Sir_Spectre and I went for a long weekend over to Victoria, we hosted some events and CITO's and was really impressed by all the people that made the effort to join us. Any caches that needed attention got it, with many log books being replaced or extras sheets added as needed. Thanks to all who placed and maintained caches for us to find
Quick find. Found with Mogni. The plan this October Long Weekend was to head over to Victoria and host 3 CITO's plus host my first geocaching event, also increase my finds to 20 in at least 5 victorian LGA's. Given that we were caching in the country alot of km's were travelled. The weather was raining on and off all saturday including the night time but by luck all 3 events that day were dry. The first CITO ( and the cache of the trip ) was in Kaniva at the wetlands, the next in CITO was in Dimboola at one of the rest areas, and placing a future challenage cache then slowly making our way to wycheproof canavan park which was our accomadation for the weekend and then up to Mount Wycheproof ( the smallest registered mountain in Australia - at 43metres tall ) for my coffee and sunset event. Sunday started off with a early 630 am CITO in the Mount Wycheproof wetlands reserve ( sorry i did forget about daylight savings when i made the time for the event but it was a dawn and light still ). Now off to swan hill ( which is my least favorite LGA to cache in ) and then a few more LGA's and back to the tent in the dark well past dinner. Then it was slowly heading home via the silo arts works along the way and walpuep and then over the border to pinaroo and home. We went through over a milk crate of spare containers and got 2 and 1/4 garage bags of cans and bottles. Any caches that were found broken/cracked/etc were replaced and any full log books were replaced.
Day 7 of my holidays today I left Murray Sunset National Park after a wet night and I made my way south. I made it as far as Donald where I set camp up for the night. I managed to find 27 caches today and 2 DNF's today.Passing by grabbing what I can along the way.TFTC tigersden
It’s great so many caches are at these memorials otherwise we’d probably have just driven past them. Found quickly with Astrobef. TFTC
Travelling from St Arnaud today caching as we go. This was a good excuse to stretch the legs while we searched. An isolated spot here. TFTC
Today we decided to pull up camp and move further south on our maiden voyage in our first ever caravan.
Have to be selective as we don't want to get too off road with the van in tow, but this was a quick and easy find on our way to Donald for a couple of nights.

Out and about after yet another lockdown we will travel around the mallee and cache and look at the art work the small towns have to offer
I’m always both amazed at the numbers of young people who were involved in the wars from an area that seems so empty, and saddened that these now small or defunct communities are no longer thriving as there once were TFTC tigersden
On a detour while doing the Silo Art Trail. A quick and easy find. TFTC tigersden.
Having just spent a fabulous couple of days in the Murray Sunset NP with The Tritonz and micaparamedic doing the new PS geoart series, we made our way back towards Mildura, supported local business where we safely could, and picked up a few more caches on our way home. TFTC tigersden. We always love stopping at these Historical Markers, and appreciate your cache placements at them.
Was so enjoying the drive I clear drove past it! Oops, after a quick u turn the cache was quickly located and signed. TFTC
Suscoe final find of an eight day trip to Mildura.
We like to visit these places and imaging what life was like back over 100 years ago.
All the noise of the school playground, all the fun of the community activities, births deaths and marriages and probably weddings too.
It is sad that these community facilities have all gone but thanks to those who commemorated this place with the plaque.
Thanks to tigersden for placing this cache here.
Time to head homewards now with no more cache stops but perhaps a lunch break somewhere down the road.

While attending the St Arnaud Event we travelled all over the Victorian countryside and and this was one cache we decided to find. Came upon a number of placed like this on our travels where schools of the past had been. Log signed as Team JAR and cache placed back where found. TFTC tigersden
Glad that this cache had us stop here so we could pay homage. Part of Team JAR today. Cache was found quickly and we gladly signed the log.
Cheers and happy caching!

Did a day trip to Sea Lake and collecting a few caches along the way. Have seen quite a few of these plaques for schools that no longer exist. Thanks for showing us around this special area.
Found on our way down to St Arnaud for a mega event. The tell tale signs of a cache hiding was spotted as we arrived at gz. We soon had the cache in hand and our name in the logbook. Thanks for placing this here.
Sitting at my computer during these Covid lockdowns, I am trying to catch up on a few logs that I haven't sent in yet.
Over the years, geocaching has taken me on many adventures, including interesting destinations all over my home continent of Australia and many overseas as well. It has also introduced me to a diverse group of like-minded caching tragics, many of whom I now call close friends.
Today, I was lucky enough to be out and about searching for caches, something I do on almost a daily basis. This was one cache that was targeted and found.
Sorry for the late log, something I am notorious for. Thank you for adding to the adventure that is geocaching.
Thanks tigersden for the cache.

After a great weekend in St Arnaud, today I was heading to Mildura today. Nice quick find and another chance to stretch my legs.
My thanks to tigersden for the cache.
My thanks to tigersden for the cache.
After spending most of the morning touring the Painted Silo Trail, we spent the afternoon looking for some other caches as we made a rather indirect path to Swan Hill. Along the way we stopped at this cache. Accurate coordinates and a logical hide location led to a quick find. The cache and contents were in good condition. Thanks tigersden for the cache and for drawing our attention to some of the history of the area.
Found at 10:44 AM GAFF1.
We have been to a lot of these schools that have closed down and 1943 - 1944 seems to be a common period for the closures. What happened then? It was WWII, but kids still had to go to school didn't they?
Thanks tigersden.

While traveling home after a fantastic weekend spent at the Big Desert in great company we decided to go a slightly different route to enable as to get some unfound caches. The cache was spotted as we approached GZ and we quickly added our name to the logbook after reading the memorial.
Thanks tigersden for the placement for us and others to enjoy.
Thanks tigersden for the placement for us and others to enjoy.
Heading north to attend the Big Billy event and decided to find a few caches off the main roads.
Still a bit damp at the moment and nice and quiet on the roads.
You wouldn’t think that there was that many kids around back then to justify all of the schools that popped up in the north of the state.
A clever hide was soon spotted, retrieved and replaced.
All good at GZ.
Read the memorial and was soon on my way.
Thanks tigersden TFTC.

The first day of summer, Victoria facing four days of impending record breaking wet weather, strangely enough not a speck of blue sky to be seen as we travelled from Donald to Mildura, making a few cache stops along the way.
We really enjoy finding caches at Historical Markers such as this, they give glimpses of a previous life among the acres of crop and grazing land.
Some TLC performed on the cache so it lasts a bit longer.
Thanks tigersden for placing caches for everyone's enjoyment.

I dropped in here an expected to find two caches, however only the one here. It is the original one as it has tigersden's markings on it and has Romax as the first name in there, as per the logs here.
Anyway, an easy find in another one of those areas that must have been bustling in its day.

A quick driveby on our way to SA for some easter hunting. Even though it was a quick find, caching has a tendency to increase travel times immensely. We enjoy these caches that highlight local history. SL TFTC
Another succesful find after Wagon Full. Quick find and sign of the log book. Only the 3rd people there, not too well visited.

Schools centralized in larger towns and school buses have seen the end of many similar places of learning!
Once again we left our mark in the log and thank you tigersden for bringing us here.
