I wasn't meant to end up here today but I got distracted and ended up in this area and thought it would be a great day to try to redeem this previous DNF...Well all I can say is that my training for my next Camino well and truly began today with a 2.5km hike up hill at a pace of 3kmh oh my glutes were protesting all the way as they still are many hours later as I write this log. The cache was swiftly located...I tried to find the view but didn't feel like bush bashing to the edge..

What a great day for an adventure for a quick cache or two. Expected a rough drive however, this track is not what it was the last time we did it. Has been graded and redirected in places. Quick find here. Thanks Team Crackers

Coordinates changed from:S 37 59.521 E 145 49.926Coordinates changed to:S 37 59.522 E 145 49.967Distance from original: 196.7 feet or 60.0 meters.Out in the area training CrackerGirl in a bit of 4WD and took the opportunity to do some cache maintenance as well. We found the inner container a ways away from GZ, it looks like the ammo containers was stolen. We have now replaced with another ammo tin in a slightly different location. Hopefully this one will last.

Out in the area training CrackerGirl in a bit of 4WD and took the opportunity to do some cache maintenance as well. The container was not where it should have been and also the ammo tin had been stolen so we have relocated it to a more scenic area.

Due to unforeseen circumstances Mr Smokey Bear will no longer be a part of Team Smokey Bear and will continue his adventures as "SmokeyBearOG".

So I'm relogging all previous finds under my new account.
Unfortunately this log will not show the original logging date.

**Thanks to Team Crackers for this adventure, looking forward to many more.**

Was a hard one, could be wrong but think it is gone, reckon I found the spot it was in I think it is in need of checking

14-Sep-22
Well this certainly was rough as the clue I thought was obvious but no cache was located - I reached out to the CO and to previous finders - I excavated a Little explored with my poles but Nada ..maybe I had it totally wrong..

30-Oct-20
Covid-19 restrictions are now lifted and Geocaching is allowed so it is back on line.

02-Aug-20
Due to the new Covid 19 restrictions Geo Caching is not a reason to be out so we are disabling our caches untill safe to enable again.
Please stay home and be Safe.

4x4 season is now closed so this was a hike up rocky track. Not for the faint hearted, it's a proper hill! Imagine my disappointment when I reached GZ to find the area bulldozed, along with a gate advising not to proceed. Not looking good, sent a message to the CO

This are is now open, thanks to Biggles1024 for letting us know.

This are is now open, thanks to Biggles1024 for letting us know.
The track is VERY rough at the moment so it would not be wise to try unless you have a good winch.

08-May-19
We have been told this area is still out of bounds.
We will check it as soon as we can get in.

03-Mar-19
Due to the fires in this area we are disabling our caches

Over the years, geocaching has taken me on many adventures, including interesting destinations all over my home continent of Australia and many overseas as well. It has also introduced me to a diverse group of like-minded caching tragics, many of whom I now call close friends.

Today, I was lucky enough to be out and about searching for caches, something I do on almost a daily basis. This was one cache that was targeted and found.

Sorry for the late and generic log, something I am notorious for. Thank you Team Crackersfor adding to the adventure that is geocaching.

Found with Geoturtle37, The Tritonz, beckNmonts and micaparamedic. We had been eyeing off these caches for some time, so when we received an invite to join a small but intrepid band for the day we were all over it. The CO was set to join us as well, but a postponement due to rain unfortunately threw a spanner in that plan. The rain stayed away this time around and a great time was had by all rumbling around the Bunyip area. We tackled all but one track in our vehicles, that one was deemed too risky by unanimous vote. There was a bit of slipping here and there, but only one winch recovery required and everyone stayed shiny side up so that is just part of the fun. Thanks Team Crackers for bringing us out here for a great day out. We look forward to hitting the trail and sharing a cold one over a tall tale down the track somewhere.

