It is not worth the effort that goes into making a cache, just to have it taken. So, into the Archives it goes. [xx(]
Yet another cache has been taken. It seems like if a cache is interesting or uniquely constructed some people think they have every right to take it. As this is 6 out of 10 caches of mine that have gone missing I will think about what to do next [:(!]
I clambered up the hill, way too steep and rocky for me, but I did reach GZ and searched there and for quite a way around without seeing anything, and not really sure what I was looking for. Gave up after several near falls, my balance is not what it used to be.
Not Found. I searched but to no avail. Excellent place however and well worth the visit. Thanks Havago.
Found whilst out this way for work. took a break in the rest area and spent a little longer then i wanted trying to find it and therefore didn't have enough time to answer the nearby earth cache questions. so will have to return another day to log the earth cache. TFTC
Day 76 of my trip to Brisbane.
Fourth day on the road, destination Mudgee. I'm having a shortish driving day, to see what I can see, do some caches as I go, and get in some walking with the GeoSchnauzers. It turned out to quite an interesting day, with an earthcache I hadn't noticed collecting our interest for over an hour, and a nice drive in th countryside to boot. There was some great scenery in places. I'm a bit late with the logging, I'm home now, and have five days of caching to log. Have I made 1000 caches on the trip? Today's ten gets me to 935.
No 3 of 10 today. Thanks, Havago. Thanks for bring us here, it's great!! We wandered around the earth cache, then came looking for this one. We talked to the frequently-appearing muggles, in car loads, wandered up for close looks at the columns, and then looked for this cache. Great location, and nice views. The cunning cache was located fairly easily, good hide and clue.

We visited this spot a few times before geocaching, usually on return trips from the far west. Today, we stopped near the columns and I proceeded to follow the GPS, up the steep side and over the top. If only I'd walked around the bottom first, I could have taken the easy route. Anyway, found the colorful, and not too small, container right where the GPS said it would be. Signed, rehid and took the easy way back down.
Thanks again Havago.
Thanks again Havago.
Holy Moley what a hike! My old knees had a hard time but it felt like an accomplishment. Fab view and cool hiding spot and container. Was a quick find upon reaching GZ. TFTC
First cache for our trip to Lighting Ridge.
We stopped here on the way home from one of the June LWE events that were once held in Dubbo and found a cache here years ago. We decided this was a perfect spot for our lunch break on the way from Gosford to Mendooran.
The cache was located quite quickly once we had followed the goat track up the hill.
Thanks Havago.

Wow, these are absolutely stunning! With no signs pointing the way, make sure you head all the way down the turn off to see these magnificent rocks! And don't attemot the cache without some decent shoes on! I climbed up the hill, wasn't sure if I would find this one until I caught a shiny glimpse! TFTC!
beautiful little break to the drive, good breath of fresh air for the family and a leg stretch.
amenities very handy also.

On Friday while MVMB was able to grab this I had to rush and use the facilities, and with a way to go still I was planning on getting this one on the way home. Just wish I knew there was an Earthcache 'next door'. 1605, GAFF1 find after getting a GCA virtual and a trig. We had a great weekend hike and it was GREAT to get this one which I think I passed on the way to the OzMega a couple of months ago.
While there is an o-ring on the container it is starting to perish already. Good coordinates.
Will add a book mark for the Challenging Cache elective - still quite a few to go there!

We still had quite a way to go to the campsite but a cache a day keeps me going.
Using a headlight I carefully made my way up and around, and soon found the cache.

Thanks for getting us to stop off here for a break. We heeded the advice and approaching from the "correct" direction had a quick find. We liked the story about the resident rodent. - hopefully the idea employed to secrete this new cache container might fool Mr Rat and give it a long life. It deserves it's first favorite Point.
After hunting at Nymagee we stopped by for our 3rd cache. Found it after getting a hefty amount of burrs in our pants and socks, even the pooch needed a deburr. Very sneaky cache.
We have returned from Canada to discover a few more Australian caches! What a great way to explore the "land down under."
Good place to stop & stretch the legs. Took a photo of the rocks.... interesting... then hiked up from the front to the cache. Bush was very wet today after the heavy rain last night.
Thanks for the fun Havago!

