Sadly, I'm archiving this cache. While I occasionally get out here (usually 2 or 3 times a year), I usually either forget to check on this cache or am too busy with other things to do so.
Additionally, this location has been problematic in a variety of ways. Time to call it a day for this cache.

This geocacher reported that this geocache should be archived. A community volunteer reviewer has been notified.
Went to confirm this one was living up to its history of being a cache that should be easy to find, but often is elusive ... but it does seem to be gone.
Disabling it while I decide how I want to proceed with this one.

Found in car park has been smuggled, near bollard put it back at flax bush next to bridge as per coordinates. Everything intact although lid was on the other side of carpark and log little wet dried it best we could
Found during our 'big day out' Easter one-dayer taking in Wairarapa backroads mostly previously unvisited.
It was a perfect day. While you could get the hint of autumn in the rural setting, at times it was more like summer and topped 25 degrees at one point. The long, long golden summer.
Ah Riversdale. I've never visited here before, so enjoyed taking in the sights and looking around. The beach and the ocean looked glorious on this fine sunny day.
The cache find was straightforward - sort of (although not where either GZ or the hint clues would have had us looking!), and all in order. Log signed; cache then safely re-hidden, just as found.
TFTC found with team cacher Sweet P too
The Turtle strikes again!

this one was about 10m away from where the coordinates were, and the clue made no sense whatsoever - think it has been moved, but placed it back where I found it. Close by a car park bollard. TFTC
Tftc! Took my cousins (6 and 9yo) on their first geocaching adventure - their first find!
23 January 2016 16:19. Took me a while to locate, my phone had the coordinates 11 m out today, and the hint makes little sense. Take previous logs as a better guide. Now off to get a well earned cup of tea. TFTC
found and introduced another family into the world of geocaching. dropped a travel bug off. TFTC
found using previous logs as hint doesnt match where cache was found left a tb aroha and happy caching
I could see this cache easily enough despite it being somewhere that did not match my interpretation of the hints. However, getting to it was a different story and it certainly wasn't a terrain 1.5 for somebody who is not nearly as agile as he once was. I wouldn't have bothered trying if there had have been other people about. As it was, a vehicle arrived just after I had returned back from doing something that would have looked rather suspicious.
I gave some thought as to where the cache most likely should been but in the end decided it was probably better to leave it close to where I found it but just not so likely to be noticed by passers by.

Thanks to previous finders. I widened my search. To another plot as it was called in a northerly direction and not beside the stream- in fact I found the sign very helpful......thanks for the cache.
I never knew this beach existed, or that the community was so big. The cache is not in the thoroughly trashed flax in the next plot.
Time to head home, Martinborough is a nice place to break the journey, with day trip to Riversdale Beach.
Thanks for the hide.

Don't think the hint helped much, but found it after a short search.
Had to be wary of muggles around though.

A plan was hatched for another extreme, fly down, drive back caching weekend. funkymunkyzone, alpenmilch80 and myself flew down to Wellington on the first flight Saturday morning. We met up with vista at Petone in the Toyota Yaris rental car, as he'd flown down the previous day. We headed straight out of town and made a beeline for the start of our route at Featherston. We zig zagged our way through Wairarapa, Manawatu, Wanganui and Taranaki on our way back home to Auckland. To save time and log space, we stamped the logs as "Team AMFV".
Our 1500km / 40 hour drive consisted mainly of narrow gravel roads, some of which had spectacular scenery and views. Sorry for the copy/paste logs as its now all abit of a blur having only a few short naps in between. Many thanks to all the cache owners who have placed caches for us to find on another epic little adventure.
This one took abit of searching and deciphering of the hint to make the find. The coordinates are good though as we just needed to make a thorough search of the item before finding. Nice to see a regular sized container for a change. TFTC!

mike-miss, funkymunkyzone, vistra and I met early Saturday morning for a two-day-geocaching-trip and once we collected the smallest relocation car available (a green camouflaged Yaris) we were on our way. funkymunkyzone already descripted the route we took in detail and I am still very impressed how he managed mostly the driving without getting lost a single time. Clearly he has his own Topo map in his head . This was a great team effort and I enjoyed the groups spirits and its laughs along the way till the sleep finally got me after the last cache in Taranaki.
In total I collected with the "Team AMFV" 278 smiles along the way and the word "brace" is no longer foreign to me. I would like to give a big thanks to Skindo and all the other cache owners for all the placements along our tour and hope I don’t annoy too much with the copy and paste logs. TFTC

This cache was found as part of a marathon weekend of geocaching with alpenmilch80, mike-miss and funkymunkyzone - aka "Team AMFV" It was a full on weekend of non-stop caching, mostly on windy gravel Wairarapa roads!
I had flown down to Wellington on Friday, then met up with the others first thing Saturday morning. We loaded up a Toyota Yaris rental car, then slowly made our way back up to Auckland, arriving late on Sunday night! The poor little car certainly got put through a lot!
It was an incredibly long and tiring weekend, but great fun at the same time, with a great group of cachers! All up I found 250 new caches over the weekend and revisited a few that I had found before. Sorry for the copy and paste logs, but the weekend is already a blur! TFTC!!

