks for hiding Kiwi-Nomad
Beautiful day trip to French Pass, and found this on the way back to base. Tftc.
3 January 2022 14:12. A beautiful place for a spot of lunch, TFTC. I can't imagine what life would have been likes before the road,!
Fantastic viewing point. Harold must b happy here lovey day for drive to French pass from Okiwi.
Found about a week ago, sorry for late notice, been out of creek range a lot. Did not have any device with me but it was such an obvious cache looking spot! Thank you
Made a quick decision to stop to let a guy with a boat get by. Great views with mist in valleys. Read plaque and moved some rocks on off chance. After checking app tried other side. Taken geocoin to move on. TFTC
Found on way out from camping at French Pass. Left CW's Kansas Sunshine coin to continue its journey around the world. Thanks to Harold Leov for the hard work in putting the road in and the CO for placing the cache.
Stopped here so Taybeedragon can make the find - I have been here before. Dropped off a TB.
Its getting a bit cooler here with light cloud cover and light breeze. So pulled out my jacket to get this one snagged and tagged. Cheers. Checked out the plaque before getting back on the road.
Bulwer and French Pass are on my radar to explore today, with the Seagnoid and Toby along for the ride. Left home at 6am and finally crawled back home at 9.30 having dinner at Okiwi Bay before leaving the sounds. Great views on a beautiful clear day with little wind. Lots of driving and lots of maintenance on this trip.

#7786. Day 2 of my Marlborough geocaching adventure. Have come south for a work meeting but arrived early to do a bit of exploring in a rental car. Today the plan is to drive out to Bulwer and French Pass. Little did I realise at this early stage just how far away those roads were from civilisation and the rather nerve-wracking drives on gravel roads with certain death plunges if you lost concentration and slid off the edge of the road with no protective barrier. Decided to skip most caches on the way out and pick up more on the way back if I had time. Replaced any wet or tatty log sheets with fresh waterproof paper if needed. Mission accomplished at Bulwer and heading back slowly to civilisation via French Pass.
Finally on the way back to Blenheim. My last stop for the day as the sun is now low in the sky and I still have a long drive to reach Rai Valley even before I travel back to Blenheim. Nice easy find in second place checked. Signed the logbook and returned the cache where found. Thanks Kiwi-Nomad for the cache. Weird red-orange sun this time of day - smoke from Australia?
Happy palindrome day! 02-02-2020 is the first global palindrome date since 11-11-1111 (909 years ago).

Found with mangoambs on a sunny but windy day while on holiday in the sounds. TFTC
On our way back to French Pass from spending the day at Elaine Bay. A beautiful view but boy oh boy is it windy!!! TFTC
We are in our 2nd week of our NZ motorhoming adventure. After exploring Abel Tasman NP we are now on our way to French Pass. We spent today travelling and sight seeing enjoying the beautiful scenery.
This was a great spot to stop and enjoy the view. We left a pathtag.
Thank you for the cache.

Quick find after stopping for a photo and noticed a nearby cache so a quick wander and cache was soon in hand.
Neat location. Stunning views. Great history, especially with the grave up the hill. Tftc
Spent a little time looking around the area and saw another person was remembered in the area as well, A well appointed cache for a man that contributed to the road that allowed us to have a lovely weekend in French Pass, TFTC
A quick find on the way out from French Pass.
An interesting memorial recording the history of the road which TregearP and I were unaware of.
All in good order, signed log and replaced as found. Thanks for the cache.

We are camping at Okiwi bay for 2 nights. We are going to French pass for the day in between (today). Got this one On the way to French Pass. There are great views from here! I'm so glad I got this one on the way there because It was very cold and there was a cold wind on the return trip. We were driving through the clouds. And there was no view at all. TFTC.
This long weekend Jojo and I headed off to French Pass for a spot of caching and camping. 3 days, great weather and some stunning views. Sorry for the cut and past bit, and thanks to all cache owners.
Day three: It dawned bright and the dew on the tent evaporated pretty quick, allowing us to pack up and start the journey home pretty early. But not far from the Bulwer turnoff the fog came in, so it was lights on all the way to Rai Valley.
The target today was anything north of Okiwi Bay we hadn't already got, excluding Penzance, as we will do these later. A couple of DNFs but altogether pretty successful, and the weather cleared on the Marlborough side of Rai Valley.
Very windy at this spot, it was hats off time before you lost it for good. Nice to read up on Harry, and thanks for the cache K-N.

Found on the return trip, to many muggles here on the way through , Awsome spot with views to match Thanx4tc
The plan for today was to make the most of the few days off work that have been mandated and also make my way (finally) over to French Pass area. I'd always thought it was much further to the end of the road but after consulting road signs and Uncle Google it turns out it's nice and accessible so a plan was hatched, again, for some caching. Also thrown in the mix was some camping at the DOC site in French Pass and a kayak strapped to the roof for some sea paddling and general relaxing along with daughter.
What wasn't planned was the weather on New Years Day. Howling winds and gusts transposed themselves on the higher elevation on the way to French Pass and a stop for a cache, and check on the kayak's security resulted in four cars-worth of people struggling in the howling wind to tie it back onto the roof-bars securely enough to continue onwards. We ended up arriving at the campsite, after a few caches, looking at the spot and weather options and beating a retreat back to the comfort of home. I gave up my sole camp-site to some visiting tourists who had no options, so a good deed of sorts too. The weather over the tops was thick cloud/mist and visibility was around 50 metres for a lot of the journey, so sadly not the great views I was hoping for. Anyway, I know the roads a bit better now, and how to attach a kayak better! so will be back for another go another time, including the road to/from Bulwer.
The wind was so strong here I had to battle to open the car door and was extra careful with the log, cache and probably the rock with the plaque on top. Wind was absolutely crazy at this point

The breeze was starting to get up again, so we didn't hang around here too ling as we were still dressed lightly, but great views and an easy find tftc
The sun is slowly sinking, but we are determined to use every bit of light to grab every cache we can. A cold wind makes a quick find and sign and we are on our way.

