QEF on a rainy day. ATM got soaked by the undergrowth. TFTC and greetings from the UK
Out on a tiki tour driving around the area reading history boards and doing a couple of short walks. Trying to avoid a couple of downpours - so just a quick drive by here.TFTC
After years on our bucket list and three cancellations due to Covid, we are thrilled to finally be here. Following several cruises we flew from Sydney, Australia to Wellington, New Zealand to begin our next adventure. Picked up our rental vehicle and will be driving, exploring, hiking, and caching both islands for 3.5 weeks. This road was busier than expected, but we pulled over as far as possible and made quick work of getting our ink on the cache log. Thanks for adding to our adventure today, Nukeworker and Racquetball Girl, Arkansas, USA
Quick find! Cool little cache location for a park and grab. Log book was soaked and water has been getting into the container and zip loc. I have left a replacement log sheet of waterproof paper in new zip loc along with the original log just to ensure people can continue to write in the log. TFTC
Day 7 on our holiday in New Zealand. Today our tour is going from Fox Glacier to Punakaiki. We also visited this traditional cache, found it, and signed the logbook.

After passing this road many times over the last year or so I finally came down here to see the beach. Quick find. TFTC
First find if our day. Slowly making our way to Hokitika geoing on the way with Judith
Day 6 - Labour weekend extended road trip with Kiwicampnut - relocated to stay south of the ditch.
Woke to blue skies and spectacular views. Quite different from yesterday.
Decided to grab one more on the way out of Hokitika - and missed the rocks (yes, both of them) on the way past so had to backtrack.
Not found first time around, or the second. Checked out over the road. MAF - they were off line, buggar. Resorted to getting out the poking stick (aka walking pole) and soon heard a hopeful sound. Yes, bingo! Luckily not near the cutty grass or other managing stuff.
Thanks for the cache Bitsprayer

On a trip with Ruru_NZ to gather the tour caches needed or in my case not done yet. Should be able to knock them off on this trip.
On a trip to Nelson for a tramp walking the Able Tazman.
Quick find in the rain.
Found with annielin and downsouthinv.

Out on a gc adventure and this brouught us to a new area. Nice signs, clever cache title. Thanks for the cache Bitsprayer.
A quick find today and I can’t believe that I struggled to find it on Thursday
While on the way to Hokitika and abit beyond we stopped here to make sure this was indeed here after a few recent DNFs. GZ looks quite overgrown from the last time we were here but the cache is fine and just where it should be. There is a small geotrail on the left but the cache is much easier accessed from the right hand side. All good here. P.S: We are happy to adopt this cache if ever you tire of it.
Day 4 of my 2020 NZE (New Zealand Experience).
(My apologies for the delayed logging but I'm in catch-up mode)
Seeing as I can't be in America right now, I'm touring around the South Island instead. During my time here I am aiming to find as many of the TMGT caches as I can (preferably all 41) and also as many Virtuals, Earthcaches and Letterbox Hybrids as possible, plus any Trads or others that will fill a hole in my D/T grid, my Jasmer grid, or else the last 3 remaining Hidden Dates on that grid.
Today was my drive from East to West. Kicking off the day near Sheffield, I was finally going to drive over Arthurs Pass and hoped to end up in Greymouth by the time the sun was setting. I've only ever been over this pass on the Tranz Alpine many many years ago so I was taking my time and enjoying the drive.
It was starting to get later in the arvo by the time I reached the West Coast. Parking up, I had the place to myself apart from the occasional car passing by. Once at GZ, it took me no time to find the cache itself. There were no issues with any aspect of it, but my pen started to run out of ink as I was signing the log! I just about managed to make a legible mark before everything was replaced exactly as found, and I was back on my way again.
Thanks for placing this cache. Bit of odd spelling in the cache title though?

Time to head home after an awesome weekend caching around the hokitika area.
Early start on a mission to get as many between hokitika and Arthur's pass.
White truck and hi viz jacket perfect camo for these caches
Definitely felt uncomfortable getting this even though no one is around quick find though tftc

Spending a couple of days in Greymouth to do TMGT caches and anything else that's around and relatively easy. Mr S found this one. Mrs S signed. Is this really a new subdivision?
Thanks Bitsprayer.
Thanks Bitsprayer.
(# 5309). Today is day 2 of my West Coast trip. Weather wise the day wasn't to bad apart from an absolute deluge around lunchtime. No caching at the time as it was far to wet. Today was a trip to Hokitika then the gorge. A quick find. Everything in order. TFTC
Wet log replaced by Mum on the way passed this morning. This container was dry inside and intact so this one was user error. All good to go again. Happy Caching
One of 11 caches found today between Greymouth and Hokitika. Changeable weather – started off dull, then rained before the sun came out for a considerable time, then rained again before we flew off home from Hoki. Took a moment or two to locate this one. The logbook is very wet, with some of the pages stuck together. #2077. TFTC.
Many thanks to all the COs who helped make our geocaching holiday a great success
We left home early April and returned 21 May 2018. We toured from our home base up to a wedding in North Taranaki then carried on heading south right down through wellington and on down the west coast and back up via the eastern side of the alps some times going around in circles. Our aim was to get as many smiley faces on the puzzle caches that we had solved but of course stopping for many traditionals, multies and others as we went. some time we biked the bike trails or walked but mostly by campervan. we enjoyed the quite back country roads, many of them were metal but we just travelled along slowly going from cache to cache. Most caches were in good condition and I will remark if we thought it needs maintence etc.

