Drove in as far as we could then walked the remainder. Mr Adinache found the hard way up to the cache before quickly finding it. TFTC
Day 4 on our holiday in New Zealand. On the way from Te Anau to Queenstown over Dunedin, we also visited this traditional cache, found it, and signed the logbook.

Scrambled up the hard way then saw what looked like an old road in the direction of our car. Much better way to get down…very thankful there’s no snakes in NZ as certainly wouldn’t been as keen to venture in if was back home in Oz… TFTC
Scratched my truck pretty bad going down the track, and cache wasnt easy to recover as i decided to go straight up the hill. Tftc
Anorher one my girlfriend got before me l, better not let it happen again tftc
Yet again I found the hard way to the cache and the easy way back. All good with the cache. Thanks
Today was the day to do a scenic roadie via Kingston to collect a few leftover items.
Stopped here to snaffle this one. Found with downsouthinv and Abbykitt

Finally we got to pick up the last few thing we left behind from Kingston.
So an early morning start and pick up the bits and pieces and decide to do the round trip and pick up some supplies to make some jam .
I have always looked across the lake at the work done to keep the hill side in place .
But today we stop here to look on this side to track this one down .
Getting out and about in to the out doors is my happy place so any excuse to go caching.
Life is short. Live one foot step at a time.Never say" I'm gonna "- Just do it!!
Thanks for the hide

Decided today, that MrF and I should go for a little drive to clear the head. Did drive to this one before Christmas but decided my shoes were not appropriate to navigate the climb. Today we found the cache. Great start to our little cruise

Got the grandies to help with this find as unsure of the terrain, the rating seemed maybe a bit too small. Though going on recent logs there could be an easier way to the cache. A small scramble the 70 odd netres with not too many scratches soon had the cache in hand. I did have a look at the harder way up don't go there! Happy to mark this off the list, found with KNCN. Added a pic not really a spoiler..the challenge is getting to GZ
That was a cool find and interesting geocache. We got to GZ after finding the easier way. Found with wombats_4 tftc
We missed the first turnoff but found the second one so we drove up the track until we got to the right spot. M then walked the easy way up the hill to look for the cache. It took a while to find the right spot and slippery shoes didn't help but then he saw the right place.
11. cache today. I parked my bike just behind the fence, next to the main road then continued down. Nor the best access from the top but finally neither that bad as well, at least I didn't have to push my bike up.
Advice: Just go down and you will see it in "a cave".
Found on the crazy bike trip from Luggate to Alexandra to meet 2 friends, to find some caches around, to sweat a lot of energy.

Wow, do NOT take the route we did! We parked directly beneath the geocache and CLIMBED the cliff. Scary and spiky.
Instead go beyond the cache (in the direction of Cromwell) about 78m and you can get up some rocks onto a trail to backtrack to the cache
What an adventure with two small kids clinging onto thyme bushes to climb up 12 m vertical!!!

Taking a week’s holiday in Wanaka with Mr K. Have a list of some easy caches in the area hoping to increase my daily find rate to 1 per day. Today was the last day of our six day break.
A very cold day in Central Otago. After finding access we quickly found the cache. Tftc

We are out and about in the area finding some caches and enjoying exploring and revisiting other areas again.
This was our penultimate find for the day as we made our way back to our base in Cromwell.
The easy track was quickly found and car to car was less than 10 minutes.
Thank you phiki614.

We're hunting Tour caches and anything that's not slowing down our objective to much. Today is the opposite. Just one Tour Cache in the area but we take what's on offer without bikes and within our capabilities. We have started our return to base. We were reluctant to try to find this cache but pleased we did. We found the track up and it was short and sharp. Sharp for the briar that is that exacted its toll. Thank you phikl614
If you leave the track about 75m from gz there is an easy trail.
I always wondered what that was on the hill. Now I know. Thanks.

Needed long hands for that one! Great view of the new cycle bridge being built across the lake.
I'm not sure a T2 is appropriate for this cache, maybe a 3 would be better. Finally found after scrabbling up the cliff then found an easier way down. Cache lovely and dry. I now smell of thyme or is that heather, I'm not sure.
May have come to this one from the harder way but in the process sussed out potential fishing spots. Tftc
On the case of the biggest Museum jewel heist in history! Locating a detective, briefed him on the case and investigated the scene collecting evidence. Finding fingerprints, footprints and shadows recorded on video surveillance - one by one fifteen stolen gems were recovered only having to find another 4/31 caches to solve the vault code changed by the thieves, return the jewels and close the case. No matter where I parked, it was going to be a long leg stretcher getting to the GZ and while I took the first opportunity to drive in off the busy road, I'm kinda relieved not to be holding up anymore traffic and wouldn't have been keen driving through the fords and goat tracks but wish I had brought the water with me. Found the GZ surprisingly quick and old dry cache found in the second place search. One of the places seems to be a cat mummy cave and another a firewood stash? and almost thought that was where the cache was hidden under suspicious stick piles. This was not the case and the 500ml orange/brown lock'n'lock was soon in hand to SL nearby. Like other cacheri, I found the easier path back to the track afterwards. Thanks for getting us out of the car phiki614, I'm pleased you left this cache active as some of your others I searched for had been removed and only two other archived caches were found and logged this holiday. Found with StreetWalker on day #4 of our extended Easter break. Today we are travelling from Clyde to Cromwell then onto the old gold fields of Logantown, then back to Clyde.
Now heading south back to Clyde, we decided to stop for this cache as it was raining this morning when we drove past. Pleased we didn't do it in the rain. We managed to miss the easier uphill option, and made hard work of this cache.
After minutely exploring the larger cave without success, the other one was searched. Phew there was the cache. Returned via the easier route. The car smelt of thyme for the rest of the trip home.
The earth/rock works across the lake were mighty impressive from here. TFTC.