Had a bit of a hunt, conditions were not ideal with a bloody huge thunderstorm hovering nearby, providing the soundtrack and the occasional wetness. Approached from the 4.5 side just for entertainment value... But alas 10mins of poking around did not yield a bison tube [:(!] better luck next time!
Didn't have time for a huge long look as I was already falling behind on my trip (that tends to happen when you cache along the way). But probably spent 10 minutes up the top looking around for it with no success. Too many rocks it could be hanging from maybe. Thanks Havago, one day I will be back with more time and also be able to have a go at the earthcache.
On our way Dubbo To Morpeth.
This was found by hubby while I collected information for the earth cache.
We have camped overnight here before on a trip to Dubbo
Worth a favourite point
Thanks for placing this cache Havago

Thanks for the hint on which side to approach from - I imagine this could be much harder when tackled from a different side. Geo 3 yr old and I found this one while geohubster waited at the bottom with our toddler. TFTC
TFTC and thank you for the great location. Caches like this make it a worthwhile activity.

On a road trip to the north-west part of the state. Stopped here on our way to overnight in Coonabarabran. Did the climb and arrived at GZ. Moved a rock and there it was!! This is a really interesting [lace to stop. Thanks Havego for placing this cache.

Found ya, After doing the mountian goat thing it was a quick find, Thanks for the hunt.
On the road through to Muswelbrook and Singleton. The rocks are so impressive that they could have warranted an Earth Cache. Quite a scramble but good cache.

found with Harrowang. Doing a road trip thanks for the revive and survive break.
#1420 We had the right footwear, just had to allow for the humidity! Must admit we were happy to do this one in today's 27 degree heat rather than yesterday's 44-48 degree heat! The grass has dried off to allow for easy snake sightings ( of which there were nil). Tried the terrain 4.5 rating before finding an easier path to GZ. Continuing on Day 1 of our Record Break NSW Trip with beatiebrooks. Found at 12.20pm. Now to make tracks to have lunch with rellies in Merriwa area. Beatiebrooks had the unsafe OH &S thongs on so she stayed with the geoHilux while the harrowang's made the find. TFTC havago

Stopped in Merriwa for a break from driving and a coffee. Looked to see if there were any local caches and this one turned out to be the nearest. Great view from the top (but still no cell phone coverage - sigh!) TFTC
The wait a while prickles did a good job, took a while to find the cache and get rid of prickles but log was signed and replaced. TFTC How can this cache ever be muggled?
I had to convert one of my caches into a micro as it kept running away or that is what I rekon and the number of people that whinge, 'Let Me Tell You'.
Anyway thanks for this cache mate, Acko

Tell ya wat.....took me longer then expected cause I climbed the battery rock only to realize 30min lata it on the otha side of hill.....great hide tftc signed name
Dropped in for this one one the way to Coona for the weekend. A bit of a climb involved and on reaching GZ it was quickly found. Thanks for the fun Havago
nice hide. tested the skills of the kids. go the farmers friends. no Aussie bush is complete with out them
ARGHHHHH.... didnt find it. after trapsing around in long wet grass for what seemed forever, with no phone service to read clues again, nav man telling me i was on the wrong side of the road, a bird laughing at me and a roo trying to join me i gave up for now. We will try again on our return trip.
Found it wbat a scramble. Followed by an hour of prickle removal
We probably climbed to this cache through the longest prickliest route possible so after caching duties were completed it was straight back down the hill for 10 minutes of de-burring.
Thanks for the cache
Thanks for the cache
We drove into the carpark to be confronted with what can only be described as an orally fixated lady on her knees next to the driver side door. I guess when the urge takes you, you simply must pull over for safety sake....
So, after a grass seed and burr infested climb to the top of a hill and a slight descent, the cache was found easily., the duo below had finally left so we descended the hill by a different route.
Cheers

Gee did I go the long way, the distance didnt look so bad but it was vertical, I started around the back to avoid the muggles out the front. Was quite a hike straight up thats for sure.
Nicely hidden TFTC
Trying to get a friend hooked on this on our trip!

