358 | 12 November 2024 17:31Awesome to have a look inside of the Hydro Power Plant. TFTC
Unfortunately we did not have time for the loop walk, it was still worth the drive and litle walk. TFTC
Cool to see the hydro power station fully operational! Quick find, thanks for placing a cache here!
Great day out in the sunshine for a birthday treat with family and friends .... fellow geocachers!
Needed the hint for this one Last one for the track - found 4/5 today. Will try the one we missed another time.
On our way to Pūponga for a holiday this week and decided to stop here for the walk and history. Master 11.5 was very impressed. TFTC.
Trouvée rapidement très belle promenade.
But the field notation of 1.5 is misleading.

After the rain of the last few days we wanted to get out somewhere so checked the forecast and this area came up best - fine with a few showers clearing. Boy was that ever wrong, should have been cloudy with showers worsening. Anyway, this was an area we found on the map and decided to explore as we hadn't been here before. We hadn't bought raincoats with us, just fleeces, so they had to double as raincoats today. That worked fine, mostly.
For this first cache, we had to wait for a group of visitors to vacate the viewing room then Andy made the trip to the gz and the cache. Log signed and we were off before anyone else turned up. tftc

The one on the top of the hill we could not get. But this one was found by a sharp look of Mr wurzelknecht. Thanks. The machine was very impressive.
Great spot to visit today.. the work men were there and quite interested to learn all about the box they knew was there but not really what it was for and why. Lovely blokes. Fantastic circuit walk. Tftc. The chikins from Brisbane

I wasn't feeling that great today, so instead of walking to Seperation point we came here instead...it did not disappoint! I loved all history of the walk The weather did not play ball either, so views were not what I would expect on a clear day, but beautiful none the less
Nice quick find, a cool spot.

Found with RG1972. We came here for our walk instead of the original planned one to separation point and were not disappointed. Loved the walk and the historical story. Views were terrible though due to the weather, but you can’t have everything.

TFTC. Sorry to be so late logging this cache. I accidentally had it sitting in my drafts.
Loved this cache and the history. A big fav from me.

A quick find after reading the information and looking at the turbine from the viewing room, thanks Buzztasman.
An instant find with all in good order. Completed at the start of the loop walk which Tregearp and I thoroughly recommend. Thanks BuzzTasman for prompting us to check out this walk.
Got to look inside the power plant because the maintenance man was there. It was cool.
Another found on the last part of our walk on 24/4.
Was a race to get to this one first! After locating, of course we let Master 6 navigate the find

#698. Mr and Mrs Northwood travelled south to visit one of the junior Northwoods and explore the Abel Tasman and Golden Bay areas.
We made a pretty quick find here. All in good order, and a great spot.
Then took the long way around to find the other cache near by. Enjoyed the walk and history.

Nice quick find after the springs walk as I was interested in going to the hydro station and it did not disappoint in the slightest. One more find and I will be joining the 4k finds club. TFTC
Apologies to the CO.I found this cache a while ago but stopped caching for a while due to the pandemic, and this find was left as a draft on my app.Found while on holiday in Golden Bay.TFTC
Found with a group of friends spending 12 days in Motueka and Takaka tramping and biking. Wonderful scenery. TFTC
We stopped in here to do the hydro walk on our way to holiday in Pakawau. A beautiful walk definitely recommend it. And a bonus get a couple of caches. Tftc
Really enjoyed the walk amongst the scenic bush, an amazing race system that we had never visited before, and probably would not have visited if it were not for these caches. Although one of our grandsons came here on a school trip and his class walked around this loop track, so maybe his enthusiasm about it would have inspired us to come and have a look around.
The cache was a nice easy find, the log was signed and all was returned as it was found.
Thank you for placing this cache and thank you for the smiley.

Following the hint was unsuccessful and after some time poking around I decided to leave. But once at the trailhead I reminded myself that I don't give up that easily! Headed back in and did some ducking and sleuthing below deck, and soon I had the cache signed. Lots of rat poo nearby, so make sure to clean your hands well after!
Really impressive piece of engineering and ingenuity. Amazing that it is still being used today. Great hint meant cache soon in hand. Tftc
.Come to check out Pupu Hydro. What an amazing restoration project. It rained overnight so all vegetation wet getting to this one to tag. Now to check out all the info here and look through the viewing window. Cool.
Its Sunday and we are off to Pupu springs before heading home later today.
Its a long weekend to Takaka, with Collingwood and Farewell Spit in the mix, with Zara Toby and Bullertroutss Bro. So lets go exploring. Visited lots of awesome places. But never enough time. I will be back.

This cache was the start of a fascinating walk through history. Cache all in good order thanks!
In this age of big machines we have to admire the tenacity and hard work that many put in to achieve projects like this. Thanks for bringing us here. With kiwitien. TFTC
Great hydro and nice to look through window. Jess went down for this whike ste read info. Said hello to each other here! Tftc easily spotted.
Our third on the southern island! Was hiding underneath the walking path as other visitors were going to the viewing room.
Having a holiday in golden bay we decided to do some local walks. Would highly recommended this one we did the full loop about two hours walking. Was fun following the water along the hill side. Next time I think I’ll bring some little plastic boats to race along the water way. Thanks for the caches we found along the way
So much easier to spot than retrieve. I recommend this trail to adults only. Take it counter clockwise, head toward the water race first.
Nice quick find today on a nice summers day. Last time we were here it was not! TFTC
I found this cache together with my partner Pityulino during our holiday in New Zealand. Today we hiked on the Pupu Walkway and visited Pupu Springs and searched for geocaches on our way. This was one of the caches we searched for and found in good condition. Loved the walk. TFTC!
Down in Nelson for a 10 day holiday and one of our annual big treks in the wilderness somewhere in NZ. Day 3 of our trip and we were off to Collingwood. Had some stops and sights we wanted to see. Got to see this more by chance after reading about it elsewhere. Glad we stopped. As MrJag50 is a Civil Engineer and had a lot of interest, knowledge and history on this type of infrastructure from his early a career he was thrilled to see it.
During my travel month through New Zealand I could find this geocache.

We had the great chance to travel around New Zealand during six weeks and were able to see wonderful cities, landscapes and meet nice Kiwis. While staying in NZ many cache owners gave us the opportunity to search for very well hidden treasures and we thank them very much for preparing and maintaining them.

Found whilst on a wonderful 3 week tour of this beautiful country. Many thanks to the COs for placing caches in great spots to visit and make our holiday even more special.
Family outing with JegsBigg to celebrate the old boys birthday. Great spot to explore and go for a walk while grabbing some caches along the way. An easy find thanks to the clue.TFTC
I have wanted to come and find this cache for ages but never seemed to take the time to come that bit further up the road. So pleased to finally have made the effort today. Had a look inside before going to find the cache. No worries with the find and just in the nick of time as it was precariously hanging over the edge. Left with a rock on top to keep it in place. Thanks so much for bringing me up here BuzzTasman and a big hats off to the locals who restored it. TFTC #9744
