Didnt even know what geocaching was until just now! Made for quite a fun addition to our walk!
I did a 50km cycle yesterday and rediscovered my love for extended cycling (50km is still a short ride) so today I headed out for anther 35 km ride. To here. Nice fast trip along the highway. Should have known better. There was a tail wind. In other words there was a head wind home. Bummer.Anyhoo, today is a size Regular dot-day, which is why I picked this cache. Locked up the bike at the track start and walked in. What a cool bit of bush!! Started hunting for the cache. Found it! Oh Its a bag of dog poo. Ewww. Some dog owners need training on how to be a dog owner because that dog owner doesn't cut it. Anyway, spent ages and got no where. Checked the hint. Okay, no go, already checked there. Past logs... Ah! Ther has been some cache creep. Probably because the dog poo was hidden where the cache should be.And then spent ages again. Even sent out a call for help, but before they could reply I found the cache. Yep, back to the tree, walk to the stream on the little cape, about 10m. For me the log was nice and dry, although had obviously got seriously wety at some stage. A new log and an inner container would be nice.
TFTC - new hint, find the 5 standing tall, turn your back to them and look towards the stream to see if you can spot the cache
Catching up with logging geocaches from this weekend. Found with TwigNZ, TaybeeNZ, and Barefootguru after an afternoons expedition to Moonshine Reserve. This cache had previously defeated Twig, but had been found recently, so resolved to locate this time. And indeed we did, having widened the search area with 4 pairs of eyes. In the end, the cache wasn't difficult to see, but certainly not where we expected it to be. Signed as BMTT. Tftc!
We helped TwigNZ clear a DNF while in the area. Took 5 — not per hint and in a rather odd spot Recent logs helped. Signed as BMTT — me, matagouri, taybee nz, & TwigNZ. Thanks wb!
This is a rare weekend for me, one with no particular plans to be anywhere or do anything major. A few days ago I was speaking with Matagouri at an event in Petone, and he asked whether I'd be interested in looking for a couple of lonely caches over the weekend. And so a rough plan was hatched, which soon then expanded to include barefootguru and taybee NZ.
Having just finished finding those, I asked the others if they needed this particular cache, as I hoped a few extra eyes would be what was needed to avenge my previous DNF. In the end 3 out of 4 of us needed it so we came here to take a look.
Just as before, my GPS brought me to a setting that was in line with the Hint. But once again no cache was to be found. We started to widen our search radius and it was taybee nz that spotted the cache. Well that was certainly unexpected! Not only is the cache more than 10m away from where I was expecting to find it, but it's a lot larger than I had expected and hidden in a way that renders the Hint useless.
Oh well, a find is a find. As others have said, the container is damaged and the log is in a poor state, but I managed to sign it as BMTT for the 4 of us.
Thanks for setting this one up in the first place.

Enjoyed the bush walk in a suburb we'd never been to before. The cache was a quick find although not where we expected it to be, and not at the height the hint indicates. Seems to have been there since at least 2020 going by the photo in the gallery. The container is cracked in at least two places so water is able to get in and the log is mostly unreadable - I managed to sign it (with Fisher Space Pen) but I think this cache could do with some maintenance. Returned the cache to the same strange hiding place that we found it as we weren't sure where else to put it! TFTC
Having just found the other Trad nearby, I thought I'd might as well look for this one too.
I spent about 20-30 minutes methodically searching high and low each on each of the 5, but to no avail. I did find a galv nail in one of the trunks, so if that's significant then I can declare that the cache was not attached to it.

Lovely little Bush walk. Think we found where it "should" be (rocky geo nose), but alas could not be found. Made it back across the stream without getting wet, so at least one success
Good clues, just a note that the cache is a bit moist and needs some internal TLC!
I came down from Thick as a Brick and almost regretted it. I wasn't wearing suitable enough shoes to just walk through the boggy bits, but at least I wasn't wearing my good shoes, so I've got that going for me, which is nice. Made it to the drier area and had a look around. Not exactly where I was expecting it, but still within the realms of possibility. Signed log and semi-debated carrying on down to the bottom and then walking around, but put that off as a silly idea. All good here. TFTC
Out and about in the area finding all we could, thanks for taking the time to place and maintain the cache
This one was my cache for the day. I was up here a few days ago and located the cache on that trip. All I had to do was get in here and write my name in the log book. It was dark when I left home but I have a good torch so it was not too bad.
The cache is in good condition. All nice and dry.
Thank you

Found it in the dark, the pathway was all muddy and also was the inside of the box, and the paper was unsignable... :/
A quick find after a nice walk. The papier mache log was unsignable I'm afraid but I can report that I saw the red Queen as proof of my visit.
Thanks for the cache.
Thanks for the cache.
Found this one under torchlight tonight. Very heavy tree cover made for I log search. Thanks for bringing me here tftc
As I seem to do quite often I more or less homed in on the correct location straight away but somehow overlooked the cache. I followed the GPS's indecisiveness around for a bit before going to the hint and ending up where I started. The cache was found in a logical place after all that! However the cache was full of water and the log was totally unsignable. Nice walk to get here though so TFTC.
What a surprise to find a bush walk such as this in a subdivision. Some nice trees too. Cache was found with no problems however the log is very damp and should be replaced some time soon. Otherwise cache in good condition. TFTC
Staying with family in the area and took the kids to do a few in the area after breakfast. This was a nice walk, and my son found it.
Found by accident, were actually out for a walk exploring the local tracks. Now onto a new adventure looking for more caches
Log was quite damp

