A wet walk today to find this one. Bush was a bit slippery so managed to slip over. Zayn 2016 had the eagle eyes to find the cache. Lovely bush here. Cache is rather wet. Sorry didn’t have supplies to fix it. Thanks for the adventure into new territory
Nice walk, passed through this area many times just never stopped. Didn't bring a replacement log so still needs attention. Tftc
Passed through this are so many times, just never stopped and grabbed the cache before now. A nice stroll to GZ. Didn’t have a replacement log. Tftc
A nice stop for lunch, and a short wander through the Bush and it was easily found. Docs all wet. Could not sign
Nice walk, easy find. the area obviously flooded recently, the log book is soaked so couldn't write on it. Great spot though
Thanks for your amazing cache. I really appreciate the time you took to set up and maintain your caches.

Decided to find this drop into this reserve, while travelling up to Taihape. Eventually located after using my phone. Had a fan tail follow me through the bush. Lots of loose branches around with Cyclone Dovi passing through in the weekend. The cache was little water, stayed in this spot for 20 minutes and tried to dry the container and contents in the sun. Thanks for the cache.
Thanks angela&ian for placing this cache
We took a short walk along this trail in November
It was a bit overgrown but once on track we were able to locate GZ

After a loop up through Palmerston North, Fielding and up to Vinegar hill headed back onto Highway 1. Soon made a detour off again and after visiting the cemetery just up the road headed back to Simpsons Reserve. The bridge is now gated at the entrance because unsafe so walked in. Was expecting a track through the bus but never spotted so decided to try my luck and dived in. Quickly grabbed. Able to claim 412m towards the DGSC distance challenge. Thanks for the cache.
Had the day off work and Mrs Rubbishparty visiting for the school holidays so headed out towards Hunterville for some caching. Thanks for another lovely scenic reserve. Took a rather wet route to the cache and then realised there was a much more direct dry path. No problems finding the cache. The log is rather damp and soft. Could do with some TLC. Thanks for the smiley.
I am such a fan of this CO’s caches. They never fail to take us somewhere completely unique that I’ve never been too before. This cache is no exception.
The boys and I arrived early to beat the sun. We made it through the bush nice and easy through the well worn path. Once at GZ I soon spotted the cache!
Signed the log and on our way again. Got a bit wet up to the knees from the grass but it was worth it.
FP awarded because of the awesome spot. TFTC angela&ian!

#12,033. A short bush walk in Hunterville. GZ was all quiet at the time of our visit. Found after a bit of searching. The exact spot was not quite as described in the additional hints, but well-hidden within a metre of where indicated. The cache was in good condition even though not in the plastic bags as noted. It was also a little bigger than the expected “small” size (a 1.2 litre sistema container, no less). It was a little damp inside, but the logbook was still ok to sign. Took nothing, left nothing, signed log.
Replaced where found.

Hello New Zealand again! its my third time here in this beautiful country! On my tour, I visited so many nice places and enjoyed so many nice views.. and I found many nice geocaches! Thank you!

Road trip to Manawatu this weekend.
Started out with four of us going then someone bailed a few hours before we were due to leave.
Collected NZ Flossy, arrived in Rotorua to collect the Squirrel who had misread info, thinking we were going for the day only so quick change, more clothes gathered and off south we went.
Plan was to start about Waiouru and see how far we could get before stopping for the night.
We travelled roads that none of us had being on before. Lots of different caches, some that hadn't been found for over a year and a couple that had DNF's but we found and even one that we had to turn into Spiderman to collect.
Great first day and stopped in Marton for the night which is an interesting town. SLTFTC

With Gap (of Fap and Gap), and NZFlossy... Heading South and hoping to get a big jump on the Mythical Creatures souvenirs.
There had been some talk of a mission into the Manawatu-Wanganui Region during the week. I hadn't paid much attention to any of the planning conversations, and only discovered this morning that this was going to be an overnight trip. I had to hurriedly pack a few things... The beauty of travelling a long distance is that you can spend a lot of time chatting... that definitely helps to pass the time away. The problem for us is that we have cleared most of the driving route of caches, so our first stop was in Waiouru - 2.5 hours away from home...
We presume the area has grown in a lot since this cache was placed. We had to navigate our way carefully through the trees and out to the other side. A quick find once the hint was spotted. TFTC.

