I started this cache last week, but bearings are not my strong point, and I knew I was bound to stuff it up, so I had a quick read and a look at the initial location and headed home, where I did some homework. I returned today to continue, armed with the necessary information to proceed. I found the first waypoint without too much hassle, and was pleased to find the required numbers to continue on. I did some projecting and headed off to the place I had projected to, where I found nothing, Half an hour later I had still found nothing. I messaged the CO and headed back to WP1 to check both the coordinates there and my projection. I returned to aa very slightly different WP2 and what do you know, a short green pole was found lurking in the long grass, This pole had a taller friend, and also the had the coordinates for the final GZ. I trotted off and braved many spikey bushes and spider webs to get to the cache. This was an epic journey that took quite a while to complete. I felt great after I had succeeded. I don't give out many favorite points but I am giving one here. Epic!

Find #13099

Another lunch time find for me today. I needed a multi for my daily calendar challenge so headed over. There were some quite muddy spots around here, but managed to make the find without getting wet feet. This one has been on the to do list for a while. Lots of small ants at GZ but a quick brush off and they were gone.

Massive thanks go to k0mpass for placing this one.

Big things are continuing to happen! *Are you joining the fun again in 2022?*

This proved to be quite a jaunt around the lake. It took a few minutes to find the tower - almost hidden by trees and with our projected coordinates we headed off to the first waypoint and surprisingly spotted the post quite quickly. We then projected the coordinates for the next waypoint and again after a short search we found the post and had coordinates for the final. A short search revealed the container. We decided to take the shortcut given in the container but found our path blocked by an extended area under an inch or two of water. Oh well - it will have to be the long way. Thanks to k0mpass for the cache and the walk around the lakes.

Off taking a sneaky look for the new 5/5 geocache somewhere in this area after work. No luck on that project, but thought I'd take a look in this area too. Previous visits to this park and I thought it was a very wet area. Today was no exception and probably shouldn't have been wearing a suit. Especially when getting back to the car and I discovered that the mud went up and past my knees.

Lovely park to walk around, except for all the water. Sorry but not a park I'd take my geopuppy too. She loves laying down in every puddle and I'd still be walking around trying to find this geocache with a drowned doggy.

Getting to GZ, I was standing there wondering where I would hide a geocache and just saw it sitting there looking at me.

On way back to the car, I thought I'd take the "Stepping Stones" but I couldn't find them. Maybe they exist under the large wading pool.

Thanks for the cache k0mpass

Well that was a fun multi with a few different elements to it! I can see why Sandy would have loved it, Harvey certainly did. The area around GZ would have been a fair bit different when this cache was placed I imagine.

The smallest member of TeamJusar has just started walking so thought this would be a good spot to practice (a bit longer than we expected though!).

Thanks for the cache!

WP2 has been discovered! Woo Hoo almost done!

I call this a 'big dog's park' and my small fluffy white Banjo looked a little out of place. That's not to say he didn't enjoy it – he did immensely. Banjo gives Sandy a woof salute for a good choice of park Smile
I've tried this cache a few times now (yes, Banjo is starting to know the way). First try I couldn't find WP1 (my projection was not at all what it should have been). Second go was with [@LetThemEatCache](http://coord.info/PRWP5X4) so quickly. LTEC's eagle eyes spotted the sneaky information and we were on our way again.
WP2 was tricky, we spent around half an hour looking for the pole but to no avail. Not to worry we thought, we'll be back.
That brings me to today. I thought let's take Banjo to Sandy's favourite park and while I'm there I'll have another hunt for WP2. LTEC was at work and I thought if I could sort out this WP I'd call and see if she would like to finish the hunt with me. It was a glorious day but no luck with the WP.
There was only one more thing to try and that was a [@spiffy-](http://coord.info/PR6VBPJ) . A spiffy- is a special caching method whereby the gps is tossed aside and intuition, google maps and a keen eye are used instead. I checked the hint, I sussed out some likely spots, I hunted around but no luck today. My spiffy- senses need fine tuning I suspect.
So it is that this cache has not been found by me and Banjo. On to the watch list it goes. In the meantime thank you k0mpass and Sandy for introducing us to this fabulous park.

My second visit here, first time I started and then ran out of time. Today I had all the time in the world and thanks to my earlier hard work this was a much shorter walk this time.
I haven't had my own dog since I have lived in the suburbs. Last time I had one it enjoyed the 10 acres I lived one back in the late 1990's.
Thanks k0mpass for the cache, the adventure, the hunt and the fun.

Out on a nice day for a bit of caching. Dropped child at school and no work for me today I could finally get this cache. It had been on my to do list for a while now. Got to the first stage and understood the instructions, putting them into the phone was another matter altogether. With much frustration I conceded defeat and unfortunately had to paf. Now finally on the right track all I had to do was find the cache. There was a lovely couple walking their dog so I had to wait a little before venturing into the wilderness.
After a bit of bush bashing I finally had the cache in hand. Signed the log and returned the cache to it's little hiding spot. A favourite point from me for making me really stretch my brain, and the lovely walk. Thanks for the cache.

Nice walk.