08-Feb-19
We had spotted these series quite some time ago but didn't feel that we had enough experience to attempt them on our own. So when we got an invite to join in with others, we were very pleased. Unfortunately, due to the weather, it was called off.
Then we were told that another date had been set so it was on again. We had been watching the weather, and although it didn't seem to bad, we weren't sure if it would be called off again. It wasn't, YAY. We met up with two other vehicles at a fuel stop, struggled our way through Friday afternoon traffic and road words and were soon on the road to adventure. It was a shame that the 4th vehicle couldn't make it (but I'm sure the CO has done these tracks more than once.)
There were some awesome views and great tracks. There was only one that was undriveable, (in everyone's opinion) although an alternate route was chosen for another cache. Considering that there had apparently been rain only a couple of days earlier, we were lucky with the tracks. We only found one of them to be a little slippery but no worries.
A winch was needed in one place but nothing major and no damage or harm done so really doesn't count.
I had a fantastic afternoon out so a huge thank you to our awesome travelling companions for the invite and another huge thanks to the CO's for placing these caches.
Really hope that we can get out to do some more.

In the company of beckNmonts, micaparamedic, Geoturtle37 and Papi4506 in 3 capable 4WD's we finally knocked off these 2 4x4 series with little mishap. Mr. Weatherman had predicted much rain but beckNmonts convinced us that he was wrong as all previous days predictions had failed to produce said 50mm of rain that was supposed to hit Melbourne in a big way. Taking her word for it and lets face it, not wanting to have to cancel once again, we met up at a local servo and then made our way in convoy to enjoy a wonderful adventure with great mates testing our skills in the Bunyip State Park. The small amount of rain that had been through here on the Wednesday made one track slippery in spots but we managed to avoid most of it and still claim the hides. Good hints made for easy finds and our team names were all added to the logbooks held captive in their ammo can prisons.
Wow, rough and slippery!
Thanks very much Team Crackers for the effort put into both series, for us and others to enjoy.

08-Feb-19
With rain forecast I was concerned that we would again, have to postpone our quest of these caches. However, I managed to convince people that there was not as much rain this way as the news was making out. So we met at the agreed time, minus just one of the parties... the co, of course! (I’m pretty sure they will know they were missing prior to reading my log). We managed to find all the caches, and didn’t have any car mishaps. A slight winching incident, but where there is no damage done, there is no issue, IMO! Thanks so much for placing this series Team Crackers, I had a great time finding the caches today.

05-Jan-19
Wow what an adventure. Dad definitely needed the exercise, and 14yo tagged along for the ride.

Left the geo-Corolla at the bottom of the hill - probably a good move given the terrain. Was hard enough to walk up this hill in the dry, would hate to try in the mud!

Easy find at the top of the hill and then we were off to the next cache. Thanks for bringing us out today.

I had been looking at this series for a long time wondering whose 4wd vehicle I could borrow, or if I should just hike it. With my wife off on a long run, I had some time to hike it. Knowing Toolman was training for a long hike, I yelled out and he was in. Took us about 3.5 hours to hike the 11km to collect these 4 caches.

Massive craggy part between these 2 caches and I would love to see a 4 wheel drive take this area. No way my lowered car is getting anywhere near here, or Toolman's 4wd

Thanks for the cache Team Crackers

PS. 'Hope' tb dropped off

HOLY HELL!! This one is rough. We got within 500m of the cache, but with kids in tow couldn't risk getting to GZ.. We will be back for this one.

*27 Oct 2018, Found @11:11 pm, Find # 2173.*

This hill is the one that just keeps on giving. It makes the first one seem like a walk in the park. I think I can, I know I can, but all I wanted to say was who put this b****y hill in the way. I guess the one good thing is it’s all down hill from here. Thanks for all the twists and turns and all the big rocks we had to either go around or climb over.

**Thanks to Team Crackers for placing this cache.**

28-Oct-18
Out tonight looking for some caches and this was one I could not pass. I thought the hill would continue forever but eventually we made it up and was able to log this as a find. Great to see an ammo can still going strong after so long

Thanks Team Crackers for the cache.

Woohoo, my 2nd for today!

Out for a solo ride on my dirt bike, thanks for bringing me here! Stupidly I didn't bring a pen so I couldn't sign the log.

Love to see the 4x4 boys and girls try to come up this track in the wet season!