On a road trip with Gap (Of Fap and Gap) and squirrel nutcase heading south for them to get some new caches. I haven't done anywhere as many as them so I got a few extra picking up ones they already had. I have never been out this way before and loved the beautiful scenery. Good to get out and stretch the legs - no actual track to this one so we just followed the GPS until we spotted the hint item and found the cache. A bit of bush bashing was involved. TFTC
As we pulled into the car park we found exactly what we had been looking for - a picnic table so that spelt lunch!.. Mrs volunteered to make one of her great sandwiches from the food supply..(she clearly was more interested in food at that stage!)while Mr whipped off to find the cache... immediately regretted not bringing camera , spotting some track markers. (currently writing a blog post on track markers)
Found the cache all nice and dry in its little spot but the log is so damp it was pretty much impossible to write on to signed the geo information sheet that was slightly better.
Back to the picnic table for the yummy sandwhich and then back with the camera to take a couple of example shots for the blog..
Jumping in the car and starting the log Mr managed to loose the last 6 logs with an uncharted swipe of the finger( wish i knew what i was doing every time that happened) ... so changed to a safer app and wrote them all again.... lucky this trip we have switched to using and OTC cable to the phone and a normal keyboard - made it an easy 5minute job!
Found this cash in a beautiful morning with chris and nele. The logbook was really wet but the spot was really cool
There are some really big trees in this reserve. Thanks for bringing us here.We followed the hint and soon had the cache in hand. TFTC!
This was my first ever geocache! A short walk from reserve, sort of a track to follow. I have been to this reserve for 21 years and never knew about geocaching!
Found while having a caching trip to the area. Grass and all puddles covered in ice
Had to come up this way (well actually only as far as Bulls - but Hunterville is not that much further is it?!).
We were very pleased we drove on just a little further to here - such a beautiful reserve which we would never otherwise have known about. There were lots of magnificent trees - we tried to imagine what it must have been like when so much of our land was so covered. There was lots of birdsong too - some calls completely new to us. No one else was here - just us, the birds, the trees and the sky with the winter sun gently warming us in the clearing. We accepted the invitation to linger a while.
The track to the cache was easily enough found but it is quite overgrown. The container was lying out in the open so we have concealed it as per the hint. Thanks for bringing us here - gets a favourite for that.

Well what a little hidden gem this place was, I wasn't expecting such a large paddock of grass, I could see how some people could get wet feet if you take the wrong track, we however found the right one and was a quick find, loved the birds, we go bush a bit and don't normally ever get to hear that many birds singing/calling, thanks for the placement dropped a tb
Thanks for the quick find and making us stop at a place we always drive past. The wet feet were worth it!
Finally stopped by thid neat reserve. Usually rush by. Took a few wrong direct tracks then found the officsl one so kept my shoes dry. Tftc
A nice spot to go camping which is probably why when I got to the carpark there was about eight freedom campers in the carpark and paddock - some of whom were still napping. Off over the field, a short bush walk and the cache was in hand - TNLNSL. Thanks for the placement at another nice reserve angela&ian.
Heading north today and changed my plans to go via Hunterville as I noted this cache had not been logged as found for some time. The owner had confirmed (via a recent note) that it was still in place so i thought what the hey. I made the short walk in and spotted the cache from some ten meters away.
Picked up the travel bug and will move it along.
Picked up the travel bug and will move it along.
Checked the cache - still in place, and did a little maintenance of the tracks
DoC has now installed a toilet in the clearing.

I found the obvious spot according to the hint but had no luck locating the cache
My first geocache in NZ on my vacation . Great way for me to learn flora names.
We were heading back from near Turangi to Upper Hutt today and decided to stop off here to check out a potential overnight freedom camping spot for a future trip. Very nice quiet reserve and it would be well sheltered from the wind with all those big trees surrounding the open area. After having a cup of tea at one of the picnic tables I left Mrs B lying down to rest after the drive so far while I went to track down the cache. The long grass had all been mowed by now, but the track to GZ is indeed very bumpy with big tree roots across the path. The cache was spotted immediately as I approached without the need of the hint, so I covered it a little more when I replaced it. TFTC
A really nice spot that DOC should maintain a little more! The grassy paddock was waist high and got me snuffling and sneezing despite already having taken hayfever meds at home. The short bush walk was hard to find the start and end of (youngest member got 'lost'), but is still well marked and was quite pleasant. With a toilet block and a little tlc, it would be a lovely picnic place or camping area. TFTC
As this location is signposted from State Highway One, I was surprised to see the cache hadn't been found since April. After traipsing through the long grass in the wrong direction, we failed to arrive at the track entrance and had to go cross country until we met up with the track. From there, the mission was straight forward with a quick find and a return to the car by way of the correct route. Thanks for bringing us to this spot.
The road was a bit tight on the way out this Monday morning: meeting trucks is scary! Anyway, I had this place to myself except for the magpies in the distance and kereru overhead. This place is pretty. Found cache of good quality easy without hint and did some CITO on the way out. TFTC!
Found on way home to the Waikato.
Found on way home to the Waikato.
find 10/14 with the Puzzlenoid during our Vinegar Hill loop trip.
We put EtherMaster in the off road pushchair and made it over the mowed field easily enough but as soon as we started down the track it was obvious that the tree roots, etc, were going to be too much for the buggy. We abandoned the buggy and carried him (while EtherMiss walked).
!!!WATCH OUT FOR THE PRICKLE VINES!!!
We encountered some long, thin vines across the track and hanging from the trees that had very sharp thorns on them.
Some tried to trip me up, and some tried to surgically remove Master 9month old's ear. He wasn't too impressed