Wow this one took an age, having tried to figure out the coordinates several times using multiple tools I never got anywhere that landed in the park. Fortunately I walk my dog here twice a day so I had plenty of opportunities to look for clues. I have been looking for yellow star pickets and posts everywhere. I'm the end I started an examination every post I could find and two days ago found one in an area I'd not been before. Attached to that (not yellow but rusted color now) post was attached that something with coordinates on it. Armed with the coordinates and my eagle eyed daughter, I quickly had the cache in hand. I signed the log and must admit felt relief that I could finally stop examining these damn posts when walking the dog. Giving this a favorite as it consumed my time for about four months while walking my dog. Never worked out what the clue meant but greatful to finally mark this off my list. Thanks for the cache!

After nearly 12 years , I have replaced the magnets at the waypoints. Both were actually still there. But one was solidly stuck to the post and I had to hit it with a rock to remove it!. The other the magnet had disintegrated and the metal with co-ords was sitting in the dirt at the bottom of the post. The sistema container was looking a bit brittle so thats replaced too. Ready for another 10+ years!

In a couple of years the celltower will be completely hidden by trees, but for now you can still (just) see it.

Out for a walk with Manfred the geo dog, we thought it was fitting to attempt this one! Thanks for placing the cache k0mpass, I enjoyed the walk!

This multi has been sitting on my map unfound for far too long given its so close to home too. I had gathered the information for it last year and just didn't know how to do projections, so it just sat in my notes until a time came where I knew what to do. A few days ago I had met up with a fellow (more wise and experienced) caching friend whom I discussed this cache with. Luckily for me they had done this one (10 years ago) and were able to show me what to do here to get to GZ.

Today was the day to finally got to GZ and hopefully find the cache as it has been just under a year ago when it was found last. Much can change in that time. Our walk took us to an area I had only been to twice before. It's a great area to come to with the dog and I'm not sure why I didn't bring Roxy with me today. Maybe because she would go bonkers in the lake/wetland area and the long grass. There was that worry of snakes.

At GZ I was pleasantly surprised to find the original container still there. I had a good look through and a read of the very first logs. The cache and log was in good condition. It was filled with lots of trinkets.

I think I'll have to bring Roxy here more often and I'm sure it will become one of her favourite parks too just like Sandy.

Thank you for the adventure and cache here k0mpass

Had a quick morning walk around the lake before heading to Parkmore shopping for xmas spree. Nice lake nearby. Enjoy this multi and found it. Thanks k0mpass for placing this multi.

Found the "green post" but couldnt the attached item. Not sure if its missing or we just missed it!

21-Apr-19
We were in the area and decided to attempt this multi. At the starting point, it was quite difficult to spot the desired item as the view seems a little obscured. But with some coordinates entered, we were off. WP1 and WP2 were both found without too much problem. At GZ, the cache was easily found. Clearly this reserve is much loved by quite a few 4 legged friends as we encountered a few walking with their two legged companions. TFTC k0mpass.

Kudos to EliandEdi for doing the hard yards and working out the final coordinates. Smile Tagged along for the final leg to be a part of the find.

With loads of help from a cache friend, I was allowed to tag along to the final destination of this cache! Xx

This one was a while in the making. First attempted it mid-last year when we really didn't know what we were doing. Slowly it started to make more sense. I did receive some help from a previous finder which was very much appreciated. With the coords for GZ in hand, we went for a walk at lunchtime to make the find. Cache in good condition and only a few minor scratches inflicted in getting to it. Shout out to Jen and Kath for making the find with me.

#1552 Started this one a few weeks ago when we were nearby finding Phar Lap Woz Here. That late afternoon we started at the nominated co-ordinates and blissfully ignored the suggestion to go right and instead went left and ended up having to make a longer path to WP1. Arriving there it was almost dark and could not spot any posts in the vicinity. Vowed to return another day. Well that day has now come! A blank P366 day so what better excuse to come out and continue with this one (and take geo-dog for a good walk). Retook readings from the start again and this time ended up within about 10 m of the post which as previous logs have suggested only has a hint of its former green-ness remaining. This was about 5 metres closer than previously and daylight made things much easier. Took a while to actually find what I needed but then my projection was done and off I set. Arrived at WP2 and couldn't find what I needed to. Then realised I may have done an unnecessary calculation. Re calculated but still no joy. Decided I needed to double check my original projection so returned to WP1 (the long way, spotting a nice healthy specimen of a fox on the way who eyeballed us and didn't flinch a muscle) Back at WP1 redid the projection and returned to WP2, this time probably only 8 metres or so from where I had landed last time ( I am wondering if I did my projection from my original WP1 attempt and not my successful 2nd attempt) Anyway, this time it was success and WP2 and it's clue were revealed. Off finally to GZ which took a couple of checks to see which was the best avenue of approach. At GZ had no trouble finding the cache, I am wondering if previous finder Fleabag may have a job as a dry-stone waller, the cache hide was so neatly presented. Grabbed the cache and upset 10's of thousands of ants in the process. Retreated and signed log before returning the cache and doing my best to recreate the neat concealment. Had to bail before perfection was achieved as I reckon several hundred of those ants were now clinging to me. Retrieved nearby geo-dog who was tied to a nearby tree to stop her from helping and made good our exit. It was then a long walk back to the car. Just as well we started with an almost full waterbottle as by the end it was getting a bit low. I reckon we did the equivalent of 2.5 -3 laps around the entire park in the end. TNLNSL. TFTC k0mpass, got me digging much deeper into the GPS's menus than usual, but will I remember for next time? I think a fav is deserved for the navigational challenges along the way. I think geo-dog was happy to get home so she could have a nice long sleep!

