Woeful case of cache blindness and time optimism today on my planned kayaking trip. Found a few, couldnt find a few and ran out of time for the rest . Oh well, Ill be back with a better plan and maybe some more geo eyes to help . TFTC
A cute little beach here and we picked up a bit of rubbish. Found the cache no problem nicely tucked away. All dry here. Thank you
Out boating with the kiddies and decided to grab this cache while out fishing.

This one had been on my to do list since I started geocaching 11 years ago.All the events and paddles nearby I always put it off for another day.Was great to make this one a find with the MEGAGOMs.Cheers

Day 2 of MegaGOM boating and tree fishing expedition with **bella at waggy**, **Baktrak**, **Purplepeopleater** and an anonymous local.
After some marine engineering and 2 fresh tanks of fuel late yesterday afternoon, MV Grumpy was purring nicely this morning. Unfortunately, we were soon churning up mud at low tide which caused us to revert to human powered craft. Spent another fine day on various waterways.

Up in Brissie with a few geopals and a colourful local for 3 days of water sports, tree fishing and other sundry pursuits after much puzzle-solving, crosschecking and planning. Day 2 and some running repairs to MV Grumpy reduced its attempts at self-immolation and the need for gear-grinding manoeuvres. Day 2 was very much about learning to love mud
We signed with the space-saving and enigmatic anagram “megagom”, in memory of previous exploits.

Day 2 and we thought the MV Grumpy was ready to play nicer today but with some shallow water it was bought back for some running repairs and the yaks dispatched. Now at its second launch location the repairs had somewhat quelled the grumpyness and performed better today.
Some plans where hatched with a local and some Sydney Siders for a 3 day quick caching trip which involved get the boat out, yaks, mud, poles, ladders, trees etc. Plenty of solving was done and routes plotted. The boat, the MV Grumpy lived up to its name with some cantankerous displays and the need for running repairs on serval occasions so our timetable had to be amended on more than one occasion.
Despite the tide we made our way around and also put the yaks to good use in the shallower and narrower areas as planned but also when the MV Grumpy being Grumpy so the arms got more of a workout that expected.
A number of us have thought we have previously been the victims of caching identify theft by that mysterious mob call the GOM’s. As a result and given it felt like a bit if a mega the logs were signed MegaGOM. TFTC

Cruising the waters of the Pine river today with karicka and Peppa in the comfort of the tinny.
After taking care of our target caches, I was grateful to stop at a few caches on the way back even though the other had already found them.
We pulled up at a perfect little beach and I jumped out. I looked in all the wrong holes before Peppa jumped out and pointed it out to me.
The logbook was saturated and unsignable. Unfortunately we didn’t have any replacements with us.

After Pepps's large gathering for his event "For the Love of Tupperware" we set out to nab a few caches in the area.abeck58 and I in the Sante Fe Catering Canoe to offer snacks and a stable mooring platform. Logs today were signed as P.R.I.C.K.S - Pine Rivers Intrepid Canoe and Kayak Squadron to save space in the logbook, to save ink and to save the scribes from going home with RSI, we are a rather large group today after all. Thanks for the entire team for coming along today and making it possible to sign some logs that the SS Santa Fe might otherwise have issues mooring at. She might be big and beautiful, but nimble she is not. Thanks bedmaker for placing this cache.
Out with an intrepid bunch of kayakers, canoers, a paddle board and a tinnie.Commonly referred to as P.R.I.C.K.S. We had all attended an Event, proudly hosted by Peppa, on the River not far from the Tinchi Tamba boat ramp. There was a catering canoe offering an assortment of delicacies to the fleet. We had a great day on the water. patrol14 even managed to catch a catfish. TFTC.
Out paddling with a bunch of PRICKS after an event on the river. Such a beautiful day out kayaking all over, picking up caches and catching up with people. When all the new releases further upstream had been signed people started to disperse and when it came to the OG caches there was just a handful of us left. Nice to find a bit of an oldie here. TFTC
Having hosted the “For the love of Tupperware…” event it was then a group assault on a great selection of caches…
According to the app on the phone our group paddled 11km over about 5 hours… we bypassed this cache earlier because of the lack of river, but our whittled down group is soldiering on…
For the sanity of the COs and to save space on the logs, the Pine Rivers Intrepid Canoe & Kayak Squadron may have been abbreviated…??

