Logs

24-Nov-17
After nearly 8 years we have decided to archive this one - time for something new in the area.

09-Nov-17
It seems that the hide at WP1 is missing so I'm not sure why robnzh didn't leave an NM.

Here it is!

09-Nov-17
That was because I am in direct contact with the CO.

09-Nov-17
Will sort out soon. Away down south on holiday at present.

09-Nov-17
Thanks for your help robnzh

08-Nov-17
Checked WP1 at owner's request as they are unable to do so at the moment.
Confirmed that what you need there to get the final coordinates is missing.

07-Nov-17
I thought I knew what to look for at WP1 having read the log by jw_nz, but there was nothing at WP1 that fitted that idea. I spent a few minutes casting about for other possible hides but without success.

Add to watch list and return if someone logs a find.

07-Nov-17
I haven't yet managed to find WP2 after several visits but I do know what WP1 is, and am likely to be able to take a look in a day or two to see if it's there (unless the CO advises they will be doing so in the meantime.)

10-Aug-17
cache replaced with a camoed mint container

03-Jan-17
Appears to have gone for a swim to Rona Bay, will replace when we're next over that way.
Thanks to **kevbiggins** for finding it and alerting us Smile

06-Dec-16
Another DNF today -no likely item in the probable spot?

06-Jul-16
Another awesome cache!! Thanks

02-Jul-16
Tftc

01-Apr-16
Found with help from jw_nz

28-Mar-16
Nice urban illusion only found it on this attempt as I found the one at the top of the road the other day and knew the sort of thing to look for
Once I got the coords nice easy find for the final

26-Mar-16
Awesome a real challenge for us and the kids

27-Feb-16
Solved wp1 in record time but sadly I'm a bit flummoxed as to the final :/

04-Jan-16
Did this in two parts today as when we made our way to WP2 there were several groups of muggles in all directions nearby so went off and found Homestead View (eventually!). By the time we came back GZ was a little quieter and we were able to make the find quite quickly TFTC

06-Dec-15
#1531. After attending the nearby puzzle solving event cache and then the flash-mob search for the drawp hanging in the park cache, I was feeling on a roll here. I had tried for this cache previously but came unstuck by some persistent muggles talking on their cellphones. Only had a few minutes to search before I had to head home. So pulled up today and there was no one around. So plenty of time for a good fossick. And yep the container was in the places I had searched last time. Just a lot easer to find when the time pressure is off. Signed the logbook and returned as found. Thanks for the fun multi.

01-Nov-15
#2090 Another perfect day for a bike ride so off I went to find a couple more caches. Didn't take too long to spot the needed object at WP1- very clever! The final took a wee bit longer as I made an assumption that proved to be incorrect. A great multi, many thank! TFTC!

13-Sep-15
Red Face So embarrassing we did not find it!:(

04-Jul-15
Second attempt at this one. First time I had to abandon my attempt due to the GZ being inundated with muggles. All quiet this morning so a quick find was had. TFTC

26-Jun-15
Well this is embarrassing Red Face I searched the GZ on the wrong side. The correct side also provides better concealment so I don't know why I didn't look there in the first place. There is certainly still a problem with muggles particularly on weekends but the WP1 idea is just so good I have to award a FP.

24-Jun-15
Quick find of WP1 and loaded up the coordinates. Had a good fossick around the GZ but people coming and going from the nearby business meant it was not easy to search for long stints today. Might try it as a nightcache some stage.

17-May-15
Quick we multi before tackling the ridgeline

17-May-15
A quick find with TregearP. Surprisingly busy for a Sunday morning. All in good order.

TFTC.

17-May-15
Found the first part fairly quickly. It was fun! Went to gz and had a bit of a hunt around until some people started playing nearby. I look forward to trying again next time we are in the area.

15-May-15
Had sorted WP1 the other day and checked out the final but saved the log signing for the following day (dot day). But alas the weather happened. Cache quickly in hand tonight all ok and log nice and dry. TFTC.

