Not on the map?? Oh- archived??? But still loaded on my GPS from the event weekend back in January. And luckily for us still in place - we were looking forward to seeing this notorious cache!
Read out the details to the car audience. Being old enough to remember the publicity about Cardigan Bay, but not knowing anything about horse racing or trotting, it was interesting to finally know what the fuss was about. And then told the story of the cache placement... http://forums.gps.org.nz/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=5447&p=41216&hilit=+million#p41216
Did have quite a bit of trouble finding the cache, but that was because I searched on the more discreet side of the plantings first before going and standing in full view. It has got a dry mildew problem on the logbook cover, otherwise okay.
And then we did as the lady over the road advised when the cache was placed, and went and did something better with our time. Lunch close to Birds of a Feather, followed by a visit to the artworks in the Money Gallery. Thanks Cumbyrocks!

Too far to maintain and locals arranged to maintain have left the area. Cache deteriorating so freeing up the space.
lot of traffic today, hard to hide what you were doing but took plenty of photos to disguise our plan

Not much into horse racing but into caching in a big way so was hedging our bets with this cache find. TFTC

Quick find in the rain during our drive from Curio Bay to Queenstown.

We stopped off here on the way back to Dunedin. Plenty of motorbikes, and the associated increased police presence, going past heading home after the Burt Munro Challenge.
This one took longer to find than it should have. No muggles paying attention to us today.

Pulled up and waited in the car for the rain to cease and when it did I got out of the car and was questioned by a lady on a bike. Who has upset the locals. Not going to walk on the garden to search with someone looking.
Last day of our MEGA cache raid so we decided to head further south before our flight home tonight.
Easy road side find TFTC.

Found this neat cache on our Blitz of the South Island while here for the mega event.
Many thanks for the cool cache.

Found in the company of mtbikeroz while selectively caching while heading south to do some sightseeing after the NZ MEGA. Thanx for placing a cache here for us to stop and find.
This was eluded me for a few minutes. When I spoted it I was quite angry with myself at the time it had taken me to find it. TFTC
Found with Emvy_us on our southern tiki tour while attending the Dunedin Mega. TFTC, made this find harder than we needed to.
Found with MtnLioness on our tour around Southern NZ and the NZ MEGA event.
Found on our return journey from Invercargill, Interesting history, thanks.

Another great find on the Emvy_Us / Waiiti20 mega tour of the Southern South Island. Needed sharp eyes for this one. TFTC
I can still belt out the words of the song from my childhood. The heavens opened just before reaching this cache which I thought would stop my caching plans for the rest of the day but luckily enough it passed through quite quickly. TFTC #4045

Quickly found on a pre Mega excursion through the Caitlins, up to Gore and back to Dunedin via Balclutha. The last of 31 caches I visited with a hitchhiker I picked up the day before near Ashburton and dropped off at Gore - he was going to Queenstown, and didn't mind going the long way: Dunedin, around Otago peninsula, through the Caitlins, and up to Gore. Left "Mr Tall" TB. TFTC.

What a lovely looking animal he was. He must have been tired by the end of his career though! All those races and so successful. A quick find was made and we were on our way. TFTC
A nice quick stop for a cache and a refuel for the driver on our way to Invercargill. TFTC
My husband remembers hearing about this horse in his younger days. The first million dollar pacer. A great accomplishment!!! thanks for the cache Cumbyrocks. TNLNSL.
A wet cache found in the garden; a little disappointed that we actually had to step onto the garden to search, after looking all around the edges - has it crept?
Log is damp, bag a bit wet, but all is serviceable.

Cache found with no problems.. The bag for the log was torn and the log was a bit soggy.. We replaced the bag and hope the log will dry up again.

Contrary to the previous log, I quite enjoyed my visit and learning a bit more about NZ's famed pacer. A busy spot but also one where you are hardly noticed.
Many thanks.
Many thanks.
Pity we had to walk on the garden to find this as there were places that it could have been hidden near the edges of the garden.
We did feel extremely exposed looking for this one but as usual the GPSr came in handy as a camera when cars drove by! Took a bit of hunting but found it without having to disfigure any shrubs. Interesting story about Cardigan Bay. Thanks Cumbyrocks.
Driving past on a trip Ingill qtown cromwell Ingill. Found it this time. Hands and knees on the plants to check for boxlike objects under the plant under sign then I spoted it close by. SL and retreaved TB's. TFTC
Found after a quick feel around. Interesting to read about the Million Dollar Pacer I never knew that! TFTC
Had a good look around the sign saw a spot where a box could go, but alas did not find this time. Maybe look another time.
number 62 for the long weekend, decided that this would be our last so dropped off 3 travel bugs for some one else to play with
12.00pm. Took quite a search. Found eventually. Nice to learn a little history about the racehorse.

Perfect colour to camo this one I can see why so many dnf logs at night. You would need to stand on it to find it then. And even in the day easily missed without a hands and knees session. Grab your self a day glow vest and act like a gardener.... Best hidden in plain sight on this one.. Tftc
We feel like chumps logging this as a DNF given the recent finds but we looked as well as the exposed location would allow but found nothing. It is a 2 ltrs after all so should have bloody near jumped out at us but short of ripping out the ground cover we couldn't find the thing. Maybe we just looked past it?
TFTC, dropped off stars and stripes jandals, cache was guarded by a lizard! felt rather odd with the amount of traffic going by.
What I thought would be a quick stop turned into something of a mission. Certainly felt exposed as I pretended to be interested in the plantings but after a while gave up the pretense and decided I didn"t like horses anymore!
Too much for Bitsprayer who got out of his vehicle and soon I made the find.
Thanks

Found this the second time i looked not sure why I couldnt in january as it is a big cache . Anyway great site thanks heaps
DNF: Arrived at GZ and it was raining cats and dogs literally, had a quick look but wasnt happy about stopping here while the weather was so bad so had to move on, will have another go if we come this way again.
Almost exactly a year ago I placed this cache and after it as sabotaged before it was even listed I didn't think it would last long. Well, 1 year and 67 finds later it seems to be still there and going well. Who would have guessed!?
[:}] Sat in the car eating my sammies whilst partner dodged the traffic to retrieve...Very easy find.....
Easy find but did take some time. Had daughters jumping out of car while no traffic around. Had to do this several times, It was fun to watch!!!
Finally did this cache. Been passed it so many times. Took a few minutes to find as the road was busy.

This was a tricky one, lots of muggles about, but managed to avoid muggles (we hope). TFTC
So much traffic went by when looking so had to pretend I was on the phone. Tftc
A quick find whilst passing through today. Thanks for the interesting bit of history. Signed log, TFTC!
Cache is quite damp. Log book is ok at the moment, but needs a new Ziplock bag and probably a new silica pack.
