Logs
By the way, the log is slimey and saturated. My signature is more of a dent than an inked line. New log required, and maybe double containering as well.
I am going overseas soon and will more than likely not be able to do anything for the cache for about 3 to 4 months so have decided to archive it. Will collect container on my next walk up there.
The plan was to get to John Tait Hut. But it is hosing down, Charlotte was getting wet, despite the rain coat (Karen and I were still dry), so 20 minutes on from the swing bridge here, we aborted. Three hours, and not quite half way. Sad, as I had a cache ready to place at the hut too. And not a small either. Oh well, I'll save it for somewhere else. So we turned around. By the time we got back to the bridge the rain had stopped and it stayed dry for the rest of the day. Tomorrow (Sunday) turned out to be a beautiful day, but we are a bit trapped here as brother-in-law is coming in to meet us on Monday, so Karen and I made do with a walk to Whiskey Falls, including bush bashing (grass whacking?) across the estuary instead of taking the trail.
Man, what a neat walk that is to the falls. Some of the streams are so awesome. The bush here is weird, for me anyway. I have been through heaps of beach forest, but usually (for me) the ground is carpeted in crown ferns. Here it is just easy walking open dirt.
In short, this is an awesome area. Thanks for bringing me here, Karen and Bumandworker!

An interesting twist of events had me driving a van, fully set up for sleeping and camping, so I immediately applied for leave on Friday and looked for a suitable destination. St. Arnaud has been on the cards again for some time, so it was a no brainer to head in this direction! On Saturday, I decided to take a walk around Lake Rotoiti all the way through the swing bridge. Not because I was trying to keep my feet dry, but there were a couple more caches that way! It was definitely not a cold day, and I kept reapplying sunscreen and insect repellent the whole way. Excellent tramp, highly recommended!! Logbook soaked as previously mentioned. Thanks for all the caches that made the day so enjoyable!!!

Found with NZDi. This weekend is Marlborough Anniversary weekend and after a couple of hectic months stuck around the house, we decided to treat ourselves to an extra long weekend at St Arnaud, so with a successful draw in the RNZAF holiday home ballot we headed to the Nelson Lakes for four nights in another part of the country we call paradise.
Today is also a Dot Day, so getting a cache out of town is always good for that mission and by the end of the day I wont need to worry about the 27th of October until we are going for 13-Days.
Yesterday we cycle-cached some of the Teetotal Flat mountain bike park on our MTBs. Today we 'Looped the Lake' going clockwise and taking 11 hours to complete (including going up to the Travis Swing Bridge). After a bit of a false start while we had to go back to the house to pick up something NZDi left behind, we finally got onto the track at 8.10am. this was the fifth of twelve caches we picked up today.
In the intervening eight months since the last find, the cache container has filled up with water and the paper log book is sodden. We didn't have the time or the sunshine to dry out the log sufficiently to record our names and our cache repair kit had not been replenished since last weekends trip to Golden Bay where were did a maintenance run on B&W's caches. Sistema click-clack containers are notorious for leaking and for a while now I only use Rite-in-the-Rain log sheets in all of my caches.

Found on the first day of our tramp on the Travers Sabine circuit. A bit damp and only just able to sign it. The day was extremely warm and we were starting to look forward to our final stop 6km away.
Found it with "FrenchSuperTrampNiko" on our hiking Te Araroa trail.
TFTC!:)

Had 4 Days, 3 Nights walking the Travers-Sabine Circuit. GPS-Good/Cache-Too Wet to sign the log /Hint was Good/Weather was Great.TFTC.
TFTC. Found together with AlpineNina on the tramp to John Tait hut. Easy find but logbook/cache is really wet so that signing is impossible.
Found the cache after some searching. It urgently needs maintenance. The log book was so wet, that writing in it was not possible anymore.
Found during the Sabin Travers Circuit track. That was an amazing experience and one of the best tracks in New Zealand. Thank you so much for the cache, because it was nice bonus during this walk!
I really enjoy spending time in New Zealand, I just love it here. Its nature, people and adventures I am passing through. Awesome place, thank you very much for introducing to myself and for the cache itself Sorry for late logging, I have some problems with internet access during travelling.
Checked out the new location on the way up the valley. Pleased to see that it has been moved to a safer spot after last summer's visit. Cache in good condition.
Found eventually, GPS hadme wandering around a bit but all good in the end on a wet Nelson Lakes day. TFTC.
Walked in via the east side of the lake past Lakehead hut. I hadn't seen anyone else on the track since about 30 minutes out of the car park but as I reached the swing bridge I could see a couple of hunters had just passed on the other side heading the other way. Once across I stopped for a breather and then went off to find the cache. All good in its new hiding place. TFTC, Biggles.

After reading last note will try and get there within the month to move it or disable it if not a suitable spot for it
Walked up from Lake Head Hut on our rest day. Need to be careful with this one as the river is undercutting the bank and it is now quite close to the edge. DoC has moved the bridge supports back and built a new structure for the bridge anchors so be careful when accessing the cache. TFTC
Walked past sans clue 2 days before then found my clue list on the way back for an easy find. TFTC Container a bit wet but log book still dry in its bag.
First cache of 2012 and first of the day on a walk down the Cascades track from Angelus and back to St Arnaud up the eastern side of the lake. Cache was a quick find, went straight to it. Signed log, TFTC!
Decided i needed a walk so went to check on cache. All dry.Camped up here over night and fished the river now one less trout.Walked out in the rain but still great weekend
Great family walk. Our junior cachers had fun 'discovering' this area. Cache was slightly buried, but right where it was meant to be. TFTC
I found some good hide-outs at the coordinates, unfortunately none of them contained a cache.
We were on our nine day tramp around Nelson Lakes. After a hard day in we were about to cancel the whole trip (not used to a heavy backpack anymore and slightly out of tramping-shape). But a wise hut warden convinced us to have a good pocket full of sleep first and then make the call the next morning. Good that we listened to him. It was the best tramp of our life so far.
This cache was scheduled for our morning tea break on the way from Lakehead Hut to John Tait Hut. The weather was great and sandflies were kept at bay with a nice dose of Deet. So with one more find and a great morning tea with scroggin and muesli bars, we continued our tramp.

Had a thorough look for this one while tramping up the Travers valley in light falling snow. Returned 4 days later and again checked the likely hint object and widened the search, but still no success unfortunately.
2nd finder....a favorite mission for us is to paddle then jog to Tait. Was allowed to tag along behind geoguru and rising fitness/tramping machine, so jogged in 2 1/4 hrs from Robert Rd to cache. Met up with said guru just after Coldwater. he was floundering around off trail, but offered to wait for me if I did not mention he looked lost ! Good to be up here again. We enjoyed an hour in the sun, watched the swing being used by a tramper, then we were chased off by even more rain. Brilliant cache thanks
Who could ever believe what Bum says? Parts of his story are grounded in truth however. For those of us not inclined to run, we got to the cache at a leisurely 3h 45. The highlight was sitting in the middle of nowhere chewing the fat with good company. Thanks for bringing us here - I've ordered the tent so soon I won't have to make everything an epic walk. That said, recovery is good - up to the ridge with some other caching buddies tomorrow! TFTC #CS#.
