Had a good hard look. Did not find. Enjoyed a picnic lunch at the nearby tables under the shade. Lovely spot.
Came with genghicat to explore Captains Flat. Unfortunately the little cafe and shops that were open last time genghicat was here, have closed. Instead we found ourselves enjoying a drink at the local bar then catching this cache.
Genghicat had found this cache before. It was not in place nor visable elsewhere so unfortunately this adds to our dnfs today.

This was the last cache before lunch so could explain why we didn't find it. Will keep an eye on this one. Kutgw
Well, I am to small for this which meant a little but tricky climb!

Found this cache while completing the Captains Flat trail. Great hide, cache and contents are in good condition. It now has cache creep as I had to jump up to retrieve the cache.
Thanks for placing and maintaining this cache for our enjoyment.

Since doing the Captains flat trail recently we have been keen to do more in the area so today was our chance. Some great caches in the area, found a handful and only one dnf today so it was a great day for it. Windy and showers at times but we cache rain, hail or shine right? Tftc tnln.
Easy find with Sea Reason, while camped overnight in our motorhome in Wilkins Park. We missed the Floating Beer Glass, even though we lunched in the pub, chatted to the publican, and had a shower upstairs. Darn! We just didn't think there'd be one on the pub.

On my way to compete in a night rogaine this evening and a day rogaine tomorrow in the Tallaganda National Park, I took the opportunity to find more of the caches in and around Captains Flat.

We searched a little while for this. Being short I needed a boost. Number 9 today. TFTC
Found with Nissan 65 and Shrimp 92 on a trip up from the coast on a days caching. Thanks for the cache
I'm a shorter person - also 72 yo so jumping/climbing is rather restricted. I did see the cache in plane site as mentioned. I found an item to help me recover it and signed the log. The difficulty was in getting it back to where it was hidden. I jumped and got it up to the edge BUT here is where the data began. I picked up the item that I had used to recover the cache to push it into a better place. After I did this I looked for it from the vantage point mentioned. It was nowhere in sight. I think it might have fallen into a rectangular hole immediately behind it's original resting place. If so, I don't know how you will verify any recent finds. The log was full and I wrote over an older faded record. I'm going to do a maintenance report as I believe it's gone. Sorry slowed - hope you live near here

Today I came to Canberra for my 4th (!) visit to the Russian Embassy, where I was finally granted my visa so I can visit St Petersburg next month. Phew! Given it was such a nice day, especially compared to the torrential rain of the last few days where I live, I decided to hit the Captains Flat Trail and keep working towards getting to 3000 finds by the end of the month. I ended up getting about half of the trail and a handful of other finds so all up not a bad day out. I appreciate the research and effort that went into this series.
As for this specific cache: The second of two quick finds on a flying visit to the town after getting bogged down the road. Seen from the right angle and fortunately not too difficult a grab for me. The log is full but I managed to squeeze my initials in. Very nice memorial here. TFTC!

Out on a fun weekend run with slink1 and dunko. Signed log, many thanks to slowdad for the effort and placement of this cache TNLN SL.
Slink1 and I planned this outing with an overnight stay in Canberra to coincide with other activities that needed taking care of. So a road trip it was and we covered about 1600km and collected 119 caches along the way. A good result. Many thanks to slowdad for the cache TNLN TFTC SL.
Generally caching these days for our teams tends to be an impromptu escape providing a change of pace to the working life. Drive, Walk, Ride, Climb and Crawl etc. well you get the drift. This weekend it was a planned outing with an overnight stay in Canberra." Road Trip" On this trip we covered some 1600km fetching 119 caches in route. End result here, happy faces all round with stories to tell . Many thanks to slowdad for the effort and placement of this cache TNLN SL.
Suscoe had a big day out today with a trip to Captain's Flat.
A magnificent day emerged as we went along the road.
A cold morning gradually eased into a pleasant day with loads of sunshine and a gentle breeze.
We found a delightful range of caches as we went through this terrific countryside.
Suscoe enjoyed a well earned lunch in the park today.
A quick search and soon the right spot was found.

Spent to-day with the missus finding caches along the Captains Flat Road and around Captains Flat and surrounds. Came home with a swag to TBs. TFTC.
Coming back into town we picked a few caches that were not D1.5 T1.5. A bit of a read of this one and we guessed the likely hide and soon felt the nano. We added our initials and replaced. TFTC.
Found on a weekend caching blitz to the ACT with Hoojar and The Rats. We came, we saw, we biked, we walked, we had plenty of fun along the way .
Our Friday night comprised of a trip out to Captains Flat- a few wombats, some kangaroos and a couple of foxes. A relatively quiet road Friday night. TFTC!
No trouble for us in the darkness.