13-May-15
Solved WP1 on the second visit about a year ago (a very clever hide). The final was always too well guarded by muggles (on one occasion literally hundreds). Today the coast was clear and I got time for a good search (other than one muggle that snuck up on me). However no cache came to hand so I went to try an alternative cache (also unfound - notice it's the 13th). By the time I came back smoking muggles occupied the GZ.

01-Mar-15
Got the first half but the rain forced a hasty retreat. I will get this another day.

28-Feb-15
I was about to leave empty handed on my second visit when I realised that WP1 was staring me in the face. Thanks for such a brilliant idea.

In contrast WP2 was very ordinary and almost boring Smile.

09-Jan-15
found thanks

15-Nov-14
TFTC found on second visit can't believe I missed it first time here.

01-Nov-14
TFTC. Finally tracked this pesky blighter to its lair.

01-Oct-14
Our first multi cache!! Loved it.

01-Oct-14
Found it! First multi cache! Tftc

14-Sep-14
I had found the illusion a while back, although it took me a while to spot the thing that wasn't quite right. My first attempt at the final was thwarted by lack of time, more than anything. Upon finding the cache I had the right idea, just the wrong execution. TFTC

Found with the 3bearsnz

30-Aug-14
Found waypoint 1 for this a few weeks ago but due to to many muggles at GZ we couldn't complete the search, came back today and had the cache in hand in no time. TFTC

17-Jul-14
Good hide at wp1. Was acting like a troll the first time we tried to find the final in the rain. Back today between the showers and geogirl make a quick find with a hint from a friend.

29-Jun-14
Could find anything or any clues. It would be a big help if I get a big hint from the cache owner. Otherwise a good walk

28-Jun-14
I really enjoyed this one. TFTC

20-Jun-14
A surprisingly quick find of WP1 and the final, nice work with the WP. Tftc.

07-Jun-14
Had been to this one a couple of times without much success, had some time to stay think about it this time, the clue was right there all that time. Final was an easy find and signed. Deserves a fav point from me.

04-May-14
Find #1912. Not the best of days but ok if you don't mind a little wet. Left the car at the bottom of Ngauranga and cycled SH2 on a short journey of lower Hutt City caches. I had looked at this one a few months back but for some reason this time the answer was obvious. Must be experience. Harder part was to find the final - soooo many hiding spots. Got there in the end. SL TFTC

20-Feb-14
So obvious when you know what it is. Easy find at the logbook. Job done. Very ingeniously hidden first point. Great cache. Tftc

19-Feb-14
Yes yes yes!!! I just couldn't understand what this was and how people were finding it!

I received a hint from cache owner yesterday (thanks so much!) which sent me down the completely wrong (but logical - i thought) path. After looking at what we thought was the final for a while we went back to WP1 when I finally solved it!

Looking back it's obvious (especially after the hint) and it was the first thing I thought of, then discarded. I will never forget this cache, it's a big lesson not to discount anything.

Thanks so much!

19-Feb-14
Very, very tricky. Glad to tick this one off the list. TFTC. Very clever.

18-Feb-14
Thanks for checking on this so quickly. I went and had another look tonight (visit 4) and still couldn't see anything remotely clue like.

I guess I'll just have to leave it a while and see if anything comes me.

Thanks again Smile

17-Feb-14
Waypoint and final checked and both in the places they should be.

15-Feb-14
Thus hasn't been found for months. I've been to the first waypoint a couple of times and can't find anything. I'm unsure if this is still here or if I can find it.

Could CO Please confirm if first clue is still there?

Thanks. Smile

09-Nov-13
that was an elegant puzzle:)

02-Nov-13
Well, no bag, and a film container, not an eclipse. )) but found anyway

03-Oct-13
At WP1 found only spiders.

02-Sep-13
Surprisingly quickly found today. GPS lead me right to the correct spot, and lo & behold there was the cache. I had been here twice over winter (admittedly in failing light both times) but i'm certain i'd searched the same location a number of times and totally missed the cache, thinking it might be missing. Red Face

After seeing recent 'found' logs for this one i went back and spotted it in about 30 seconds. A bit of a head-scratcher for me ... but that's geocacheing for you isn't it!?!Big Grin

TFTC! (very pleased to have found this one)

31-Aug-13
I found this in about three stages, and can't remember when I actually signed the log. First I found part one when I was heading in the other direction, and didn't have time to look for part 2. Then another day i found part 2 and didn't have a pen...

