@1440
On my way home from orienteering near Bungendore, I did a few park and grabs in Queanbeyan. No sign of this cache. TFTC.

14-Apr-18
This is impossible. Big spider found. Too much creepy. Would not recommend mate at night in the wet

In the area visiting son Wombats Inc. Easy to find the wombat residences and the prickles mentioned in the hint but the cache was more elusive. A review of the logs reveals that the cache has been moved and the container changed by a cacher, not the cache owner. Therefore all of the information is suspect and probably wrong. If this cache is to survive the details of the cache, the co-ordinates and the hint (if appropriate) need to be updated. If this is not possible the cache should be archived to allow another cacher the opportunity to place another.

Mission aborted when saw a slithering creature near were it wanted me. Maybe another time

16-Jul-17
Thanks for getting this one back up and running. Where is the Bear when you need him hey? TNLNSL TFTC

18-Jun-17
Having seen this cache needing maintenance for so long, thought I might replace it. It is still a black container but contains a log and pen, with room for swaps. I have placed up on the bank in a small hole away from actual wombat hole, which looks active.
Hopefully very close to original hide

05-May-17
Nothing found here - needs to be replaced.

05-Apr-17
GPS was jumping around a bit in here, so searched a wide area, checking out lots of likely hidey holes, with no luck .
With a few DNF's now, maybe CO could check please

07-Sep-16
Nothing...
Should have stopped after a perfect 10 out of 10 today.

26-Apr-16
No luck for me today.

Went with Benura and after a little detour and a walk along the lake Benura found it. TFTC Smile

05-Oct-15
Coords are out by maybe 10 metres, according to my app. Check previous hints then watch where you stick your hand. It's a snakey place.

15ft spiky tree, check. Sheet of metal, check, updated coordinates, check. Cache found

27-Jun-15
Did this one after doing some others in the area. After a bit of searching we found the cache but the coordinates were a little out. The phantom lounge chair logger is back again... No signed log here... Took photo if owner wants to check and delete.

29-Mar-15
About 30min around every direction x( passed a spot earlier that looked weird and I was able to nab but it was 20m out for me... Maybe mr. wombat was tired of the smelly humans at his doorstep and moved the cache...tftc!

Canberra Day 9:00am

Found near updated coordinates (S 35° 23.890 E 149° 11.731). And the clue about the piece of tin helped too Smile.
After seeing a couple of DNFs logged for this one I decided to check the previous logs and they led me in the right direction. There sure are a lot of wombat holes...and I didn't even go to the original GZ.
Its a beautiful morning for a bit of caching. Now I'm off to find "Canberra Hoard". TFTC Mr Macca

30-Dec-14
Nice wombat hole, but no cache.

16-Nov-14
No luck for Hoojar and I here. We did see Clive Palmer's jet fly overhead though!

16-Nov-14
On a trip to Canberra and Queanbeyan to tackles some caches, we were unable to locate this one, despite our best searching efforts.

With logs suggesting that the cache is up to 20m out, we did not persist for too long here in the rain this morning. Maybe a finder could post some corrected coordinates for everyone else to enjoy?

Cheers

10-Oct-14
Harder to find, hiding spot abit dodgy and notebook still quite weathered. Previous comments helped a lot.

10-Oct-14
Spot is out by about 15 mts and needs recalibration

09-Oct-14
No find for me today, it needs the correct coords to be posted.

02-Oct-14
It took a while, and it required a review of all hints and past comments, but the geokids and I got down amongst it and finally found this one. Not easy for us but that's all part of the fun. TFTC.

I've just had brekky with Knightech. We're having a couple of days off. We're going to do a few caches to get over dinner and drinks at Chez Knightech's last night. This one was a walk across the huge roundabout, followed by a quick find. TFTC!! This is my second of five for the day, with help from the logs. Good hide.

#2203 - 17:10; After missing the flash mob event earlier in the day, headed over the border for a few finds later in the afternoon. Decided to grab a couple along the border which I didn't get to last week. After a DNF on a cache in the local series, I headed to this one. Luckily I checked recent logs as I didn't seem to be having much luck. Noting the coords seemed to be about 18 metres out, I got a bit tinny and soon had the cache in hand and the log signed. TFTC Mr Macca Smile

13-Apr-14
GZ had me at the entrance of a massive wombat hole, Aa I loked in I just saw the behind of a wombat wiggling in!! I wasn't invited for tea so I spent my time looking for the goods somewhere else and succeeded about 19 meters away.