I was very apprehensive about finding these caches because of my fear of water but I was able to convince my son that I needed him to come with me. Left home early and in the water in plenty of time to attend an Event first then off we went. Lots small water vessels of all types. I think it was either my 5 or 6 time in the kayak and I wasn't sure what the day would bring. Once everyone met up at GZ for the Event we were soon able to head off to find all the caches around this area.
It turned out a great day with a wet bum and a bit of sunburn on my lips and around my lower face. TFTE

I had a great day today; this was a lovely day for a paddle on the river “For the Love of Tupperware” event. To save space, the logs were all signed as P.R.I.C.K.S and thanks go to bedmaker putting these out.
Mrs RoddyC performing the kayaking duties today, and had a very enjoyable time amongst the "tupperware", and then the birds and fishing!
Thanks for the cache, bedmaker.

After Peppa's event this morning, a group of us continued for quite a long time, collecting all caches in the area. We had a great variety of tree climbs, tree fish and most of all great kayaking caches. All logs were signed under a team name for the day to save room.

We had a great day today; a flotilla of kayaking cachers searching and finding 100% of the caches on our list. Many hands (or eyes) make for a successful day, with lots of the group contributing to either spotting, climbing, fishing or wading through the muddy mangroves to sign the logs.

Good on ya, bedmaker, for placing this cache quite some time ago!
After the event "For the love of Tupperware" from Peppa, we paddled along the Pine River to get those Tupperwares down to sign the log with P.R.I.C.K.S.
It was an awesome day for the 12- km-, some searches took longer, some were spotted from the kayak.

I had a frustrating morning wrestling with the software I use for work so when M suggested I go for a paddle on Pine River this afternoon, I certainly wasn't going to refuse such a generous offer! . He dropped me off at Deep Water Bend boat ramp and promised to be waiting at Brighton Park when I got there. What a sweetie!

It was great to get out on the water today with the Rainbow Flotilla. The winds meant our journey took a little more effort but the company and caches more than made up for it.
After making our way across the channel we pulled the kayaks up to the little beach to start our search. I missed the cache on my first pass but the GPS suggested I was looking in the right spot so another look with Mr DisSister’s assistance revealed the cache in its hidey hole. TFTC bedmakerTG

A beautiful early morning, just perfect for a paddle out on the water. We decided to head out early before the wind woke up.
This one was about 2.5km from our starting point, and a very enjoyable paddle.
We found the container in a likely looking hides hole. Log signed and then we made our way back to the boat, noticing that so much rubbish seems to wash into this area of the island.
Time to head the boat around across the water and start making our way back.

It’s always good when you can paddle to within metres of a cache before you need to get out. In fact we were able to paddle right up to the sand bar. No mud to be seen here.
We had fought the wind the whole way here from Deep Water Bend and it was time to turn around and paddle back. At least the wind was going to be behind us although I wish I had packed a spinnaker. tftc

Today, I started the day with a local parkrun, and then after a few morning chores, I grabbed my newly acquired kayak and headed to Tinchi Tamba Wetlands. I had particularly wanted the Fishmonkey and Stingray challenges, but also I wanted to test out my kayak's performance, which went well. Following my tiring session, I visited a few geocaches around Sandgate and Shorncliffe, completing the two Adventure Labs *Sandgate Heritage Trail* and *Walking On The Sun - The Shorncliffe Ramble*. With great weather and ideal conditions for kayaking, it turned out to be an enjoyable day.
I was in a bit of a zone whilst kayaking up Pine River, and upon looking at my GPS, noted that this geocache was about 80 m in front, and so only looked back at my GPS to see I had gone past the location by 100 m. Whoops, so a U-turn and a few minutes later, I was docked on the beach. There were a few obvious hidey holes deserving of a cache, and as this cache had only been replaced, I knew it could not have been far. However, an initial search had me come up trumps. A further search around revealed that the previous container had fallen and was damaged and wet, so I ended up replacing the container and logbook with a spare cache that I had brought along. Thanks bedmaker for the cache placement and ongoing maintenance.