#16972. We drew level with the cache and realised we needed to be higher up. The direct approach looked a bit ugly, so we continued downstream and eventually found a track that double back. Made hard work of finding the cache. Eventually I read a log that talked about spiderwebs, which lead me to check out a couple of caves. No luck in the bigger one, but what's that at the back of the other one. Ah ha! Found a more direct route back down to the main track. TFTC.
We are on our summer holiday driving around the South Island with no real idea of where we will end up each day. We are often drawn to an area that has the potential to give us a few geocaching smilies and somewhere we have not spent time exploring before. In some cases we are revisiting placed that we have been before but liked so much we are going there again.
We decided we would head to Cromwell to see an old friend, so now that we have done that and the weather has improved we decided to come to have a look around this area. Interesting read and a nice walk to gz. The cache was a quick find, signed the log and returned it as we found it.
Thanks for placing this cache and thank you for the smiley

Our inner mountain goat came out today to get to this cache, i reached in, grabbed the cache and dragged my hair through a neighborhood of spideys eeeerrrrgggghhhh!!!! Anyway... on the plus side the car smelled like lemon thyme for ages afterwards... yum! TFTC
A great Thyme of year to be here, with autumn leaves etc. Bit cold today though.

This was a bit more difficult to get to than expected. Discovered a cave with a mummified cat which and the dog enjoyed sniffing around.
Heading to Queenstown for the weekend so a few stops planned along the way. This was the first and after a nice wee walk and then a short (but steep) scramble up cache was soon in hand. Pretty sure I left another pen in the cache. Seem to be loosing a lot lately!!! TFTC
Making the most of being the passenger for once and approached this from a different angle. Bailed out at the corner over the barrier and down the slope always easier going down hill . A morning stroll through the thyme which was surprisingly dry after the overnight rain . Didn't take long to locate and sign followed the track to my waiting ride and off we go finally finished off the gorge caches tftc
A bit of a climb up to this one bit an easy find. Left Cromwell early today so I had time to stop and get a few caches that I have been past many time and never had time to stop. So TFTC
Well, this was an interesting scenic detour on our way back home after a XC skiing weekend! One person in the car knew the area from launching kayaks here, but it was new to the rest of us. The retired engineer thought the geocaching was very odd, but he knew all about the Clyde dam. Nice to have a slightly higher car on this road! A quick scramble up where others had previously gone, and then it was in the obvious place. We kept driving and yes, the road does return to the main highway. Lovely smell of thyme in the car afterwards, thanks phiki614.
We really enjoyed the drive down this gravel road. We took it nice & slow in our little 2WD car and didn't have any problems. The thyme was fantastic & there is a beautiful view from GZ, this one is a favourite for us. Cache is well hidden and nice & dry. TFTC.
Can't get enough of that smell of tyme. And I see so many snail shells all over the ground. Strange. Tftc
Really enjoyed this little detour off the main route. We tried to work out what the rubbed out message was but couldn't make it all out unfortunately. TFTC #7617
Parked camper van next to the substation as weren't sure if it would make it further, but then who needs and excuse for a nice walk...Mr A had always wondered on past trips what the meaning of the earth works on the hill oppisite were.. thanks for answering the question - althoug we wonder why the rest of the hill hasnt got it... lol
soon found a place to crouch down, wishing we had hard hats after learnng about the slippery tendancey of the surrounding rocks should the "big one" come by... no such luck today.. but did wonder were we could find a leg of lamb for dinner when we realised the scrub we were winding through was in fact wild thyme.. not to mention the rosehips too...

Nice brief stroll from the operation building to GZ. Cache is in a good condition - but what should happen to it? It is well hidden and well protected from rain at least. Thanks
Walking through the thyme was memorable, well actually scrambling down the bank and then back up again to pull all the little bits of thyme out of my sandals was what we did. Lovely fragrance and welcome stop on our cycle trip through the gorge, but sadly PC Sniff and I were unable to find the cache.
That was our day in Cromwell. Didireh + I drove and walked around and did some caches. That was difficult. We walked trough over and around the hill and we need time to found the hide out. Mamma Mia! The whole base was full of thyme and our cloths were smelling after that as we went back to the car. But we found it! TFTC!
Have a friend who worked over there, to think about it, he`s a bit unstable too TFTC.
Got a bit wet from the long grass, bottom of the car got a good clean too.
Found on our Invercargill to Christchurch road trip. Thanks to all the Cache Owners. SL TFTC.

Made a point of not missing the turnoff this time Lovely spot to relax and stretch the legs! TFTC!!
The road to this cache is part of the reason I wanted a new car! Plenty of ground clearance and allwheel drive, and my new car has been christened! Still love the smell of thyme. TFTC
Good to get another letter, very good hidey hole and I wasn't keen to poke my hand in but very handy stick close by. Bit more of an effort than the terrain indicates, don't be fooled that it's a quick drive-by cache allow about a 30 minute round trip, from leaving state highway.

Walked to and around the Cairnmuir Slide (with permisssion) last week so it was great to be able to see the slide from across the lake. Fabulous to see this amazing construction. TFTC.
Our 500th find!!!! Left our Kitten TB to celebrate. The 93rd find of 150 in 5 days on road trip with Ingidayna. TFTC
Excellent cache - many thanks. My favourite one of the day. A great spot with neat views and some cool rocks. Cache is dry and in mint condition.
Hadn't read the description beforehand so missed the turnoff initially (the co-ords were helpful though, cheers). Was driving a low-slung rental car which struggled on the rutted road below GZ. Recommend future cachers with low-slung rental cars park them at the flat area about 300m before GZ, and walk from there.