I didn't read previous logs - but it seems that the coordinates are significantly out. I'll go back with some knowledge from my geo-daughter who estimated the cache was 18 m away using a Garmin GPS.

Found with JohnnyBoy ACT. Yes it is a bit further 18m from the co-ordinates.

21-Feb-14
This is becoming once a week regular. But at least it gets us up at 5.30am. A caching foray interstate to NSW with Marmaduke Rothschild. Most I've ever seen of Jerrabomberra. Did as many as we could in 3 hours. As in previous logs, GZ is ~18m out. The mention of metal is helpful. TFTC.

15-Feb-14
Found with the help of previous logs and a long stick, way closer to the road than the creek. TFTC.

19-Jan-14
Found with the previous log clues. Tftc.

19-Jan-14
Wombat holes indeed! Didn't want to go sticking my hands into it so was happy to see that the GPS was leading me a short distance from it. I found the cache 13m out and with the help of previous logs. Thanks for bringing us here and TFTC!

04-Jan-14
Coordinates a bit off - the gps was saying we were still 18 metres away when we found this cache. Thanks for those who mentioned the 'metal' clue in the logs - led us straight to it! Smile

03-Jan-14
Took a while to find and a bit hard to access in this spot.

My geoaunt is amazing ! Wowowowowow.

29-Dec-13
Took us a bit of a while. Look for a sheet of metal near a tall tree. TFTC

29-Dec-13
Thanks for my first cache x

02-Nov-13
CO emailed. Container replaced in likely spot, location needs to be checked. No plastic bag for the book or pencil.

02-Nov-13
We hadn't checked previous logs so not put off we headed off, soon to find the log book lying on the ground a bit weathered but ok, and a regular sized clear plastic container and later a lid. We did our best to replace this cache, however the gps wouldn't settle for us so the cache may be out from the original coordinates. We have emailed owner for cache maintenance. Currently the cache is within 6 m of the coordinates in the header ( didn't realise till home and reading old logs that these had been altered) and in what we thought was a fairly logical place for a cache to be placed. Think metal.

3 sets of eyes, good light, took the hint and still couldn't find this cache at its listed location. Got home then read the visit log and noticed the alternate coords - will revisit some time and try these.

24-Aug-13
Had a good look at all the likely spots, but came up empty handed.

17-Aug-13
Today Little dull cloud with cold windy, Accompanied ExplorerClarke... Searched everywhere as no luck for us, thanks Smile

16-Aug-13
couldn't find it with all7

27-Jul-13
This one eluded us for about 20mins before we called it quits. It didn't help that we were being watched by a massive kangaroo that seemed intent to stand his ground. It looks like we'll have to have a second go at this one when we have more time. TFTC.

23-Jun-13
This one took a while! :p best not done at night! Very Happy

04-May-13
Had fun finding this one,

27-Apr-13
Found this one @ 13:15 after completing the Jerra series and being such a fine day we thought we should keep going. Miss Stormcatcher found without a GPS surprising easily...turns out coords were 20m out. This was number 25 for us on our big day out.

Thanks Mr Macca for the cache

14-Apr-13
A quick find using the updated coordinates. TFTC

02-Feb-13
Coords need to be changed follow coords in log

02-Feb-13
30 meters from posted location read logs

02-Feb-13
The official coordinates of this cache need to be updated to the correct ones.

Placing them in the logs means that they will be overlooked

Thanks

With a name like Wombat Holes, I had to find this one.

There was a wombat hole at the posted coordinates, but nothing inside.

Once I had read some of the logs, I noticed that the correct coords were listed.

Not good to have to read the logs to get the right spot - especially true since those logs will disappear from pocket queries.

Anyway, eventually found it

A bit off in the coordinates department, but got it in the end. TFTC

26-Dec-12
Quick find using coordinates provided in logs. Tftc

29-Sep-12
I returned today with the new coordinates [S 35° 23.890 E 149° 11.731] and it was an easy find. The cache was uncovered, possibly by an animal by the amount of poo beside it. I recovered it.
I left a US dollar note, trackable on 'Where's George'.