promised to replace this one while we were out this afternoon exercising on the water. Just making a legal, non recreational journey within my 10km areawe’re not in lockdown anymore… Damn no matter what anybody says, I do it for enjoyment.
With permission from the CO, Muggle65, Brislions and l went for an after work paddle and replaced this one. Wind was a bit gusty and the tides were not ideal but it was still a fun paddle and we had a ball. This area is really beautiful and well worth the trip just for the view. Great spot for a cache. Thank you so much BedmakerTG
Georode and I were picking up caches in the area. We decided not to go further with the wind picking up and this being the farthest one. DNFs from experienced cachers were not inviting either.
Maybe next paddle.

Out with Team Tyrrell and GeoNayfee for a paddle this morning. We meet at deep water bend and left a car there, then proceeded to our launch site at the Dohles rocks boat ramp. Using the tide and wind we had planned to do 8 caches and then get out at Deep water bend. This was number 3 for the day, a nice paddle and as the tide was still coming in we did have the advantage of the tidal flow with us the downside meant that most caches will require getting out as many of today's caches will need to be reached by wading through the mangrove mud.
A great morning, again a lot of fun on the water and the usual banter.
Oh team tyrrell and geonayfee took the easy way in a double kayak while I carried the team all day in the single, well that’s my story. LOL.

I was invited to join Chamad and TeamTyrrell for a day on the water to grab some caches on Pine River. I couldn't refuse the offer as I've been wanting to grab these ones for a while now, but I don't have a kayak of my own, so I teamed up with TeamTyrrell on his double.
We got the kayaks in the water at Dohles Rocks and made our way down the river towards Deepwater Bend. It was a perfect day to be on the water as there was a light breeze and cloud cover at times which made for a pleasant experience. We all enjoyed ourselves, had a bit of a laugh and poor ole Chamad struggled to keep up with us, so at times we had to tow him so he didn't fall too far behind. Awwww...
All caches were quick finds, but trying to get through all that mud was certainly a challenge, but that's all part of the fun. I'd advise not to wear thongs, the bloody things kept getting stuck in the mud, so after a while I kept them in the Kayak and decided to go barefoot instead.
Fantastic day on the water and none of us ended up in the drink, like others have in the past...
Thank you for all the caches and the great experience we all had today.

A beautiful and yet socially distant yak session was planned (and replanned!) with ruzzelz this morning. This was the second of five caches for me. A great morning on the water, with great company, great weather, and a few belly laughs. Beautiful spot, and we embarked on an unofficial CITO while we were here. I did not read the logs before I left home, so unfortunately did not bring a replacement log with me. This one is soaked and no longer signable, but I have taken a photo for recording purposes.

Had another christening at this spot to remove some evil thoughts from my noggin. Feel refreshed and cleansed, probably from the mud treatment to my legs. Think they look 15 years younger for the experience. Thanks for maintaining this cache bedmaker.
Out for a day chasing prawns after the rain and thought we would finally grab some caches off the water. Forgot to bring a pen to sign the log though so we’ll sign next time we’re out. Tftc
I had seen the NM suggesting that this one might not be in place so I messaged the CO in advance seeking permission to replace it and brought along a 200ml Sistema for the job. On arrival at GZ, I spotted the obvious hide straight away but was unable to locate any cache. There was a fair bit of rubbish around though. After a decent search, I concluded that the cache must be missing and left the replacement that I had brought.

