Cracking spot this! Beautiful views of the wooded hills on the other side of the highway too.Not entirely sure what this building is for! But certainly learned plenty about Mrs Gilmore, including her trip to Paraguay which was certainly news to me. Thanks!
After way too long searching on the wrong corner I read previous logs and decided I should reevaluate which side was the front. Soon after the cache was found in great condition. Thank you SDL for the cache!
The weather was horrible and wet, perfect day for a ride! [B)]
I came down this way because the last cache I thought I found in Gilmore for the suburb challenge ended up being in the next suburb over!
This one hadn't been found in a while, but the cache was still in the same place it should have been, now with a cache guardian that left lots of little presents near the clip [|)]. At least there was a bit of shield from the structure. Still not sure what it is for as the area seems pretty mixed-use.
Thanks for the story of the $10 note as well, I knew vaguely who was on it, but not the whole story and the story of 'New Australia' has been captured on the song 'Virgin Ground' by Redgum for those interested in that part of the story. TFTC.

Found during a brief south side excursion. Cache in pretty good nick.
Dame Mary Gilmore used to teach at my primary school. Naturally she taught there a little (somewhere between seven and nine decades) before I attended the place. One of the school houses (the green one) was named after her.
Rumour has it that back in the late 19th century a certain fellow called Henry Lawson would wait outside the school, waiting for Mary to finish, so that he could hang out with her. Mary was obviously something pretty special, and it's cool that one of Canberra's suburbs is named after her.
TFTC SDL!

Passing through the suburbs and stopped off for a quick pick-up with Contesta. TFTC Sol de lune.
TFTC Needed this one to complete my Canberra Mapping Challenge, finally finished it off today. Yay me! Great day for caching today, thanks to the CO for placing and maintaining this cache.
Thanks to some of the other logs I felt courageous enough to go over the fence (well, I went under... thankfully the horse dung is dry). I had other Ideas to what the front is and looked in the wrong place first, but eventually came up with the goods.
TFTC and the history.
Just heard on the Radio that another influencial woman has died - Ruth Bader Ginsberg.

This was a late night find after a day on the slopes. Wasn't a huge fan of this cache....I couldn't help but think there was someone camped out in the shed watching me hunt for a cache!! TFTC!
Was unable to see a way to this without climbing a fence. Easy find with the hint. Thanks
Number 2 son (B0tmun) had a performance at the Moon Festival this afternoon so we headed in early with fitzy_1965 and met up with GLISS! to collect the last few suburbs needed for the Canberra Suburb Challenge cache.
Quick find here today once we found our way through a couple of fences. Last suburb crossed off before going to find the final!

A quick find in good condition. How cool is the amenities block idea. Shame it's not open.
Its a beautiful day, I can't settle into my study so I'm out collecting caches in suburbs I've never explored. Tftc.

#15642. Day 8 of our 2 weeks holiday in the ACT and surrounds. We are staying at Carwoola.
Robmc was keen to visit The Tidbinbilla Deep Space Centre today and what a glorious day it was to be out in this lovely Autumn-coloured countryside. The poplars are so golden at present and such a lovely feature of the landscape. A bit of a different day to yesterday - clear blue skies and a mild temperature. It was certainly the most scenic day we have had so far. Total smilies for the day - 36.
Making our way back to Carwoola via a few caches needed for our Canberra Mapping Challenge. Interesting cache page outlining the Dame's life. Such interesting lives some of these people led back then. Looks like no ponies have been in this area for a while. A quick find and sign and onwards we go.
Thanks Sol de lune

Day eight in Queanbeyan. BettyBoo3747 and I decided to go visit the Tidbinbilla Deep Space Complex. Strangely enough, we found a few cache before we got there, while we were there, and after we left. We followed the Tourist Drive No.5.
How did Dame Gilmore's cache end up being under this shed?
She is an interesting person, and I didn't know most of her history.
Thanks, Robmc.

A day of cache collecting around Canberra - mostly with the aim of filling in a few suburbs, but scattered other caches included. A bit of searching soon uncovered this cache. TFTC!
Day 11: Clear Waters Mega Trip
Today was the day to attack the Southside of Canberra picking up our targeted caches.
Thanks Sol de lune for being part of my Clear Waters adventure.