I did this as a 2 part multi over 2 trips. Maonly because the first day was 40 degrees. The 2nd WP with rhe yellow picket needs some love but I found what I needed as coords are spot on. GZ was prickly to enter but cache all good. Nice location and walk. Fav given. Thanks to k0mpass for the placement and fun.

I was in the area for work today and had a little free time. This cache was a fun adventure despite (or perhaps because of) none of the waypoints being as expected.
I had no luck with the info at WP1 but I worked out some likely locations and found WP2 without too much trouble.
The post at WP2 has lost most of it's green paint and now looks red until you get quite close. The info here is still accessible.
I was expecting a standing yellow star picket at Wp3 but it was lying on the ground. Again the required coords were quickly obtained.
My troubles at gz were completely self generated and after I had searched around for the cache for quite a while before I checked my photo of the coords and realized I had entered them incorrectly. Once I was searching in the right area the container was quickly located.
Thanks k0mpass for the cache. a fav point for the adventure.

The information required at the first waypoint (bearing and distance for next waypoint) is missing. I have contacted CO multiple times but have not received a response. Without this information, the multi-cache cannot be completed (other than by pure blind luck or a PAF).

Out and about tonight trying to push myself to reach my 1700th find after a busy day at uni today. So after driving around waterways for an hour hunting some rare pokemon on pokemon go. Sadly none of the desired ones I wanted were found but lucky for me it was my time to find some treasures in my other location based hobby.

This was the first one that i found tonight and I only struggled a little bit with the first waypoint. But with a little phone call soon enough this little mystery had revealed itself and I was soon at the final

I have walked these paths before. Night time. Night caching with jeremy1991 & samantha1991. Wrong turn. Lovely moonlit stroll by myself whilst they were not far away, on track.
Little did I realise that when I finally caught up with them we were within range of the next point of interest for this cache. But thas was a few years back and I finally decided today was the day to pay my respects to Sandy.
Caching alone in areas like this is somewhat surreal.
Skinks, lizards, spiders, a friendly family of magpies. An assortment of water birds.
Some clever waypoints and a cache. Smile
At one stage I imagined I had seen a black dog dart into the undergrowth but it may well have been the shadow of a passing light aircraft. Wink
Thank you for bringing me here and for the cache k0mpass. [^]

Yay!! We solved this one over a couple of visits, learnt some new skills, still finding prickles in my clothes now though. We were amazed at how extensive this parkland is. Thanks for the adventure and thanks for the cache!

With cjfinda we had discovered the first clues with some painstaking searches on an earlier excursion. But having discovered that the final points were far away we decided to return on a beautiful afternoon to claim the prize. Our final coords were spot on, so we were quickly in search of GZ. It was a prickly battle to reach the cache, but then a quick find. Not the place for shorts and t-shirts, and wish I had remembered my gloves. I am constantly amazed by the size of Melbourne's parks and wetlands, a real treasure. TFTC

Out chasing a few multis with OHC today. Wondered how we'd get the projection spot on but after a short search and a small adjustment we'd found the first clue. Nice walk in a peaceful area and a good cache at the end. Thanks k0mpass Smile

Woo hoo! Another long standing challenge for me off the list. When I first started caching I avoided coordinate projections and this one (with the added complication of True Vs Magnetic) seemed a little too hard. As my Garmin experience has progressed I certainly felt more confident to tackle this. I was in the area a few weeks back and had some time to spare so got started on this one. No problems at the posted coordinates as the required information was observed and the first projection made. I wasn't brimming with confidence so was very pleased when I was guided to within a few metres of the steel post. Gathered the information here, took a waypoint and attempted the next projection. Got caught on the wrong side of the 'natural obstacles' and decided to pull the pin and head off to the caching event in the nearby Braeside Park.

This interlude gave me time to plot and check my projection and I few weeks later I headed back brimming with confidence. This will be easy now, right? Once I got to my calculated spot my optimism ebbed away as I couldn't find the star picket. I tried to take the approach of a few previous finders by searching the general area as it seemed likely (again based on previous clues) that I was close to the right spot. I guess I had an outside chance of finding the next waypoint or maybe even stumbling on the cache. To use the analogy from SirJ-Oz's log I guess it was my turn to be the bug! I did find a star picket in the general area but unfortunately no coordinates so I guess my projection was out and most likely (given it has been found recently) I didn't find the correct start picket. I retired defeated resolving to come back another day.

In the meantime I did invoke the help of a PAF to check I was in the right spot. This gave me some helpful guidance and a few days later I was back for round three. Parking in the usual spot I made my way on foot to a familiar area. This time I did a methodical sweep and sure enough I happened on the cache. I'm still none the wiser as to where the final WP is but maybe my projection wasn't too far out after all. In any case I was pleased to get my name in the log book for this one. Took nothing, left nothing, singed log and visited some trackables. Thanks for a clever multi approach and for the cache k0mpass. This one earns a favourite point from me.