Luckily the rain had eased for Mrs to venture out and fumble around to try and find it. Found after originally overshooting and making off into the bushes (?$%#). After removing various plant debris from jersey we continued on our way. Log nice n dry
Could hardly resist a search for this one on the way past. Parked by the left rock and searched the right one first before moving vegetation carefully and exposing cachus traditionalus in it's natural environment. Left it gently for other venturers to discover.

The last part of the day involved mopping up a few solved puzzles and heading to Hokitika via Kumara (my least fave vegetable!)
Day 2 of the trip and with daylight saving starting/ending yesterday I found myself up nice and early and in McDs having breakfast at around 0615. The bike had been loaded into the car for the cycle along the beach to grab the Survivor series remainder (though one DNF would prevent a clean sweep!). It took around 1 hour 40 minutes from #3 (DNF last time) to the end of the line #33, and only 30 minutes cycling on the way back, quite a few caches found on this trip and nearly all were puzzles too. After that was done it was drop the bike in the apartment and head along from Cobden to Point Elizabeth all the way to Rapahoe beach end, then all the way back to the car and finally off to Hokitika, along the back roads, before the rain came down too heavily. As it was the rain got heavier and heavier and caching was stopped for the evening at around 1800, stuck on just over 90 finds. A great days caching and apologies in advance for the cut n paste logs, will comment specifically where I remember any variation.
Easter weekend 2018 is here and I have a cunning plan. Well, a caching plan, but what's the difference? With mrs and daughter working over the weekend and me with a few days off work there was a chance to convert some of my solved puzzles over on the West Coast into smiley faces. And add to my West Coast caching total. And do the Point Elizabeth walk, and several other appealing strolls. And some other stuff and all the way along gaining extra points for the planetary Challenge thingy to gain some electronic 2D Geo-souvenirs. And so, setting off around 0730 on Easter Sunday with the trusty mountain bike aboard (for the Greymouth beach-side track) I clocked up just under 1000 kms by road, a few extra on 2 wheels and several more on 2 feet, quite the trip. The threatened rain only arrived on the second afternoon in Hokitika (by which time I'd done my walks for the day) and the drive back from Greymouth via Westport was in blazing Autumn sunshine - Beautiful. Fantastic scenery all around and a large number of caches from b&w and gracie7&mum helped the total to just over 180 finds.
An awesome few days which my family wouldn't have enjoyed, but conversely actually would have, for the most part. An FTF in Reefton on the way through on Day 1 was another bonus, and monkey off the back for the monthly streak. A few DNFs which is to be expected with that many looked for, but a lot of good sights and experiences too. Thanks to all the COs for their placements.

Looks like there must be a few residents going on the number of letterboxes nearby tftc
Not really the most ecological of subdivisions because you need to drive everywhere instead of walking or cycling. Cache was quickly found.
The end of the Kumara gala day and a few minutes with short detour we soon had cache in hand. Have a look around new sub division before getting ready to meet back with relatives for tea.
Over from Chch for weekend gave us the opportunity to pick up a few caches.

Day 3 Greymouth -Hokitika
After completing the card series, we made our way following a caching trail into town.
I wanted to do the Flintstones since I had done all the puzzles before leaving Australia.
We found Greymouth a great town to drivw around, a good selection of hides & containers found.

Greetings from Australia, We are finally managing to catch up on some logs, found as we continued our trip, log retrieved signed and replaced as found, thanks for the cache and the fun
We stopped to check on this while on a maintenance run today. The notepad was quite damp and pages were falling out so we replaced it with a fresh logbook. It has lasted a long time though. These ones tend to lose pages wet or dry. All good to go here. Happy Caching
Nice spot, haven't been up here before. Nice hiding place, Soph found it pretty quick, tftc
Nice hide and interesting place, stopped here on our way to Westport. Caching while the weather is ok. TFTC
We stopped to check on this one while on a maintenance run to Hokitika. We wiped it all out and removed the signature cards and gave the log a baggie, its holding up well. Some pages have fallen out but are just tucked back inside. Happy Caching
Interesting stones! One wonder who's sanctuary...

A short detour from our route reveled a nice little container for us to log. The cache was a bit wet in side. Thanks for the placement.
I always wondered where this road would lead. After finding the cache we drove up for a point to turn around and found 19 mail boxes at the first intersection. I had a look on Google Earth and now I know. It's what geocaching does, it takes you places you wouldn't otherwise. Thank you Bitsprayer
Out and about today finding some long solved puzzles and others we have been bypassing when on the Coast. By now the rain was getting thicker so the cache was taken to the car to sign the log.
Thank you Bitsprayer.
Thank you Bitsprayer.
Had to get one more cache on this coast before heading back east. TFTC Bitsprayer
Its Easter & have teamed up with The Seagnoid & Zara, for a magical mystery tour, exploring the amazing West Coast. Its Saturday and we are off exploring again, heading towards Hokitika. Got an early start and a bit wet. This was an easy find for me on our way past. Cheers
On a big Easter caching mission with ZaraBus and TaybeeDragon. Lots of crawling through mines, climbing hills, walking through bush. And yet we only covered a tiny bit of the West Coast, between Greymouth and Hokitika.
Found by TaybeeDragon on a dark rainy very early morning, before I had even got my shoes on!