27-Aug-13
Was at work trying to decide when I was going to be able to get a cache today, when Mrs 1Grunta turned up with the GPS and said lets go find a cache.
Quick find on the Urban Illusion, and had to dodge some muggles for the final, but pretty quick nevertheless.
TFTC

18-May-13
WP1 found easily but came up empty after an extensive search at final. Will need to come back another day to search. Cheers!

23-Jan-13
2nd container removed

19-Jan-13
Second time lucky finding this one! Clue was easy if you know what you're looking for, find not so much Smile Like previous finder noted two containers, signed both and will contact owner wrt what they want to do. TFTC

19-Jan-13
2nd container noted thank you, will remove one next week.

15-Dec-12
Spotted the clue straight away, but only because I have seen this type before. Very clever and very sneaky. Took a while to find the cache at GZ and when I did there were two containers! First time I have found more than what I was looking for. I couldn't decide which log to sign so I signed them both Smile TFTC

30-Oct-12
Its still there! Smile

29-Oct-12
Still no luck here, searched (as I thought) every nook and cranny that fitted the hint but came up with nothing. Hope it hasn't gone again already!
Fortunately the activity was in another building over the road, and was quite impressive to listen to as it could be heard from GZ, but it meant that there was nobody close enough to pay attention to me.

26-Oct-12
In view of the owners' prompt attention to the replacement cache I thought it was only right that I should make a further attempt as soon as I should. However first there were kids playing nearby, I thought I might be able to get round that one as they were a short distance away but then as I approached the venue I could smell what was probably a barbecue, lots of cars at a nearby location and a muggle prohably related to the function within sight of GZ. Not logging as a DNF as I didn't get within cooee of attempting it!

23-Oct-12
Thanks for the reminder robnzh, completely slipped our minds. All up and running again now. Changed from a 35mm film canister to an eclipse tin in a camo bag.

21-Oct-12
Any news on this one, having found the clue (not to mention the decoy!) some time ago keen to have another go at it.

05-Sep-12
I can't find it either, will replace soon.

01-Sep-12
Found WP, but no luck with the final. I'm sure it is just us!

02-Jun-12
Still no luck at the final. Decoy full size cache is still there so made a note in its log that it is not the multi final, with no mention of which multi is involved, so peoplle don't log it in error.

21-Apr-12
Found no problem. The marae was all go with people practicing their hakas and songs. TFTC

15-Apr-12
I thought I found the final but something doesn't tie up, will email the owner as I think there may be an accidental decoy!

15-Apr-12
The find that wasn't! If you find a cache which is not a micro the owner has confirmed that it is not theirs. So I have still got this one left to complete the series after all.

13-Apr-12
Finally.... Took several goes but we got it

Cache #454 - this was the third attempt - at least - for Downunder Wanderer and myself. FOund it this time within a minute of looking, and felt rather foolish that we had missed it before. Nice hiding location. Very glad to get this one off the list, as we have invested as much time in this cache as almost any other I have done. Smile

18-Mar-12
After finally finding WP1 was hoping I could finish this one, but no luck at the final. Still felt a bit uncomfortable here, some muggles passed by when searching, not sure if they saw me or not but I was partially obscured so was hoping they didn't.
Think I interpreted the hint correctly, seemed only one way it made any sense, but looked and felt everywhere I could think of without success.
(Coincidentally I was muggled by the CO earlier when sussing out a possible location for a new cache and when planning to subsequently do this and also work on another of their multis (with more success than this one though not enough time to complete the final stages) - turned out they had been thinking along the same lines as me for a new cache placement!)

16-Mar-12
My first Multi. Didnt realise this was a multi when brought it up when caching nearby. Fortunately had seen a similar Urban Illusion. Then had to find the final. Wasnt too sure where and was walking away when decided to re-read info which helped. Amazed how few people around on a fine Friday evening. TFTC.