While walking through the area I challenged myself to re-find one of my favourite early cache finds entirely from memory. I did so surprising quickly. More crucially I picked up the two trackables [RiMa's Edelweiß; Adventure Bunny] as they'd been stationary for a while.

Had a great time walking around with GeoJill, 4bait, Mark9375, Jascat, mazza g and the Papillons. Interesting one to attempt at night, but with the coordinates worked out and many eyes to find the waypoints and cache we were successful and each walked away with a smiley.
Dropped a tb.

Out and about with 4bait, mark9375 , Ruverbug Jam Jascat, mazza-g and the papillons. Decided to do this after some night caching and what an excellent park this is. Will definitely come back in daylight just for a wander. The brains trust kicked in and after trying to avoid some prickles, the cache was located. TFTC

We met up with a group and completed a couple of night caches around the woodlands industrial estate area in Braeside after that some people went home and a few crazys like us decided to stay on and seek a few more and we kept going till about 1am. This was a nice walk and a nice night caching it was good fun and glad we had the brains trust like ruverbugjam, jascat and others to nut out the way ponits TFTC

After doing a few night caches in the area tonight someone suggested this one be done. I was happy to call it a night but couldn't let this opportunity go by to
take advantage of the brains in the group to work out the calculations to find this cache. So I tagged along, got some steps in, shown the torch around and helped looked for the cache. Great work by the team. TFTC

26-Aug-16
After doing some other night caches in the area someone suggested that we attempt this one. Not wanting to miss out on the chance of another smiley I decided to tag along. With many hands on deck to do the calculations we were soon locating the cache and all signing the log. TFTC

**Find #718 at 9:40:59 PM on 26/08/2016**

A group on the facebook page had organized a gathering to get a nearby night cache, after we completed some people left to go home, the few people that did stay decided to join us with this cache,

As we parked back a bit we walked to the starting coordinates, we spotted something high up in a tree with a signed pointing up saying CCTV, it looked a lot like a geocache so with that in mind this cache instantly turned into a T4.5 Tree climb lol, me being the smallest....and the youngest was picked apon to have a look at this weird object, once i was in the tree i looked and it was just a back massager full of ants, i jumped out of the tree and then we moved onwards to find this cache,

We Walked a bit further until we found ourselves at the listed coordinates, over the horizon i could just see a glimpse of a cell phone tower, jotted down our compass reading and walked to stage 2 Ruverbug Jam being the one doing all the calculations with a few helping she knew where to go, so following her we hoped she didn't make any mistake, we soon found the green post and our next information tag,

we then moved to the next point still chatting about caching, we then got to the next point..got the coordinate readings and moved onwards to find the cache, a nice easy find with many prickly bushes around,

**Thanks to k0mpass for this lovely cache!**

**I Visted trackables and dropped one too**

Took a while to get done but everything remains in place despite it being placed in 2009. Nice little bit of wilderness out here and I'm glad I visited it in the daylight so have a rudimentary idea of it when I come back for the nightcache at some point.
Oh, I think I did see Sandy or perhaps her progency at WP1 as I was inputting the figures into c:geo.

This one took quite a bit of head scratching and calculating but finally we worked out some plausible co-ords. We confirmed this with a PAF and then trekked off to make the find. The cache was a little exposed so we were able to find it quite easily. We signed the log book and covered it up as best we could. Thanks k0mpass.

28-Jun-16
In the company of the McLookers and Tomstache, we decided to attempt this multi and hope for the best with our bearing skills. After sometime we decided we had what was needed to find GZ so with a quick PAF and confirmation we headed for our new GZ. The container was found in the open so after adding our names to the log we hid it as best we could.
Thanks K0mpass for sharing Sandy and your walking path with us.

Excellent, excellent, excellent. Maybe it's a sign that I should be orienteering instead or something, but to be honest I'd trade several dozen kerbside micros for another of these. The area was quite unfamiliar and the doggy theme genuinely affecting; I wish my own current dog was sturdy enough for walks of this nature. I'm actually a little surprised that I managed the first step quite successfully, ending up within a few metres of the described feature, given that my GPS (well, a phone with c:geo) doesn't actually have a magnetometer and I had to prepare in advance to go low-tech. And at *both* the intermediate steps I initially convinced myself the info wasn't actually there, but it very much was, of course. Thanks a lot k0mpass!

Find #1747. Found @ 18:45.

Multi find #13 of my Multi-March adventure.

I feel like I made a real pigs breakfast of this multi. I had been visiting a client not too far away and finished up earlier than expected, so decided to swing past here before my regular Thursday evening dinner plans.

I parked close to WP1 and took the bearing as instructed, calculated a location then made my way to WP2. I figured that there was some uncertainty but was confident I'd find the green object.

When I got to my version of WP2, I found nothing. After expanding my search area a bit with still no luck I calculated the line and made my way along it. I pretty soon spotted the now non-green, and vandalised object (with its top missing) and feared the worst. Phew, it's okay, the information is still there.

I used the information and calculated 2 possible locations, neither of which seemed very likely. I went to the first and found that I would have to get wet to achieve the location, so dismissed that idea. I then went to the second, but that seemed to be out of bounds.

I ummed and aahed for a bit, then went back to my first location and tried to get as close as I could, then tried another round about approach. It was at this point that I spotted a pelican flying around, keeping a close eye on me. Perhaps I was getting too close to its home, so I backed off. I managed to get a couple of pictures, but they in no way convey the size of these birds. It was huge!

