GPS kept jumping around and it was wet when I was looking so it could be here, I just can’t find it.

05-Oct-19
Had unfinished business here after the last attempt ended in a fall which still has me seeing an orthopaedic surgeon 2.5 years later for the knee I wrenched when I slipped on the track. Had to give up looking. Tried again yesterday but alas no luck again. We had to leave after a good look as 3 yr old was cold and wet. Maybe it’s missing?
So next trip to the area I’ll try again.

A fabulous little walk with my family and hubby’s sister and kids. We are camped here for the weekend so decided on a little walk today with a big walk planned for tomorrow. Just such stunning views from the first vantage and then the second vantage where we found the cache. Many thanks for the cache.

Our last find of the day. We went for a short, easy stroll which turned out to be a memorable one. Loved the view up there and found the cache pretty quick.

26-Nov-18
Having done Chimney Pots in the afternoon, this felt like a gentle stroll comparatively. Last time I went up I ascended from the east; this time I ascended from Victoria Range Road and it was a nice track up through the grass trees.

I arrived more than half an hour or so before sunset, found the cache without a huge amount of trouble, then waited for the sunset, which was quite colourful.

Then I had to drive back after sunset 30km up to Wannon Crossing... not so fun with roos and wallabies hopping out everywhere. I did see a koala crossing the road though - first koala I've seen in the Grampians for many years.

Thanks for the cache.

04-Oct-18
Great walk and possibly the last hike of our holidays . Thank goodness for agile 11 year old legs that climbed and searched this one out . Excellent views even in light showers. Thanks for bringing us here.

Thanks for getting us slightly off track to see this awesome view.

Had to stop looking due to a fall and twisted knee by me and a three year old tired after her unassisted walk up to the top. Lovely day for a walk. Loved the views. Will definitely have to return and try again. Gutted that we didn't find.

13-Oct-16
This cache motivated us to do the Picanniny walk. Luckily we picked a nice day after all the wet weather. I was surprised how good the views were from the cache, so TFTC it was well worth the rock scramble. Left a small Pickachu and gold trackable.

13-Oct-16
Walking with Digby today, we scrambled and searched until we found the cache, we weren't leaving without finding it! Luckily I found it pretty quickly and we were back on track before we knew it. TFTC

[4946] On holiday in Australia, day 13: Before we continued our trip into direction Halls Gap, we explored Port Fairy first with the two multis. Really a nice little town with beautiful old buildings! Also the walk on Griffiths Island was very nice.

# After entering the Grampians, we first walked on top of this hill, what took only 20 minutes. We enjoyed the exciting view first and observed an Echidna, before I started to look for the cache.
First, I looked on the right level, but without success. After changing the level it did not become better and at the end I found the blue box on the level, where I had started my search. Big Grin Thanks for the cache in this great site!

Suggest you done attack this one as the crow flys !!!!

15-Nov-15
It became clear to us that we were trudging up from the wrong direction... we walked the kangaroo highway from the roadway, up through the old burnt area. It was incredible to see, though we gave up and will happily record as a DNF. Usually we crash in and track out, but it was crashing both ways. I did spot a stumpy tail lizard.

01-Nov-15
Geo kids loved the hunt and scramble.

20-Oct-15
Went for a walk to The Piccaninny but could not find the cache. Not sure why something this far along a track needs to be tricky to find and no hint.

13-Sep-15
First 25 degree day since last season, gentle breeze fantastic view! Tftc!

22-Jul-15
We didn't really take any notice of the terrain rating for this which was just as well as one of us may have not started, but once started kept going, and was rewarded by finding the cache and satisfaction of a good walk. Took the TB Luck of the Irish. Will make it a favourite as it was the only chance we had for a walk in the Grampians.

01-Jul-15
Fantastic cache. Beautiful views on a sunny winters day. Check out the cave below

05-Jun-15
Found on a short stroll between 2 large mountains, left irish travel bug, took the nut travel bug.Good view of Mt Sturgeon, Mt Abrupt under cloud, looked pretty wild up there! Smile

Met up with lionjrb today to tackle some southern Grampians caches whilst visiting the inlaws. Had done a massive hike half hour before this find so was a little pooped. Great views of Mt Sturgent! Tftc today

We loved this spot. It didn't take us too long to find, but could have been very tricky. We didn't hang around for too long because it is heading for 38 degrees here today [xx(]. Left TB.