[Teal]Came down to Canberra for a weekends caching with Hoojar and steeba. Taking advantage of the perfect weather conditions we had two great days riding our bikes around some of the newer powertrails that dot the city and suburbs.
We did this trail (CFT) on Friday night, taking about 4 hours from start to finish. While we didn’t get to seen any of the scenery we see most forms of wildlife.
Thanks to the CO for placing these caches. My apologies for the generic log but it doesn’t detract from the fun we had finding them.

After a few weeks of planning, and a number of attempts to align calendars, this weekend I came down to Canberra and the ACT area for a big weekend of caching with The Rats and steeba. On bikes, on foot, and in the car, we targeted a number of series and Power Trails placed since our last trip down here. The weather was perfect, the company exemplary, and the numbers achieved exceeded my expectations. It was a very long and tiring weekend, but of course it was also extremely satisfying!
Friday night saw us heading from Queanbeyan To Captains Flat via the CFT. Many times in and out of the car, but a great way to hit up some fast numbers. We got back to Queanbeyan four hours after we left.
Thanks to the all of the cache owners for placing their caches. Sorry for the mainly generic logs.
Cheers

The RoddyCs are visiting Canberra for Easter We set aside today to find 100 caches to complete a challenge. This is the last of BettyBoo3747's challenges we have to complete, so we have a great day for it around Jerrabomberra then down to Captains Flat.
This cache wasn't in plain sight. We had to stand on each other to get to it - and had as much fun returning it.
Found at 5.10pm on 31st March 2016. TFTC.

Well that's a nice find thanks. We had lunch here after doing the trail. Great place for peace and quiet. Tftc
Ahh, excellent the WEEO made the find while I was watching him from the picnic table eating my lunch. He suggested that it would take me longer to find it than he did, and caught on when I wanted to place a wager on that. Thanks for the cache SlowDad.
Today, I had planned a big day of caching with Loci612 and Ambi666. We started early, going past a few caches in Woden (where I managed to rip a massive hole in my pants at cache #1 for the day!) before going out to WhereFore! Art Thou?. From there, we headed down Captains Flat Rd, picking up the caches in the Captains Flat Trail on our way. It has been a while since I have had to do the ol' powertrail 'duck and roll' technique (just joking, we carefully stopped at each cache and made the find). We got to cache #42 in the series before finally heading over to the event.
We arrived at the event to find people searching for one of the new caches! Eventually the CO showed up and enlightened us about its whereabouts and we all claimed a joint First to Find! After that, I enjoyed a nice lunch at the pub and saw some cool bar tricks. When the event had wrapped up, Loci612, Ambi666 and I headed out to do a few more caches around Captains Flat. From there, we hit the trail again and collected almost all the remaining caches except for #69. We finished up the day with a couple of caches in Queanbeyan including a tree climb (which Loci happily climbed ). Thanks to all the COs whose caches I found today! The grand total for the day was 87!

Out for a huge day caching with The Storm Man, with the goal of breaking his best-day-of-caching record by getting 200 caches. Not the easiest thing to do in the ACT, but we were up for the challenge.
We got up at 5am and drove out to the HMAS trail. With only a few DNFs and most of the puzzle caches found we were able to complete this series on bike by 1pm, then it was off for a quick lunch break before hitting the new CTF trail by car all the way to Captains Flat. We bumped into many different caching groups heading the other way coming back from the day's event. Only 1 DNF on this series and even some time for a few local caches.
We left Captains Flat at 8:30pm knowing we were sitting roughly on 180 caches, we still needed about 20 more to get across the line, and the sun had well and truly gone.
As we drove back I looked through the maps to see what we could manage doing and decided on a night time walk through the Kowen Pine Forest. So at 9:00pm armed with our head torches and iPhones we began our walk through the Cache Constellation Trail. Very still and pleasant this time of night, with only 1 DNF we got back to the car at 11:15pm. Enough time to pick up a few single traditionals around Queanbeyan before midnight just to make sure we were well and truely over the 200 mark.
All in all a huge yet fantastic day.
Thanks StormMan for the fun and thanks to all the geocachers who placed these caches for us to find today. (Sorry for generic log.)

2:05pm 26/3 - After the Captain's Flat Meet and Greet, found a couple of the local caches with Cankid and Loci612.