At this point I decided that I must have mucked up my projection, but instead of backtracking I used the PAF backup plan. Unfortunately my PAF source couldn't remember anything much that would help.

In desperation, I decided that after reading some of the logs, I had an idea of what sort of terrain and foliage I was in for, so started randomly venturing into stupid places.

Some days you're the bug, others the windscreen; today I was the latter. It wasn't too long before I spotted the hide. Woohoo. Definitely not the way in which it was intended, but found none the less.

Interestingly, the log previous to mine seems to be from a twitcher who happened upon the cache.

While out and about on my lovely walk I spotted a pelican, a heron, some ducks, a couple of lorikeets and a bunch of other birds, but sadly no big black dog with a happy grin.

Took nothing, left nothing, signed log and visited some trackables.
Thanks for the cache k0mpass. I also picked up about 15 months of unloved by finding this cache.

Found 16:20. I'd been a little worried about the accuracy of my measurement for the bearing to WP1, but was relieved when I arrived at the object listed in the description and the GPS said 2 meters Big Grin I then had a little more trouble when I realised I'd forgotten how to project a way-point [B)] however once I'd figured that our it was plain sailing the rest of the way. A great cache.

TNLN, thanks k0mpass.

If you are a premium member and you go to the list of all geocaches, sort them in order of oldest first, you have a list of unfound and unloved treasures. For a distance of 50km around Melbourne this one comes up as the one most unloved. The last time it was found was by Nirgal earlier this year and because someone logged their visit from many years ago since Nirgal the computer puts this at the top of the unloved list.
Just a small hiccup in the logic.
The bananas live on this page for it show unloved which means it is too hard for many to do.
This shows a find that has ATTITUDE.

Well this treasure has appeared on this page for such a long time that B1 just had to do it for their 1100 treasure found.
Another unloved is claimed.
Even though it is not official it now takes this treasure from the first page.
On a very wet afternoon the chase was made and to cut a long story shorter don't rely on the quick return instruction to get back to the car unless Noah is your friend.
With the surf up so was our moral. Thanks k0mpass for it is a great place for a walk and it is a pity that there are so many treasures around that this one is not visited more often.
It was made a little harder with the rain as I think even the satelites were soggy with direction today, but thankfully it is made to be found. Well done as the treasure is in perfect condition.

All of the walking I've done lately has worn the rubber from the soles of my boots, resulting in the balls of my feet ending up rather tender at the end of the last rocky hike. The search for an affordable pair of hiking boots took me down to Clayton, close enough to visit this hide and try to knock off another placed date.

There's nothing better than a cache that teaches you a little more about the features of your GPSr and navigation in general. Add that to a good little walk in the sunshine, and you've got a pretty darn good day's entertainment. Once I'd found what I needed at the green post, it was all plain sailing, and it was such a lovely day that I opted to take the longer route to the next point and complete a big figure eight back to the car after signing the log.

Thanks for this fun cache... only eight more placed dates left blank now.

I enjoyed the walk around this park.. I had no idea just how big it was until now.. The day was calm and bar for the grass seeds it was a very enjoyable trip.. capped off by a nice easy find at GZ (after my gps played up at the second waypoint).. I opted for the shorter walk over the wobbly rocks to return to the start.. Thanks KOmpass for the cache and exercise.. Find #3242

Found together with nadya. After grabbing a couple of other caches in the same area, we found that there's still something left there, so we returned the next day and completed the caching run by signing this one and some more.

Thank you for sharing the story and showing this park to us. On our way back a shortcut path was not accessible due to high water level. In the beginning (at wp1) we were a little confused about the calculation and what number is correct but it turned out that accuracy isn't very important here, widening the search area worked well.

Very interesting multi. The coords were a bit off on both WP1 and WP2. TFTC!

Found at 16.00 on a quiet Sunday afternoon caching adventure.

I have to say that this is certainly a unique place. Having visited Braeside Park on a number of occasions, I never even realised this park was just around the corner! My coords for WP1 were about 30m off the target but a quick search of the area revealed what I was looking for.

WP2 and GZ were easy to locate but GZ was especially well protected with its natural defences. Anyway, after trying a couple of different approaches, I managed to find a way "in" after avoiding some nearby jogging muggles. Lots of black dogs in the park today too, by the way!!

Thanks for sharing your story and this great place. TNLNSL.

This has been a labour of love. I have made a real meal of this one for so long, but finally made it to GZ today. A nice walk in the sun. Thanks.

Found @1625 #1235
This is one cache which I have been meaning to do for some time and finally was in the area. This was a very good well layout multi, and a version that is different to your typical multi. In the past I have found it a challenge to do projections and take bearings etc as I just didn't quite understand it all, but today that was different. Found my way to WP2 and to be honest on approach wasn't so sure if I was in the right area but after stopping for a moment to see what was around spotted the object. While reading the info a dog dash past me and I initially thought "dam a muggle, I must look sus right now..." I was on my knees a this point.... But it was the CO k0mpass on an afternoon walk checking up on the cache. Nice to meet you. With the required info I made my way to WP3 and logically I knew I was in the right place and soon enough had what was need to make the final assault. Have never used so many different readings on my GPSr before to find a single way point. The final GZ was a peaceful spot and was pleased to finally have cache in hand. I was very pleased to have long sleeve pants and a jumper on while making the final approach. While walking back to the car heading north was surprised at the distance I had covered and the area in general. Am very pleased to have come here and to me this is the sort of cache which geocaching is all about, a favorite.[^] TFTC k0mpass, left blue marble took nothing.