My muggle mate has a geocaching account, but doesn't cache. He also has a boat. So I arranged to meet him this morning so that I could collect a few caches out on the water.
This time, we were able to easily find a spot for the boat, close to the cache. I made my way up the short distance to GZ and spotted the cache sitting high and dry. I added my name tot he log, returned the cache to its spot, then headed back to the boat. TFTC

Out on the water with Ardom and Mr JACS in our tinnie we were heading back in to the jetty and decided to grab these whilst we were out. A quick park, jump off the boat, find and relaunch.
JACS Team decided we should make some more stops on the way back to the launch point. I was not going to object, because not often I get to collect water caches on a powered boat! Quick find at the GZ. TFTC!
We had just picked up our new jet ski through the week and we were keen as mustard to give it a try today on the Pine River for its maiden voyage. We set the alarm for the crack of dawn and hit snooze…c’mon it was a big day yesterday being Australia Day! The alarm beeps for the second time and that’s right we are now coherent enough to remember we have a new toy to play with.
Our first stop was coffee and breakfast from the local BP and then we were ready to hit the water. Plenty of people out here this morning enjoying this cracking weather. We waited patiently to get our turn on the boat ramp and then Mrs 4ando went and parked the car and left Mr 4ando to deal with any first hiccups that may occur on the water, no point in both of us going down! Once the car was parked he zoomed back on in and then we were off.
It took us a while to actually go find a cache as we were taking it in turns having fun learning this new beast, it was great to finally be underneath this bridge rather than being stuck in peak hour traffic on top of the bridge. Once all the shenanigans were over we headed in for a cache.
We anchored up the pwc and we headed up for the search. Wasn’t too long before we had it and added our name before returning back and happy days the anchor works, no need to swim back…

This one was both my favourite part of the trip today, and my favourite cache location.
We should now have been paddling into the tidal current, however the wind had picked up enough to override this. Some small waves meant a little thrill every time you felt the back of the yak lift up in a new swell that would help propel you with effortlessness towards your destination. As the wave passed along your kayak you eventually felt the effects of the post wave doldrums, that made you feel like you had actually come to a stop. Soon enough, though, another wave would come along.....such fun!
The nice little inlet and sandy location made it much easier for my companion to get out and search for the cache while I languished in the luxurious shade and breeze directing him on where to search. Eventually I pointed him in the right direction!
Thanks for the cache.

Swellerfungus and I headed out for an afternoon paddle (while LadySim decided a jigsaw puzzle in the air conditioning was a better option on a hot summer day ). We definitely picked a higher than normal high tide with water lapping over the wall at the boat ramp.
On the journey out we had bypassed this cache as we had chosen to paddle close to the opposite shore to get out of the chop and slight headwind, to make padding easier. On the way back the wind was with us, which seemed to be overruling the outflowing tide, and at times it was like surfing down the face of the way if you timed your stroke just right to catch the next swell. After a hot paddle across, it was rather enjoyable at GZ, with plenty of shade and a refreshing cool breeze to dry away the sweat. Cache found safe and well and it was time to face the heat again for the rest of the paddle home. TFTC

Today a group of us made some plans. Plans to hike a mountain. But then the plans changed. And then they changed again. And then some couldn't come. So then last minute the plan was changed once more for Ruzzelz, Slow Puncture and I. Instead of Mountains we'd go Mangroves.
Having grabbed a couple of other caches further round the bend, we then headed over this way so I could grab this cache, which both other parties had done previously. Arriving at what was possibly not the best entry point (the mangroves rather than the sand side), I disembarked my yak... and sank below ankle deep in the mud. Seeing that Slow Puncture decided to stay put in the yak and wait for me to make my find, however Ruzzelz did venture into the mangroves. As I seem to be a tasty morsel for the mozzies, even with the Bushmans on, I charged ahead as quickly as possible and made my found fast. Signing the log and replacing the cache I then headed back to where Ruzzelz, sans Bushmans, was standing, in the middle of the mangroves, completely unaffected by those bloodsucking critters, and then continued back to our yaks, adding a little more water and mud as we climbed in.
We had intended on grabbing a couple of other caches out here today, but it would seem the tide wasn't exactly the one we had expected, and after making our way around to attempt the other caches, we had to turn around and head back to where we had launched and save the other caches for another day, fighting a considerably low tide, wind, and the waves of the speed boats flying past.
Thanks for the cache bedmakerTG.