Found on a perfect summer morning, wonderful clear views of Mt Sturgeon and surrounds. Overlooked the cache location a few times, kept searching in more precarious spots, it was a forehead snacking moment when we found it. Should have trusted the GPS! TFTC Smile

17-Oct-14
Found it after some "off-piste" rambling - great cache! After this, we were encouraged to climb Mt Abrupt, a totally different challenge and annoyingly were reminded to check out the caches before you set out as the coordinates for this one had to be found back in Dunkeld! Greetings from Cyprus, and TFTC.

17-Oct-14
Took some finding!! Nice one!!!

13-Oct-14
always a good walk up the piccaninnies. weather was challenging - hail, rain, wind, cold. went straight to the cache (thanks to the photos here) but had to hurry as the rain was coming and it was gale force winds. lots of orchids to see.

06-Aug-14
A bit of a drizzly morning in the Grampians today so we were looking for a reasonably short walk and hopefully a cache to find and this one fit the bill nicely.

On the way to GZ we wondered if the cache would still be there as there has been a recent fire....recent enough that we could still smell the charcoal, no ground cover, not even grasses and only the grass trees having sent up new fronds. However as we neared the top it was obvious the fire had stopped just before the summit and all was well with the cache.

We found it after a few minutes searching, signed the log and replaced it in it's hiding spot. On a clear day the views would be spectacular....even today through the low cloud and drizzle it was pretty darn good.

Many thanks for a great hide in a muggle free area 3D'sRwe [^][^][^]

29-Apr-14
A much-needed trek up a hill for this & met a muggle on the top too. We found GC together, watched a local wallaby feeding, & walked back to the carpark finding many things 'in common'-a most pleasant interlude. TFTC

After failing to grab the FTF on this nearly 4 years ago and having just DNFed the nearby Grampians Secret cache I was determined make at least one find for the day, however I was beginning to think I had a severe case of cache blindness as my GPS kept sending up and down, always telling me it was up when I was down, and down when I was up, eventually after searching in the wrong areas I spotted the hide and gasped a sigh of relief.[^][/Green]

Warm but windy day in Southern Grampians. Nice hide with great views. A fav point from us. TFTC.

06-Sep-13
Found with GoShaz on a great day caching in a beautiful area ..

06-Sep-13
Found on a day off from work. Enjoyed this one very much. The views were spectacular. Love this kind of caching.

Getting down on my hands and knees hanging over ledges with only bugs, birds and the odd kangaroo as witnesses.

The cache took a while with a bit of scrambling and looking on past logs.

Thanks.

31-Jul-13
Great spot..nearly didnt find it.

22-Jan-13
Wow, that ended up being much more of a scramble up and then down the hill than i had originally intended! And quite a precarious grab at the end there too. Found not long before dark when the views were even more brilliant than usual. Thin tftc!

28-Dec-12
Beautiful view! Thanks!

22-Dec-12
This is our second visit to enjoy the views and search for this fellow. Although GPS reception was a problem in some areas, persistence paid off this time and we found more than the views Smile.

Enjoyed a day with wife and kids. A lovely walk every time I do it.

26-Nov-12
I was in Halls Gap with SABERS motorbike club and needed my daily cache.
However the club was leaving today and my muggle partner and I were staying another night, so after I rode to Dunkeld with the club then waved them goodbye from there, I started to cache my way back to Halls Gap and attempted 7 caches today but sadly 2 were DNFs Sad. .
I rode to this car park and then, as I started uphill, a couple walked down and I had to wonder if they had also been seeking a geocache?[?]
The view at the top was absolutely gorgeous and I had to take pictures before starting to seriously locus cache!
Initially, I thought that I may never find this cache however, as luck would have it, a few sms's from a friend fortuitously gave the GPSr time to settle and I very soon spied the cache. Cool Getting it out from where I was was a different matter entirely and I had to come at it from a different angle to retrieve it. Twisted
Much later in the day, I spoke to the couple in the supermaket and they are over here from Holland on holidays until Christmas and stated that thye had really enjoyed the climb and the view! Seems they love Australia Big Grin but they hadn't yet heard of geocaching Wink

This one was a great walk, we had been here before pre join geoing and had stood on the very spot. Thanks for bringing us back here. Got some beautiful photos of a wallaby with her joey and a shingle back lizard. It was a good warm down after the M2M.