Having been in the park last week completing the nearby night cache, I thought I should come back in the daylight and have a go at this one. It was an interesting journey, among other things, during which I saw a building with a very appropriate name. I'm not sure if this was intentional, but it did bring a smile to my face. I had trouble reading one of the numbers at WP2, and was tossing up between two possibilities, but after setting off it became apparent that it could only be one of them. The adventure was capped off as I was walking back to the car, by seeing a graceful pelican flying across a lovely sunset over the wetlands. Thanks k0mpass for a memorable cache.

What a fantastic cache! I have put this cache off for soooo long, but tonight, I had to get it done. In fact, the description has been in the car for a matter of months because that was the last time I set out to do it: I never got there though. It was still light enough to see the phone tower thankfully, however that didn't last for very long. Because we were in a rush, we cheated (well, Dad made me). We drove as close to WP2 as we could get because light was running out and we needed to get home. My bearing turned out to be correct and WP2 was about 5m off. However because the post was so obvious and rare, it didn't matter. It took us a few minutes to work out where the object was however we soon worked it out. Nice idea Smile We then projected our WP to find that once again, we could drive sort of close to it. But we didn't fully cheat: we did walk about 2km all up. It was now dark and the torch needed to be turned on, well, that was what we thought anyway. It turned out that it was useless because we could actually see the path under the moonlight. Anyway, we eventually made our way to WP3 going on a bearing 1° too much. We couldn't find it for a long time and we were actually about to give up. And then further down the track, we found another way to approach it and voila! There was the star picket that had been about 2m from us the whole time! We were very thankful that the final box was close by, however it didn't matter because it still took us a little while to work out ho to approach it without getting covered in prickles. I can see how this is much more difficult to do in the night and how it could have been so much easier. Still, a really enjoyable cache in a fantastic area. Thanks heaps k0mpass, I will favourite Big Grin

The kids and I were off to the St Kilda Adventure Playground this afternoon to meet up with some friends for lunch. I was quite happy to sit around the house and have a few hours off before we headed out but the daughter would have nothing of it. I had a number of caches to do by day as I had not found them at night so off we went. On my previous visit I could not see the tower at night so a day trip was essential, I logged the bearing and will be back at night to attempt a find. Thanks for now.

I've had this cache oin my to do list for ages and I had a bit of spare time today. Got the bearing at WP1 then left the car behind for the walk to WP2. Found the post and info, did some calcs then the longer walk to WP3. Took a bit longer to find the star picket but eventually did and the post and the coords for GZ. Made my way through the spikey bushes and found the cache. Enjoyed the walking as it was a rather nice day as well and the things I had to do at each way point. Thanks for the cache.

It seems we somehow missed logging this cache back in 2011 but now in 2013 it is now being done. I remember Mrs Crackers demonstrated the aquatic way to this cache but at least the cache was dry.
Our thanks to k0mpass for the cache

Out and about with Mrs Coffee today Mrs Crackers decided that it would be a good day to finish off this multi so off they went. The cache was found nice and dry at gz but the same couldn't be said for Mrs Crackers by the time she made it back to the car. Her sense of balance isn't always the best. fortunately there was a change of clothes in the car so the ride home wasn't too smelly
Thanks kOmpass for the cache

Checked out the cache after the flood on the 4th Feb 2011. 160mm of rain in less than 24 hours. On the 5th Feb the cache was not reachable due to flooding. On reaching the cache today, it appears that it must have been just above the maximum water level. The contents were all still dry.
The water level in the park is still higher than it has been for years, but the waypoints and cache are reachable, although you might get a bit muddy at the moment. - K0mpass

Now that was fun. Razz
But it sure did test my navigation skills.
And talk about "a couple of natural obstacles" between WP1 and WP2. I tried going to the right of the track, and had to turn back. I tried going to the left of the track and had to turn back. I tried going straight along the track, and had to turn back. On my fourth attempt, I noticed some dog paw prints in the mud and decided to follow them. They led along the right path. Perhaps Sandy's spirit is still in the park. Smile And by the way, the distance and direction were absolutely spot on.
Thanks, k0mpass, for a very entertaining cache.
(I took the "Bilbo the Bilby" TB and left a toy koala, which somehow seemed appropriate.)

I was looking for a nice cache after work and decided to go for this one and the mystery close-by. Well, that was kind of a good idea Very Happy I did like the trip around the water after dark. Some locals were still awake but see for yourself - I took a picture :bad:

Took a bit longer on this one than I should've. Parked at WP1 took sightings and did the math. WP2 simillar. WP3 was a little more difficult. I managed to negotiate a little bridge, but ended up hemmed in 40m away by water. Some hoons were lighting up their tyres near where I'd parked. so headed back a little dejected. Took stock and tried a different route after re-parking - really easy from this point on. Bumped into Robmc and feathertop on the way to GZ. Very nice afternoon's stroll. Thanks for the cache.