Finally had a chance to take out the yak this morning, so of course I had to look for a couple of caches. Alas, with a dropping tide and my not-very-patient little Yak on board, this was the only one we found.
The container does have a hole in it, as reported by the last finder, but the contents were dry and in great shape. Might need maintenance if there's a deluge, but if this weather continues it'll be fine indefinitely. TFTC Bedmaker. Good little spot.

After seeing a callout on FB for assistance on getting a few caches in the area plus we needed to take our tinny out for a test run after some repairs, we decided to visit the North Pine River today to do both.
Working our way back from Down the Drain, we motored back to this island and our GPS's led us around a bit before we decided to head in and try a likely landing spot. Was the right place and after a short search cache was found.
Signed the logbook, left a few swaps as there were none in the cache and returned to its hide. Cache container has a small hole in one end from an animal by the looks but otherwise dry.
Was a lovely afternoon out on the water with IolantheK.

Perfect. 2 things I love doing canoeing and caches. I love this spot. Thanks for placing this cache here. It was very choppy and our canoe was getting water logged but we made it and were very happy.
We planned a trip on the water today to find a couple of caches, the weather forecast wasn't very promising but this morning there was no rain so off we went. We launched the rubber ducky on the incoming tide. It wasn't long before we were tracking through the mangroves, No too muddy and no mosquitoes. Once at GZ it was a quick find. Thanks bedmaker for the adventure.
Final cache on the water today with the Mooseling. Getting here was no problem at all with the outgoing tide pulling us along nicely. We beached on the cove not far from gz where we made the easy enough find and signed the log. Alleluia, there was a pencil inside! Yes, we'd left our pen behind. A rest before the slog against the wind and outgoing tide back home. Tftc Bedmaker
What a lovely afternoon for a paddle in the kayaks. We'd just visited 'Whatever floats your boat' and now it was time to check out where bedmaker's cache was hidden. Geohubby and Miss 11 let me lead the way and soon we found ourselves on a soft, SANDY beach. I navigated my way over to GZ, there was an unbelievable amount of rubbish and debris on the shore and after a quick look found the cache. Everything is good here, log is lovely and dry, safe from the rain and floods. TFTC bedmaker, lovely spot to visit
This was my twentieth find for the day and sixteenth unique DT rating - so far - in my quest to qualify and complete the Unique Difficulty/Terrain Challenge (Qld) - GC5C5PB.
I had planned the day around trying to avoid having to paddle too far against the tide. I was about forty five minutes later than I would have liked and arrive at the Deepwater boat ramp at about 0900 - right on high tide. With the canoe quickly unpacked and in the water, I was off paddling strongly. With two paddling finds that took longer than I wished behind me, I now had the tide behind me for the last kilometre to this cache.
An easy find - and now the hard work begins. I opted to cross to the far bank and then hug the mangrove edge to avoid the tide as much as possible. This was a good strategy, as I even got an eddy in some places to help me. Even so, it was still slow going and hard work. Lots of prawns, birds and other wildlife around today.
I packed a lot into the day today. I managed to complete 4 challenge caches, visited 3 higher terrain paddling caches on my canoe, waded through some mozzie infested swamp, climbed a multitude of trees and finally cleared the map of a lot of nasty puzzles that I have been working on. Nearly forty caches and 13 odd hours later (with 35 unique DT's under my belt), I returned home.
All in good condition here. Thanks for the cache, bedmaker!

Mum and Dad had to do a maintenance run on the water so I tagged along to grab a few smilies
Was nice to be out on the water today, grabbing some smilies in high terrain as well as getting my tan back

I made this find on my way from Fisherman's Friend back to the Deepwater Bend boat ramp. Just a quick detour across the river in my kayak. Once ashore I quickly located and signed the cache. TFTC
I have wanted to find the caches in this area for longer than I can remember. There was one day that I was even at the boat ramp with a canoe and two crazy friends but it was too choppy and we decided to be morally corrupt instead. Thankfully we didn't go that day because more and more caches have been popping up in the area. I had been bugging Captain Terror to take me out with his canoe for a few months now and finally this weekend everything was planned and we were packed and ready to go.
It was slightly windy but the water was really nice to motor down. After finding the cache further down we pulled up on a nice sandy spot and hopped out of the canoe. The Captain went for a wander as I headed over to GZ and found the cache without any great difficulty. I signed my name in the logbook and replaced the cache as found. Thanks for the cache Bedmaker. Off to the next one Captain!