Another fly-down-drive-back-caching weekend, this time in the company of mike-miss, alpenmilch80 and vistra. Three of us flew down very early on Saturday morning and met up with the other who had flown down the previous day. We headed straight out of Wellington, stopping just once to rendezvous with the other member of the team. We cached our way through the Wairarapa, Manawatu, Wanganui and Taranaki under the moniker "Team AMFV" (google it if you're interested, but it seemed appropriate for our mission).
We headed over the Rimutakas and started off with a loop of Lake Ferry before heading north and out into the back blocks.By the evening we were up around Masterton and heading back out into the sticks, criss-crossing Route 52 picking up cache finds along crazy little roads, the craziest of which were around Pongaroa, from where we headed back down and across to SH2 just north of Eketahuna, coming over the insane hills at Pori just after dawn. Spectacular.
We all piled into our little Toyota Yaris rental car, which had probably never seen such terrain before in its life, judging by the amount of clanging of metal on stones, and scraping of underbody on metal road centre. All part of the fun though, and nothing like taking 40.5 hours (with basically no sleep), over 1500km, to get from Wellington to Auckland, stopping at 288 caches along the way - 173 on Saturday and 115 on Sunday. I enjoy driving long distances, so I drove for about the first 25 hours plus a few more hours later on Sunday - also because I had designed the route so I knew fairly well the way we were going, and this time we made no mistakes!
Sorry for the largely copy/paste logs, but it's hard work remembering all the different caches. Some stood out from the others but we enjoyed every single one of them and were thankful for every single placement along the way. This trip, and the company, was fantastic and a fun but shatteringly tiring weekend.
What a lovely little sleepy beach community, and a great beach it is too. Never been here before!

Noticed that this cache had been checked out by the CO recently, so thought we'd give it another go. It still took us a while to track down.
The best approach is to
1. Ignore hint 1
2. Ignore hint 2 (though it is by a synk).
Good to turn a DNF into a smiley. TFTC.

#7326. After our DNF last June, I didn't think we'd be back for another look any time soon. We didn't plan to come to Riversdale today. However, after doing the Kaiwhata trail, we figured it would be an easier drive to come back via Riversdale. We hadn't enjoyed our search last time round, but with a couple of owner checks we thought we'd brave the swag of DNFs and have another look. We puzzled over both hints. Searched the obvious (fenced) area (which is very exposed) but couldn't track it down. Eventually I widened the search area, poking vigourously with my walking pole. Eventually it struck something that sounded promising. But the foliage was so dense it took got a lot more poking to confirm I had located the cache. First find in over 18 months! A nice way to finish our day spent getting to 1000 skindo finds. TFTC.
Sorry we didn't find it as well. We think that the cache is maybe under the old leaves?!
Revised additional clue to bring it into line with current reality. Sorry - looks like cache had been moved a bit and I hadn't realised the additional clue was out of date. (Unfortunately, some cachers aren't diligent in returning caches to the location they retrieved them from.)
Confirmed that the cache is still there - found it almost exactly where I expected it to be.

Spent a decent time looking (with many muggle interruptions). The spot that best fitted the hint was a wee way away from GZ, but we couldn't find the cache there, or under any of the other flax bushes we searched.
Wished I had read previous logs before today's outing to Riversdale. It looks like the hide might be more cunning than expected, especially judging from the pattern of finds then DNFs then finds again.
GZ was identified on the GPS to zero metres and it would have been the perfect time to have a more thorough search with no-one around. However, with any luck the disappointment is only temporary.
We parked and had our lunch at this end of the esplanade, supplemented with a scoop of chips from the store. We agree with YuGeo4, they really are yummy.

Had a good look around Lovely lovely spot though - our first time to Riversdale Beach. We plan to be back!
Took us awhile to find this one as it was well hidden and gps was having some issues for awhile. Found with danielle:-) and lillianavess. TFTC

After a bit of a search I found the cache hidden near where I expected. A good sized cache. TFTC
At GZ it looks like the council has been laying new drainage or pipes and a lot od bushes have had dirt & gravel thrown into them. We could not find this cache and thought this may have been the cause. Just thought I would let you know. Thanks.
DNF around where the GPS was pointing us to. Perhaps we should have widened the area?
Lovely big cache. Great beach, thoroughly enjoyed our visit. Took T/B and left 2 T/B. TFTC
Didn't have too high hopes on this one with the obvious recent work in the area and from reading the previous logs, but a pretty quick find and nice to see a really big cache.

Drove to the end of Blue Pacific Parade passing some very nice houses along the way. Followed the GPS to a large specimen of the hint item but found the cache quickly and easily right at the front of the plant. Thanks for showing us this area.

