Hi phiki614This geocache was brought to my attention as being in need of an owner maintenance visit and after my previous reviewer note, there has been no owner response. The cache owner needs to check on this cache ASAP and either replace it or archive it, after picking up any geo-litter. See the [maintenance section of the Geocache Listing Requirements/Guidelines](http://www.geocaching.com/about/guidelines.aspx#listingmaintenance).I've added this cache to my watchlist, and I will check back in four weeks to be sure that the maintenance has been done. In the meantime, I have temporarily disabled this listing. If a month passes without seeing a response, then I'll assume that this listing should be archived. Please note, that if a cache is archived due to lack of owner maintenance, the cache is unable to be unarchived.RegardsTheCoddiwompler
Checked about 5 "poles" to make sure it wasnt another one, but again, no luck here today. Maybe needs checked?
Collected the information some time ago, did the calculations at home and now back in the area to grab the cache. TFTC
A quick find while waiting for the boys to finish golf. Thanks really interesting.
An interesting wander around the old cemetery. So sad to see how young some of the early settlers were when they died. Not too many grave stones to find & we soon had good looking co ordinates. Walked a short way to GZ & made an instant find. Thanks for setting up this multi.
I'm staying in Clyde for a couple of days. Headed into Cromwell early this morning. to have a look around and find a cache or two. Solved at home, so just had to find the cache this morning. TFTC
Walked around gathering the numbers up. Sad to see how many babies the Scallys lost.
The cache was a quick find. TFTC.

Heading home to omakau after a Lsar training exercise near tekapo...decided it would be a great opportunity to spend a few hours in Cromwell knocking of a few caches..
Wouldn't be a proper caching mission without a trip to the cemetery...didnt take long to get the numbers and a quick find..tftc

My very first find!!! Learning about this to share with my Granddaughter.
All worked out with one bit of guesswork. Thank goodness living standards here mean that we don't live with the worry of typhoid anymore. Now if we could sort damp cold houses......Tftc
A nice quick find after gathering most of the required info, thanks.
Ms_KR and I are on a wee South Island break. Today we cruised around Wanaka, Hawea and Cromwell. There was a stong nor'wester wind and some lovely lenticular clouds, but it did stop biking and caching.
Thanks to all CO's for publishing and maintaining their caches. Cheers.

Had MrF Christmas work do last night so today was a day to cache.
Spending the day in Cromwell finding some caches. Was a drizzly day but still mild. Great day to be out caching and discovering more about the history of Cromwell. I enjoyed this multi, looking at the different tombstones and seeing where a lot of them originated from.

Really enjoyed a wander around this cemetery. So sad at the ages and amount of people. Took me a while to work the waypoint but perseverance paid off . TFTC
Sad to learn that so many people died so young in this area. An interesting piece of local history.
Took lots of photos on Friday and worked out the answer from the photos and came back today for a quick find
we really enjoyed looking thro this old cemetery and reading the head stones . imagine losing 5 chn and then the mother a year later. several drownings including a 15month old, and man killed in a rock fall. those were very hard times !
cache was all secure thanks for this cache .
Today was set aside to do a geo caching day to Cromwell if the weather was unsuitable for skiing which is was , so we set off early at about 8.30 and finally arrived home about 5.30 with approx 41 caches in total including the adventure lab , so we were very pleased. we took a muggle who have been intro' to geocaching briefly on a few days before and so today was a big geo caching experience for her and as i had 2 GPS's with me she was able to use one quite independently by half was thro the day.
we enjoyed spending some time at the historic Cromwell area which none of us had actually explored before and where we had lunch at the Grain cafe.
we only had 2 DNFs and both were of puzzle style caches which we had solved but there was nothing at GZ.
thank you for these caches

I love cemetery caches, and this one was no exception. In fact, this cache is what drew me from Queenstown today.
I really enjoyed wandering around this little cemetery, collecting the information as I went. As others have noted, it was poignant reading the causes of death for many of the inhabitants. Quick find at GZ. TFTC

*Another good multi-cache find.
Nice day going from cache to cache with woolwood9.*
We soon had the container located at final area. SL: **tm/ww NZ**
Thanks for putting this out for us to visit!
We enjoyed the drive / walk around!
2 of the graves took a while to find!

The rain had stopped for a bit so Mr P and I wandered about this historic graveyard until we found all that was necessary. The stories of the people were so sad. T4tc
Enjoyed the stroll around the cemetery. Gathered all the required numbers and soon had the cache in hand. Tftc grabbed TB
It was off into Cromwell Old Town to do the AD Lab and one or two others that get in the way.
I gathered all the info and was then off to the final.
Cheers for the cache.