A really nice walk on a sunny day. We didn't spot Sandy, but that was not from not covering all corners of the park!
We left the car and walked right (as suggested). A nice wooded area to walk. The bearing turned out not too bad (our objective was in sight!). Information collected and on to the next waypoint.
We were just about to leave the track at the next waypoint, when a familiar head popped up. What are the chances of meeting Squalid on a long multi - but here he was. We walked to, and found the final.
Feathertop and I completed a circumnavigation of the park back to the car.
Great walk.
Thanks, Robmc.

We wondered if we would have time today to do this one but Rob and I were keen and he had brought a compass with him to do WP1 so that was being well prepared wasn't it. We had after all completed the scout series down in Frankston after all.
Before we knew it we were a long way from the car but WP2 was soon found and just before WP3 was found Squalid pops his head out of the scrub.
We couldn't believe it that someone else was doing this one today but there you are.
After logging the cache together we left Squalid and took a wide berth of the lakes lest we get wet feet.
Arrived back at the car after a long stroll.
Thanks for this one

Found @ 4.45pm, #114. This was an interesting journey. We needed to cross this one of the list but I have been avoiding it for a while but decided to give it a go. We found our way to WP1 easy enought, then headed off for WP2, but we found the cache at GZ before we found WP2, we then found WP2.

We found this cache at 2:35pm as the 9th of 17 on our "Yet another drive along the coast to Frankston" afternoon. We followed around the waypoints and luckily had no problems with our projections. We were grateful for the little shortcut map in the cache to enable us to get back to the car. Thanks from D, HA, H & A B-A.

This one took me quite a while to complete today but I really enjoyed the walk and the various elements to this cache. It was with much relief that the cache contained some very useful clues for getting back to my car! I didn't see Sandy but I'm sure she's laughing as she watches cachers trying to follow the directions on this one!

Thanks,

Found in the company of Acts2YouthGroup. Before I started out today I was concerned about the first bearing - I know from experience that it can be difficult to get them reasonably accurate. As it was we (as expected) ended up with different readings and he was closest. Mine was about 20m out but happily the post is unmistakeable.

From then on it was plain sailing and thanks also for the directions back to WP1. Smile

This was cache # 9 of 27 for the day, in the company of Alansee. Once I had received my listen on how to use my compass properly I was sure on what I thought it was, we differed and decided to try both, thankfully my teacher was so good I got it right, the rest was not a problem once I worked out how to do a projection in my gps, you would think I would have that worked out by now, but I have always struggled with it. The directions in the cache were much appreciated. My thanks to k0mpass for the cache.

Really enjoyed this one, compass work a doddle – I was only a few meters out at WP2 - well, its easy when you’re a active Scout leader (1st Mornington Scouts Rule!!!)
Enjoyed the walk around the lake and the usage of the area by the clues. Excellent clues and WP markers.
Will recommend this one to cachers in my area.

This was has been on the radar for a while as it is so close. This afternoon, set out to seek my 250th find. Get to the starting coordinates, Gpsr:check, iPhone:check, compass:check, wife(EB99):check,pen:check, paper:check; OK, ready to go. Now, where is that phone tower. Looking, looking, looking, where is it!!!!...oh, there, right in front of us. Read the instructions and choose to go right. A lovely walk and conversation ensues. Find one post way too early but now know what we're looking for. Find waypoint one and the clue and, what do we do now.
It must be up to me as I was in scouts. Hmmmmmm. If I do this, add this, point that, look over there and point meaningfully and say confidently "that way". Across the fence, over the bridge, through the scrub, across the lake, well almost annnnnnd, no luck. I look here, EB99 looks there 15 minutes later I check my calculations and um, they were, um, wrong. Start heading back to Wpt 1, go about 200 metres when we stop and try to figure where we are in relation to everywhere else, yep, pretty deep stuff.
Finally EB99 looks at me, and as I stare into those beautiful baby browns, I have inspiration. At the same time so does EB99. Working as a team, as one unit, we stride into the distance (having already covered over 4km's) until EB99 shouts "there it is, a yellow thingy" and with that GZ and the cache were quickly in hand.
So a couple of key learnings -
1. read my scout book about compass technique
2. learn how to use all the functions on my gps
3. if it wasn't for geocaching we'd never have ventured in here and had so much fun
4. What a great way to celebrate our 250th find, thanks k0mpass
Great cache

Found after work today around 15:45, The weather was terrific, so a short walk and a cache was a good idea before heading home for the night.I enjoyed doing this cache as it was the first time i have used the projection function on my new gps finding it rather usefull and looking foward to doing other cache's like this.
Once i had projected wpt1 i strolled into this nice parkland enjoying spotting many birds and those damn rabbit's a few muggle's were spotted aswell walking their dogs today, but were far enough away not to interupt my search.
A very enjoyable multi.
Thanks for the cache k0mpass..