Today tackled the 4x4 series 1 & 2 and enjoyed the journey to this cache. With the next one in the series we looked at the HILL and said to one another, no way the Geo Jero will conquer this, so Mr "T" made the remaining 500m walk up the hill to make a quick find at GZ. Cache and contents are in good condition.

Thanks for placing and maintaining this cache for our enjoyment.

I don't think I'll ever forget this cache. Out on a birthday bushwalk with the Melbourne Bushwalkers Club I knew that I was up for some exercise when the walk notes described a 'steady climb of 260m followed by a steady descent'. My Garmin tells a different story with a far higher gain in altitude but I'm not sure they would've had a full bus if they had told us that the climb HAPPENS FIRST UP when we didn't have a chance to warm up!
Of course being the only geocacher in the group meant that I didn't want to hold them up as I searched so I pushed on ahead with a fast member of the group in order to maximise search time and minimise the whole 'what is he doing?' thing that muggles often display when informed of what geocaching involves.
I paid for this extravagant expenditure of energy all the way through the rest of the walk. The chopped up nature of the track didn't help with the need to go into the bush at various points given the water filled ruts had expanded to fill the whole track. Why do dirt bikers and 4WDs come through after heavy rain seasons? Why not wait until the track has dried out?
Nonetheless the cache was found in good order and is no longer unloved. Thanks for the placement of this cache, Team Crackers and giving me my first find of a T5 cache on my birthday, no less!

With time running out for the day I attempted one final hike to get to the final 4 4x4-2 caches. As it turned out I had to leave Hell's Gate for another day, but visited the 3 closest to Forest Rd. Now that evening was approaching I finally saw fellow humans for the first time all day, namely in 4WDs, so things became a bit less fun from a pedestrian's point of view. Razz Approaching this one from Rocky Road I recall laughing out loud when I first spied the bumpy, boulder-strewn and impossibly steep stretch about half way up. It seemed highly improbable that any civilian vehicle could actually scale that sort of terrain. Amazing. It wasn't all smiles on foot either. I stumbled a couple of times and opted for the scrub alongside the track instead in a couple of places! In comparison, retrieving the cache itself was easy. Thanks Team Crackers!

Found 11:15:00 AM, whilst out with Muzza on our December caching expedition, to Bunyip State forest. A 4WD expedition this time, so the Wrangler could do what it does best Big Grin

TNLN, thanks Team Crackers (F=17447 H=129).

09-Dec-15
Out and about with Biggles Bear #1 in the 4WD, we decided to take advantage of its capabilities and headed for the Bunyip State Forest to do both 4x4 series there. On advice from the CO, we attempted the second series first, then the first series in reverse order, although things didn't go as planned. This is where we came unstuck. We were able to make our way to within 400 metres of this cache, but the road ahead was so rutted that BB#1 chose the safest option, and that was to walk. That of course meant that the next caches were not just a case of continuing along the track, and so the remainder of this series was out of order.

Found the cache relatively easily, but I think we ended up using the clue instead of bush bashing our way and following our GPSs. Thanks again to Team Crackers for the cache.

26-Apr-15
Well we set out today to find the 3 unloved caches in the area , but was hesitant about driving this on our own , as in the past my 4Bs have had battle scars from this track ,so we decided to walk the last 300 Mtrs to GZ , well the walk was worth it even with muddy hands pants boots and in the rain This was our 300th find so a small miles stone against yourself lol
A huge thanx Team Crackers for your part in our achievement great caches all round

Traveling through with Rigger64 we took the opportunity to check all the caches were still in good nick.

Find # 1130 Found @09:46Hrs

This cache was the next on the list & yes it was a little bit rough as we did get a little hung up on one corner only because i did not give it enough of a foot full but after we rolled back a bit then hit the loud peddle we got over the bump & onto the parking spot for this cache, Just as we were replacing the cache we get the call it's Pit Stop time so with the girls having made there Pit stop we were on the track again in search for the next cache.

Had a magnificent day out in Bunyip Forrest. The main aim was to pick up a few of the 4X4 series (on foot) as well as explore some interesting features I had spotted from satellite imagery (as possible places to hide some new caches).