Just finished the Lab Cache and saw this near. Maybe quicker just wandering rather than use the map that I did.
I'm catching up on my logging which seemed to have stalled even though we have been in lockdown, my excuse is that I have been working throughout.
Found on our southward leg - day 3. Stayed in Cromwell last night, first cache for the day.
This started out as a Geocaching road trip to Invercargill to drop off some stuff for the niece and collect some other stuff for Mrs banian. It turned into a bit of a race back to Wellington to beat the Covid-19 lockdown.
We were able to rebook our Ashburton accommodation and ferry ticket to earlier in the week. When we arrived in Picton the vehicle queue was almost a kilometre long, and got longer behind us. Fortunately, as we had tickets we were still able to get on our sailing.

Not so fast as I supposed, I was walking up and down, but I had enough time for GC and finally I found it. Very peaceful, tranquil place, one headstone was really hard for me (letter B) ...
Hello from Washington state. On day 24 of our 5 week road trip in NZ. My muggle hubby went to Wanaka today to visit the air museum and I bowed out to walk around Cromwell to geocache. Enjoyed my walk from new town “mall” area all the way over the old town area. This was my 10th and last cache of the day. I gathered all but two of the coordinates yesterday evening and came back today for the last two. It helped when I saw the back of the large monument showing where the graves were located, or in some cases mention of others where the location was not known. I was not completely sure of the coordinates for “B” so I chose between 2 that I thought might be the answer and only one seemed logical so I went there and made a quick find. TFTC
A well designed and thought out multi. Amazing to see how many children died so young in that era. Nice that final location was close by too.
Very interesting - in one case quite tragic - reading the gravestones. Soon worked it out and it was a short stroll to the cache. TFTC
A fresh new day seen me grabbing some solved caches. On the case of the biggest Museum jewel heist in history! Locating a detective, briefed him on the case and investigated the scene collecting evidence. Finding fingerprints, footprints and shadows recorded on video surveillance - one by one fifteen stolen gems were recovered only having to find another 25/10 caches to solve the vault code changed by the thieves, return the jewels and close the case. *Winter time dots are thin on the ground for August soon to be rectified with a push over the border ploughing new fields of Central Otago of it's green dots turning dozens of dates from one singular shade of green to a multiple darker green on the 'finds' table*. Like previous finders and most multis in general, especially cemeteries, an armchair solve was pinned to track down the cache. Parked on the wrong side and walked over to where some changes had affected the condition of the previous manky cache or was just not that respected in proximity to the scout den as the majority of outlying Cromwell caches were clean and dry. Found the replacement cache not that hidden but had a dry bagged logbook to SL and returned cache with more cover hidden better. Had a look at the kiosk for any corresponding names but wasn't that necessary. Sickness and epidemics were rife before vaccinations and living conditions were improved upon. Thanks for setting the multi up Phiki614.

Found with StreetWalker on day #4 of our extended Easter break. Today we are travelling from Clyde to Cromwell then onto the old gold fields of Logantown, then back to Clyde.
I had let my fingers do the walking with this multi and had the co-ordinates calculated from the comfort of home. One answer I wasn't 100% sure of, but the cache was quickly found exactly where the GPSr was pointing. Nice old cemetery. TFTC.

#16936. The cache was a quick find. As I was signing the log I was startled by a dog suddenly appearing and yapping at me. Turned out he was a friendly mutt. Had a chat with the owner after doing the paperwork. Apparently the owner bought a boat, and the seller offered to throw in the dog for free! TFTC.
Yay! found it this 2nd time and the new cache has been replaced with a dry log book too, tftc
Replaced cache added a new log book in plastic bag. left old soggy one /unreadable will msg CO re: tftc
#1242 - Early morning caching trying to beat the heat of the day. A nice little multi with some great history.