*FTF* What a great hunt. 4 of us all at the final co-ords at the same time. Bertram_Aus and bearsleys where ahead of us all the way. We gained some time on them by holding them down with a spotlight while I gather some needed clues. It was then a chase to the end for Rigger64 and myself. Trying to save time where we could. A single treated pine log as a bridge over one water hazard, A crude stepping stone crossing. One reading out the projection at the exact same time it is being type into a GPS by the other. Towards the end of the hunt by torch light was about spent, my GPS was going flat and I had a bad felling the cache had already been found. Arrived at teh cache location to see to cachers still in the hunt looking rather frustrated. A quick introduction and then a discussion about rules of engagement, Joint FTF or Winners are grinners. Agreed on a joint FTF and Rigger and I joined into the hunt. Rigger and I took a almost mirrored tightening circle approach to the cache both arriving at GZ on opposite sides. I took the liberty to start the log of and then handed it around for names to be filled in. We then looked at the supplied map and decided to take the long trip back. We enjoyed talking about caching as we headed back to our cars. Since the find was after 12am this made 1 of 3 FTF's for the day. TFTC.

*FTF* 12:46am 2nd January. Joint quad find with Bearsleys, Bertram_aus, CovertHypnisis, Rigger64.

It's 12:05am, dark, a light rain is falling and we're looking for a post. We're gunning for a FTF when suddenly we're caught in the glare of a spotlight.

"Do you think they saw us?" says Andy.
"We're wearing reflective red jackets" says Matt.
"Ah, right. Duck!"

Somewhere, someone is laughing at the red bunnies they've spotlighted. Welcome to the world of competitive night-time Geocaching.

We race ahead, keeping an eye on the light bobbing behind us. Splash through the stepping stones. Bump (literally) into the star picket.

We spend 10 minutes at the gz in the brambles, when Rigger64 and CovertHypnosis rock up. CovertHypnosis finds the cache almost immediately with his psychic GPS. Nice one!

Thanks k0mpass for the cache. Very old school - orienteering at midnight!

I took Jessie our dalmatian with me on this one, as the area came highly recommended.
Well, we absolutely loved this cache.
Firstly, everything worked with the waypoints, no arithmetic errors, no errors of parallax, no errors of judgement, well, not many errors of judgement.
We found the first clue within a few metres of our calculated waypoint.
We headed off towards the second waypoint and at one point became pretty much surrounded by water. We eventually found our way to the second waypoint where the clue was much harder to find, but still within a few metres of where we expected it to be.
I just don't know how you would doi this cache in the middle of the night. I have a lot of respect for the previous finders.
After that, it was easy to find the cache. At that stage it was 2:30pm.

Secondly, this is a fantastic place for dogs. If you bought Sandy here often she must have been a happy dog. Jessie was running everywhere, chasing rabbits, swimming in the lake, bouncing through the grass, sniffing goodness knows what, and wandering what on earth the cows were.
On the way back to the car, we saw someone strolling towards the second waypoint with a GPSMap 60CSx in his hand. It was Muzza, so we stopped and chatted for about 20 mins, and he gave me a clue to the nearby Industrial Estate whichhas eluded me in the past.
As we walked beside the road before meeting Muzza, there were two types of traffic observed in the quiet industrial streets around this area.
They were at opposite extremes. There were the timid and cautious cars with "L" plates being driven by kids taking their first driving lessons duting the school holidays.
And then there were the hoons on motor bikes who were using the quiet streets as a time trial circuit, leaning into the corners, using all the road, and travelling at a speed well into 3 digits around the industrial estate. Must have been scary for the learners.

Anyway, this was a great cache, somewhere in my top ten.
I took nothing, but left a spot light and a magnet.

Thanks for the cache. k0mpass.
I note this is your first hide.
You've set a very high standard.

Oh, and what bridge ? Don't remember seeing any bridge ??

I pass by this place quite often to the south, and was not aware that there were some lakes here. I've even entered from the south to do the cache near there.

I enjoyed the walk around, and ran into GMJ3191 who was returning from GZ. We chatted for quite some time before heading off in our various directions. Once at GZ it was a nice and quick find. No swap made, but I did leave a Micro Compass Rose geocoin, originally donated by HiPressure as a FTF prize in a cache out Marysville way.

Thanks for the cache, for the walk, and for a look at an area I wouldn't otherwise have visited.

Joint quad find with CovertHypnisis, Bearsleys & Bertram_aus @ 00:45 (12:45am) 2nd January.
It's somewhere near 23:30Hrs on a dark night with a light rain falling and i get a message "Are you up? my reply was i will be out the front in 2 mins"
As myself & Coverthypnosis Approched the parking spot we noticed a car parked nearby & i said to Covert that would have to be a cachers car parked there to which he agred that yeah it would have to be But Who Could it be??
As we got out of the car i spoted a light in the bushes not all that far from were the cars were parked & in the Right direction for were we were about to head.

In our hunt for a FTF we seen a light on the other side of the lake so we put the light on to see someone in a RED HyVis Jackets stand there for a few Seconds like stunned Bunnys Surprised then duck down in the hope that we had not seen then.
It was so Funny to see a Couple of red bunnys suddenly caught in the glare of a spotlight. Big Grin

They tryed to race ahead but in the end it was fruitless as we caught up to them in the end
CovertHypnosis rock up then precided to headedin for the final hunt.
CovertHypnosis & found it about the same time. But he was in a better position to grab it as i was still on the wrong side of the trees.
After a bit of bush bashing which BTW: i Was wearing Shorts & Thong for the hunt & i came out with not a mark on me. Which i quite often do on a nice warm night or day.