Like the name and the cache now that I have signed the log.
It took a while for me to have it in hand. My group waited patiently for me to return while enjoying the views at the top of Picaninny.
I must have stood on it walked past it and around several times before I found it and then .... Finally. TFTC 3D'sRwe

A good challenge with a good "view". Took a while to find. . Clone Trouper came up with the cache which was in a tricky spot. Lexal was grateful the cache was found. Should have put trust in the GPS.

05-Nov-11
We searched high and low and have the scratches and bites to prove it. Enjoyed the beautiful view and cave but r realizing we're not very good at finding these things. A hint would have been really helpful.

Feared we were too late for orchids but found some higher up and there was a variety of other colourful flowers and lots of butterflies , at least 3 different ones. Glorious day with a breeze we were thankful for. What a view and a pleasant walk that was well within our limits. The search took longer than the trip up - we so nearly passed it in!! PINO TFTC

We had decided to tack the Piccaninny onto our walk up Mt Sturgeon and were glad we did. We were greeted with more great views, some of which had been denied to us yesterday, and yet more magnificent windflower displays along the way Big Grin.

Once we had taken in the views from the top, it was down to the business at hand. The GPSrs were all over the place, which had us all going for while, but eventually it was LZZ(f) who beat us to Scotland (rather than the other way round Wink) at 15:15.

TNLNSL, although our Signal geocoin had a visit to mark the occasion. Thanks Sirus01.

Found at 3:15pm with LinearZZ and Eudes on a Grampians bushwalking weekend. Having just completed Mt Sturgeon walk we decided to cotinue with Piccaninny while we could still walk.enjoyed the walk up and the views when we got there. Lots of orchids and other wildflowers on the way. Cache was found after searching for a while.

Had no luck here. Ground was very wet & slippery following the storms but I carefully found the cave { greasy floor) & a suspicious broken bottle bottom dagerously placed in a hole. Interestingly met 2 Israelis on walk; I picked up a sleepy Lizard [new to them) they took several photos of it but no way would touch it. He had a smile on his face as he wandered on his way into the bush. Made the effort worthwhile.

Found with my class of 5/6/7's while staying at the Grampians Retreat just down the hill. Took all 22 of us about 20 minutes to locate the cache. I should have trusted the GPS from the start. Kids who did the walk and found the cache with me were: Leigh, Brenton, Tayla, Lisa, Katie, Tara, Amy, James, Madeline, Alexandra, Jack, Bradley, Darcey, Zac, Caleb, Melanie, Maddison, Michael, James and Tania. A great time was had by all!

Bravely found by our "chief cacher" (She's loving the title Demath) on indeed a very cold day. We especially enjoyed this one as it had been elusive to a few cachers before us. We had an exhilarating bushwalk in the rain (new for us) with Demath with cupcakes at the top. Nearly ran out of fuel on the way home to add to an adventurous day! An enjoyable cache - Thanks to Sirus.

29-Jun-10
found in company of graham&megal, well more accurately- found BY graham&megal, I just happend to be nearby...
An exellent piece of spotting by their chief cacher, this is quite a tricky hide.Today was the coldest day so far this year (top of 7deg.) and quite a bit colder at Ninnipic, but we pushed on......as one does...suprisingly despite the heavy cloud cover and rain the gps got us within 4.5m, got to be happy with that!

Ground Zero was not an expected place as there were several rocky outcrops around it that fitted the description better, but still we searched and searched and searched hoping to start a new year of caching off with a FTF but ended up with only a DNF.
We ended up covering a circle about 30 metres from GZ looking in every nook & cranny and still didn't come up with the goods!
However we spent quite a bit of time up there enjoying to sights & sounds and for this I thank you.
