WA Big Trip Winter 2024. Day 45 - Collie day. It rained all night and it rained on and of fall day. I spent lots of time in the car waiting for rain to ease and way too much time running back to the car as the rain got too heavy. I am rally impressed by the ground drainage, some of the dirt tracks I went on were great despite all the rain. It was a difficult day, A few more DNFs than I would have like, but I did get to visit quite a few very interesting places and the tourist drive along the river was amazing. In the end I just went home and cooked dinner and watched TV, a bit unusual for me on a trip.My visit to Cardiff was a nice short side trip. Not much going on here. Three caches and three finds. This was a nice quick find in a wet cluster of trees. Thanks for the cache senn corp47622.6 TNLNVisited: World Traveling Gold GC A#6 & March 2020 Guarding Gaia 2 A#421**Albida**
This one was out in the open, signed and put at go coords. Nice part of the country here ! TFTC
Walking towards the cache after parking at the start of town when a neighbour yelled out from a distance "Are you looking for a geocache? I don't think its there some kids found it!" ....we said thanks but we'll have a quick look anyways!Cache was there and quickly signed and returned to its spot. Spoke to the neighbour again walking back and she said that kids play there alot and they showed her a cache full of water and she surmised that maybe their mum cleaned it up and made them return it. The sistema did seem new but it looked like the original logbook in it with loads of logs..... we will never know if that actually happened but the cache is still there and the neighbour seemed friendly enough We thoroughly enjoyed our walk around this cute little townThank you senn corp for placing and maintaining Manage the Mine for us and others to find and enjoy!
Quick find in a lovely location. Love being amongst the pine needles! Found with Redrobbin25. Tftc
Cache is completely waterlogged due to the container having a cracked lid. Log book completely unusable.
After tackling the series out by the lake this was the only cache in Cardiff we hadn’t put a smiley on. So this become our next target. A brief search at gz turned up the prize and we added our names to your log. We returned your cache back to where it hides. I love these big old trees here, thanks for bring us here. TFTC sent corp.
A day trip to the area with axell33 and enjoying the scenery along the way. I loved the little houses here, but the pine trees here were amazing. It was a quick find. Thanks for the hide here.
Today TaurusSix and I decided to do a circular drive collecting outstanding and recently newly placed caches. Our journey took us from Bunbury through Collie out to Cardiff and Lake Kepwari, on to Bowelling and Darkan before hitting the Albany Highway north to Williams and has it has now become customary having a lovely lunch at the Williams Wool Shed. Then back to Collie before home to Bunbury. It was a cool and chilly Autumn morning when we set off , very overcast and looking like it might rain any minutes. It warmed up throughout the morning and for the most part it stayed dry until the end of the day. We ended up collecting 20 geocaches and all in all I had wonderful geocaching day out.
This was our third cache find of the day. We have not been out to this area before, clearly a well mined historical area. The gps played up at first so had us in the wrong spot , we soon realised the error of our ways and spotted the likely hide. Definitely needed to keep an eye out for rabbit burrows. Thanks for the cache sent corp

The Cockburn Crew were out on the road to cleanup Wellington Dam in Collie. Rendezvous was 6.00am in Pinjarra, to allow us to get cracking on the day’s work early. Thanks to all the COs who placed caches for our enjoyment today. Cheers senn corp!
Join me at the 10th anniversary of WAGB in Narrogin on Friday 2 June to Monday 5 June 2023. There’ll be plenty of geocaching fun to be had, I can’t wait to see you there!