Now this was an excellent adventure. Really got a great work out getting up here. It was very muddy and slipped over a couple of times. About 200meters away from the cache my boss rang me. He apologized for calling me on my day off but he needed some work done back at the store urgently. I told him it was not a problem and would sort it out straight away. After finding the cache I sat down and enjoyed perfect mobile phone reception. A couple of phone calls later and a few email messages sent, everything was sorted and I could continue on with my day. Gotta love technology!

Thanks Team Crackers for the cache!

Probably the hardest terrain we have experienced in our 4wd, we are rookies. A great day out with fantastic caches, amazed at how many people we have seen today.

27-Apr-13
The old girl handled herself pretty well going up this section considering she's never really had that much asked of her before (she is a city girl most of the time after all). The Chief is gaining confidence doing this kind of thing and Wal is a good mentor! A big hill means one thing too, I could see the anticipation on him when he came back to the car! Back into low range girly!

27-Apr-13
Out for a bit of fun geocaching with Earthbound Chief and Co. We decided to head towards Bunyip State Forest and a bit of 4x4 excitement. After a bite to eat at the nearby picnic grounds it was back to the serious stuff!! Cache was easily located and we were soon back on the track after a fun bit of low range driving. TFTC

In the company of in the company of Team Crackers, Maccamob, Rebel Acts, Rabbitto, pprass and Alansee we pursued our way along tracks to this cache.
When I read this cache description I had visions of winching, bashing, banging and untold damage and that was just getting out of the driveway.
We arrived at the start of the climb and was amazed to see an alternative way was visible. The road up was fine but it seems the transmission didnt like the angle so it took us a little longer to reach the top and the cache.
Our sincere thanks to Team Crackers for the cache.
Regards

Found in the company of Alansee, maccamob, Mr. Coffee, Rabbitto, Pprass and Team Crackers, on a little 4WD adventure. The dozer sure made life easier, not as rough as expected. Thanks Spook for the cache and driving us around.

13-Apr-13
Found by Mary & David, in company with Team Crackers, Alansee, Rebel Acts, pprass, Rabbitto and The Coffees, at 0930. Maybe it was rough previously, but we struck this section of the track at its best. We were passed by a few trail-bikers while we waited for Mr Coffee's 4wd to have its rest. Again, the cache was found fairly quickly despite the regrowth since it was placed. Our thanks to Team Crackers.

13-Apr-13
Out for a days caching and some cache maintenance with Alansee, Maccamob, Pprass, Rabbitto, Rebel Acts and The Coffees. The track is now quite easy compared to what it was but still a nice drive. After they had found the cache we declared it safe and sound and right where it should have been.

13-Apr-13
We found this cache today at 9:30am as the 3rd of 18 on our 4x4-2 Bunyip Tour in company of Pprass, Maccamob, Team Crackers, The Coffee Clan, Alansee and Rebel Acts. The Coffee Mobile had a little trouble on the way up but nothing to do with the roughness of the track. An adjustment on board and they were off again but with no other trouble for the day. The picture of the track on the cache page were surely not on this harmless little track? Thanks from D & HA B-A.

Found at 9:33 AM GAFF5 in the company of Alansee, maccamob, Mr. Coffee, Rabbitto, Rebel Acts and Team Crackers.
Well actually it wasn't that rough at all! It was steep in sections, but the track was firm and flat (from side to side).
Mr Coffee decided to let his 4wd have a bit of a rest half way up, but it soon recovered and we were on our way again.
Thanks Team Crackers.

13-Apr-13
Done today in the company of Team Crackers, Maccamob, Rebel Acts, Rabbitto, pprass, and Mr Coffee. I am not at all sure why this one was named the way that it was - it wasn't very rough at all! Razz

Out on a motorbike ride for the first time in 18 months. Did this series in reverse since we were coming from the other direction and also heading back to where we parked the car and trailer.
Rode past this one as well as it's a bit hard to check the iPhone while riding. Came back though for a nice quick find.
TFTC and my brother for stopping his motorbike ride to look for strange little boxes in the bush.