Found with the Etherlord clan. Well, all except the buggy, which had to be abandoned as the track was too bouncy. The wild native wildlife tried to take off with little 9month old Etherlord-in-training's ear, but it was too firmly attached to his head.
Nice easy find, in the area today for caching.
Interesting to see the long drop had tipped over (a while ago by the look)

My first ever Geocache!!! Lovely spot, venetian blind no longer marking the spot, but managed to find it all the same with a bit of hunting around. Great introduction to the Geocaching world!
What a gem of a reserve hidden away back here. A very nice walk and an easy find once I ignored the GPS (either coordinate) and followed the description/hint.

DNF: co-ordinates need updating. Also, it is helpful to state our long the cache should take from entrance to GZ. Out of towners will particularly appreciate this as it tells us how much time we can allot to a cache and whether we attempt it. We were on a schedule and was longer than we though it might be. We will be back when co-ordinates amended. Great spot!
We were on our way north in our relocation camper with the juniors and had read about this spot being a great spot to stay overnight so after an engineering inspection by Big Fuzzy, trundled across the rickety bridge and popped out the other side of the bush to this pretty little clearing . The track to GZ is really overgrown (more like a 2.5 now) but the cache itself is dry with full of lots or goodies. Thanks for showing us this lovely spot angela&ian.

After parking, we spent a few minutes trying to find the track without success. Upon re-checking the helpful cache information we were on our way and quickly found the cache using nzcoozer's coordinates. We enjoyed the magnificent trees. This was a great place to be on a beautifully fine day, thanks angela&ian for bringing us here.

A brilliant location late at night found with the help Gencuster on our way to Wellington, a week off on holiday for me between jobs. A still night and a sky filled with stars, you can hear the calls of the Moreporks and a couple of passing trains. A very close encounter with a tree branch in direct contact with my eyeball, ended the quiet ambiance of the surroundings!! Gencuster logged this for me as I was sightless, sometimes you can't see the tree's for looking even when they are staring you straight in the eye!! Thanks for a great cache in a great location, I will pay this one another visit, just on dusk and enjoy the area as the sun is setting.

A bit of seaching and came up with the cache. A Very nice spot which I had no i-deer was there.
Always pays to be quiet when in the bush, upon reaching the cache spied a wild deer wandering up the fence line. Upon seeing Team Gumboot he very quickly departed.

19:15 Absolutely amazing with no clouds, no lights and just me and the milky way... Please adjust coordinates to the correct values. Cheers, GC
Have seen the sign to the reserve from SHI for years and had this on the list of places to go for sometime so the temptation of a cache to find was too hard to ignore. Didn't want to risk the truck on the bridge so parked at the entrance and walked to the carpark then on to the cache. Quick easy find at the GZ. Thanks for bringing us here
Nice reserve ..little used I would guess.
Quick find and took away a bit of rubbish as a contribition to the upkeep.

Took quite a search with the listed co-ordinates. Bush bashed a little around the area and blundered into a large stinging nettle bush. SL TFTC
We have often seen the sign on the mainroad for this reserve, but never been here so this was a good reason to come. Used nzcoozer's co-ords and found quite quickly with angelic-kiwi and melt'd. TFTC
Interesting walk, thanks for the description of where the track was, wouldn't have noticed there was a track at all from the carpark. Shame this area isn't maintained better. TFTC
We were hoping we'd catch a glimpse of Bart somewhere in the little crop circle in the bush, nice spot, very secluded. The co-ords were about 40m out, but the cache was a quick find with the clue. TFTC.
This is in a magnificent bush park I had no idea existed. This is my favourite type of cache.

Nice tucked away reserve but no bird life to be heard today.
We found co-ords to be out, but that could have been the GPS as it isn't very reliable in the bush

We headed over after a long day at the A&P show so were thankful it was a short walk. I've never enjoyed driving via Vinegar Hill but the destination was worth it. The entrance really doesn't do the reserve justice. We enjoyed our bush walk and the frolicking in the grass area blowing dandelions.
The coords seemed off but we followed the route to a logical place and used the clue to get our 2nd 2TF