G’day senn corp, unfortunately I wasn’t able to find your cache today (Sunday 15/5/2022). Cheers for the hunt anyway!
Even with all the hot dry weather lately the cache was still very wet. With signing duties done made our way to Lake Kepwari.
Out and about with richlink. The cache was damp inside so we dried it out as best we could. Thanks Sen corp we had a great day.
Went at night and ended up walking around for ages in circles but when we found it it was very obvious TFTC
Took a drive down to Collie to check out Lake Kepwari for a future camping trip
Stopped in to make any easy find of your cache. TFTC

Another smiley thanks. Left out in the open. Placed a bit of cover over it. Thanks my4b for doing duties
Log book is soaked. Drained some water out. But couldn’t sign. Familysteiner has photo. Tftc
Found but the cache was full of water and the logbook was not able to be signed. Interesting location though. Tftc
Nice fun find! It is a little water damaged so we couldn't log in the book. We also got swooped by magies still a great spot
Was staying with my in-laws in Collie Cardiff over Easter. Had never thought to check if there was a cache out here but lo and behold there is! Found it easily. Log is still damp. TFTC, senn corp!
Found it siting out in the open. The log is wet. Rehid at the base of a tree.
Nice location for a bit of history!

TFTC! A HUGE day out caching up a storm with Cravo10 in the lovely south of this great state of ours, namely in the coal mining town of Collie.
We met up in Pinjarra, and grabbed three of the Multi caches in town, a lovely LKA which provided a nice walk around the historic cemetery and another instalment in the well known and highly regarded Zoom in caches. After completing the multi caches we headed down south west highway grabbing the few remaining caches we had on the highway that are either new or we've missed on previous visits.
We made our way along coalfield highway towards the collie township, completing the Footy Teams series as we went. We encountered some neat camo caches, with all caches being nice quick and easy finds, unfortunately a number of the micro type caches have had a tough winter and need new log books due to water and mould. Still a great series and well put together by blaze169.
We then made our way into Collie, with not much to find around town as we've visited twice before and there doesn't seem to be any active cachers in town anymore to publish new caches which is a real shame.
We went around town collecting stuff on the outskirts of town including wet and wild which we managed to grab in the 4wd and the EArth cache which was a nice addition to the area in a very deserving spot.
We found our way back along the highway to pinjarra after amassing 35 odd finds and a solid days effort, can't wait to come back down this way to complete the ready player one series, the snake island t5 cache and the new caches in Harvey which seems to be booming currently. Until next time, thanks to the local COs for their caches.

TFTH spent the day out with Barnzy12 again today as he had planned a trip to Collie and needed a driver again, let's face it I wanted to come along. We met in Pinjarra and made our way out from there. After completing the AFL series we made a few other finds around the place and after a few hours we then headed back to Pinjarra.
Most were found in good condition TNLN.

Found after a quick search with the geokids. Facinating peice of forgotten history. Cache was a bit damp, so if someone has a bit of time next first to let it sit in the sun it might help. Tffc
Found cache out in the open. Also spotted a few rabbits. Regis cache, all good.
Started off the day by scratching ice off my car windscreen with a shopper rewards card. With that sorted I was soon on my way to the nice quiet township of Cardiff. Bit frosty here and there but I soon had the cache found. Great start to the day. Tftc
Tftc nice quick find. Log very wet. Kids loved playing amongst the pine trees. Thanks for bringing us here. I grew up in collie and had never been to Cardiff.
Passed this spot numerous times in the last 6 months and finally time to make a quick detour. Interesting piece of history. Cache was easily found, a bit damp inside but log is fine. TFTC senn corp.
I happened to pass within 3km of here for work so decided I'd pay a visit. I can say it's still there. Cache had some water in it but the log was dry. Sweet.
Our very first go at geocaching, found the spot OK and then it took a while but eventually we worked out how to use the GPS and found the cache. Lots of trinkets inside, kids loved it, took two and replaced with two.
Enjoyed our look around Cardiff. A very quiet Sunday afternoon - almost too quiet! Not a soul around.

It was sitting out in the open a bit, so it was re-covered with some pine needles. A curious local nearby had to come for a chat, but all was okay. TNLN TFTC
Nice place. Had to fight our way through the grey sticky trees though.
Last person didn't hide it very well though as it was completely bare except for a small piece of bark.
Anyway, TFTC.