06-Mar-12
Only took about two years to find WP1, and was on the point of giving up again when I thought about a possibility, had already eliminated something likely but then as I walked away I realised with that attempt maybe I was onto something and BINGO! (Experience helped as I had heard about and come across some related ideas in the recent past.)

Was getting dark and didn't look like the final was a good spot to be hanging around at night with muggles nearby, not to mention that it was getting close to time for my bus so decided I had better leave it for now. So I can't really say DNF in view of the very cursory recce. Here's hoping!

Finding this would only leave U 1.1 (which I have had a few tries at but mostly thwarted by weather darkness or muggles apart from the actual challenge!) perhaps I had better leave that one in case I complete the series in which J'N'K might add another even more devious one Razz

31-Jan-12
Found while touring the district with Biggles. Another good challenge and although Biggles spotted the WP first I came up with the cache. Thanks.

30-Jan-12
Found this cache with Kiwi Explorer on a most enjoyable and productive three day caching trip in Wellington and Wairarapa. Apologies in advance for the rather template state of this log. We found over 200 caches in our visit which has left me with rather vague and blurred memories of some of them. Anything that really stood out will get a special mention. The illusory WP was quickly spotted. Final location proved to be more of a challenge. We managed to dodge muggles and get it in the end though. TFTC, Biggles.

Downunder Wanderer and I tried this one again. No luck today, but we won't give up!

22-Jan-12
Great hide, we love this series! Makes us think Smile

14-Jan-12
Very clever, we looked like such idiots to the passers-by, then just when I was ready to give up, Geo-gran decided to touch what I had already looked at about a hundred times (but once again, I failed to touch...when will I ever learn!)

Tried this one again. Got the first waypoint mark - very clever! No luck at final coordinates, but didn't have much time to search. Will try again soon.

30-Nov-11
Final now replaced in a different location so if you have already found WP1 then you will have to go and re-check. Hint updated.

28-Nov-11
Yes, sadly tree has gone. Will find an alternative hiding spot soon.

22-Nov-11
Been stuck on this one for I don't know how long (even when it was available) but never mind!
But I just wanted to take the opportunity to congratulate J'N'K on their 3000th find.

21-Nov-11
Looks like this has gone for good Sad will check on our return from down south

21-Nov-11
would normally be able to check this one straight away as it is just down the road from us, but we are down south at present so won't be able to check for a week. keep watching!

19-Nov-11
Enjoyed WP1 very much- took just a couple of minutes as you drill down through all the options- then on to the GZ. After wandering a bit we finally started reading our GPS properly and it took us to a place where it seems a rather large feature has recently been removed from the landscape. We searched other spots a fair bit but in the back of our mind was that this recent work may have disturbed the cache. So we ended up with a DNF. We'll watchlist this one just to see if others make the find.

05-Nov-11
Found the waypoint pretty quickly. I had originally suspected it was the twin of what it ended up being. I've come across a couple of waypoints like this before.

The final was a challenge due to the growth and the muggles who had just finished playing.

After about 5 minutes I turned it up.

03-Nov-11
Found on a night time Hutt Valley caching mission with some hints from kjwx. Went to a tangi across the road earlier this week. TFTC

18-Oct-11
Checked and still there. Have added a hint, this has been hidden here for 5 years now (previously was the start of Te Atiawa Explorer) so things have grown a lot since then and have made it harder to find.

17-Oct-11
Went to check the final today but there were at least two people waiting in cars near GZ so had to abandon. Will try again soon.

15-Oct-11
Found the needed information quickly at the waypoint. Went to the final and doubted ourselves so back to reconfirm co-ordinates - which had been correctly recorded. Back to the same area where the GPS gave us a series of spots to check - without success.

Must be very clever for the waypoint. At least a half hour searching revealed nothing. Will try again later.

02-Sep-11
Checked the waypoint and the final and both are ok.

08-May-11
Another very enjoyable hide in the totally fun UI series which I am slowly working my way through as time permits. This brings my tally up to 8 so I still have some fun to look foward to. TFTC

20-Feb-11
WP1 is a beautiful spot and a most devious illusion, thanks J 'N' K.

16-Jan-11
Dropping off our new TB to start its journey.