Found with no problems on an afternoon of caching around the Tuggeranong area.
Looks like this place has been unused for a very long time.

Looks like it has been a long time since pony club met. It took me a while before I worked out which was the front of the building. lol. Once that was sorted, cache was instantly found. Tftc.
Thanks for another great suburb filler Sol. Even gained a TB. Cache is in good condition. TTb LN SL
Scaled the fence with bushwalkinggirl & thankfully found quickly on this hot day. Dropped off a TB. TFTC.
The destination of the Omnia Monday evening walk was Simpsons Hill so I arrived early and successfuly sought out four geocaches in Chisholm, Gilmore and Macarthur. This cache was a straightforward find, being in an obvious hiding spot on the coordinates. A somewhat delapidated building now; are children no longer joining pony clubs?Thank you Sol de lune for installing and maintaining this cache.
Okay, okay, I said in the log entry for the last cache I found that it was my last of the evening. Well, no actually. I realised I still had a bit of time up my sleeve so I swung past here with the intention of getting a cache for Gilmore for the Canberra Mapping Challenge. With darkness descending quickly upon me, I walked off in search of this cache. Very quickly all I found was a fence. I tried to walk around it but no, it goes on and on. I realised that gz is inside the fenced area. So I backtracked and jumped over two gates to get me to where I needed to go. In amongst the horse poo, I started searching for the cache. Turns out the first side I looked at of the hiding place was not the front. Tried the other side and was rewarded with the cache and a trackable too. TFTC
Once I worked out which side was the front, the cache was found. Three horses followed me around while searching.
Thanks,
Thanks,
After finding a nice spot to climb under the fence, it was a relatively straightforward find with good coordinates. Past logs helped. Thanks for the cache.
I was saving this one for a day when I was visiting my dad, as it is less than 100m from the house I spent almost 7 years living in.
Didn't take too long to spot the blighter, though I was surprised at all the fences around here.... they certainly werent here when I was a kid

It pays to look right, left, back and front if yr confused about front. Back to pushy to find another suburban cache.
#3893 2nd for today
A lovely warm autumn day, perhaps a bit too warm (30C) for this time of year. My aim today was to find caches in suburbs I had not found before, all towards meeting the requirements of GC5KB4J The Canberra Mapping Challenge. I made good progress today, hopefully grabbing all I need.
This one took a lot longer than anticipated as I assumed the front of the building was the one with the door. It's all open to interpretation I guess. I got stung on the finder by something unseen and it still hurts a bit several hours later. Nothing too serious though.
Thanks to the COs: Sol de lune

Well this was interesting figuring out how to get in with my wee one with me. I found some looser fence after some searching and supermaned her through the gap, then climbed through after. We toddled over to the gate and made our way through the long grass to the building. It was a quick find from there, then to re-trace our way back to the car to find another cache at a playground nearby. Tftc
The area is pretty fenced off, with an added layer of presumably electric fencing... Made it in unscathed though. After consulting previous logs and modifying the hint a bit, found the cache. Thanks Sol de lune
I suppose it depends on what you consider the front of the building to be. I chose incorrectly initially but, after correcting my error made a quick find. TFTC SdL
I could see where I had to be, it was just getting there?! So I walked from the front to the side and slipped through the very loose wire fence. Then walked over to the gate and through it simple enough. At the little building the coords were spot on and the cache was found. Went the more direct way back to the car, back through the gate, over the worn down fence near the other gate and out. Tftc!!!
TFTC. Gates, padlocks, fences, dark and cold. Eventually led to a very happy smiley face. Thanks SdL
With the first gate locked was still an easy climb through the loose fence but the second gate was unlocked so was able to walk through no problems. While waiting for a dog walker to pass sorted out the location so once out of sight a quick find here today. Thanks for the cache Sol de lune!
F(H)ound It! No.1361 - @2:20:00 PM
I was here a while back after finding a nearby noikmeister cache. I was put off by the padlock and the circumfence It looked so much like there was a proper pathway in, but twas a red herring. Today I had no such qualms. I went over and the RP went under and quickly accessed the structure and cache.
I have a handy toilet finding app on my phone but I dont think this one near the cache is marked on it . Thanks for the cache, Sol de lune

#1386 What is this area? After allowing myself in, I had the log at hand. TFBMH SDL.
Wow never new about this place thanks for bringing us here and thanks for the cache the ewoks
Out in the evening for two caching reasons, one to fill in caching calendar and two to cross off another suburb for map challenge. This fitted the bill nicely with a couple of others.
No ponys about tonight. I guess they all had a cough and were tucked up inside. feeling a little horse
Thanks for the find. Don't think I've been to this part of town.