A really nice track through mature bush at least in the lower and central section. The cache was a little exposed when we found it but we put the rock back in place when we left. TFTC.
#1397. This one took me a while to figure out the access into the cache. Tried from three different roads before I found the trail head up in Ronald Scott Grove. The walk down didn't seem that promising at first as passed below houses and scrubby vegetation. But then the track descends into a patch of really nice and diverse forest with beech trees, kahikatea , tawa and kamahi. The area of the cache itself is in a stand of very tall forest. The cache was quickly found in a likely hiding spot and logbook was soon signed. A bit of moisture inside but not too bad. Thanks for showing me this interesting reserve.
TFTC. A touch boggy on the way to the track from the south after the recent rain, but the track was fine. May pay to approach from the North after Heavy Rain - looks as if a fair bit of water can come down the stream. Cache fine, another one towards the 100, 10,7 challenge.
Lovely little hiatus amongst the raw subdivision. I was sceptical but surprised to find such a secluded bushwalk in this neck-o-the-woods. Thanks for pointing it out. Cash is dry and happily tucked away. Picked up a trackable and dropped off a funable. TFTC!
Tftc on a riverstone cache afternoon neat wee bush walk hard to believe so close to the houses a lot of damage from the recent flooding and your container has a hole in the bottom

In area and time for a quick walk. Nice little track of virgin bush. Cache quickly found. Nice to have a larger cache that is easy to get to. Dropped of a travelling penguin TB that I have had for to long. Thanks for the cache.
The second of five on a Riverstone cache run. A nice quick walk up from Riverstone. After turning the one of the five trees that actually had five vertical branches upside down we found this in one of the other five. TFTC.
Cache box has a hole in and was quite filled with rain water. Have tucked away in an orientation that will hopefully stop rain falling in but won't help rising damp.
We were doing a bit if a Tiki Tour around Riverstone for a while today. My, how it has changed over the years. We remember several energetic walks from the bottom to the top, many years ago, when the houses higher up were few and far between. Now there are many new roads that weren't there before and very many new houses.
This cache sounded intriguing: you can see a bit of bush below you when you drive down past the shop and the playground, but it doesn't look like much from up there. The entrance to the track off Riverstone Drive is pretty well hidden too, being set well back from the road. If you didn't have a Geocache description telling you it was there you wouldn't notice it.
Anyway, we parked on Riverstone Drive and walked into the bush. What a nice track and what a wonderful and very unexpected piece of bush, with the leaf strewn path winding alongside a tinkling bush stream! Finding the cache presented no problems. As the GPSr told me we were approaching GZ it was pretty obvious that the cache would be associated with the clump of tall trees that was there and in spite of the tree cover the co-ordinates seemed surprisingly accurate. Mrs B had the eagle eyes that spotted the cache hiding place. The cache container seems to have a small crack in the plastic, so is a little damp inside, but the log is nice and dry.
Having completed the formalities at the cache there was no way we were going to waste this track so we continued on to see what it was like at the other end. The track turned out to be longer than we had expected. When we broke out of cover at the far end it was a bit manky, with gorse on both sides and lots of rubbish lying around, but for most of 500m it is a great bush track, very quiet. Who'd believe it was in the middle of a modern subdivision! We wondered how many Riverstone residents either know it exists or have ever walked along it.
For sheer surprise factor I feel compelled to award this one a favourite point. TFTC

I love these walks. lots of Tui's singing today and cicadas. will bring the kids up here for a wander around. Easy find. I knew I was in the right place through the hint. TFTC
This cache has been 'handed over' to me by the previous Cache Owner. Thanks janemay for the work you have done looking after this since you took it over, and I promise to maintain the high standard.
I have replaced the old log book with a new log sheet - if this gets damaged please log a maintenance note and I will fix it.

Logbook soggy, cache wet inside. Needs a little TLC.
Let me know if you need a hand - more than happy to go up again and do some maintenance.

Another cache in place however with a soggy unusable log. Left half a deposit slip in the meantime....
GPS on phone ranged from +/-5 to +/-1081m but found from hint. Nice track, which we walked from Ronald Scott so did in both directions. Logbook still very soggy TFTC

An easy find as this one was muggled but at least they left the cache intact though unhidden. The log was soaking wet so left a temporary log. TFTC
Nice stroll to cache. Found while in the area with tmann421. Log is saturated & didn't have a temp to replace. TFTC
Found the cache lovely location but unfortunately water has damaged the cache and the log book is soaked.
someone had emptied the contense everywhere, i picked it up the best i could in the dark
been on this lovely bush walk in our local area many times, but first time since started geocaching. TFTC. log book a bit wet
A delightful bush walk among some wonderful huge trees. Log book a bit damp. TFTC
Cache not the place it looked obviously to hidden in. Maybe we were looking in the wrong place. Or maybe the helpful local that took it to dry out still has it. Please change it's status if this is the case.
Nice easy find ... getting dark in the bush in the late afternoon.
with Comandercon2 (who wouldn't give me any clues )

Cache extremely wet, and items rusting inside. Have taken for 24 hours to dry out, as I'm local, and no action sems to have been taken since first mentioned.

Thought I would come and do this one. Also, this was my second attempt. First, I wasn't even looking in the right place. Second, I did it without a GPS!
TFTC!

Cache #494 - third of the lunch hour today with Froog. Empty ice cream containers everywhere - thought for sure we were going to find a muggled cache. Cache in good shape, but logbook wet and needs replacing or drying out. TNLNSL. TFTC!
Cache was wet because the bag containing th elog book was poking out of the cache os was unsealed.