Had a great day trip out to French Pass. Stopped here and just enjoyed the excellent views. Great place!
Quick grab in a beautiful spot (probably) as surrounded by low mist. Grabbed the travel bug. Thanks for the cache.
Wow, what a view. We startest on the road in clouds and had sunshine when we arrived on this spot. Wow! Windy up here ^^ Thanks for the cache!
Wow! Fabulous views in all directions. Interesting plaque and to read that it's been just over 50 years since there was road access put through to here. Must have been so isolated before then.
We were tempted to stop here and have our lunch as there was a picnic table but there was a cool wind and we decided to carry on to French Pass. I have a fear of heights so found the road very scarey, so StreetWalker drove from here to French Pass then onto Bulwer. That was a long trip. TFTC.

#9508. We made extensive use of the road network in the are over the weekend; it's quite a feat! TFTC.
[green] Hired a car to tour the French Pass peninsula. Drove out here last night and camped out (i.e., slept in the car) at the start of the track to this cache. Saw 4 possums on the road to here, alas I missed them all, and got woken overnight by a weka scratching around.
After going out first thing and finding Old Road or Farm Track? and returning back to the car at dawn, I sow this regolith sitting here. Perfect place for a cache, so I hunted around and wasn't surprised to find a cache here. Next job - out with the gps. Which cache had I found? I was so wrapped up in the F T F on Old Road that I never look at what else might be around! Photos to post up ...

Actually found this one some time last month, forgot to log. Very windy today, was nice over on D'Urville though TFTC
One of a few drive by caches we picked up on the way out to the Bluwer Driveby. We stopped at some nice spots with great views. The road was narrow and rough in places and the logging trucks certainly zip about the place. A few hazards with sheep and one deer. Quick finds. We completed the signing duties and re hid. TFTC

Magnificient views from here today. The white water of the pass was easily seen. I'd noticed this feature on the way in this morning and thought there must be a cache there so wasn't surprised to see the GPS counting down toward it. TFTc #6182
Apologies for the extremely late logging!!
You would not believe, or you probably would given you are a long time cacher , that we found this one purely on the 'Looks like a place there should be a cache' policy. Just drove out this way for a nosey, no plans to cache, no GPS, just stopped to look at the scenery. Annie went 'hmmmm', PB looked one place, she looked another and there it was.
Is written in our notes as 'Memorial Picnic Ground' and this sounds like the right one. TFTC

I havent been out this way for years. We used to spend our Christmas holidays camping at French Pass when I was a kid. I'd forgotten how great the views are from the road. We didnt hang around here to long as a cool wind was picking up. TFTC

A quick find on the way to French Pass this morning. Beautiful weather and views to match. I see there is a grave headstone a bit further up too, but for a different person. Signed log, TFTC
A perfectly beautiful day for a trip to French Pass. Fantastic views from many places but came back here for lunch.
Quick easy drive-by on caching trip to French Pass. It's a wonder anything can stand up around here with the strength of the wind today! Thanks Harry for putting the road here so that we can cache along it. TFTC.
After losing the dog down the hill and C having to rescue him, cache quickly found. TFTC
Windy here today so only had a quick look. Didn't go all the way to French pass
Beautiful day but unfortunately, wrecked Harrys foundations and could not find this one. Shouls have been obvious, but no luck today. Not that many hiding holes so may have blown away as can get exytemely windy here.
2.45pm. Bit windy here but a great view towards the Pass. Brought back flying memories for Mr JF who many years ago flew across the Sounds through French Pass to Nelson. Cache found quickly but getting a little shelter to write the log was more difficult.

The day began rainy and cloudy but nevertheless I started a tour for geocaching this morning. From Nelson to the French Pass and up to Haveloc the way led me. Along there were a lot of great caches showing nice places and making this day a lot of fun with wet feet. Thanks to all owners for making this experience possible!

Fascinating piece of local history. Thanks for causing us to stop and read-up. TNLN. TFTC.
One of 10 finds today on a trip to Bulwer and French Pass, mainly to complete requirements for BGSc 301 but also just because we could! Hazedarus had to concentrate on driving while I selfishly soaked up the vistas on what turned out to be a long day. We were very lucky not to be bothered too much by wind but this spot was an exception, the wind being so strong and icy we didn't take the time to absorb all the area had to offer. Even sheltering behind the rock wasn't going to cut it so with everything firmly anchored the log was quickly signed and a speedy retreat made back to the car. Thank you for this cache.
Today was the day. Up at the crack of dawn for an expedition caching with Holymu. Bright sun and slight breeze we thought but cutting through multiple layers with ferocity when we ventured in exposed places and worst at "Harry's House". At GZ coords proved spot on and the cache was soon in hand and log signed. It was a good caching day that brought us to places that many people only dream of. TFTC
A quick drive by and photo stop on our way back out from French Pass after a seal swim