19-Sep-12
We searched and searched for this, turning over rock after rock. After spending ages at this we had to give up. Then when I get home I read the logs and find the coordinates (hidden in a log entry) have been changed, but not in the header. Disappointing! Please correct this. Twisted

07-May-12
Found it, after searching the old location.

24-Apr-12
We used the coordinates at the top of the cache listing for our gpx file. However we noted later that the coordinates had changed but have not been updated in the header. Could this please be done so that geocachers who download coordinates will get the revised one. Thank you.

24-Apr-12
The eighth day of our excursion out of Tasmania touring from Melbourne to Canberra and return via Gippsland saw a marked change in the weather. Heavy rain in the morning was followed by cold winds, very cold when we didn’t bring the winter woolies. After tracking down some more details for some of the Great Aussie Icon Hunt caches, we cached in Jerrabomberra and later went back into Canberra. At times we got rather wet but that didn’t deter our enthusiasm for caching for the day.

We had originally looked for this cache in the ever increasing rain but did not have any success because, as we found later, the cache had been moved but the coordinates in the cache header had not been updated. We did however come across some large wombat holes, one in particular was the wombat equivalent o the McMansions in the area. We returned later when the rain had stopped. On this occasion the shorter of the 2y'stassies had walked down the creek to Wombat Holes from Canberra Horde and along the way, came across something interesting. It proved to be the cache, about 19m from where our GPS said it should be. Given that the cache had a new log book (and container?) we assumed that the ccache had been moved to avoid floods and that we had the old version of the coordinates in our GPS units. It was just luck and cacher skills for detail that resulted in this being a find for us. TFTC Mr Macca.

16-Apr-12
Maintenance done. New bigger container with spare zip seal bags and a new note pad. Note to future cachers, please be conservative with how much space you use in the pad as I live interstate but have family in Jerra.

16-Apr-12
Co-ords have changed on this Cache. New co-ords are. S 35' 23.890, E 149' 11.731. Moved the cache due to the recent high rainfalls. The cache is a better sealed container.

Wombat Holes? This one should be called Wombat Village. Wink Quick grab during an afternoon caching. Signed log: TNGD. TFTC!

20-Jan-12
Ugh...the prickalies. Logbook was a bit wet but was able to sign. Lots of Wombat holes, spiders and stickers. Key in on your GPS to find the correct GZ.

15-Jan-12
Easy find thanks, lots of prickles though!!
TFTC

16-Nov-11
Took a few passes here and there, but found it within 5m of our gz.
Plenty of holes about too.
Thanks to Mr Macca for something different.

08-Sep-11
Geokid piked and gps was jumpy. Left for another day.

05-Jul-11
Found it but didn't sign it to wet

20-Jun-11
Number 99 was a thorny proposition! Found on my second attempt, along with RedcrowX. The cache is still badly in need of some TLC - the log book is so wet we didn't sign it so much as carved our names into the sodden pages with the pen. TFTC!

19-Jun-11
Last summer's floods certainly left their mark on this place. A fun cache despite some nasty prickles gained during a typical bum first fall. Found while out on a lunch time jaunt with Minifig Ant. TFTC

12-Jun-11
Tried for this one but gave up in frustration after bumbling around, getting stuck by thorns and tripping over rocks.

11-Jun-11
Looked hard and couldn't find it...but it was a beautiful afternoon and we enjoyed the effort : ) Thank you

31-May-11
log book soaking wet

29-May-11
by some luck one of our team , Tealby found it with her magic walking stick after searching some suitable locations, signed our names as best we could given the logbook was soaked thru..
but thanks for the visit

29-May-11
Yukky, yukky again... those soap containers are obviously not much chop as a cache container & we found another sodden mess. The cache IS still there - very well hidden - but my hiking pole came in very handy in locating it. Definitely needs maintenance though. TFTC.

13-Feb-11
Also could not find. With all the debris that has been washed thru here I wouldnt be surprised if it was gone. Maybe the owner could confirm?

20-Jan-11
This ones gone for sure. looks like the water has risen upto five+ meters well past the gz for the cach.

30-Oct-10
I think this one might by washed away since the big rain fall.

16-Oct-10
Easy find - but the container & log book bag were full of water from the recent rain. TNLN - TFTC.