Like others Harekeke is not our favourite hiding place. Looked thouroughly through the two flax bushes on either side of the bridge. The right hand one looked unlikely as the cache could easily wash away. The left hand one only has about four fronds left. All the rest is dead and lying on the ground. I lifted and searched through all the dead leaf litter to no avail.
Out and about for a day's caching in the area with agcnz and yeetrees. We parked up near GZ after a (very)late lunch at the cafe down the road - very yummy. A very quick find, we had it all signed and just put away just seconds before a muggle family arrived back at their car after a stroll along the beach.

Dropped past here on a very enjoyable day's caching trip with -gonefishing- and Yeetrees. Thankfully a very quick find, I'm not a fan of cache placements in this sort of vegetation but this one was easy. I don't think I have been to Riversdale for over 20 years so with the onset of more civilisation it has changed a lot. Signed log, TFTC!
Took a while to find this one as the gps had us midway between three of the clue objects so had to search them all - and guess what, it was the third one of course. TFTC
HurricaneLuke was going here today, so they kindly checked on this for me. Unfortunately, they weren't able to find the original cache, so they left the replacement I gave them (just in case).
Thanks HurricaneLuke!

Find #657. The second 'find' at Riversdale, and the penultimate for the day. Having rendezvoused with Graeme.N prior to setting off on our trip to Riversdale, we picked up some spare caching equipment to reinstate the cache.
Using the map Graeme provided us with of the cache site, we determined where the cache originally was and where it was last found - searching both spots, we found neither, although there was some drainage/piping work around the GZ and soil had been uplifted recently.
So we dropped off the new cache box in the original position - ensuring it was properly and well hidden with what the CO described. A great spot! And our starting point for the 1km walk out to "Riversdale Beach". SL TFTC!

Went to look for this on Saturday (2-7-2011) and didn't find it. Contacted the most recent finder tmann421 to find out where it was when he found it and it sounds like it was about 5-10m away from where it should be.
Have arranged with another geocacher to check on it, relocate it back to where it belongs, and do any necessary maintenance (later this month). If this is successful, I will then re-enable this cache.

Went to our storage unit this evening and after much searching I found my cache making & maintenance box - Phew! Moving house can be sooo inconvenient!
First off - sorry for not having responded sooner, but a bunch of my e-mails were disappearing without me realising it. I have now rectified that problem.
Secondedly - yes, I do intend on doing something about this (and my other currently disabled caches), but haven't been able to get out to this due to family situations and other busy-ness. I hope to have them all sorted by the end of July.

Additionally, I am reasonably confident that this cache is actually still there as this cache has a history of being DNF'ed a lot despite still being there.
Only particularly experienced cachers have DNF'ed it - one of who stated they had difficulty with the clue(s), and the other has a history of DNFing relatively easy to find caches.

This has been out of commission for nearly two months. Is it going to be restored anytime soon?
Found the original but this was gnarly. Plenty of places to reposition for an easier find. Either adjust the rating or reposition the GZ. After a long drive a DNF does nothing for the sense of humour!
On a little trip to the Wairarapa to get some of the new caches and also a few I have been meaning to visit for a while. Took a long search to locate - cache soaked, dried as well as I could. TFTC
It was pretty dark by the time we looked for this one. We were not able to find it by torch light. TFTC
not a find for us today.... looks like the doggy doooooooooo bin has gone, but found the bridge no prob...
After a bit of a search we managed to locate this. Between the Waiiti20 and EU teams, we drained the cache (was full of water - assume that recent flooding had "drowned" the cache). We then had to remove some of the contents including the sodden log. Replaced log with a new one, and thoroughly dried container and bag (thanks to Waiiti20 handkerchief!). Replaced back where found, and hopefully no more high waters for some time. EU crew have retained old log, but sadly it is of little value now. TFTC
Felt like a brick when I picked it up and got excited about all the goodies that might have been left in it. Thought I might have finally found my pot of gold at the end of a rainbow but alas it appears it may have been the remnants of the result of a rainbow. Drained and repaired with the Emvy_us team while explaining to a couple of muggles what we were doing and what Geocaching was all about. Should be okay for the next finder. TFTC.
Wish I'd known you were re-cycling the old log book too, I could of just logged this one without bothering to find it - well, my name was in there already.
But, I'm no one hit Wonder and of course I would of done the honourable thing and look again, which is exactly what I did. A very easy find of course, how could I ever forget the original one, even after 3 years, it was one of those trickier ones that honed what few skills I have today.
And a great one to re-visit, really enjoyed it, thanks for keeping it going.

Tell Pipi and Kina that it felt like the winterless north today, with plenty of sunshine and warm weather on this beautiful calm Saturday in the Wairarapa. After our stop at this nice regular sized cache, we carried on to the Riversdale Beach (GC25N95) cache for a nice long walk and then later down to Blue Pacific Parade for a cuppa. It couldn’t have got any better. Many thanks Graeme.N and Pipi and Kina for the cache.