I was on my way out of town after the Captains Flat Meet n Greet Event thinking to come back when it was a bit cooler and grab some caches when I saw a huddle of cachers around this one. Seeing that (the tall) cankid was amongst them I thought I should not miss this opportunity for one that may be out of my reach. He kindly offered to assist, and I graciously accepted. Thanks for the cache slowdad (and cankid for the reach)
Day nineteen of the Southern NSW Lounge About with BettyBoo3747.
A bit of an early start, we hit the Captain's Flat Trail by 8am, and just made it to the Event by high noon.
Spent a while at the Pub, and then completed a few more around the town.
We finished up by finding a couple we had DNFed on the way in.
Interesting history of the wheel.
Spotted the little bugger, and was just tall enough to grab it.
Thanks, Robmc.

# 10421. Robmc and I had a very early start this morning as our intention was to hit the CFT Trail early with the hope of completing it before The Event started at noon. We signed the first one at 8.00am and with the inclusion of Carwool Church, 2 DNF's and # 70 unattempted we arrived for lunch just before noon. That was 68 before lunch - not too bad. Thanks to the kindness of Cankid & friends who provided us with the clues we had missed along the way we were able to sign off on # 70 after lunch. We also managed to find and sign the elusive # 62 and # 69 this afternoon on the way back to town.
This was the first of 13 found in the area after lunch. Fortunately Rob could reach the cache and our names are now in the log.
Thanks slowdad

Find 36 on our geocaching weekend. Thanks to a fellow cacher from event nearby who was tall enough to reach it.
A nice place for a cache! Definitely a stretch for most people however I was lucky enough to be able to reach the darn thing After getting a boost from Cankid anyway to see it from above rather than feeling in unknown places! TFTC, found after recent event. We signed as "CAL" meaning our joined group of Cankid, Ambi666 and Loci612
Drove from Majors Creek having camped there last night & pulled up under a shady tree to checkout nearby caches - this one 13 metres away. Tested my balance & made a quick find. Several waymarking categories in the vicinity as well. Thanks.
Joelisa was coming up to visit and do some caching and left it up to me to figure out what we would do. Decided to try and crack 200 for caches in a day and after talking to some friends figured the HMAS series would be a good place to start. Armed with camelbacks, head torches, snacks and bikes, Joelisa and I started the trail at 6am (still dark). We finished the trail at 1pm with only 2 trad DNF's, 1 puzzle DNF and 3 other puzzles that we didn't find the coords too, probably because we forgot to look for them. Loved this trail. It wasn't too hard to ride and was really tight so made for some quick finds.
Once we had had a quick lunch break it was off to the newly created Captains Flat Trail. Bumped into some other cachers as we made our way through this trail. Very nice to meet you all. Only one DNF on this one, although some took longer to find than others. At the end of this trail we continued on into Captains Flat town where we found a few more before heading back into Queanbeyan. Thanks StrangeTrousers for creating the trail.
We still needed more caches and needed them to be close to each other. Joelisa made the call to go for a night cache of the Kowen Constellation Trail. By this point I was getting weary and was sceptical about this idea but went along with him anyway. Turns out it was a lot quicker than I thought and the walk was so easy.
We had about 45mins left before midnight so we made a dash for a few more finds in Queanbeyan just to top the day off. Don't know what the final count is but after a quick review of the day we knew we cracked 200.
Thanks to everyone who created all these caches and for the cool places it took us. Thanks Joelisa for keeping me going when I was close to giving up.

#1284 Lets just say I needed a boost. Visiting from Canberra with the Green-martian, cache was found and logged. Will need to return to find the others as time has run out for today. Thanks slowdad.
"no climbing unless you are a shorty".
Even though being taller by several cms than the average female I couldn't reach, so I guess you might call me a "shorty", but I suspect the average Australian height of about 168.7cm (based of 2011-12 ABS figures) would be a shorty here too. So, unless someone is taller than average, I would suggest bringing a stool. Besides that, easy to find and a good area to have a cache . TFTC slowdad.

Our 2nd day in Canberra . Have set our caravan up at the EPIC.
Todays caches were all bout the Captains series, only a couple of DNFs & a few bonus caches along the way that were not part of the series.
Took a while to spot the cache, had to use a stick to get it down. I think the terrain rating should be a little highter
Thanks for placing this cache slowdad

Day 10 of our month long escape from Tassie. Too many caches in Canberra, don't know our way around and a bit overwhelming so decided to head out of town on a rather warm day. Just as well one of our team qualifies as a non short person! TFTC
Found during a pit stop in this little town with a lot of history. First time back here in a long time, few changes. TFTC slowdad
Took a little while to spot it as I wasn't expecting it up there. I managed to jump and knock it down to get it signed. Placed it back there again. I must be one of those short peoples. TFTC slowdad.
Well, we found it, but we couldn't sign the log so Mum said we can't claim it. We'll have to come back next time with Dad, he's tall enough to reach it!
We can see it but couldn't retrieve despite using a magnetic tool and every stick at our disposal. I'm fairly tall for a woman but no way I can reach it even on tippy toes. Even tried to hoist JetFuselage up to no avail. Jumping not an option with my slow healing broken toe.