Out with the geo grand kids today. They make it look easy clambering around the rocks whilst this 70 year old tries to catch up. They made it to GZ as I puffed and blowed nearby.

First impressions are misleading, but when you follow the road around the back of the terrain you find out why this place is worth a stop. There is also a reasonable picnic table and on our visit a full creek at hand. We took the easier option to reach the cache and found it to be a cunning hide. There is almost no chance this one will ever be muggled. Great cache, great stop, thanks Havago.
Found it quickly took the long way up found the short way down nice view up the top
This was the third of 10 caches I found on my weekend visit to Coonabarrabran and the last one that I did in socks and thongs.
There were a few muggles at the rest stop, and I wasn't sure if I'd be able to get this one.
But I drove right around to the back of the rest area and enjoyed the views of the cache's namesake.
Very interesting formation.
I did the scramble and quickly located the cache right where it was supposed to be.
Thanks for sharing this interesting location.

Found my way to Battery Rocks having been here before with Mrs Chippyroo, she was studying the formation because of her geological background. Arrived at GZ opened the cache but my stupid pen stopped working. I left 6 small holes in the log sheet (sorry) and also took a photo for cache owner as proof. Thanks, an excellent cache in an interesting location
A really sad state of a rest area: Overflowing garbage bins, several without lids, and rubbish everywhere. Not really enjoyable having lunch here.
On the positive side: a clever cache.

This is our 4447th overall find.
Found at about 12:51 PM. After visiting customers in Muswellbrook and Merriwa, normally I just rush back to the office, scoffing my lunch in the car, today I thought I'd be a but different. I pulled in here and had a relax. I ate my lunch in peace and then took a short walk to the top for a quick find. The rocks certainly are impressive here.
Thanks to Havago for placing this cache here and giving me an excuse to pull up and have a break from the daily grind..

7th and final find for today. The battery rocks were amazing! They just looked magnificent! I do not suggest climbing up the rocks because we did and they turned out to be very tricky and steeper than we had thought. Cache was one of most cleverly hidden caches I've seen. Very impressed. TFTC!
we have stopped here for a rest B.C. (before caching) and would never have even thought there would be a "hidden treasure" here. Today we returned and found what was hidden here right over our heads. great tricky, cleaver hide. Thanks Havago for showing us your hide.
When I saw where the arrow on the GPS was pointing I thought we are they always up there. Up I went and followed the arrow to GZ and ah look at all those possibilities. Luckily the Geogods were smiling on me as I spotted something amiss straight away and found the cache under the second one I checked. Can't see this one being Muggled to quickly and I expect it may give a few caches a bit of head scratching but persevere its there
If you drive all the way to the end of the dirt track there is a brilliant view of the rocks and worth checking out, although I would not attempt GZ from here

Picked this one up on our way out to Dubbo. Found the old cache a few years ago after much searching. This hide is a lot easier! Still enjoy stopping off at this place on our way through. TFTC
First to finds are a lot harder around home but this is my third around these parts. There was another cache here a few years ago which I never was able to find - back then I was hanging off the formation about three quarters of the way up looking for it when a mini-bus came around the corner and sprung me. No muggles this time though and the current cache was easily found. Many thanks.
Its fun Caching in the rain.
Tried for at least 90 mins. No luck.
The GPS coord. put me in the next paddock! Even scaled two rocky hills still no luck.....
Not a complete lost - the T bone and Tooheys Old at Merriwa RSL was excellent!!!