A cache a day is getting tricky.
(belated because I'm a slacker only just logging my haul of caches.)
Thanks for this one. Found on the day with my family 4as1 team.
Thanks

Wow I didnt even know the pony club was here, found after school on a wet wednesday TFTC Found as part of 4as1
Found on a crisp morning before my travels to Sydney. It keeps my calendar streak alive and gets another suburb for the Canberra Mapping Challenge. At a Pony Club reminds me of my youth - I spent many years at a Victorian Pony Club. Good memories. TFTC Sol de lune
11:30am 13/3 - headed south for a few missing suburbs today. First stop was Gilmore - a suburb we had heard little about. Quick walk through the long grass and a find was made. TFTC Sol de Lune

After tonight's orienteering which was in Kambah, I made a beeline for this cache in the expectation that it will be another suburb crossed off the list towards the Canberra Mapping Challenge. Easily found once I realised which side was actually the correct side to look based on the hint. TFTC.

This was a neat little hide In fact I think I replaced the cache much better now then when I found it! It is completely concealed and fits nice and snug. Works really well if you ask me!

My family went a drive and few caches and it was very hot day. no problem cache. Signed the log. Thank you Sol de lune
Found it. Had to wait for someone walking their dog to pass by before signing the log. First find in the Tuggeranong suburb series and why not start with my suburb. TFTC
My gps had different ideas about which was the front of this building, but as its little bigger than the average garden shed, it didn't take long to check other possible locations and we came away find a find - number 499 for me! Thanks, Sol de lune
Another one done. Yay! I found this as part of a daily streak I am working on - over 100 days completed so far. The first month wasn't so bad, the 2nd month got harder, the 3rd I settled into a routine, but now it's getting more challenging to make sure I don't miss a day especially when I'm travelling for work.
I love the challenge of the geocache cache hunt - read the notes, decipher the cache requirements, and go searching for the hide. This is an amazing world wide game of hide and seek. I love it!
Thanks go to Sol de lune for placing this cache and maintaining it. It's a great contribution to the Geocaching community and much appreciated. I enjoyed finding this one. This cache was another "Found it" for me. TFTC! Cheers. [Blue]Jump Pilot[/Blue]

Swung by this one after a big day in the lab to nab this one for the nightly daily...and to knock another suburb off in the Canberra Mapping Challenge
Wandered in from the car and over a couple of fences to make the nice, quick find and sign, then the stash and dash back to the car
Thanks for another in the series, Sol

Decided to head deep into the South of Canberra this afternoon to collect a few caches in different suburbs after realising I am not far off having found caches in all the suburbs for the Canberra Mapping Challenge. Bobl27 and I collected 5 caches in different suburbs and finished off with a couple of fun Bridge Banters! We started far south and worked our way northwards - all caches looked for were found, signed and returned as found!
Third one for the day - Gilmore! And second one of this series. We were a bit worried about whether it would be there, as it had not been found for a while, it was found quickly tucked up in its little possie. We had to cross two fences to get to the GZ though - which may not have been the situation when the cache was first placed. Bobl27 also found a functioning heavy duty two way radio on the ground. We took it with us, but not sure what we are going to do with it!
Thanks Sol de Lune for the cache and this well placed series!

After circling some nearby fences, we found a way in and admired the old buildings. Small and rundown, I guess they are now a part of the local history.
It has been lovely to read about the suburbs of Tuggeranong. We still have plenty left to do!
Thanks SD,
Domsky

We were on our way to a southside client so we decided to stop for a quick cache. Was easy access as part of the fence is being rebuilt. Found in the first place we looked.