Today I headed out to Captain's Flat. I've not been out this way for years. Not much has changed, just the same sleepy little town & mine ruins.
It took me ages to find this one. I was ready to give it up when I decided one last look from a new angle and found it. The log is utterly full and needs replacing.
Thanks for the cache slowdad.

Headed to captains flat with the defence force academy for some leadership exercises. Great sleepy little town. Came back with the geokids and graceashmac. Heading into the pine forests. In plain sight is an understatement, surprised this hasn't been muggled. Log will need replacing soon only two spots left. TFTC
Loved visiting this sleepy little town, we were just passing through on the way into the forest to explore. We will be back to do some of the others another day. Found with Graceash and geokids. Log will need replacing very soon only 2 spots remaining. Tftc
#3049 - 11:45; I had initially declined the offer to head out today with Sol de lune to grab a few caches and trigs around Captains Flat, but a last minute change of plans saw me end up joining Sol for a morning run. We had picked up a couple by this stage and were ready to head back towards the big smoke when Sdl pulled over for me to grab this one on the way past, as he found it about 5 years ago. We inspected the likely areas before making the find. Log signed and cache replaced, it was off to the next one. TFTC slowdad
Nice. Love the wheel... no climbing but the biggest jump icould summon! Tftc! I've really enjoyed looking around this town!
We are staying in Canberra and decided that we would head off early and do a run out to Captains Flat and have a look around. Lovely countryside and history and this was one of the caches we were able to find. Thanks to slowdad for placing this cache and Happy New Year.
After a late night last night with a group event, todays mini mission was a little later to kick off than normal. Today specimenX and myself decided to go for a drive out to Captains Flat and make some collections.
With all the commotion going on with the ambulances, police, fire-engines and the Southcare helicopter, we decided to head over to this one and park up for a little while. We parked in the rest area and chose a table to sit on while having a drink and a small break. The helicopter had landed on the oval in front of us and was awaiting their patient it seems. We were advised by one of the locals that someone had fallen down the dam wall, that cant be good at all.
After a while, we had finished our break and we got back to the business at hand. Time to find the cache lol. Checked from many angles and it was eventually spotted by specimenX however it was slightly out of reach. This is where a makeshift ladder was created (by means of my back lol) and specimenX was now within reach and cache within hand. Logging duties performed and cache was replaced.
The Southcare helicopter was still on the oval, and awaiting its patient.
Thanks for the cache placement slowdad

Checked from many angles and it was eventually spotted by specimenX however it was slightly out of reach. This is where a makeshift ladder was created (by means of my back lol) and specimenX was now within reach and cache within hand. Logging duties performed and cache was replaced.
The Southcare helicopter was still on the oval, and awaiting its patient.
Thanks for the cache placement slowdad
Saturday had arrived! So that meant Rapidlywild and I were off on another geomission full of fun and frivolity cruising around the Captains Flat area
As we arrived at this one, thee was a medical emergency in progress involving ambulance, fire, police, SES over at the dam and the Southcare chopper had not long touched down on the oval nearby. After having a sit and a drink and a chat with a local about what was happening it was on with the search. Luckily for us the muggles were far enough away, so then after we checked out a few spots I stood back and checked things out from a different angle-ahhh there's the little bugger! But I just could not reach it Anyway, with the assistance of Rapidlywild's rump, up I stepped to gain the extra height I needed to make the grab. So then with caching duties completed (easier to return than to retrieve!) We were off for more.
Thanks for the hide, slowdad

[red]My humble apologies for the late log...[/red]
After living away from home for 6 months, I have managed to find all my caching associated paperwork / notes & photo's so I can (finally) log all my finds... Found this while House Sitting in Jerangle...
My sincerest thanks to all the cache owners for their hides & all the effort gone into them & I'm sorry for the generic log... I have seen many beautiful area's that I would not of seen or experience if not for your hides...
Thanks for bringing me here and for the cache... You live in a beautiful part of Oz...

We decided to head out of the local area today to collect our smiley's, so our choice was to head to Captains Flat as FFLLNo2 had not been out to this area before.
We spotted this one from the car which was lucky as there was a muggle family playing in the park.