First on my run of caches while out fishing. Arrived after sunrise to a beautiful view, such a shame this area is covered in rubbish, obviously someone has been doing some drinking around here, lots of bottles. Found quickly, adjusted the camo to give a bit more cover. TFTC, thanks for bringing me here !
Out for a spot of yakking early in the day. Beautiful day for it - very unEaster weather.
On the advice of GL, we went left when we really should have stayed right. Tide was out a bit so we had to do a bit of hard labour to get the boats through. (I almost lost a shoe) At one point I looked up and GL was on her butt and her butt was not in the boat. "Are we having fun yet???"
We eventually found our way to the right place, admired the "ornament" hanging in one of the trees and the Codemaster located the container.
Thanks bedmaker for a great location.

What a spectacular day to go yakking with Aussiemates. I did suggest we go left around the island to avoid the heavy boat and jet ski traffic, and paid the ultimate pricing by bottoming out and having to drag the kayak through some shoe sucking sand and then planting it trying to get back in the boat.
There was a brigade of mossies on the island once we found the appropriate beaching beach but the cache was quickly located and signed and we were off to face into the wind on the way back. Yes, we are having fun!! Thanks for a great mornings activity bedmaker.

Second on our list today, holy moly mozzies!
Unsure of which side of the island to land, made the right decision and came up onto a 'beach' (and I use the term loosely) on the Eastern side.
Cache in hand in no time.

Found the cache after finding a suitable landing location, the water is deep wright up to the island. After finding the cache we quickly left the island as the mozzies where very hungry. TFTC
Out for the day catching prawns and thought we would get this one while we were out. Thanks for the cache
TFTC, Awesome trip out in the Kayaks looking around the river mouth. We like the more adventurous caches so this one was fun. Took some finding but got it in the end. All is in good condition.

I had decided to come to the dark side again for another paddle today. I had a few caches on my hit list and decided to launch form Brighton Park.
The wind was behind me on the way to this one, and the tide was about to turn, so not much to fight against.
The distance passed by quicker than I expected and I was soon near GZ. A nice beach to land on and a very short walk to GZ for a nice quick find.
I had the tide with me for the 2.7km paddle back to the car which made for easy going

After hiring canoes for the weekend, a few of us decided to venture out and get a few more caches before we had to return the canoes. We moved location to a new launch site and with a reduced team of Nyssaflutterby with 2 munchkins, Team LJCC, Angela and Dave (minus Dave...two days of canoeing too much)!! and male membsec we set off upstream to capture the cache. Unfortunately as we neared the cache the wind got up and we beached quickly before any trouble began. A swift wander along the island brought us to a well hidden cache in excellent condition. Lots of signing and then back to the craft to complete the adventure. With the wind now blowing very strongly further caches were forgotten and the return journey was begun. At times the canoes simply ploughed towards land as the wind wanted us beached. Poor Nyssa was struggling as the lone paddler and she succumbed to the wind. The others made their way back to the launch site and then walked back along the foreshore to assist Nyssa. With a bit of swift relocation, and a discussion with a local environmental enthusiast (who was more interested in the preservation of the mangroves to the preservation of children) we managed to get all the canoes loaded. Thus endeth the day's saga (almost - cleaning still to be done!).