This was a really enjoyable cache. Gosh those early people had a tough life. Cache desperately needs maintenance - the log cant be written on (tho we added 1 wee piece of paper).
Before leaving Cromwell we went to find a few caches.
We visited the old cemetery and found the answers to this multi.
We found the cache at the coordinates and we also found the lid, but the whole content is in a very bad condition and needs to be renewed. We couldn’t write in the logbook, but took a photo.
TFTC and greetings from Denmark

Not found, I wonder if it's been removed due to the noted bad state it was in? Have messaged cache owner.
Really enjoyed completing this cache, and some fascinating history. Cache badly needs maintenance though - we could not sign the log as it was just mush, and the container is broken, so no value in trying to add another logbook. TFTC
This is a fun find we will come back and replace log and container as I can see a lot of logs about needing fix up.
Away for a school holiday escape in Cromwell, caching along the way on a crisp winter morning. Tried this one years ago as part of the alphabet series and had to leave a sad face. Today we were successful. TFTC 1740
Thanks for the cache. Unfortunately no lid on container and contents including the log book are drenched. Unable to sign logbook.
Also noted a typo in John Polson’s name - typed “Polsen” and should read “Polson”.
Thanks for the cache. Such a sad event for the Scully family. Disease I guess.

A wintery expedition to see if we can locate the elusive Hidden Creatures world turtle.
Solved this quickly. Cannot sign log as unable to.

We met up with a couple of fellow cachers from home and worked together to grab a few local caches. This cache had no lid and as a result the log book is sopping wet and unsignable. We turned the cache upside down to try and drain it, but this definitely needs a new container. TFTC
Quickly solved, and quickly disappointed at state of log. Needs new container and log.
Had worked out some of the clues before I came through. Got the rest & headed off to finally. Unfortunately couldn’t sign log as it was sitting in about an inch of water. Took a photo instead. SW turned container upside down with bag underneath. Sorry didn’t have a replacement container with me. TFTP
The cache needs a major overhaul as everything is wet & container lid no longer there.
Found with Mporokosa, Truffles and Goldilocks after solving all the clues. GC has lost its lid and log is soaked. TFTC
Love a good cemetery multi. We both enjoyed wandering around collecting the answers. Log very wet but we weren't carrying a spare one. Tftc
As usual I enjoyed my wander round collecting the numbers and then went off to make the find only problem was that turned out on private property. Went back round again - quicker this time because I knew where to go but came up with the same result. However I had a brain wave and found the cache. The lid was off and it was full of water so I dried it out and replaced it upside down so hopefully that doesn't happen again. Not sure what I did wrong but still came away smiling. TFTC # 12,145
It was a hot and sunny day in Cromwell. Once we made it to the sign at GZ, we decided not to solve the puzzle. ReCached and I grew up overseas in places where cemeteries are sacred. It didn't feel appropriate to walk up and down the premises to collect the numbers (we were okay with A and D, as they could be solved just by reading the board). We acknowledge that the cemetery is an important part of the CO's history and we appreciate that they'd like to show it to visitors.

i tried to do this one about a year ago and somehow came up with the wrong co-ordinates. Once home I played around and came up with a set of sensible looking co-ordinates. Today it was a quick find. the tree that had help hide it has been cut down so hopefully future finders will cover it with leaf litter.
Heading home after a couple of days in Queenstown. Stopped in Cromwell for lunch and a few caches. Had visited the Cemetery a few months ago and had the final but there were muggles in a nearby house watching so was unable to look for it then. No one around today so it was a nice quick find. TFTC
So glad to have finally found a multi cache today. Great wander around the old cemetery. Tftc
Found during a 3 day visit to Cromwell. We love this kind of cemetery cache. A chance to explore another side of local history. TFTC.
Guwapo, Mama and Papa out and about in a break in the weather. A very different perspective of life during the period was gathered during our walk around. So different from today. One of the clues had us stumped for a while but once found a quick calculation and find was completed. Salamat!
In a day in Cromwell I've managed to find three different types of caches. This was an easy multi. TFTC
Done while kids at new bike park. I love wandering around cemeteries and imagining what people's lives were like. Ellen Scilly must have gone through so much heartbreak
Found while waiting to get into our hotel room after running the northburn 100km race. Took nearly 26 hours. Thanks
Wow. That was great! Fun and interesting and pretty. And a little depressing and creepy. I like it. THANKS!
Great cache. I love the history of old cemeteries but sad to see the high mortality rate of new born, must have been a hard time to live. Great walk around the local cemetery. Thanks for the history lesson and TFTC ☺
With my eyes I took a while to find this. A beautiful cemetery worthy of a look. TFTC
Another great cache thanks. The old cemeteries are always good for a poignant moment. Really appreciate the easily found cache at the end.
An interesting walk around the cemetery. Found the cache with not too much trouble. Thanks for bringing us here.
Really fun the only one we've had to do so far that requires finding clues super fun
After another hot summers day. Was nice to have a much cooler evening to walk about grabbing a couple of caches. Tftc