Found @ 8:46am, find # 1992.
Today was planned that we would do a bit of motorbike riding, so I made sure that finding the rest of the caches in this series was also on the too-do list.
We arrived in the area and headed off, we made our way to Rocky tk and after finding that cache we continued on to this one, there has been some major works do to the tracks around here, so it was a fairly easy ride up the hill to GZ,but just before we got there we could see what the track was like before with big rutts and very big rocks but now there is a nice smooth track winding through the hard stuff.
When we arrived near GZ, hopped off our bikes and the cache was spotted before the seach began, the cache was gathered and the log signed, now it was time to move onto the next one.
Thanks to Team Crackers for this cache and all the caching fun.

30-Dec-12
Well that was rough. Yes it was. We came across a couple of 4Wds one of which had smashed one if his diffs. Oil on the track showing the rock that did the damage. He was in a good truck with a lift kit and still came to grief. We managed to conquer this hill and find our prize. Thanks Team Crackers for this series of challenges. Great fun.

With Dylan 7a in the driver's seat we attacked this one from reverse order than what might have been expected taking note of the caching notes (a terrific in Map in the GPSr was very helpful). It was still a challenging 4 WD experience, passing through a myriad of destruction and regrowth, some tantalising glimpses of views and always of interest. We stopped plenty of times for photographs (and here was part of the enjoyment). Caution is perhaps the by-word driving to this one - if wet (our day was dry) it would be very interesting indeed to attempt! Certainly 4 WD a must and the words of advice with the notes well stated. It'd make a rollicking walk too that would make you very intimate with most of your leg and back muscles I suspect. Pleased to snare the Cache, which is in fine condition. Found with Dylan 7a. Thank you to 'Team Crackers' for the Cache and location. TNLN.

Found on a day out in the area with 3up. As we tackled these in reverse order we didn't really appreciate the meaning behind the name of this cache until we traveled down to Rock Road, but more on that in the next log! Thanks Team Crackers.

Find # 1561 @ 15:20 with jaffnut
What goes up must come down. Trouble was so was the rain which made it that little more interesting. The ruts were deep and the sides very slippery but with due care and caution, we made it without panel damage. Need to have a good look at the underbelly though due to snagging on a couple of bounders. I am glad we did this in reverse order as I doubt we could have gone up without some serious winching as a couple of gung ho cowboys soon found out. TNLNSL. Thanks for the series Team_Crackers, most enjoyable!

Before I continue about this cache there are a few things you need to know.
About the last three caches in the series.
Start time from the car was1125 hours.
Back at car was 1435 hours.
That's right 3 hours 10 minutes for three finds.(Walking)
Distance walked so far 10.54 kms. just the last three caches in the series.
NOW FOR THIS CACHE.
Do you really want to know?
Of-course you do, how silly of me to think otherwise.
Update on distance traveled so far is 13.7 kms.
That's walking and driving distance, you do the maths because I can't think straight at the moment.
Beside I did the hard work, so you can do the easy maths.
So I parked the car at the next starting point and left at 1455 hours.
Headed towards GZ, yes of-course I past the first cache in the series.
But you will have to wait to read that log because each cache page deserves it's own log.
Well this was turning out to be a real epic adventure.
Had a lot of rest stop on my way to this cache, I mean a lot but after I walked over 10.5 kms, I deserved them.
So on with the epic adventure that I had started.
I was about 800 metres from GZ and those thoughts of, I should just go home came flooding through.
Don't be silly you can't walk past the first cache again.
That's right there was no way I could log the first cache before the second cache.
That's also right you will have to wait for that log to find out why.
So it was get up and get going to GZ, you can't come this far and not go on.
So I force myself to GZ, that was easy because I wanted this cache.
Besides what's the point of having an epic journey if you don't do this cache.
I must admit the name of this cache is suited to the track, weather you walk or drive.
I've seen it.
So I finally found the Cache at 1555 hours, that's right 1 hour after leaving the car.
Distance traveled so far is 15.47 kms (this includes the driving part as well)
Sorry I'm not doing the maths for you.
TNLN SL STF on this one as well.
Just so you know I'm still enjoying the epic adventure.
So thank you Team Crackers for the series so far.