Australia Day out in boats? What more could Aussies want? (Part 3 of the day).
Our numbers were slightly reduced after the previous 2 cache finds of the morning. This time our little caching army consisted of ourselves; Angela sans Dave; Nyssa plus 2 of her munchkins; and Terry Membsec.
After battling with vehicles and boats (what are THEY doing at a boat ramp?) we launched into choppy waters and a fresh breeze. Freshening, as it soon turned out.
We were intending to travel to the cache "Mangrove Jack" prior to returning for this one, but the quickly deteriorating conditions were having adverse effects on the boats of both Angela and Terry, and Kerry and Luke. Both teams of novice paddlers were struggling with the chop and the tide and the breeze, which was getting quite gusty. In addition, Nyssa was effectively paddling alone, notwithstanding the assistance of her senior munchkin.
It was agreed we would stop as we got to the island containing "Bedmaker's Boat Trip", in part at least due to being stuffed.
When be beached we were about 80 metres short, but after a quick trip inland, the cache was soon in hand and signed.
Again, Kerry and I performed some CITO, as there was plenty of stuff there to collect.
The trip back was even more challenging, with Nyssa having to resort to heading towards a sheltered location, whilst the two remaining teams really battled to zig-zag very slowly back to the boat ramp.
Kerry and Angela headed off to assist Nyssa and munchkins whilst Terry and Luke beached the boats, and then the task of getting everyone together was undertaken! Much shuttling between the boat ramp and Osprey House (as it turned out).
A real test this one, but it was the weather that undid us!

Thought we were going to have to turn around and head back before getting to this cache, as, what started off as a blue sky day, soon turned to a light rain then hurricane force winds!
Team LJCC in one canoe, Male Membsec and I in another and Nyssa with two of her munchkins in another.
We were doing ok up until the wind kicked in, then we were being forced towards the island and were pretty lucky to have beached without having a spill.
The plan had been to pass this cache in order to grab Mangrove Jack first then grab this on the way back, but we all know what happens to the best laid plans...
We walked the remaining distance to Bedmaker's Boat Trip, finding the cache in good order.
When we got back to the canoes, it was decided that the wind was too strong and we needed to return to the boat ramp.
This proved to be a difficult task as the wind kept wanting to push us towards the left bank and the waves got choppy and tried to push us back with the tide.
Terry and I dug in and put every bit of effort into paddling back to the boat ramp after making a plan that once we had made it back, I would go back for Nyssa and her munchkins.
A few turns back in her direction and we could see she was in a little trouble. That's when the Rescue boat cruised past us not 20 metres or so from our right. Do we flag them down or don't we....?! Too late! They took off past us!
Almost to the boat ramp, the wind grabbed us and turned us in the wrong direction, across the breaking waves. If there was any point in time that I doubted we would make it, this was it!!
So close to rolling over with the wind and waves, we both struggled with the canoe in the start of a losing battle, or so we thought, as it flicked around we paddled hard and aimed for the boat ramp which was occupied by a small boat carrying a small family. GET OUT OF THE WAY!! I felt like yelling!
We got the boat onto the ramp and I grabbed an oar and slid down the side of the ramp, into the mud and mangroves, racing towards Nyssa. Team LJCC beached their canoe on the mud and Kerry headed towards Nyssa also.
By the time we got around the bend, Nyssa was nowhere to be seen. There was an empty canoe sitting in the mud. Nyssa emerged from the mangroves and we carried the canoe through the mangroves and came out near Osprey house. Nyssa went for the car, Luke came and collected Kerry and the Munchkins in Blue Thunder. I waited with the canoe.
That's when the Osprey house guardian came wandering down the parking lot curious as to what I was doing. I explained but she was more worried about people having been in the mangroves! Um, there was no other choice?!?! Lucky for me, the cavalry arrived and she disappeared.
I noticed on the drive out, we happened to pass by a ranger... I wonder if that was coincidence?
Anyways, everyone is safe and dry, and we all reached the end goal, even if some took shortcuts!

I've been trying to get the stars to align so I could come out and do this cache for quite some time. Literally years actually. Finally today was the day. Alkzura, BlueDior and I have recently purchased kayaks and are keen to get out in them.
After a paddle by Mangrove Jack GZ (we agree it doesn't seem to be there) we headed up to this cache. Once we were all beached it only took a moment to lay our hands on the cache. All was dry and in perfect condition. We paused long enough for a snack but I was rushed along by my companions who are a pair of walking mozzie baits.
Thanks for a wonderful few hours out paddling. A favourite point from me, this is what caching is all about.
